Shockwave Flash may be busy... BLAH BLAH BLAH... HOW can I fix this?

I am SOOOOOO sick of this issue.  I have posted asking for help,  advice and etc... in many different sites including THIS ONE, and no one  seems to know how to fix this. For about the last month or so, I have  had a problem with my adobe flash, or shockwave flash or what ever the  hell you want to call it. I say this last part because I have been told  they are the same, and I have been told they are different. Here is a  screen shot of the damn pop up box I keep getting, it also shows how I  am also often told that I need to install adobe flash to view something  even though I DO have it installed already.
The  issue: It seems like every couple of mins at times, my browser will  freeze, then after a few seconds to mins, I get the above shown pop up  box about my unresponsive plugin. Usually when I click the continue  button, after a few mins the page continues to work. This usually only  lasts a few mins before it freezes again and I get the pop up box AGAIN.  Sometimes it stays unfrozen for a while, and I have no issues but this  is very rare.  Now if I click the stop plugin option, this usually makes  adobe flash crash altogether, and I have to refresh everything.  Sometimes my page does not unfreeze at all, even after clicking the  continue button, my browser does not unfreeze, and I have to open my  task manager, and shut it all down manually. As for the other issue,  where I am told I have to download adobe flash to view something, this  does not happen EVERY time I try viewing something, but it does happen, I  would say maybe 2-8 times out of 10 it happens. It has happened while  trying to view videos, commercials I get while playing games sometimes,  or many other things, I am saying this because I want to make sure you  understand it is NOT just when I am on facebook or something, I just  happened to take the screenshot above while on FB when it happened this  most recent time to make this post here with.
Ok  so I have tried a LOT of things to fix this. I more then once tried  uninstalling and then reinstalling adobe flash, I did so following the  instructions for a CLEAN INSTALL as I was directed by someone else to  try. In case the issue was something to do with my anti virus, or fire  wall or etc... I have also tried uninstalling, then reinstalling while  my windows firewall was turned OFF, as well as my anti virus turned off.  I have tried uninstalling my browsers as well, then reinstalling them  AFTER reinstalling adobe.
According  to the flash checker thing on the adobe site itself, I DO have the most  current version installed, I also checked the page to see if it was  supposed to be working properly, and according to your site it said my  adobe flash WAS working fine, the images and etc... displayed fine. All  of my browsers and etc... are also ALL up to date. I have made sure that  ALL of my adobe products are up to date, the reader, active x,  shockwave, etc...
I  have tried everything and yet I still keep getting this message box,  and often enough I get the message saying adobe needs to be installed to  view something. I had not installed anything, nor had I made any  changes to my comp or system prior to this problem starting, though if I  am not mistaken, I think I HAD just upgraded to the newest version OF  adobe at the time, this was over a month ago now...
I  also want to add, so that I don't start getting suggestions to do so...  I do not have a virus on my comp. I have checked and rechecked my  system using a few different programs like windows defender,  malwarebytes, my anti virus Avast!, Spybot Search & Destroy,  Microsoft Safety Scanner and possibly other ones as well, and none of  them have ever found any malware, adware, or viruses.
As  for my system and info: I mostly use firefox (yes most recent version),  however recently I did download and try using Google Chrome in order to  find out if this was a firefox issue or something, as someone suggested  once. I encountered the SAME pop up box, and message while using Google  Chrome, as well as while using IE, which tells me even more this is not  a "browser" problem, but more an adobe/shockwave/flash or whatever  problem. I have windows 7 home premium on my comp, it is the 64-bit  operating system.

The  site will NOT let me post in the  "flash player" forum. When I open the  list of forums to post in, I see  flash player listed, but it is grey  in color and you can not click on  it. Under the scroll box that gives  you the choices of forums to post  your question in you see this:
"Why are some locations grayed out?                                                This means that you can view content in these locations, but may not   have access to post to them. Or, the content type you've chosen is not   available there (i.e. trying to put a blog post in a project where  blogs  are turned off). Also to move content to "Your documents",  "Private  discussions" or "Your Videos" you have to be the author."
So   tell me HOW the hell am I supposed to post in that forum, when it is   not letting me?  I have had   this problem since back in April, I have tried posting to get help and   all I get is complaints I posted in the wrong place, and it is the SITE   that is not letting me post in the right place.

my app store will not open. when i try to open it i get an error that reads "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete". How can I fix this?

I am having the exact same problem.  MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple.  After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged."  There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon.  Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion).  Did not work.  I also updated the software from "Software Update".  Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was.  I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas?  Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)

Just did some more reading.  I was going by the icon in the dock.  When I checked in Finder, there it was, fixed and brand new!!  Thanks, anyway.

  • I have to reload a webpage to make a Flash Object in IE7 WinXP SP3. How can i fix this problem?

    Hello:
When I want to navigate a webpage that contains a flash object, the Internet Explorer show the icon that the page contains an error, if I relod the page, the page now doesn't show the error and the Flash objects work well. This occurs recently, some weeks ago, I didn't have that problem. How can I fix this problem?
    I'm using Win XP SP3, IE8 and Flash 14.0.0.145
I tried to uninstall the 14 version and installed the 13 version but the problem persists.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

  • My Flash Player is "out-of-process." How can I fix this.

    Good Morning,
I have the latest version of Flash Player and am running it in Google Chrome. Have been trying to play Facebook games but they do not function properly. I have tried several times to delete the data but this does not help. However when I go into my control panel to delete I see a message that the version of Flash that I have is not compatible with Chrome. And when I go into Chrome:plugins I see the Player but in Parenthesis it says: out-of -process. Could one of these be my problem or would it be something else. Here is a description of how the games function. Most of them run slowly. One in particular, Gardens of Time, tends to freeze. I then must get out of the game and go back in. Hopefully someone can help me fix this! Thank you.

Flash Player for Chrome is a built-in component of Chrome.  There's nothing separate to install or manage.  It's also totally isolated from the control panel stuff.  Out-of-process is a good thing (this means that Flash can crash without taking the whole browser down), and is how it's supposed to work.
So it sounds like there's a crash on the game.  It's probably that Flash is just running out of memory.  If you have 32-bit Chrome (it will say on that About Chrome screen), you might want to uninstall Chrome entirely.  You should get the 64-bit version of Chrome on the next download.  Depending on how much RAM your computer has, this may improve the situation significantly.
You might also be able to work around the issue using a different browser.  Each major browser uses a significantly different variant of Flash Player, so it might be specific to Chrome.  Either way, it's an interesting data point.
I'd like to try and reproduce the hang that you're describing, but it would be helpful to narrow things down a bit -- if you could give me some more details about your computer and browser, that would be really helpful:

  • Flash player crashes all the time. How can I fix this?

This is driving me crazy!! This happens too many times where I will be on a website with Flash and Firefox will pop up this message saying that the Flash player script has crashed and if I want to keep it on or turn it off. Basically what is happening is the flash player is crashing and it happens way too many times. I've done everything! Updating the flash player, resetting Firefox...nothing is working. Yes, I do have the latest version of Firefox.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. (you may have done this already)
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Flash keeps crashing every five minutes. How can I fix this?

Adobe Flash Player crashes very frequently and generates an error to the effect that the plug-in is not working.

Which Firefox has this problem: Android or Windows?
For Android, Adobe's really not supporting Flash any more, so it is what it is.
For Windows, there are many possible reasons for the problem. This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable hardware acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
That takes effect the next time you exit and start Firefox up again.
    (B) In Flash, right-click the media and choose Settings, then the first mini-tab and uncheck the box to use hardware acceleration. More information in this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista and higher)
The protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078 (alternate version of Carm's batch file with a few changes by me: [https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=f7d304d92388737d&id=F7D304D92388737D!336&ithint=file,.bat&authkey=!AP2FXW2Y_3BXZyo])
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.
    Any improvement?

  • Unresolved/Unresolvable Shockwave Flash Compatibility Issues - "shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding..."

As an early adopter (and champion) of Firefox, it is with great sadness that after more than 10 years I find that I will need to un-install Firefox and move to another browser due to your ongoing compatibility issues with Shockwave Flash (a page freeze with an eventual pop-up message saying "shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding..." on any and every page that has flash content). It has made my browsing experience horrible for more than half a month, and I've invested more than a week trying to address it. I started with all of the tweaky recommendations from your support site, Adobe's support site and many 3rd party sites; then a Firefox reset, and then eventually moved on to complete clean re-installations of Firefox and Adobe. Nothing fixed the issue. And it is an issue that doesn't occur on other browsers like IE, Opera and Chrome. Frankly it just shouldn't be this hard, and I believe you should be addressing it head on. I see from many online forums and your support site that I am far from alone. Do a quick Google search of "Firefox, shockwave flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding" if you actually need to confirm this. I am using modern hardware (HP laptop with an i7 processor) and a major, supported OS (Windows7 64-bit). I hope for your sake you get it figured out. If you do, feel free to let me know... I might consider coming back, though frankly this may just be a sign that the Mozilla of old is no more. It makes me sad for both of us.

Strangely I tried all the suggested fixes for the problems of Script errors especially related to adobe. In addition when I clicked the firefox icon it took a long time to load. None of the suggested fixes in the forum has changed or fixed either of these 2 problems.
Yesterday I entered services.msc and changed all of my microsoft network services and services related to my adapor that said manual to automatic. I did this unrelated to firefox but because my network/wifi was connecting slowly when I booted up my computer. I then rebooted my computer.
To my surprise not only did my wifi connect faster but firefox now loads normally and all the script error messages related to adobe have disappeared. Firefox has worked perfectly now for 2 days.
For my individual situation my firefox problems were all related to network services being set to manual rather then automatic. How this effects firefox is unknown to me but must somehow be related to how firefox is accessing the network.

  • Shockwave Flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding error. Can the Mozilla team fix this for Firefox 34?

Hello people, sometimes I would get the message "Shockwave Flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding". There is no way I can fix this. I have tried Google and they don't show tutorials on how to permanently fix this. What year is this? 2002? Not it's not. It's almost 2015. Can you please fix this for Firefox 34 or newer?

Shockwave Flash is an Adobe product - it's up to them to fix it. All we can do here at Mozilla Support is offer suggestions that have worked for us and other users.
    Have you tried Adobe Support?

I had the same problem. I found that if you go to the link below and scroll down to is shockwave working. Then click onto the first blue sentence-link to see if you have it installed or not. If not, click onto the button for downloading Shockwave. Once completed, go into Firefoxes ADD-ONS. Look up shockwave DIRECTOR and enable it. For good measure, I went into CONTROL PANEL on my 'puter. Then into add programs. Then to shockwave BUT I clicked onto PROPERTIES and made sure that it was UNBLOCKED and certificate installed. No problems to date to report.https://helpx.adobe.com/shockwave/kb/shockwave-player-faq.html#main_Troubleshooting

I wanted this fixed for Firefox 34, but nope. It still crashes with "Shockwave Flash may be busy" and I am getting sick of hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete to go to the task manager and ending firefox.exe. It's not the 1990's anymore. It's 2015.

WARNING! Your Flash Player may be out of date.   how can i solve this problem/

The Flash update alerts are fake, and are intended to mislead you into installing malware and/or to steal your identity. They're the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to well-known websites such as Google and YouTube are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert a paper clip and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
Then go through the initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
    1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option.
    2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits.Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed.
    3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set another strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.

When trying to open iphoto I get the error message "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete." How do I fix this and get my photo's back?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.
