In WIndows 8, Google search results for Firefox (only) appear in a narrow column on the left of the window.

Firefox (25.0.1) and Google worked well together until 11/26/2013 when a guest user searched on Google. Google search still works well on IE and Chrome. The problem is only on Firefox and only with Google. Bing, Ask, Yahoo, Wikipedia all perform and display as expected. No recent installs or upgrades. No other search engine returns results in a narrow column on the left. It is as if the guest user dragged the results to the left column and that display became the default. I can not restore the prior display. I have restarted Windows. I have reinstalled Firefox, but that has not fixed the problem. I have disabled all add-ons (I do not have any) and run in safe mode, The problem still exists. Appearance is Default 25.0.1

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac). 
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right. 
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

How can I display my bookmarks in a persistent column on the left of the display?

I like to have a permanent display of bookmarks i a column on the left of the display. Having restarted FF, this is no longer shown.
I see a View option to display the bookmarks toolbar - but I don't want a toolbar - I want to go back to having the list always shown on the left.

Just press F11 on your keyboard to exit full screen mode.

After updating to Firefox 5 on a Windows 7 PC the bookmarks icon won't stay on the toolbar and I can't click it to get a bookmarks column on the left side of the screen, how do I fix it?

There was no bookmarks icon on the toolbar. I used View > Toolbars> customise to put various icons on the toolbar all of which were visible using "customise". On going back to Firefox all the other icons remained visible but the Bookmarks Icon disappeared leaving no means of getting a bookmarks column on the left of the screen when using Firefox.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar 
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" and check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar

Did it... When I clicked on "No name", a file folder came up and, I forgot to put MacBook Pro in the name bar... That was it! Maybe someone else can use this post Hopefully...

According to the requirement , there are 2 Material Numbers ,1 of them is used for Compounding,which is not required in the Report,but as it is used for Compounding ,we need to place that in the rows.
We have put tat in "NO DISPLAY" mode,but Material Number appears twice under the Rows column, on the left hand side of the screen, in the Portal when we execute the Report.How Can we have to display only 1 Material Number on the left hand side of the screen?

the left hand side of the screen is reakky vague....you should be more specific...
Probably you need to filter out the compounding characteristics in the global filter area.

Purple column on the left??? Help!

Hi and tnxs for reading,
today column on the left appeared (not in my document but in the view of one of my document).
This happened only on my mac, while the same document on iPad or iPhone (it is on iCloud) is properly shown.
How can I go back to the standard view??

Why are some websites squished to one column on the left?

All of a sudden some websites are all squished in one column on the left side of the iPad and are unreadable or unusable. This hasn't always been the case. I'm using safari. I've rebooted the iPad, I have the latest os system. Two examples are:

Www.vassarbushmills.com
I have my own website and it's been fine.
Www.conservative-outlooks.com
And the larger websites are fine as well. I'm really stymied.

Bad web design, or a proplem with the linked CSS files, would be my guess. Report it to the webmasters for those sites.
At least on one of them, you can pinch out to properly see the site.

Ipad2: When I switch Wifi on, no available networks are listed. In the column on the left it still says Wifi 'off'.

How can I return to a previous version of Numbers? Or how can I have all my sheets show on a column on the left hand side, as in the previous version?

I updated my Numbers for Mac only to find out that there are several changes that make it less appealing for me so far (and I don't think it's only the learning curve). Questions: a) can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them) I have in that spreadsheet? In the previous version they were all easy access on the left hand side.
Or b) can one go back to a previous version of a program somehow?

On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month. But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download). To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu. Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view. Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right. That's much faster than using the arrows.

Satellite L650-12Q - Sound shifted off to the left

Purchased a Satellite L650-12Q yesterday. I'm happy but I listen to quite a lot of music on my laptop through headphones. I've noticed that the sound is panned somewhat to the left, rather than spread evenly across left and right of my headphones. This is across several types of music - my mp3s, youtube clips etc. The only thing that was really 'central' was a track that is virtually mono (if not actually mono). I've listened to the same track on my old laptop, on my mp3 player (with the same headphones) and there's definitely a shift to the left headphone.
I know there's no issue with the headphones themselves, and I'm discounting a dodgy connection - so could it be how the sound is being processed through to the headphones (through the speakers on the laptop, the sound appears to be evenly spread.) and if it is, what can I do about it?
Any thoughts?

Took a look at the Sound settings, and lurking in Sounds>Playback>(Speaker) Properties>Dolby, it was defaulted to Audio Enhancement (not the issue) BUT ALSO defaulted to Surround Sound. When I disable Surround Sound ... lo and behold, I'm back in the world of Stereophonic Sound, and the L/R balance is good.
(Not sure why the default would be Surround Sound)
I guess it might explain why the mono sound was the only thing that was OK.
Anyway, problem fixed, and thanks for the response, it's much appreciated.

Iphone 5 camera zoom shifts images to the left

After ruining a day's worth of soccer pictures, I tested this glitch on two different Iphone 5s to confirm.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Focus on a distant object keeping it in the center and zoom all the way in with your camera.
2) Take a picture and see if the image has shifted to the left or remains how you saw it in the viewfinder. If its still on center, you probably haven't used the video selection.
3) Switch to video mode and then switch back to camera.
4) Repeat steps 1 and 2. On both of my Iphones, the centered image shifted left, cutting off the left side of the frame and adding to the right.
The defective pictures will persist until you turn off your phone and turn it back on. Then the camera will take on-center pictures using full zoom.
Note that as soon as you switch to and from video mode, the problem is back.
I contacted Apple Support on 11/15 and they did not have this problem as a known issue before now. Both phones are operating on iOS 6.01.

Thank you so much for your post. If was very helpful. I was at a Penn State Wrestling match when I noticed that all of the pictures were shifted to the left. I was not too happy with the phone at that point. I turned it off and turned it back on and the camera centered properly. I thought that I did something wrong at first. This has happened several more times since. I never notice the problem until I look at the pictures later. Hopefully, they can get this fixed.
