Sharing in FrontRow between accounts

Hi
I have 3 accounts on me iMac and FrontRow (2.1.3) can't see any shared music libraries. Itunes in each account can see the other accounts' shared library, iPhoto in each account can see the shared photo libraries, FrontRow can see the shared Photos but no music.
help?
Thanks!

You have to tell FrontRow which sources to use. Select "Sources" (German: "Quellen") from the top menu of FrontRow. There you can select your shared music libraries.

  • Sharing iTunes Music between accounts in Front Row

I have two accounts set on my computer. The primary account shares it's iTunes library with the secondary one. The shared music works fine inside of iTunes but when when I attempt to find the shared music on the secondary account via Front Row it states that it cannot find Shared Music. Does Front Row not have access to the shared music on other accounts on the same computer?
All my apps have the most resent updates.

I have the same problem. I think Cory made an assumption in his reply, that there is music in the library of the secondary accounts iTunes. My Secondary Account has no music at all in the iTunes library. In iTunes for the Secondary Account there are two sources of shared music available in the shared music folder, both play fine from iTunes. The first source is shared music from my primary accounts iTunes library, the second source is from the library of an XP based machine on my network.
When accessing shared music from Front Row logged in on the secondary account, the music shared from the XP machine is available as listed and named in iTunes, the music shared from the primary accounts iTunes library is not available.
Purchased the Mac Mini Dual Core yesterday, did all updates to software yesterday. Any ideas, anyone?

  • Sharing itunes library between accounts

Hi my mom has just got an ipod for Christmas and wants to load up her songs. We share a computer but have separate accounts. She wants to have many (but not all) of the same songs that I have. Is it possible to share my itunes library with her so she doesn't have to reload all the CDs that we both like?

I did what the instructions said in the article "+Itunes:How to share music between accounts on a single computer"+ and I can see the music from my account but still cannot see it from my Mom's account.
Sorry about the double post, it was my first ever post and I thought I had it in the wrong place and could not see how to delete it.
Thanks for your help so far

  • Sharing Itunes music between accounts on same computer

    Hi
Is it possible to share Itunes music library between three accounts on same computer so if my wife logs into her account she can see my music library

    This should help:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder, but you can place the music elsewhere if you change the access permissions manually (don't start tinkering with permissions unless you're confident you know what you're doing and can reverse things if they get messed up).

  • Sharing Address book between accounts...?

    Hello,
Well, there are some contacts that the different account holders on my iMac have in common. How do I share these contacts between the different accounts?
    Appreciate you help!
    Lalli

Also, there was a product called MySync, which used the same syncing technology that Mac OS X uses to sync through .mac. It is now called SyncTogether. It allows syncing of accounts on the same Mac using Fast User Switching. It also appears to offer selective syncing, such as predetermined groups in Address Book.
    From the features page;
    Family Members

At home, SyncTogether will make Address Book and iCal work for you in new ways. SyncTogether's selective syncing feature lets you choose individual Address Book groups and iCal calendars to sync with other family members' Macs. *Sync a common list of addresses without sharing your entire contact list.* Share individual iCal calendars to keep track of family events and schedules. SyncTogether allows each user to add or modify information, so Mom can add weekend plans from her Mac, and Dad and the kids will see the new plans following the next sync. SyncTogether can even synchronize information between multiple accounts on the same Mac, which is great for families that share a single computer.

  • ITunes sharing between accounts on same Mac

    Hello,
Is there a way to share iTunes content (music, movies, etc.) between different user accounts on the same Mac? We have a "family" iMac with different login accounts (me, my spouse and our kids). When my spouse or kids are logged on as themselves, is there a way for them to access the music on iTunes that I see when I'm logged in? Thank you in advance!
    Best,
    M

    Hello M,
The article linked below details how to go about setting up a single iTunes Library for sharing across all user accounts on your system.

  • Sharing folders between accounts

How do I share a folder between accounts in the same iMac without having to move the original folders to public folders or without having to connect via AFP/SMB? I want another user to log in to his account and being able to see a shared folder in his desktop.

FIrstly create a folder in the root of you hard drive (generally Macintosh HD is the name of the system drive so you would double click on Macintosh HD then hold control on your keyboard and click within the White space in the window and you should see the option to create a new folder once you select new folder give it a name I would call it share but the name can be anything) once that's done again hold control on the keyboard then click on your new folder and you should see the option for get info click on that and than click on the arrow next to sharing and permissions and then click on the padlock and enter your admin password to unlock it after that click the plus button and add the users you want the folder shared with and then make sure each user has read write permission and then click on the aarow pointing down and select apply to enclosed items and that should be it ( you don't have to place the new folder in the root of the hard drive but if you place it anywhere within your home folder it will most likely cause issues somewhere down the line) the other option you have is to section off a part of your hard drive to use for data using a process called partitioning but i would recommend just to create a folder as partitioning can have undesirable results such as data loss and issues booting your Mac hope this helps

  • Sharing between accounts problem

Sorry if this is basic Mac 101 stuff, I'm a recent convert from the PC world...
While trying to share my iTunes library between my self and my wife, I believe I found a bug and I am unsure how to best report it and/or find a solution for my problem.
I found an article online that describes how to share iTunes libraries between accounts (http://bmannconsulting.com/node/701). After following the steps, I realized my wife was able to play music from the shared iTunes library but when she tried to import a new CD it failed with an error stating she did not have write permissions.
So I used the "Get Info" to check the permissions of the Users/Shared/iTunes folder. In the "Sharings & Permissions" list, I see 3 entries:
    - (Me) : Read & Write
    - (unknown) : Read only
    - everyone : Read & Write
Now I don't understand who/what the (unknown) user is, but I would think that b/c "everyone" has Read & Write access my wife should be able to import CDs and write to the folder.
I then decided to give her explicit access. I clicked on the lock to unlock this screen. However when I click on the "+" sign to add her in, the Get Info panel immediately disappears. So unfortunately I can't seem to give her access.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? Also, what is the correct procedure to report a possible bug to the Apple developers? Lastly, should I be worried about having an (unknown) user with Read Only permissions on my Shared folders?
    Thanks.

iTunes libraries are folder hierarchies with potentially thousands of files inside. It's not enough to just change the permissions of the folder itself to make it writable by others, you need to change the permissions of everything inside. And even after doing that, once a user adds a new album, a new folder is created with the default OS X permissions set (read-only for all but the creator) and the permissions need to be changed again.
Fortunately, there's a way to get around all of this hassle with ACLs. See the article linked below on how to set it up for iPhoto, and use it for your iTunes library. It works great to share iMovie projects and iTunes and iPhoto libraries between my wife's and my user accounts.

  • Problem sharing photos from multiple accounts on one Mac

I am trying to share two different iPhoto libraries from two different User Accounts on the same Mac. In each account I have iPhoto Sharing 'Look for shared photos' and 'Share my photos' checked. I also have the Firewall on with port 8770 enabled.
    1. From a Powerbook I can only connect to one library. Once I pick that first library the second library will not load at all. I have to quick and restart iPhoto in order to select the second library. -- I fixed this by turning off my Firewall. With the Firewall off I can switch between the libraries at will. My question, what ports should I enable besides 8770 to allow multiple instances of iPhoto to run? (Just like you need multiple ports to have the ATV connect to multiple instances of iTunes.)
    2. When I am configured as above, my two iPhoto applications do not see each other. They can both see and connect to the Powerbook. And the Powerbook can see each running instance. But neither iPhoto instance on the same Mac can see the other. This is new with iPhoto '08. I was able to do this with iPhoto '06.
    Thank you

    HI Darien,
Here are all the links I have for the different kinds of sharing:
    SHARING IPHOTO LIBRARIES
Sharing libraries between users on the same local network
You can also share a library on the same machine between users the same way.
Sharing libraries between users on the same machine...
-both users must have sharing enabled in their iPhoto Preferences
-both users must be logged in and have iPhoto running
-Remember that you can only view the other library. You can't edit the photos or play the saved slideshows or view the made books or burn them to CD or DVD. The books and slideshows will show up as an album. You can play that album as an "on the fly" slideshow. You can drag images from the sharing library to your library in the source column to import them to your library. You can then edit, add to albums, books, slideshow, etc.

SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

Put the file in a folder that both users have access to, such as /Users/Shared or one user's Public folder. You may also need to change its permission settings in the Finder Info window.

    Hi Baskaran,
For this issue, I think the main reason may be the original account is removed or changed from AD.
In the following there is an article about this to reset the service account, you can refer to it for more information:
    http://edinkapic.blogspot.com/2009/10/moss-shared-services-provider.html
Additionally, as you already tried to reset the service accounts, you could try to clear SharePoint configuration caches in case the caches were not updated, to clear SharePoint configuration caches, you can see the below article:

  • On your imac can you share documents between accounts?

on your imac can you share documents between accounts? If I work on a Pages document can another account see that document and ber able to work on it?

If you want to copy the file between users you can use the Public folder in your home directories. If you put something in the Public folder other users can see it and copy it out if they want to send something to you they can copy it into your Public/Drop Box folder.
If you both want to be able to work on the same document you could use the /Users/Shared folder which is read/write for all users.

  • Home Sharing Purchased Applications between 2 Different Ipads

By using the Home Sharing feature I have shared Ipad applications between my Ipad and my wifes's Ipad. The first app was a purchased app and it works fine on both Ipads. However, when I shared other purchased apps they do not load when they are selected on the Ipad. Can someone confirm if you are suppose to be able to share purchased apps and if so why they will not launch when selected on the receiving Ipad?

My wife and I have two ipads and share an itunes account. I beleive that is the "supported" method of doing it. You are purchasing the app, not for use on one device, but on all your devices.
This allows you to upgrade and keep all purchased apps on the next device.
We pick and choose, but can have the same apps across both ipads wihout problems this way.
We have not attempted the Home sharing method as of yet.

  • Is there a way to create a shared net conn. between Airport and Ethenet?

Is there a way to create a shared internet connection between one airport computer and another via ethernet?
I have one computer (lets call this computer 'A') connected to the net via Airport which connects to a router, which is directly connected to my ADSL line.
However, my other computer (computer 'B') is not located within range of this wireless router.
Is there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
    ADSL---Wireless Router---(Airport)---Computer A---(Ethernet)---Computer B

Is there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
Yes, it's called Internet Sharing, and here's how to set it up...
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wireless to Wired):
    Enable Software Firewall (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall
o Click Stop to start the software firewall
    Setup the Network
ADSL Modem > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Wireless Internet Router > (wireless) > (AirPort Card) Computer A (Ethernet port) > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Computer B
    Setup Port Order (Computer A)
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
o Verify that "AirPort" and "Built-In Ethernet" are enabled.
o Verify that "AirPort" is at the top of the list, followed by "Built-In Ethernet."
    o Click "Apply Now."
Configure the Internet Connection (Computer A)
    System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort > TCP/IP
    o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
o Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
    Enable Internet Sharing (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
o Share your connection from: AirPort
o To computers using: Built-In Ethernet (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
    o Click Start
