  • Shipping options for different countries

Hi, this is the first time using BC's full E-commerce tools, some things are clear, others not so.
I've studied the BC info quite a bit and watched the tutorials videos that I can find but I'm still not clear on this - How do I tie the appropriate shipping option into the country that somebody wants the item delivered to? ie, What is stopping the buyer from selecting the cheapest drop-down shipping option? For example, the site is in NZ, somebody from UK purchases a product, in the Shopping Cart United Kingdom is selected from the Destination Country drop-down, and if I have more than one custom Shipping Option what's to stop the buyer from selecting the cheapest in the Choose Shipping Option drop-down? I can't find how to prevent this from happening.

    Hi Grant,
I'm not so sure that it works so simply like that... there no way to test it outside of flying to another country and using the internet to see if it automatically works like that...
I just assumed that it worked based on users IP, but perhaps not?
Here's the answer i got from support....
"Unfortunately, it would not be possible to automatically set the country and shipping options for the customer based on the location.
You can limit the countries where you deliver, and based on the country selection you can display the shipping options to the customers.
You may go ahead and use the module {module_visitorcountrycode} to identify the country of the visitor, and then use some JavaScript to automatically set the country, and based on that country you can display the shipping options."

  • Shipping Option (UPS,FedEx, Etc.) Listed on Invoice

Is there a way I can take the shipping option the customer chooses when checking out with the BC shopping cart (UPS Ground, Overnight, FexEx, etc) and list it on the emailed invoice? I can't seem to find any tags or see a way to do this, although it seems like a basic option so I'm probably completely missing something
    Thanks

I would like to also find an answer for this and does sound like a basic option. I like to use the emailed invoice as a working order but will be useless unless it states the shipping option. I wouldnt like to have to go into the admin for each order just to find this information. Any ideas's anyone?

  • Shipping Options for Priority Mail

I run an online store via Storenvy that has Pay Pal payments integrated (a bit like eBay).  I am extremely frustrated with Pay Pal's lack of options for shipping, particularly via USPS Priority Mail.  The selections are 'your own packaging,' 'flat rate envelope,' and  'flat rate boxes' of a couple of sizes.  There is no option for flat rate padded envelope, and quite honestly, this is the way I most commonly ship things.  They're the same size as a flat rate normal envelope, just with padding, and it requires about 25 cents more.  Yet, this is not a selection option with Pay Pal.  I don't understand why it isn't.   Is anyone else finding the limited shipping selections to be problematic with their online business?

I looked at my history, and as recently as the middle of July, 2014 I had been rpinting shipping labels for First Class mail/padded envelopes at $1.93 for 3 ounces with tracking from USPS through Pay Pal shipping. All of a sudden, I can only print Priority?? I will be calling their help desk in the morning! Also, I just received payment for a sale of an item on a non-eBay site. Although the buyer is verified on Pay Pal, I get no "safe to ship - Print a shipping label" message. Anyone else having the same issue?

  • Custom image for shipping options

Hey I was wondering if its possible to display a custom image for each shipping option. So for example if you select regular postage, an image of regular postage would be displayed. If you select express postage, same thing. Is this possible with Business Catalyst?
One other thing. Is it possible to have free shipping option for 2 or more of a product, but also have express option if they want it?
    Cheers,
    Garuda

    Hi Garuda,
The image thing would have to be implemented with some JS. You'd listen to the dropdown change and then render the image according to the shipping selection. I unfortunately don't have the code for you that will do this.
As for the free shipping option, you'd need to use a user defined option of $0 rather than the Free Shipping option and then set your weights so that both options are displayed at the same time when 2 or more items are added.
    Cheers,

  • FedEx - auto-select and hide available shipping options

I'm looking to change some of the default shopping cart UI/UX functionality, and I'm assuming this can be done with jQuery - but I figured I'd check here first to make sure as this is a live site and I'd rather not play around too much.
This particular store uses FedEx for shipping, and our feedback so far has been that the fact that a final shipping option turns up at the end is an issue for customers - they usually miss it, and it's just clunky and cumbersome overall.
So I'm hoping that I can somehow have it automatically selected with jQuery and hidden, to show the final shipping amount only. Something like the right-hand side below:
This would then alleviate the need for a pop-up and the extra step checking out.
Has anyone completed this successfully? Is it possible? Would using (.shippingCalc input) as a selector work?
Furthermore - separately - has anyone enabled a zip lookup so that state can be pre-selected for tax calculations?
    Thanks.

Yes drop me a line, I've re-written nearly of this Javascript to auto select based on 1 input. Not done it for Fedex but have done it for the Australia post but the code and UI interface is the same.

  • Best method for Shipping Options in Ecommerce - HELP?

Hello, we are running a eshop that has numerous catalogues (product groups) and due to the nature of the products, some include shipping and others are charged at certain rates.  For example:
    CATALOG 1
    Product 1 - £10.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    Product 2 - £15.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    CATALOG 2
    Product 4 - £5.00 - £19 per item
    Product 5 - £10.00 - £19 per item
    CATALOG 3
    Product 6 - £20.00 - £19 per item
    Product 7 - £25.00 - No shipping/delivery costs
    Product 8 - £20.00 - £13.60 per item
If I order product 1 (no shipping), 2 x product 5 (£19 twice for shipping) and Product 8 (£13.60 shipping).
Is there a way of achieving the correct shipping amount??
I have spoken to chat support, who are as useful as a chocolate tea pot.   Adobe really, really (please) need to sort a better shipping options method - really letting the product down.
Any 'work around' solutions or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I love the 'chocolate teapot' analogy.

  • Shipping Options Packaging Type ? Can I customize my options for package sizes?  Tied with UPS but use own package sizing.

My shipping department uses their own packaging for our products.  Currently I cannot find an option in the shipping options to tie in my package sizes to the shipping packaging options.

  • Customizing the shipping options in the cart?

    Hey Everybody,
I've got a client that just ABSOLUTELY does not like the way that the "integrated" shipping options are displayed. Currently if you have USPS and FEDEX both as shipping options. A user would have select one of the two from a dropdown, then enter the zip code and then select an option from a radio button. If  the user does not like those shipping options then they have to go back to the drop down - select the other option, then re-enter their zip code and look at the other shipping options.
What I am wondering is - is it possible for a user to NOT select the shipping type from the drop down, but simply enter their zip code and see ALL the shipping options that are available in radio list form? Is it possible to ping both the USPS and FEDEX api to calculate shipping cost at the same time?
I so hope that someone has done this. or has some kind of a work around. I am currently stumped on this one. We have revised the cart about 11 times now, and still my client is not happy with the way that business catalyst is set up to function in the shipping options area.

@Case and Carl Design: Sure thing, here are two sites I did, one with a suburb to shipping cost calculator and one with a post / ZIP code lookup to shipping cost calculator.

  • Auto Select Available Shipping Options

After a user enters a zip code they must choose an Available Shipping Options. In my case I am only offering one shipping option and would prefer this to be auto-selected for them to ease the process. I have attempted the following code but it did not work:
         var $radios = $('input:radio');
         $('#shippingPostcode').change(function() {
             $radios.trigger('click');
How would I auto-select the only option available?
    Thanks!

Yes drop me a line, I've re-written nearly of this Javascript to auto select based on 1 input. Not done it for Fedex but have done it for the Australia post but the code and UI interface is the same.

  • Shipping option not showing in shopping cart

For some reason, on my shopping cart, the shipping options are not showing.
    Site: Home Page
Products with all elements entered: Candy Apples, Caramel Apples, Monster Apples
I have added 2 FedEx options, all with the correct information from FedEx entered
I have added all dimensions to the "Apples" in the products
If you try and "Check Out", it goes straight to acting like the user is buying a "Gift Voucher"
I really need help as this is the last true item I need fixed before finishing the site.

    Hi
    Try this.
Go to Site Manager > Module Templates ->Online Shop Layouts -> Shopping Cart
    Locate the {tag_shippingoptions}
    Change like this {tag_shippingoptions,true}, save.
Refresh the shopping cart now, you should see the option to select shipping
To see more option, Refer to this article Business Catalyst Help | Add shipping options to your online store
Do let me know if you have any question.

  • BC shipping options WORKAROUND

    BC shipping options WORKAROUND
Customer has 100's of large heavy products that would need to be shipped using (LTL) FedEx Freight Services. The existing FedEx Freight Services in BC eCommerce is limited to 2 and 3 days and under 65lb.  FedEx offers all the freight options needed but they are not in the BC shipping options.
Looks like the BC API for FedEx is for little products only.
    What am I missing?
    Is there a WORKAROUND?
can I create custome API account with the user defined option?

Your best bet would probably to set a price for those products as $0.00 or 0 in whatever currency your site uses.  Then, on your checkout page you can use some jQuery/javascript to sense if there are any products in the cart that have $0.00 and you can then hide the checkout button and show the get quote button which will force the user to get a quote instead.  Then, you client will receive a notification of a quote that's been generated and they can update it to include the custom shipping cost manually in the BC Admin and resend it as an invoice for that customer.

  • Office 2013 removed grammar & writing style options for Portuguese (Brazil) language

The pt-br (Portuguese - Brazil) proofing tools for Office 2010 included many grammar options but apparently these have been removed in Office 2013. Pt-pt (Portuguese - Portugal) still retains these options for some reason. I asked about this issue on the
Microsoft Community forum and the forum moderator confirmed that the Brazilian Portuguese Office 2013 spell checker does indeed lack these features.
I know that the pt-br proofing tools was designed by Itautec Brazil. So I contacted the project leader and she answered me as follows:
" Someone from Itautec contacted Microsoft and they answered: “Microsoft has now replaced all of the above features with our own versions - we do not intend to ship the Itautec features with any new Microsoft product.”"
I would like use Office 2013, but I cannot work without a robust Brazilian Portuguese spell checker. Is using Office 2010 my only option?

You can go to this page and click Download button to download Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 - Portuguese (Brazil):

  • Windows 7 upgrade: discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?

I would like to know whether the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?  I called Mentor today and was told the answer is no, but I was hoping someone here could tell me differently.
If "no" is truly the answer, I would like to voice my complaint: The upgrade discs from Microsoft (i.e. the retail upgrade discs) include both the 32 and 64-bit versions, so I don't completely understand why Lenovo's upgrade program doesn't offer the same thing.  I purchased my T500 in August, and back then Vista Ultimate 64 was not offered, so I chose Vista Ultimate 32 thinking that I could later upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64.  This assumption was based off of the info. on Microsoft's website indicating that all upgrades would contain the 32 and 64-bit versions.  I even customized my computer with 4 gigs of RAM thinking that I could take advantage of the extra gig once I installed Windows 7 64.
I don't understand what Lenovo or Mentor Media have to gain by restricting a 32 to 64-bit install.  I voiced this opinion to Mentor Media over the phone, who responded by saying that I should be happy since I am receiving a "free" upgrade.  I don't think this is an accurate assessment for two reasons: (1) I had to pay $17.03 for shipping, and I still haven't received the upgrade and (2) The total cost of my computer was almost $3,000, and the purchase was made a mere few weeks before Windows 7 was released.  $3,000 is a lot of money.  I waited for the details of the Windows 7 Upgrade Program to be announced BEFORE purchasing my machine.  When I finally bought my computer I accounted Windows 7 into the price I was paying.  In addition, when I bought this computer I did so expecting good customer service as a given.  Not providing a 64-bit upgrade without a rational explanation as to why does not qualify as appropriate customer service.
As most of you know, 4 gigs of RAM is useless with a 32-bit OS.  Also, NOW Lenovo is building new T500s with the option of having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (why wasn't Vista Ultimate 64 offered when I bought my computer???).  And the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 is EQUAL to the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 64, which proves that there is no cost difference.  I just want to know what Lenovo has to gain by denying customers a 64-bit upgrade?  There would really be no additional cost since as I mentioned before, Microsoft's retail upgrade includes the 32 and 64-bit OS on one disc.  If anything I would think that it's costing Lenovo money to strip the 64-bit install from the upgrade discs.
Can anyone please address my problems?  Do you think there is anyone at Lenovo I could contact to voice my opinions?  I have been a loyal Thinkpad customer for over 5 years now, and I expect better from Lenovo.  Thank you for reading!
moderator note: core question add to title, as stated in the forum rules and it will help others too answer your questions.

Is there any way to request a 64-bit OEM?  Why should Lenovo care whether I want a 32-bit or 64-bit as long as it's the same edition (Ultimate edition)?
if your system shipped with a 32-bit version of vista then you will be sent 32-bit windows 7 upgrade media.   the reason for this is two-fold.
first, because this is upgrade media, it's impossible to install a 64-bit version of windows over a 32-bit version.   doing so would require a clean installation and upgrade media simply won't allow this.   this is the case with retail media, too.   if you had 32-bit vista installed and wanted to upgrade it to 64-bit using retail media, you'd have to wipe your system or set up a dual-boot.
second, the COA (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom of your system is for vista.   because of this, your new license is of an upgrade from vista to 7.   this is how microsoft licenses it and it is their policy, not lenovo's.   microsoft's policy with OEMs is that you must install vista first, then upgrade to 7 (unless, of course, you purchased your system native with 7 on or after the 22nd).   since your original lenovo preload is of a 32-bit OS, the issue becomes circular and you'll have to refer again to the first reason.
i understand your frustration and wish this stuff were made easier for everyone.   it's repetative reading post after post of people with 4GB installed who don't understand the limitations of a 32-bit environment.   i wish both manufacturers and users switched to 64-bit OSes sooner.   the same thing happened when the industry went from 16-bit windows 3.11 to 32-bit windows NT4/95 and limitations went from 16KB all the way up to 4GB (which, in 1995, no one thought we'd ever exceed).   the difference is that people were complaining on BBSes over 14.4k modems instead of on GUI-based forums using broadband connections.   times sure have changed.

  • What are the different options for implementing web security?

    Hi,
Right now I am working on an internet website. We are using JSP for presentation and running Weblogic Application Server. I want to know different options for implementing website security. One of the options that I am aware of is to use LDAP. But we donot want to go and buy a LDAP Directory Server now. So I would really appreciate if somebody could let me know my choices here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you are working on a Windows 2000 platform, the most obvious choice would be Active Directory Server as this is shipped free with Server 2000. It is LDAP compliant, although does have a few differences that set it apart from the other X500 standard based solutions which I will mention in a moment. Details on these differences can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnactdir/html/msdn_activedirvsnds.asp
Other options are openldap, an open source implementation of an ldap server or iPlanet's Directory Server. If you are initially doing an evaluation, a trial version is available of the iPlanet software and can be downloaded from their site. I found this particularly easy to get to grips with and their is excellent documentation available. There is also an offering from Novell, but I have no experience of this.
    Hope this helps.
    Jon
