Shortcut for Place

See title. Most other Adobe programs have a shortcut for Place.
Is there a shortcut I'm not aware of that's not noted at File > Place... ?

I don't think there is one because I've had to assign my own. I use Cmd+1.

Is it possible to create a keyboard shortcut for "Export book to PDF"? (Cannot find it in the Keyboard Shortcuts window.)

I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut for the "Export Book to PDF" command on the Books panel menu, but I simply can't find that command in Keyboard Shortcuts. After not finding it in what seemed the logical place (Keyboard Shortcuts > Product Area: Panel Menus > Book), I've looked through all the Product Areas listed on the dropdown menu -- but it seems I must be missing something.
What do I need to do / where do I need to look to assign a keyboard shortcut for this command?

Sorry, I agree that that is missing in action. I don't know of a workaround unless someone has written a script. Scripts can be called with keystrokes.

Keyboard shortcut for disclosure triangle?

Hi All,
Is there a keyboard shortcut to open and close disclosure triangles in Aperture?
Sometimes, and I don't know why, Aperture will recursively open a folder in my library pane. I'd like to be able to close them all again with keystrokes instead of the monotonous 15+ disclosure clicks I need (and also maybe find out how I did it in the first place).

Thanks for the shortcut. I was unaware of the "expand all" keyboard/mouse combination.
I'm still wondering, though if there is a keyboard shortcut to work on one level of disclosure triangles. I.e., when this accidental "open all" occurs on a project on which I am working, can I use keyboard shortcuts to zip through "n-1" projects/albums and close them each? It appears the finder shortcut for that ({Ctrl}-{left arrow} and {Ctrl}-{right arrow}) are disabled in Aperture.
I guess it's pretty easy to "collapse all" with keyboard/mouse combonation and then expand the top level with mouse and then expand one project under (again with mouse). However, I'm a keyboard kind of guy looking for my optimal solution.

All well and good, but how do you get the screen back when you are confronted by a call menu - "if you want billing, press 1, if you want tech service, press 2. To hear these options again, press 3." I created a shortcut for this command, but only works if I open the "print" window and the "PDF" menu on it, so it is not useful, how can I make a shorcut that works in any place or moment in Pages?

I linked a shortcut to
menu > Share > Send by Mail > PDF
To do that I selected PDF in the prefPane Keyboard > Shortcuts > Pages
I used cmd + ctrl + shift + P
I retrieved it active after quitting Pages.

System Preferences->Keyboard; Keyboard Shortcuts is the place to go to add shortcuts to any application.
Select Application Shortcuts and add yours there.

Shortcut for Paste Special+Match Destination Formatting in MS excel on OSX Mavericks

Hi,
I am wondering if someone can help me create a keyboard shortcut for 'paste special -> matching destination formatting' into MS excel 2011. I realise this isn't the most ideal situation (not being a mac app), but it's what I have, and I have a lot of text to copy in, so i'd love to create a workaround if possible.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.5 on a 2010 Macbook Pro. I've tried various options that I've found on the net for previous versions of OSX, but none have worked for Mavericks, and I can't find any information on this that was posted after 2012.
I am willing to experiment with a macro, but I have no experience with them so I don't really know what I'm doing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help / advice.

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that I've tried to create a keyboard shortcut in both excel and through systems preferences, however to no avail. In excel there is a keyboard shortcut in place for 'paste special', however there is no option to move past this into paste special options. I am starting to think perhaps this isn't available because there is no menu command for it directly, rather a popup box appears with paste special options. But it is so tedious to click this every time you want to paste.

Shortcut for Scripts... Menu Bar Item

Is it possible to add a shortcut to the Scripts... menu item in Photoshop CC 2014?
I have not been able to figure this out.

I place a shortcut to my Photoshop Scripts tree into each Photoshop version Preset\Scripts folder to link all version to my Photoshop scripts. CS2, CS6 x32 and x64, CC x32 and x64 and CC 2014 all six Photoshop version use use the same script files.
For short cut keys I have to edit each Photoshop version keyboard Shortcuts or Create Photoshop Actions that use my scripts and assign shortcut key to these actions. While the Actions may sound stupid. They are all in a single Action set. Its much easier to load that action set into each version of Photoshop then to edit each Photoshop version shortcut keys and adding all the shortcuts or maintain Names sets of saved Photoshop shortcuts for both Script and other personal Photoshop shortcut keys. Well it is for my feeble mind. If Photoshop versions were more compatible one would not need so many versions installed....

Home screen shortcut for speed dial

You know, in the end this is a phone and when i want to place a call it will be in a speed dail mode
and i like to manage the speed dial in groups/folders but i have no way to do this in this phone without buying an app..
how lame is this phone no to support outof the box creating a shortcuts for "direct call" of a person and then i could group them in a floder like i want ...
this phone OS is lame .. very remind me the iPhone that also don't have this only Android understand the usage of a PHONE!!!!

Shortcuts for case structure manipulation?

Hello all. I'm curious if there are keyboard shortcuts for duplicating cases or deleting cases in a case structure. I'm also interested if any of you have any tips or secrets to working with large case structures - LabVIEW mods that enable a storyboard-style case structure reorganizer, for example.

Yes that is handy for enums with a handful of values.
The other feature I like about enumerated cases is the ability to NOT have a default case.
When this is the situation, LV will remind me that I have not coded up all of the cases in the event I missed one.
This is very handy in applications where you have a bunch ( 100 or more) of enum values.
If at a later date I decide that I need to add enum value #101 then I edit the typedef and then LV reminds of all the places I have to go and fix.
Just a different approach for a different challenge.

No Delete button: No shortcut for emptying cache?

Hi
I'm trying to find an easy way for my customers to clear their cache.
Now, what to do with Macbooks etc without a true Delete (Del) button? Since the usual shortcut for clearing the cache involves the Del button (all browsers), must I instruct all my users to go through all the menues?
Or is there another shortcut available?

Thanks for that, yea, that gave me a new option, - but then this thread is evidence that its placement is not directed at the Safari-newbs, and that's my problem, as a supporter.
In this case, I will still direct users to use Safari -> Reset Safari... -> Remove all data from websites, because it's simpler than having to first direct them to, and then convince them to enable 'developer tools'.
I think that if developers were more in touch with supporters, they wouldn't hide an essential troubleshooting shortcut like that!
I'm happy a kind of consistency has developed among various browser developers (crt+shift+delete), but then, Apple removed the Del button, which kinda ruins it for the non-Safari users, and hid their own unique cache-shortcut for developers only.
Call me professionally damaged, but this has become a per peeve, please developers, find a common solution for this.

Disabling Keyboard Shortcuts for LDAP Accounts -Workgroup Manager...

I work in a school and all our students are on LDAP accounts. Recently some of the kids realized that hitting Ctrl-Opt-CMD-8 inverts the screen display. You wouldn't believe the amount of havoc this has created at school, especially when they do it to a kid’s account that doesn't know how to fix it.
Keyboard and Mouse are NOT one of the items under preferences for either groups or accounts in Workgroup Manager. Does anyone know if there is a way around this, or an alternate way of getting rid of the keyboard shortcuts for Universal Access, for either groups or accounts?

Within the Workgroup Manager pane for Preferences, there is an option to manage Universal access. Within that section, there is a tab for 'Options'. You will want to change that management to 'Always' and leave the box for 'Allow Universal Access Shortcuts' UNchecked. This will, in effect, disable the usage of the shortcuts for a User or a selected Group account.

Is there a shortcut for fading audio to zero and back up between two clips?

I'm trying to determine if there is a shortcut for this situation in FCP 5...
You have two audio clips butted adjacent to each other.
You want the first clip to fade down to zero (i.e. silence).
You want the second clip to fade up from zero.
So basically you have a split second of silence between the two clips.
The video equivalent would be touching black for a second between the
two clips. You can use the "Fade In Fade Out Dissolve" to do it fast.
I realize you can accomplish this audio manuvers with 4 keyframes and the pen tool. I know you can also put an audio transisions on the end of each clip. There are a bunch of ways of getting there, but is there a really
fast way like the "Fade In Fade Out Video dissolve" or a keyboard shortcut?

When I need to do somethig like that I make sure there at least a 1 frame gap between the two and ad audio transitions on the end of clip 1 and the beginning of clip 2.
