The purpose of compilation of the this paper
A few years ago, when I was the software architect of a big project with J2EE, I advised some of the modern tools of that time to the project manager. He acknowledged it. Therefore, we began deploying our Enterprise on Java platform. However, we encounterd with many problems, as we got ahead the project. Our tools were included Struts Framework, Spring Framework & Hibernate.
I convinced that MVC architecture is the best option to develop macro projects! However, I believe it now, as well. Couldn't it be more completed? In developed Enterprise projects, an advanced architecture is required to divide the project, technically. The project was successfully finished after one year, but my mind was busy with it for a long time!
Then, I began implementing an Application Framework and registered it in Sourceforge.net as an Open Source Framework. I developed some Enterprise projects & some other J2EE frameworks, as well. I achieved a good result! The velocity of implemention & developing projects increased up to 50%. Subsequently, by cooperation of my elected students who had worked with Application Framework, I established an organization, named J2SOS, to protect & develop this Application Framework.
Fortunately, my students were so skilled that each took a chief task in big J2EE projects.
Their experiences had a practical affect on development of Application Framework as well as the organization.
Therefore, it is required to write down my & my yesterday students (my today co-workers) experiences. This was the outset to write the present paper!

Purposes
In this chapter, we do our best to introduce J2EE basic concepts.
Servlet & JSP
If you ahve ever worked with JSP & Servlet, you know that Servlet is so proper for processing functions but there are particular problems with it in displaying functions.
JSP is applied reverse to Servlet. Thus, what is the solution? To apply both JSP and Servlet together!
What is MVC?
MVC is an easy way to use JSP & Servlet together. In MVC architecture, the request will be processed by a Class (Servlet) and the appropriate response will be showen by JSP.
n the above Servlet Class, the validation operation, etc will be done.
Nowadays, there are numerous Frameworks which will assist you to use MVC Framework architecture. Struts Framework is the most well-known one.
MVC or JWMS ? That is the problem! Perhaps both!
MVC is a powerful architecture, but it is required an advanced architecture to implement developed projects.
Today, web applications are well developed which complicatethe work for programmers & developers.
To clarify it, see Google site! Google Web Application enjoys numerous services, each have a special service for the users.
For Instance, Gmail service, E-Mail or by SearchEngine, the users can search for websites, pictures, etc.
These services have certaily close communication with each other.
If the services do not use a particular architecture, the Google will encounter with various problems.
In Service Oriented architecture, each part of the program is a service programme. For example, E-Mail service, SearchEngine service, etc.

How to determine 640/J2EE Startup Framework Binary Patch Level?

Hi All,
We are running BI ABAP with Java Add-in on WAS 640/SUSE/Oracle.
In the ABAP world, there are many options for determining the current kernel patch level. Disp+work -v, SYSTEM->STATUS, etc..
How do I determine the patch level of the J2EE startup framework (ie: jlaunch, jcontrol, etc..)? If I run these commands with '-version', I get a patch level of 0. From System Information, the Cluster Kernel Version is 6.40 PatchLevel 105424.313.
What I am trying to determine is if I have the binaries that map to the latest applied SP (18). Do I need to download J2EERTOS18.SAR and apply the bits or has that already been done? Or is the current patch level for the bits fro the J2EERTOS14.SAR file? Etc...
Any tips/suggestions?

While regarding which file(s) to apply, please notice that the files you are not talking like
J2EERTOS16_1, is part of the J2EE support package stack, which can be applied with JSPM.

URGENT SUGGESTIONS- j2ee WEB FRAMEWORK

Hi All,
As a part of our part time project me and my friends are exploring on development of a j2ee web framework. For this we are exploring the behaviours of some famous frameworks such as STRUTS.
We are looking at the normal Controller model, The automatic httprequest to Java bean bindings and other such features.
We would like to hear more suggestions as to what
1. What all should be the salient features of a j2ee Web Framework.
2. Any feature that isnt present in the existing web frameworks but wud be a real value add if present.
Any other general suggestion about design of such frameworks etc are also welcome.
It would be great if all you guys give us your genuis feedbacks..

Sorry, I used up all my genuis feedback advice for the week. However, here are some ideas.
Struts framework is/was very popular but is rapidly being replaced by the Spring framework.
I dont believe you can just read some on-line articles on these frameworks because there is a lot of information to learn.
I suggest you buy a book on either framework and go through it cover to cover. Similiarly I suggest you read a JSP book first (you can look through them at the bookstore, then buy them on amazon.com cheaper).
I few quick suggestions about building your own framework before messing with a framework:
Ideally, you should have a separation of concerns between the layers (Model View Controller):
View = this is the JSP pages. Those pages should read all the information necessary to populate itself from objects placed in request scope. They should not contain business logic (such as instansiating java objects) or database logic (such as sql statements to fetch data from the database).
Control= this usually is a single servlet responsible for taking in all url browser requests (say, a JSP button update click), verifying the user is logged in, then calling up business logic to obtain data to populate the JSP page. It puts the data provided by the business logic in request scope for the JSP page to read, then dispatches to the correct JSP page. The control does not genereate html tags to put on the JSP page. The user should never directly call up a JSP page. All requests should go through the servlet to ensure you have a single class that verifies the user's login (security).
Model: The model consists of business logic and database logic. Often, these are separated into thier own layers as follows:
1) business logic: The control calls the business logic and passes all the data from the JSP page to it. It then determines what data to pass back to the control so it can pass it back to the JSP page. The business logic does not deal with the request scope (request is a presentation object), it does not call sql statements to talk to the database. Instead it calls database logic to actually get the data.
2) database logic: fetches data from the database for the business logic to use. It has sql. It has no business logic or presentation logic.
Lastly, I normally create a form object to hold all the data I read from the JSP page. Example: You have a JSP page called MyJspPage..jsp:

I suggest creating a project based on the above ideas before you mess with a framework such as struts or spring. a lot of work has gone into creating those frameworks and they abstract away a lot of the low level code that I discussed above.

J2EE startup framework and J2EE

I have changed some Java VM parameters.
To make above change effective, I have to re-start the J2EE instance.
But my co-worker (who left my company) wrote in his document
" For the SAP J2EE startup framework, it's NOT sufficient to re-satrt the J2EE
instance" to activate above change.
I did some research on J2EE startup framework. I think it is no longer used in NW7.0
Could you help me
-- how do I know a system has SAP J2EE startup framework (I believe it is a concept prior to 7.0 version).
Our system is NW7.0.
-- If it is a J2EE stratup framework, how do I activate above change?

SAP Netweaver 7.0 still has J2EE Startup and Control framework.
When you change a property normally the tool prompts that a restart is required. Normally you get a description of what kind of restart is needed. "A cluster restart is needed" for example meaning you have to stop/start your J2EE cluster.
If you are working on a dual stack you can stop/start through transaction SMICM under menu item Administration --> J2EE Cluster --> Send Hard Shutdown --> With Restart. That will hard restart your J2EE cluster and your parameter change (done in configtool I assume) will be activated once the J2EE cluster has restarted.
If you are working on a single stack SAP system you can stop/start using command prompt stopsap JC<instance number> or through the SAP Management Console.
You can check the activate VM parameters through the http://<hostname>:<j2ee port>:/index.html page under system information --> VM parameters for the node for which you have made a change.

The project builds fine in VS 2013 (since its a new project).
It seems that it is not recognizing all the packages. How do I fix this problem?

It doesn't work for me either. It's an MVC 5.2.2.0 project straight out of the Wizard. It's part of a solution with other projects which appear to be working. I tried configuring NuGet to download missing assemblies on the build machine as it suggested on
some other sites. That didn't help. According to the list of installed software on the Hosted Build Controller, I don't see MVC explicitly listed. (getting-started/hosted-build-controller-..) page in the TFS project site.
It definitely doesn't work. I'm trying out Visual Studio Premium 2013 and Team Foundation Service on the 90 day trial offer. I can't find any mention of an MVC restriction. I don't want to have to include the package binaries in source control.
Edit: I tried a standalone MVC 5 project and it worked fine on the Hosted Build Controller. If you add an MVC 5 project using the wizard to an existing solution with other projects, you get the errors below. So it isn't the Hosted Build Controller.

It seems that my working stand alone project has the dlls in the packages folder tree added to source control. Whereas in the composite project, only the corresponding .xml files are added to source control. So with the standalone project, the build server
is locating these dlls and using them.

No ejb-j2ee-engine.xml after new EJB module project

Hi! Can someone please help. Newbie here
I installed SDK 1.4.2_13
I installed Netweaver Developer Studio 7.0.09
When I create a new ejb module project I only see the files
ejb-jar.xml
ejbmodule
I miss the file ejb-j2ee-engine.xml
How is this possible?

I solved the problem by uninstalling SAP Netweaver Developer Studio version 7.0.09 and install version 7.0.08
However, It's still strange why there was no ejb-j2ee-engine.xml when there was created a new EJB project module.

Startup framework 6.0 for 6.2 should work with all patches. Though I used it in P3 + PL22 combination and not with PL19.
Please upgrade to PL23, specially if you are planning cluster......

Looking at the XFILES.5.xml file and Install.vbs files of the XFILES installer, it appears that the XDBPM_SUPPORT and XFILES_DBA_TASKS actions will only be run if you enter a SYSDBA user in the "DBA User" field of the installer. However, for some reason, Oracle seems to have commented out the command that checks to ensure that the DBA user you entered is a SYSDBA user, and the "DBA User" field defaults to SYSTEM, which is not a SYSDBA user. Since I got things working I haven't tried rerunning the installer with a SYSDBA user, but maybe it will work better. The installation documentation and/or the installation scripts need to be updated to reflect the need for a SYSDBA user.
Regarding the APEX version of XFILES, this has not installation instructions whatsoever, and there are prerequisite steps to get this to install correctly as well. I tried importing the f102.sql file into APEX and it failed on the prereq validation because an "XFILES/Apex" folder wasn't found in XML DB. I went looking for anything that creates this directory and I found that there is another XFILES_DBA_TASKS.sql script specifically for the APEX version. It is included in the f102.sql file. So I cut and paste the contents into SQL*Plus and ran it as SYS. I was then able to install the f102 application.

How can I install my J2EE application on a new WLS domain/server?

I am trying to create an installer for our J2EE application using WLS.
Our requirements:
a. Create a fresh domain/server
b. Create/configure JDBC connection pool/datasources
c. Setup startup classes d. Deploy our J2EE application
Here are the steps:
a. Create a new directory (say myapp)
b. Copy files config.xml, DefaultAuthenticatorInit.ldift and SerializedSystemIni.dat
from an already configured WLS (I have one that has everything including JDBC
datasources/startup classes, etc)
c. Create a directory myserver/upload/myapp
d. Put myapp.ear e. Start the server
Is this the right approach or is any other better way of installing a J2EE app?
Any help in this would be highly appreciated.

Check out weblogic 8.1 and the ant tasks wlconfig and wlserver to do this
all from ant.

Also you can do
java weblogic.Server in any new directory and it will create a new config.
You can pass a command line switch,
mkdir -p /temp/mynewdomain
cd /temp/mynewdomain
java -Dweblogic.management.GenerateDefaultConfig=true -Dweblogic.management.
password=foobar1234 -Dweblogic.management.username=foobar1234
weblogic.Server
That will start a new server with a brand new defaulted config. You then in
7.0 have to run java weblogic.Admin command to create and set mbean
attributes, this means from shell having to fire up VM over and over, from
ANT you wont have this problem if you fork, but I think weblogic.Admin has a
nasy system.exit in it in 7.0 ( Sorry).
Things are better in 8.1 and in our next release we are in planning stages
for adding an installation step to deployment and allowing an applicaiton to

There are more than one way to do all this, depending on your particular application:
- servlet's init() method, if it's a Web application
- JMX MBeans
- EJB Timer service or some other job scheduling like Quartz
- batch programming (Unix shell + cron, or Win batch)
- etc...
Also, EJB is merely one technology inside the J2EE stack. You can use J2EE without EJB, and in many cases, this is the best option.

The Java Petstore 2.0 has a CAPTCHA (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha for the definition of a CAPTCHA) which is used when a user is uploading a pet for sale to the petstore. The captcha is used to avoid automated graffiti on the community driven content of the petstore. The captcha requires a human to look at the image and type in the words, so it shows this common use case where web sites want to avoid an automated program from being able to post to a site.

Mvc with oracle entity framework

Hi,
I am new to both MVC and Oracle EF...i have installed the necessary components (ODAC beta 3) and tried out the tutorial that oracle has put up and was able to successfully finish it...
Now i want to create a new MVC 3 app (based on MVC Movie tutorial available online) ...
I have a model generated from my oracle database..however when i add a controller in MVC, the controller does not seem to recognize my model..What do i need to do so that controller can recognize the model that i generated from oracle database..????
Is there an example out there that builds an asp.net MVC app using oracle entity framework??

Work on Oracle 11g with VS2010 I installed ODTwithODAC112030.
I have to make a data entry form after the registration of an account.
Can I create an application with MVC and EntityFramework then using Razor for pages CSHTML?.
WHAT HAVE I DONE:
1) Creating the Oracle schema QUESTIONARIO.
2) Execution of InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql
3) Create application with MVC 3
4) Insert the web.config connection parameters

6) The application works and I registered users ORA_ASPNET_USERS etc..
7) I have created the table "Questionnaire" in the DB
8) I have created the Model of table "Questionnaire"
9) I created the corresponding Controller and the Views pages with Razor who created in the "Views/Questionnaire" directory all management pages (Index.cshtml - Create.cshtml - Edit.cshtml - Delete.cshtml)
10) when the application starts tells me I can not open the databasel SQL-Server, I suppose that it work only with SQL Server!! Or did I do something wrong?
11) Then I create the Model from DATABASE using "ADO. NET Entity Data Model"
12) But I did not understand if I can use the EDMX Model to create pages with Razor or with another tool.
13) Is there an automated way to create pages of data management starting from the Model EMDX or do I have to create them all manually?

J2EE application after new start in "prepared" status

Hi all,
we have the problem with J2EE applications. After new start of WLS the application get "prepared" status.
How can I find the reason of the issue?

Is this application ever came to active state?
when you deployed this application intial there might be errors so it never went to active state
when ever you did a restart the application is in prepared state.
try to bring into active and see if your geeting any exceptions.

Is there a way to specify MVC model in a Wizard?

I am fairly new to JDeveloper so forgive me if I ask a stupid question....
In a past web project I used IBM Websphere and Visual Age developing environments. For an upcoming project I am going to be using JDeveloper but with the same basic MVC architecture with the Servlets being the Controllers and JSP as the View. In Websphere there was a wizard that we could use to create a Java Bean based on our SQL statement. Within this wizard we could also select what 'model' we wanted to use and if we chose 'Servlet model' it would not only create the Java Bean but it would also crate the corresponding Servlet, XML file and JSP. All we had to do after that was bring up the JSP in the test environment and everything was hooked together already. If it was a simple select statement then the JSP displayed the results in a table. The JSP could then be facncied up or whatever. What I want to know is if there is something similar to that in JDeveloper. I know there are wizards to create Servlets and JSPs but is there any way to specifiy a 'model' and have everything to connected up without manually going into the code and doing it? I know this is kinda cheating and being lazy but I just wanted to ask if this type of feature existed before going ahead and doing unneccessary work. So if anyone can follow what I am saying and has an answer or perhaps can direct me to some documentation, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

JDeveloper ships with a handy, built-in J2EE application framework called Business Components for Java that provides a full-functionality J2EE MVC model layer for you.

To answer your question about the wizards, you can (in no time flat)

[*]Create a new package of BC4J framework components ("New Business Components Package...")
[*]On the last panel of the BC4J package wizard, you can select existing tables to reverse-engineer into framework data-access and business logic components (view objects and entity objects, respectively)
[*]Then, you can use one of our other wizards to produce, for example, a BC4J+Struts application, a BC4J+JSP application, or a BC4J+JClient/Swing (rich client) application
