Shorting on non database table

Hi experts,
Currently my form contains a non database block. It is populated by a cursor loop. Now the requirement is there should be a button which should short a perticular column of the non data base table . The related information should be also changed.
For example
If there are three columns in the non database block table ( empno,ename,sal).
Now user want to short the empno column . When the empno will be shorted the other two column data will be also rearranged accordingly.
Could you please help me.
Regards
Rajat

I agree with Christian, rather than manually populate your block if you convert your process to a From Clause query (see My Oracle Support document: How to use From Clause Query in Forms [ID: 69884.1]) or Forms: How to Base a block on a From Clause Query) you will be able to easily modify the ORDER_BY clause of the block to sort the data rather than have to programatically sort the data.
Hope this helps,

  • Insert Image to table from a Non Database Field

    Hallo,
    db- 9i EE R2
    forms - 6i R2
    OS - W2003
    I have a requirement to upload Images to the database from forms.
    I planned to keep the transaction data and the Images separately in different tables with a reference.
    So, I created the Image field (BLOB)  with a Non Database Field in the Form and use a button to upload the Image. (using READ_IMAGE_FILE).
    I tried to insert the Image to the Actual Image table in PRE-INSERT Trigger at block level.
    But I was not able to Insert the using reference method.  (Cannot compile the PRE-INSERT)
          INSERT INTO IMAGE_TB (ID,IMAGE)
           VALUES (IMAGE_SEQ.NEXTVAL, :ITINERARY_MAP.IMAGE);
    So, Please help me to insert a image to different table from a Non Database Field?
    Thanks

    I don't think it will work with a non-db-item. But you could create a separate block based on your image_tb-table, use read_image_file on the then db-based-column and then simpy issue a commit_form.

  • Database tables holding details for a non - released transport request

    Dear All,
    We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0 u2013 ABAP stack, on IBM iSeries / System i, i5/OS V5R4 -
    SAP kernel release 7.00, kernel patch number 173
    Could someone please guide me to the database tables holding the details for a non u2013 released transport request.
    The problem is the following :
    We encountered some data corruption in the database of our development system, so we did a restore from the previous day's backup (RSTLIB  command) for the database library : R3DEVDATA, without restoring the /usr/sap/trans  directory, then we did an APYJRNCHG command for the journal receiver spanning from the previous day's backup until the corruption time (remote journal on a remote system.)
    We are now facing the following conflict :
    One of our programmers is now un-capable of updating an ABAP program, which he previously added in a transport request, which he did not release.
    ( This was done during the day of the data corruption)
    When the programmer is trying to update the ABAP program through the ABAP workbench, he receives the error :
    'Request lock on non u2013 existent task / request DEVK921426'
    No details for the transport request DEVK921426 exist in either of the two directories :
    /usr/sap/trans/data   , /usr/sap/trans/cofiles
    The way I see to solve this conflict (eliminate this lock) is to delete the different entries related to the un-released transport request from the database tables.
    Any clues would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
    Best regards.
    Reda Khalifa

    Dear Volker,
    Thank you very much for your interest.
    The transport request of interest did not appear in transaction code SE03
    Eliminating the record from table TLOCK indeed did solve the problem.
    Thank you again.
    Best regards.

  • Pass non-database parameter from report to form

    (Portal 3.0.9) In short, how do I pass a non-database parameter into a form?
    I am calling a single form from multiple reports. On successful submission of the form, I want to return to the calling report. I have built the dynamic "go" statement in the success submission portion of the form:
    declare
    return_to_report varchar2(30);
    begin
    return_to_report := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_CALLING_REPORT');
    go('<portal_schema>.'||return_to_report||'.show');
    end;
    The problem is that I'm unable to populate the "calling_report" field in my form since it is non-database and does not appear in the list of available variables in my link.
    Also, it would be better to pass the value (report name) in a session parameter or global variable so that it is not tied to a specific record in the form, but I cannot find documentation for help.

    Hey,
    You could also create your own link in the SQL statement.
    SELECT
    display_link_update(asset_seq) as Update_Record,
    column2,
    column3,
    from table
    display_link_update is the function call and I'm passing one variable, asset_seq. Now the function can do the link creation and pass the link back to be displayed on the report.
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION "PROPERTY"."DISPLAY_LINK_UPDATE"
    (asset_seq1 in varchar2) return varchar2 is tag varchar2(4000);
    begin
    tag:='Update Link';
    return tag;
    end;
    I need to check out session variables. Do a Google search, there should be a few items about it. I'll look into in a few days beacuse I should learn this myself.

  • No data in Portal Database tables for Activity Report

    Hi experts,
    I've developed an Activity Report application in SAP Portal 7.0, which went live but the report shows no data.
    We are pulling data from 2 portal database tables: WCR_WEBCONTENTSTAT and WCR_USERPAGEUSAGE
    In non production environment there is data in the report but there is no data in the production environment.
    The Activity Report service is already activated/started and set to true.
    What could have caused this? And what should we check now?
    What other configurations/setup should be done?
    Regards,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
    Those are the aggregated tables. If they are not filled with data although the Portal Activity Report is activated, you should check whether the aggregation finished successfully.
    In the older SPs there were some problems that were fixed in later SPs of 7.0.
    In order to have the latest version of Portal Activity report, you can check SAP note 1084379 - Portal Activity Report - Latest Version (SDA file).
    You can compare the SP via the MANIFAST file, as it contains the version and SP number.
    In order to troubleshoot problems in Activity Report, you can follow SAP note: 1690023 - Portal Activity Report - Component-specific Note
    Some basic checks that you can do:
    Run query on the raw data tables to check since when there is data in those tables:
    select min(timestamphour) from SAP<SystemID>DB.WCR_WEBCNODESTAT;
    If there is too much data from long time ago, then you should delete the old data, and leave only the new data (there is anyways retention time for the data to be kept).
    If there is no data, then it means that the Portal Activity Report does not collect data, and not really activated (usually this is not the case).
    The aggregation runs every top of the hour, so you can check in the default traces for an error during that time.
    In most of the cases something went wrong while aggregating the data.
    As a result the aggregation is not finished, so the transaction is not being committed, and the aggregated tables stay empty.
    If there is a DuplicateKeyException in the trace, you can follow SAP note 1054145 - Duplicate Key Exception.
    If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
    I hope this information helps,
    Thanks & regards,
    Michal Zilcha-Lang

  • How to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table

    Hi,
    Please tell me how to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table in Oracle 10gR2 using Oracle Warehouse Builder 10gR2.

    ....can we do something through Non-Oracle->ODBC?Yes, it is possible, look at this thread
    [SQLServer access from AIX Warehouse builder|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2502982]
    If your server (with target DB and OWB runtime) is on Windows OS this configuration will be simpler - you can use single server.
    And additional link on OWB blog (with 11g transparent gateway)

  • Non-Database Item Sort Using Multiple Block Values

    I need to sort the result set of a block based on a calculated item. I found several messages addressing this, however they all speak to using the columns from within the same block as input variables to the function used to calculate the non-database column value.
    My problem is that I need to use values from a different block as input variables. I have not found a way to use them since I need to use the full block.column syntax. Forms does not like this and always thows an error right at the period(.). I need to do this because the column names are the same in each block. the function compares the column values and changes the record instance background a different color based based on how many of the column pairs match. Each block is mutually exclusive from each other and doing a accurate join is not really possible.
    I tried renaming the block column name to something unique, however I get a variable not bound error when I try to use it in the order by function even though their values are in the top most block.
    For Example:
    First Block. Contains a list of cases that need to be worked because the automated process could not find a valid provider based on the values received. This list is created by a background process.
    Table: CASE_MAIN
    TIN
    CASE_ID
    FCLTY_CM
    MEDICARE_CM
    Unrelated Second Block (i.e., no join). It uses the TIN value in the first block to get a list of all of the providers for the TIN associated with the Case so that a person can assign the correct Provider to the case (A TIN has a provider and address associated with it). As a result there is no link to the results of this table and the CASE_ID. That's what the users needs to do manually
    Table: PROVIDER_MAIN
    FCLTY
    MEDICARE
    I need to take the values in the first block and compare them in the second block so that I can recolor the background based on matching logic in the function below.
    order by clause = get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||''
    ,''||:MEDICARE_CM||''
    ,fclty
    ,medicare) desc
    I am able to do the coloring within the form easily, however I need to order them by how many values match exactly so the ones that match to most value pairs show at the top. Hence ordering by the result of the function. I return a 0,1, or 2 based on the matches. 0 for none and 2 for both.
    I cannot create a view because the sources of the information I need to compare are NOT related to each other, yet. that is what the application is designed to do. I have a case without a
    provider assigned, but I have a tax id number that possible identifies the provider. I use this TIN to query the provider table for all of the possible providers under that TIN. As a result there is no link between the case information and provider information. The goal is to get this list compare the values from the target information and put the most likely matches on top, with
    the ones with the most matches first. I can create a function many ways that takes in various parameters. For example Case ID and Provider Id and query the records in subselects
    individually like so;
    select count(*)
    from (select fclty, medicare from case_main where case_id p_case_id) cm
    ,(select fclty, medicare from provider_main where prv_id = p_prv_id) pm
    where cm.fclty = pm.fclty
    and cm.medicare = pm.medicare
    If the number is greater than zero I know I have a match with that provider and I can sort accoringly. I can also pass in the target information from case_main and the provider inforation from provider_main and then do an if/then statement for comparing. Then I can use this function to create a column value for each record and then use the same reference to the function in the order by clause to order by that value.
    The problem comes in trying to reference the case_id or target information from a different block than where the fucntion needs to be used. I get a variable bound not error message. What am I missing here. Why can I not reference a uniquely named block item as a input variable to a function in a different block? Does Forms first figure out what it needs to retrieve and then executes the SQL for each block in isolation, or does the first block's result set get retrieved, then the second, third, etc. Based on the message i am getting I would suspect the former since it appears their is no value in subsequent blocks. If so is there anyway around this? thanks.

    Don't quite understand your problem completely. But this might help. I sure hope your Provider_Main is a single-record block ...otherwise, how would you supply a list of values of FCLTY and MEDICARE to the function that does the sorting? Be awere, too, that the order-by is processed by the server, and NOT by Forms.
    Assuming it is a single-record block, you can put the values into parameters:
    :Parameter.Fclty := :Provider_Main.Fclty;
    :Parameter.Medicare := :Provider.Medicare;
    Execute_Query;
    And your order-by clause would be
    get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||'',''||:MEDICARE_CM||'',
    :Parameter.Fclty,
    :Parameter.Medicare) desc
    By the way, the first line of your order-by looks strange. Shouldn't it be:
    get_vals( FCLTY_CM || ',' || MEDICARE_CM,
    or even better, get_vals should take in 4 parameters:
    get_vals(Fclty_cm, Medicare_cm, :parameter.Fclty, :parameter.Medicare)

    What I usually do in situations like this is that I connect to the database using a sql client and the same connection information as I specified to OIM and see if the attribute is present.
    Perhaps you got the wrong db name? Or schema name?
    Everything looks good so most probably there simply is some little typo somewhere.
    Hope this helps

  • Check box as a non database item

    Hi.,
    I am using jdev 11.1.5
    My scenario:
    I need to use checkbox in my af:table which is a non database item
    if i check that check box i need to select the current row in that table
    ex:
    yr        period     type
    2010    2            AJ    [checkbox]
    2010    3            AJ    [checkbox]If I check the 2nd period check box then the value of
    Row row= vo.getcrrent();
    row.getAttribute("period");  //   this value must be 2
    check box must be a non-database item
    how can i do this

    is this what you want?
    Row row= vo.getcrrent();
    row.getAttribute("period");  //   this value must be 2
    int index =vo.getRangeIndexOf(row); //Get the index of the given row relative to the beginning of the range. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/apirefs.1111/e10653/oracle/jbo/RowIterator.html#getRangeIndexOf%28oracle.jbo.Row%29

  • Case issue in Database table

    Hi All,
    We have an issue of lowercase in database table and we want to convert that lowercase data to upper case. The code for doing this operation is as follows:
    SELECT * FROM zehs_volumes INTO TABLE i_volumes_temp.
    LOOP AT i_volumes_temp.
    DELETE zehs_volumes FROM i_volumes_temp.
    IF sy-subrc is INITIAL.
      COMMIT WORK.
    ELSE.
      ROLLBACK WORK.
    ENDIF.
    TRANSLATE i_volumes_temp-zehs_business TO UPPER CASE.
    MODIFY i_volumes_temp.
    CLEAR i_volumes_temp.
    ENDLOOP.
    SORT i_volumes_temp BY SUBID ZEHS_BUSINESS ZEHS_SITE ZEHS_ROLE
                           ZST_DATE ZED_DATE.
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES
    FROM i_volumes_temp COMPARING SUBID ZEHS_BUSINESS ZEHS_SITE
                                  ZEHS_ROLE ZST_DATE ZED_DATE.
    MODIFY zehs_volumes FROM TABLE i_volumes_temp.
    IF sy-subrc is INITIAL.
      COMMIT WORK.
    ELSE.
      ROLLBACK WORK.
    ENDIF.
    The problem wid the above code is that it first clears the entire database table and then fills it with the modified data from the internal table. But we do not want to take risk of emptying the database table. Is there any way out to perform the above operation?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Yogesh Sharma

    Hi Karthik,
    Thanks for replying.
    In our case the scenario is we need to delete wrong entires in the database table based on the primary input fields. There is already a utility to do so. But in the table some of the entries are present in the lower case.
    For eg. Suppose we need to delete entry with field zehs_business = "Pioneer". When we input this SAP interpret it as PIONEER and we get an error message "No data exist".
    So the code should we in such a way that all the value in field zehs_business should be translated to upper case otherwise SAP will give an error message of non-existence of data.
    The code which you gave adds one more entry in database table with zehs_business = "PIONEER". Now the database table have two records one with "Pioneer" and other with "PIONEER". After the execution of DELETE statement only the record with zehs_business = PIONEER gets deleted....and the other record still exist.
    Is there any way to avoid above situation....

  • Saving session state in database table rather in websever for Ordering App

    Hi all,
    Ours is a ordering application (telecomm) domain.
    Currently, we are storing user sessions data (Order shopping cart session data) in middle tier (iPlanet web server) which inturn consumes lot of memory resources.
    Shopping cart could be in MBs if order is a huge business order.
    So in order to not to overtax web server (middle tier), we are thinking of storing session data directly in a database table to relieve the overhead on web server and make use of database for storage.
    I read that APEX (html db) is already using this "single metadata table" approach for session data management. But we are not using HTML DB to really look into.
    Can some one advise how to go about storing "user session data" directly in a "database table" for both storage and retrieval purposes instead of storing it in "webserver".
    How does this "metadata table" structure looks like. Is it more generic ?
    Really appreciate your time and help/suggestions.

    Joel,
    Thanks for your response. sorry, i meant to say that "the current application does not use APEX but will look into it".
    To build this is an utterly non-trivial exercise. Oh - it may not be so hard to save session state to a table when you POST a page. But you may want to reference this in many places, and it's a question of can you change all of these references to indirect references from session state in your application.In order to free up the load on webserver, we want to maintain session management in database. Could you please explain the above little more :
    How do we maintain the "user session" with "database table" ?
    Do we need to store "session data" at java object level or by page in database table ? How does the structure of this "metadata table" looks like.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Dynamic record deletion from database table

    Hi,
    I need to delete selected records from database table(dynamic names). Table names are being passed from main program with some of their field names. The record to be deleted from the database table is being decided based on the fields passed for the table and their contains passed from the main program.
    It is not possible to write dynamic where clause for DELETE statement directly.
    So, I created a dynamic internal table and i am trying to fetch all records using SELECT statement(for which we can write dynamic where condition, something like...SELECT...WHERE (itab).  ) which need to be deleted in the iternal table.
    Piece of code :
              CONCATENATE c_im v_tablefield1 INTO v_imprtfield1.
              CONCATENATE v_tablefield1 c_in v_imprtfield1
                       into s_condition separated by space.
              APPEND s_condition TO t_condition.
              PERFORM GET_DYNAMIC_ITAB USING s_flds_agtab-tabname
                                    changing t_itab.
              ASSIGN t_itab->* TO <itab>.
    *Select the data (to be deleted) from the database table
               SELECT * FROM (s_flds_agtab-tabname) INTO TABLE <itab>
                 WHERE (t_condition).
    *Delete the records from the table
               IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
                 DELETE (s_flds_agtab-tabname) FROM TABLE <itab>.
               ENDIF.
    Here t_condition is of standard table of WHERETXT.
    t_condition at the run time before giving dump was:
    SPART IN IM_SPART
    AND KUNNR IN IM_KUNNR
    Here IM_SPART is renge type of SPART and IM_KUNNR is renge of KUNNR.
    I am getting a DUMP:
    The WHERE condition has an unexpected format.
    Error analysis
    The current ABAP/4 program attempted to execute an ABAP/4 Open SQL
    statement containing a WHERE condition of the form WHERE (itab) or
    WHERE ... AND (itab). The part of the WHERE condition specified at
    runtime in the internal table itab contains the operator
             IN (v1, ..., vn)
    in incomplete form.
    How to correct the error
    If the error occurred in a non-modified SAP program, you may be
    able to find a solution in the SAP note system.
    If you have access to the note system yourself, use the following
    search criteria:
    "SAPSQL_IN_ILLEGAL_LIST"
    "SAPLZSD_TAB_REFRESH " or "LZSD_TAB_REFRESHU01 "
    "Z_SD_REFRESH_AGTABLES"
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    I would like to know whether "IN" operator is allowed in (itab) of WHERE clause. While testing I changed the "IN" to "=" specifying a suitable value there. It worked. So please let me know if i can give "IN" operator using renge table in the dynamic where clause.
    Thanking you,
    Surya

    Hi again,  so if you can not use the IN in a dynamic where clause you might be forced to dynamically build the entire select statement,  Here is a sample program which may give you some ideas, notice that we are writing the select statement code, putting it in another program and generating the subroutine at runtime, then call this routine.  I'm sure that this will help you see what you need to do.

  • Finding source database table/column name for a column in a view

    Hi i need to be able to identify the original database table/column name for a column in a view.
    e.g. say i have a view like this
    create v1 as select a.name fname, b.name bname, c.name cname,......
    from u1.names a, u2.names b. u3.names c
    where .....
    Now I want to find out that the database table/column name for the fname, bname and cname columns in the view v1, which in this instance is u1.name.name, u2.names.name, u3.names.name.
    But i need to be able to do it for any view. Short of parsing the SQL is there an easy way of doing this?
    Now obviusly I can't do this for virtual columns but I will know my column is not virtual as it has an index on it.

    But i need to be able to do it for any view. Short of
    parsing the SQL is there an easy way of doing this?No, parsing the SQL is the only way. Good luck it is not something I would want to attempt.
