Short dump in extract checker (RSA3)

Hi,
While extracting the structure 2LIS_11_VAITM in RSA3, it's going to dump and giving the message in dump is 'The data type is "N" in the dataset, but "C" in the program. '.
The back ground is First I enhanced this structure with one Z field of data type NUMC18 and later changed this data type to CHAR18 and activated. Also replicated in BW side and it is CHAR18 in BW. But in RSA3 it's giving dump.
Please let me know regarding this.

Thanks for your reply. The source field is also CHAR18. Actually the source field is changed fron NUMC18 to CHAR18 in R/3. That's the reason why I changed it to CHAR18 in the structure and activated. I think some where it's not getting updated to 'C' from 'N. Any idea I am missing something somewhere?

I suppose that you are doing enhancement to your datasource 2LIS_02_ITM
Have you done the following steps in the extractor:
1. Append the new field in MC02M_0ITM structure
2. Append the new field in MCEKPO structure
3. Use Tcode LBWE and expand the Purchsing to get 2LIS_02_ITM and click on the Datasource to uncheck the 'hide' and 'fields only'
4. Activate the data source, by using Tcode RSA5
3. After that I have make changes to the user-exit to add logic for the new field
Do remember to carry out the following steps before you modify the Extraction structure:
1. Make sure that the following steps are carried out at a time when no updates are performed so that no data is lost.
2. Start the update collective run directly from within the Customizing Cockpit. Up to PI(-A) 2001.2 , this collective run exclusively concerns the V3 update. As of PI(-A) 2002.1, depending on the update mode setting of the application, the collective run concerns either the V3 update or the update from the extraction queue ("Delta Queued", see Note 505700).
3. Load all data of the respective DataSource into the BW System.

EXTRACT CHECKER (RSA3) DISPLAY

Hi gurus-
When I use rsa3 to check the extraction and display the records, the column headings are the descriptions. How can I changes these to technical names of the fields. I have few custom fileds and some of those have same name as the previous fields hence I can not distinguish them.
When I try the display of single record, even in there it shows descriptions.

- When you see the list of records in RSA3, Click on "Current Layout" Button in toolbar (or press CTRL + F8)
- On the left side of pop up window, you will get columns displayed with their position and lenth.
- Here Increase the length for the Fields for which you want to see technical names.
May be you can put length as 20 or 25 for those fields
-Click Copy and you will be able to see technical names in bracket.

Extraction Checker RSA3

Hi,
I created a generic DataSource using a function module and i'm testing it using RSA3. I'm trying to extract the records by specifying a range of values for a field in the DataSource , but RSA3 extracts all the records without considering the specified values.
Can anyone please let me what could be the problem and how to extract only the specified range of values in RSA3

Hello,
In your function module did you specify the ranges and use it on the your initial SELECT statement?
An example (code available at RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE)
Ranges:
      LOOP AT S_S_IF-T_SELECT INTO L_S_SELECT WHERE FIELDNM = 'CARRID'.
        MOVE-CORRESPONDING L_S_SELECT TO L_R_CARRID.
        APPEND L_R_CARRID.
      ENDLOOP.
      LOOP AT S_S_IF-T_SELECT INTO L_S_SELECT WHERE FIELDNM = 'CONNID'.
        MOVE-CORRESPONDING L_S_SELECT TO L_R_CONNID.
        APPEND L_R_CONNID.
      ENDLOOP.
Select with ranges:
      OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD S_CURSOR FOR
      SELECT (S_S_IF-T_FIELDS) FROM SFLIGHT
                               WHERE CARRID IN L_R_CARRID AND
                                     CONNID IN L_R_CONNID.
Try also to put a break-point in your function module, at SELECT statement line, to see how your function is making the DB call.

Today we got short dump in R/3 for delta extraction of data source
2LIS_13_VDITM.We want these data to do month end analysis.
I have tried to run extraction checker (rsa3) still it gives me short
dump for the same.

and bw 3.5

Short Dump due to TIME_OUT Error

Hi,
We have a situation here, where the monthly data from R/3 is extracted to ODS (Full upload) and subsequently getting uploaded to infocube (Delta). Usually the ODS to infocube updation takes long hours of time (say 8 hours), because of complexity of the update rules over the cube and this was working fine for the past months.
But on 1st of this month when I extracted R/3 data went fine upto ODS, but failed in the further process (i.e., ODS to Infocube) resulting in a short dump. Extract is shown below

Diagnosis
The data update was not completed. A short dump has probably been logged in BW providing information about the error.
System response
"Caller 70" is missing.
Further analysis:
Search in the BW short dump overview for the short dump belonging to the request. Pay attention to the correct time and date on the selection screen.
You get a short dump list using the Wizard or via the menu path "Environment -> Short dump -> In the Data Warehouse".
So I want to try out with another option, Since we know the data coming to ODS on a monthly basis, instead of pushing the data to infocube in delta mode, can I upload the data using full update (but of course weekly wise) to cube ?.
What will be the complications?.

Did you follow this recommendation? Did you check the short dump?
If it is really a time_out issue, the short dump will tell you so, but there can also be other causes for caller 70 missing.
It is a time_out you can either increase your time out setting, or decrease the package size in your infopackages;

A short dump is an program error because of which the process terminates. It is notified and can be viewed in t-code ST22 on a particular usernaem where you can analyze the reason for short dump.

Short Dump GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED while calling Transaction launcher in IC_WEB

We have a problem with Transaction Launcher profile in IC web client , after support pack implementation when i launch few R/3 transaction in Web client profile getting short dump.
when i check ST22 transaction , i found these information in Dump.

The current ABAP program "CL_CRM_IC_ABOX_ABSTRACT_URL===CP" had to be

we came to know below method not executing properly .
CL_CRM_IC_ABOX_ABSTRACT_URL method IF_CRM_IC_ACTION_HANDLER~GET_ACTION_PROPERTY
and also for

Short dump while calling RFC

Hi people,
I have developed a function module in R/3 system and wants to access it in BW system. While checking syntax, it do not give any error. But when I try to execute the function module in BW, I get short dump saying please check the name of the Function Module in SE37.
The call of RFC is like :

Attribute change run process type failed with short dump

Hi all,
In the process chain Attribute change run process type failed with short dump. I checked the locks in SM12 but there are no locks associated. I checked in the attribute change run screen through RSA1 -> infoobject list but there are no infoobjects there. I think the ACR was completed successfully, still the process type in the PC was in red colour. What to do and let me know what happened here.

1. This kind of scenario is extremely rare but it happens sometimes. It might be the case that 2 attribute change runs are running at the same time.
2. Same IO is being used in Differnet PC and getting activated.
I think if this frequently occurs you need to check at the time of locking all running jobs and see whether anywhere else or simultaneously 2 ACR are running.

Types of Short dumps.

Hi Gurus,
When there is short dump is there a systematic procedure to solve the short dump apart from checking in ST22 so that we specify this short dump is error due to BAsis or due to BW .
Is there any thing that?
Please share some knowledge regarding short dumps?

For sure its not always R/3 or its not always due to data.
BW: Dump due to Transformation code.
BAsis: Dump due to less table space.But having said its always hard for to identify if its due to table space or due to transformation so if you know how to identify them ,i would appreciate ur help

Hi SD,
The 11_Vaitm is a LO datasource, before checking its data setup tables need to be filled for it.
For filling the setup tables, first you have to delete the existing setup table data and ensure all the delta queues are empty.
Delete the setup tables: Go to TCODE LBWG and in the application give 11 and execute.
Delete all entries in Delta Queue, TCODE RSA7 for application 11.
Delete the entries in logistic queue: Check in TCODE SMQ1, if there are any entries for application .
Refill the setup tables: SBIW -> Settings for application specific datasources -> Logistics -> anaging extract strucutre -> Initilization -> Filling the setup table ->Application specific setup of data -> SD-Sales order perform setup.
Then try RSA3. Hope it helps.

Short Dump Error when we check the Data Source in RSA3

        Since I don't have much knowledge in ABAP, Please help me out regarding this issue. Suggest me possible solution and let me know if you need any further information.

Hi,
Try adding a TRY CATCH block in the extractor function module to catch the exception.
For the type mismatch you will have to make sure the variables are of same type or they can be type converted.
Use the debug mode of RSA3 to find what data is being exchanged.
You will need to change your extractor to avoid the dump.. or ensure that the value being passed to that object is correctly being passed(correct format)

Try this SAP note Note 498484 - BW extraction: Mult. delta records with qRFC 6.20.043
It may fixe your problem, the problem is due to the reason LUWs are extracted from another qRFC outbound queue.This problem usually results in a termination of the delta extraction in the source system or a component of the transfer structure having an incorrect data format in BW (for example, due to the runtime error BCD_BADDATA).
The extraction process may terminate in the RSC2_QOUT_READ_DATA function module with the MESSAGE_TYPE_X runtime error.The message for this runtime error is SY097 'Abnormal termination after an error'.The termination prevents you from loading incorrect data into the BW.

System Throws short dump while executing data source 2LIS_11_VASCL in RSA3.

I got short dump while executing data source 2LIS_11_VASCL in RSA3.
The details are as follow.
When importing object "MC11VA0SCL_TAB", the structure did not match the
structure of the target object. The error occurred in component
no. 567.
This may be due to one of the following reasons:
- the structure is actually different (the next field has, for
example, a different data type) or
- the same sequence of components were exported and imported,
but the fields were from other include units.
I have checked source and target fields and those are of same length and data type.
Could you please give some points why this short dump occurs.

Hi,
This error is not between BI and R/3. It is within R/3. You may have setup data and then modified the datasource.
Delete setup data, generate your datasource again. Setup data and try again.
If you are on a live system with data setup after a downtime and you do not want to delete it, then bring your datasource to the original state when you setup data and pull data.
