ShellRunAs.exe and msc files

not sure what the best forum was to post this, i have this issue:
Im trying to use ShellRunAs.exe to run application under my Admin account with smartcard.
This works for most applications, but not for the Domain admin tools like Active Directory Users and computers.
I have tried  various command:
C:\Path\to\shellrunas.exe C:\windows\system32\dsa.msc
this results in a popup from ShellRunAs:
Error launching program:
The system cannot find the file specified
C:\Path\to\shellrunas.exe  c:\windows\system32\mmc.exe c:\windows\system32\dsa.msc
This results in a run as dialog as expected, once i authenticate under a different user i get:
Error launching application:
the requested operation requires elevation.
How can i get this to work, without changing any group policies, i just want this to work like other programs.
Im using Windows 8 x64
also posted this on the sysinternals forum, but that seems pretty dead
http://forum.sysinternals.com/shellrunasexe-and-msc-files_topic30660.html
Hope someone knows.

  • How to package/inlcude C++ .exe and .dll files in a Java Web Start App?

    Hello,
I have a Java Web Start application that runs fine if the application is only 1 .jar file.
But I have a need to also run C++ .exe and .dll file from my Java application.
I wonder if someone could please tell me how to package/include C++ .exe and
.dll files in my Java web start application?
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Akino

You need to place the EXE and DLLs inside the jar.
Java cannot execute them from the jar. They have to be extracted (see Class.getResourceAsStream) from the jar and copyied into the target machine file system, perahps to the temp directory. Now you can execute them using Runtime.exec() or ProcessBuilder.start().

    Hello,
I downloaded  third party softwares having .EXE and .RAR file extension. But none of these files open up  and
I can NOT RUN them and install them on my WINDOWS 7  System.
It is possible , some of the associations of these files might have been missing or may have been damaged earlier by any Virus . At moments my system is Virus-Free and clean. Even  downloaded Third Party softwares  are Virus-Free and clean
as shown by my Anti-Virus software
Can any body help me to fix up these issues , or to RESTORE .EXE and .RAR  file extentions , so that I can RUN and install these Third party softwares on my PC
My EMail ID : [email protected]
    Thanks,

    Hi,
What do you mean by saying "to RESTORE .EXE and .RAR file extentions " here?
Any applications(or softwares) that with .EXE extention could not be run on your PC or only related to some specific application?
Please take a look at the KB below:
Can't open .EXE files in Windows 7 or Windows Vista
Regarding .rar files, we might need some 3rd party tools to extract them and then take the install option.
    Hope this may help

  • Trying to down load a file that contains .exe and .bin files on Unity(gaming builder)

Trying to down load a file that contains .exe and .bin files on Unity(gaming builder). can this be done on iMac. it is a video game? It works fine in windows computer? dont know if this limited information helps. Is there a program or something i need to buy or download? Thanks

    Hello,
.exe files are Windows® executable files, so you'd need Windows Installed.

  • Why can't I download .exe and .reg files?

Hi! I hope you can help me in my computer problem. I have trouble downloading .exe and .reg files. I'm not sure but it must have been for some weeks now that I had this problem. When I download these files, the Downloads Window of Firefox will appear, but will show that the download is "cancelled." I click the retry button and it starts to download, but after the download completes, the file doesn't appear on the designated Download folder. I tried searching for it in the desktop it but it still doesn't show. What can I do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance for all the help! :)

As indicated you can right click 'alarm clock 1' on http://www.pacdv.com/sounds/domestic_sounds.html to download it.
I must admit that this is silly especially if you have already gone to the full link and listened to the file. In this case it will have already been downloaded but finding it is tedious - I suspect it is only in RAM - not one of Safari's good points!
    I hope this helps.

  • EXE and PIF files

I think i got this exe and pif files on my mac after unsuccessful installation of windows.  I don't exactly know where I got this.
Is it safe to delete all this files? Does my mac need this files to run its operating system? There are over 48,000 exe and pif on my mac. And I think its accumulating almost my HD space.

So does it mean i can delete it? I'm afraid that it like an important file because of its name. Some of it is:
    yyxb.exe
    yjgyym.exe
    yyjovx.exe
    yydc.exe
and thousands of it on my main folder and macintosh hd.
So is it safe to delete those exe?
    How about those pif files?

  • Exe and .7z Files

Downloaded Cs6 .exe and .7z files. What is the .7z file for? It does not appear to be an extract file, so I'm not sure what to do with it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    2Wheeler%

The EXE file is the installer 'bootstrap' utility, and the 7Z file contains the software package itself (the resources and the full installation program). You don't need to do anything with the 7Z file, as the bootstrap will unpack it automatically. It's used instead of ZIP because the 7ZIP compression is more efficient for the type of files being downloaded.

  • Robohelp install does not discuss 2 file install from .exe and .7z files

Robohelp 11 install instructions: Adobe RoboHelp 11 * Getting started
does not discuss installation other than to say insert disk and install.
I have the .exe and the .7z files from the Your Download page.
How are these used to install Robohelp?

    Hi There,
In order to install Robohelp, you must have 2 files ( .7z and .exe ) downloaded completely at same location / folder.
You have to run .exe file and it will extract .7z file and creates a folder Adobe Robohelp11 on your desktop which contains setup.exe file, that you can run to install Robohelp 11.

  • Scrambled icons for Windows .EXE and .MSI files in Finder.

For some reason the icons in Snow Leopard for .exe files and .msi files show up as a scrambled image. I wish there was a way to upload a screenshot. Is anyone else seeing this problem. I do have VMware Fusion installed. Not sure if that is causing the issue.
Just to be clear, the icon are scrambled in the Finder, not in any of the VMware sessions.

I'm getting the same thing. When I look at the get info information they are associated with Windows explorer in Bootcamp, so I just changed them over to be associated with VMWare Fusion, which gives me nice plain icons.
I wish there were some way to say all exe files get a certain custom icon. Then I would use the Fusion icon.

  • Publish a web deploy package using Deploy tool (msdeploy.exe) and *.PublishSetting file

    Hi,
I have created a web deploy package (*.zip) file using Visual studio. Also I have created a website in Azure and got the publish settings file.
Now say, I have only web deploy package and publish settings file. How can I publish this package to Azure website using the command prompt with msdeploy.exe command?
Im trying something like the below:
    msdeploy.exe -source:package='D:\WebDeploy\WebProfile.zip' -dest:auto,computerName="http://webdeploytestsite.azurewebsites.net:443/msdeploy.axd?site=WebDeployTestSite",userName="$WebDeployTestSite",password="***********",authtype="Basic",includeAcls="False"
    -verb:sync -disableLink:AppPoolExtension -disableLink:ContentExtension -disableLink:CertificateExtension -setParamFile:"D:\WebDeploy\WebProfile.SetParameters.xml"
    I'm getting the below error!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Error: Could not complete the request to remote agent URL 'http://webdeploytests
    ite.azurewebsites.net:443/msdeploy.axd?site=WebDeployTestSite'.
Error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a r

Error: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection
was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Error: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
    Error count: 1.

    Hi,
As you are using http:// connection instead of https:// in your connection, check the below provide solutions:
    1. In the publish profile window, You need to check the "Allow untrusted certificate" checkbox and the publish should succceed
You may refer following link for more information:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff683672.aspx
    2. Alternatively, add the –allowUntrusted flag on the command.
And, we always recommend you to use 'PowerShell' to run the commands instead of normal 'CommandPrompt'. Also, you may temporarily disable the Antirvius in your computer for testing purpose and check if it might be blocking the connection.

  • Download went fine but I get an error message about rights (even logged in as Administrator) and disk space (even though there's plenty) when I try to run the .exe and extract files.

IT help said the installer was corrupted. Back I go to see if I can download it again and get a clean version.

Banjo Seth if you are receiving messages that you have insufficient file permissions then please have your I.T. department attempt the install utilizing a local administrator account.

  • Protecting EXE, PDF and SWF files from piracy

I am hoping others in the community have some experience with protecting their Captivate output (EXE and SWF files) from piracy.  We will be selling our eLearning products developed with Captivate through our online store and want to protect them against file sharing and other forms of piracy.  I have found several companies online offering DRM (digital rights management) and SAS (software activation services) that require users to enter a license key to use the products.  I am looking for any recommendations from users who have implemented these types of services.  What provider did you use and what issues did you encounter.  Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jason

Most of the tools I have seen are geared towards extracting
resources from swf's. I use one myself (eltima.com) for
"harvesting" manufacturers content for my motorcycle dealers. They
are authorized to use this content, but finding someone at Yamaha
of Kawasaki or any of the majors who even knows where to find these
resources is next to impossible. I have also used it to learn from
by viewing scripts, but as you say, at the end of the day, I think
the concepts and best practices are about the only thing worth
taking away from others efforts, not the code.
Unlocking a protected file can be done as well and I remember
using a product over a year ago to get at the scripts within an swf
(I wanted the URL's that pointed to media - it was legal for me to
do this). It ran from the command line and output the scripts.
There aren't too many of these types of programs to be found, but
    they exist.
My personal opinion is that it's not worth the effort. My
java classes can be decompiled and if someone wants to go to that
trouble, more power to them. To my knowledge, there isn't anything
out there yet that is perfect for backwards engineering an swf into
an MXML file, but a competitor of FLASH Decompiler says that they
can decompile Adobe 9 PLAYER swf's. For what it's worth, I plan on
posting the majority of my code on my flexdev.org site once I get
    it established.
For people who make components for sale, this could be an
issue of stolen revenue if the decompilers get sophisticated enough
to reverse engineer the swc into a usable MXML file. I would be
against anyone who stole code for this purpose, for sure.

  • Context menu for .exe and .lnk slow becaus of nv3dappshext.dll

    Hi
I recently made a fresh install of Windows 7 and I'm now noticing that the context menu for .exe and .lnk files opens very slow. With the help of ShellExView it looks like it is caused by C:\Windows\system32\nv3dappshext.dll. If i disable nv3dappshext.dll the
problem goes away. So my first try was to reinstall all Nvidia drivers but that didn't help. I'm now thinking that there is some other file that makes nv3dappshext.dll corrupt.
Is there anyone here that might know what's wrong?
    //Simon

Hi Simon, did you keep this disabled? Did you report to NVID.support?
NVIDIA are as bad as Microsoft are as bad as Intel, all kinds of application errors (going for the cleanest build on the planet :) so, given that I don't
    have
    any 3D-ready devices (ergo)
    any superfluous NVIDIA programs*
the DISPLAY DRIVER's all I need, and still I get app issues (recently, disconcertingly, the ominous,
snail-mode 'Kernel Processing Power' event (cores are disabled because of some event/temp?)
BSOD/Shell Crash when extending display to AOC 2036 monitor @ 1920x1080, not gaming!
FIXED by installing NVIDIA's 'system tool' {nTune} (THANKS!!! to Haider
Ali Khan for the tip! TdrDelay QWORD:8 failed to fix, almost bought a new AC Adapter!)
New nTune issues now being monitored....
    * Custom install NVIDIA, only select the driver if you're not a gamer, sterescopic not
{yet} required if you're in 2D, Physx Engine only for Steam(online) gamers,
HD AUDIO not required (if you've also got HD Intel doing that for ya :D
I will fix NVIDIA's and Microsoft's mistakes :D I might even upload my (native virtualised) build when done. It's so slick, so nice to have a tool that works, and one that can keep up with your imagination!)

  • Once more about "black" and "white" file lists.

    Hello everyone!
I've got a task to find all unauthorized  executables on all workstations in domain. The good point is that workstations are identical to each other (both hard and soft), bad point is that I have to find the existence of this files on HDDs, not their
launches. And I have to use SCCM 2012 SP1 for reporting as well. That's why I cannot use the AppLocker.
Well, what I've decided to do is to take one of workstations as the sample (SW - sample workstation). All updates, patches, etc. are provided at SW first, then are spread on whole domain. All .exe (and another file masks) on SW are presumed as "white",
all others on workstations are presumed as "black" ones. What I need now is to compare white-list from SW with file list from every computer in collection.
There already exists almost ready-to-use report that I need, but it has to be modified. Unfortunately, my knowledge of MS SQL is somewhere below zero (maybe absolute zero, -274C :) ). Thats,s why I'm asking for help. I've tried to find some articles about
creating or modifying reports, but most of them are the same: "Open Report Builder, now copy and paste there the sample query from below. Wonder what a pretty report  you've got!"
The report is "Compare software inventory on two computers". What modifications do I need:
    - Compare not "Computer name - Computer name" but "Computer name - Select a collection"
    - Exclude files from white-list (from SW) from report.
    - Exclude size, version and time check - only existence and (maybe) the difference in path..
    - Group by machine name.
Maybe instead of ready query you can advice me some good article like "Composing reports in Report Builder for absolute newbies", I'll appreciate it very much as well.
    Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely, Alexey

    Hello, Daniel!
Thank you very much for your answer it was really helpful.
I really would like to delegate this report to programmers department but the problem is that they know nothing about SCCM, so I should explain to them what is SCCM, what is 'device collection' and all other things. Moreover, I've managed to find the list
of functions for SCCM 2012, but I didn't find the list of SQL views for it, found only for SCCM 2007 and I'm not sure that it will suit for 2012.
Well, I'm not too old yet to start learning something new :) , so I'll try to deal with this report myself.
Thank you again for your help.
    Sincerely, Alexey.
