Should I recompile all code when upgrading CVI enviroment

Hi,
My firstpost is a question that may help me eliminate a code bug that I have generated.
Ihave just upgraded from CVI 9 to CVI 2009. After upgradingI have started to get an intermittant Windows error when I run a program that Ihave written and compiled and depolyed using CVI 2009. My program has been distributed using the latest runtime engine. It is diffcult to say where these errors are coming from as they appear to be linked to a external application that my app is linked to using a couple of DLL files that were written and compiled by a colleague using CVI 9.
Are there any potential risks with me using DLL files compiled in CVI 9 with my code that is being compiled and ran with the latest runtime engine?
Thanks

Solved!

Hi Hybrid,
Welcome to the NI Discussion Forums. There should not be any problems using DLL files compiled in CVI 9, or any other previous version with the latest runtime engine. I'm afraid you'll have to keep debugging the program.

  • Lost ALL projects when upgrading

We have a lot of iMovie projects built in iLife '08 -- after running the iLife '09 installer and launching iMovie '09 -- these projects won't appear in iMovie.
The projects still exist in the /Movies/iMovies Projects/ folder -- but they do not appear in iMovie.
We tried double-clicking on these project files -- and they opened iMovie '09 -- but still did not appear in the project list.
Do they need to be imported? Upgraded?
    Thoughts anyone?

Here is a bit more. I noticed that when I upgraded it didn't "find" all of my projects as I had archived quite a few on an external hard drive; that in fact wasn't formatted for Mac (DOS). Even when I moved them to an internal drive (I have 4) it still didn't find them; I couldn't even double click to load them.
I believe that in order for iMovie to find your projects they have to be in a folder called "iMovie Projects" but at the minimum - if you don't have them there you will want to trash your iMovie preferences and rebuild the library file. When I trashed my preferences it found them all.

  • Do i lose all data when upgrading to Yosemite

Do i lose my data if i upgrade to yosemite from Mavericks or is it like a simple update?

The update should be pretty straight forward. It also depends on some luck, so you might want to have your stuff backed up.

  • Lost all photos when "upgrade" Lightroom 5.5.  Any help, encouragement, aspirin would be appreciated?

30 day owner of Lightroom.  Lightroom  only shows the 35 photos of the last Keyword selection made prior to the upgrade

First, thank you for your suggestion.
Information:  Unfortunately, all filters were off.  In "keywords", the number indicated (35) I had "keyworded", probably 1500 images.
Another "twist" just found.  All images just found on the external drive (4TB), where they were originally downloaded, so I have the                     images.
Concern:  recovery of: the keywords, flags and star ratings and edits? (oh I hope there is a way)
    Thank you

  • When upgrading the operating system mac os x 10.5 to 10.6, should i do a back of my computer or if i do it directly i would loss all my music, videos, documents, etc?

    Hi ocio,
First of all, you should always do a backup of your computer before doing an upgrade - always.
Things can go wrong, and if they do, you will be out of luck without a backup.
Upgrading should not affect your music, videos, documents, files in general. But don't take any chances in case things go awry....back it all up first!

  • When upgrading to os x lion, will all my files stay in place or what?

when upgrading to os x lion, will all my files stay in place or what?

Yes of course, Apple knows a users files are valuable and won't just go deleting them .
However, OS X upgrades can go bad due to unforeseen circumstances or special modifications people have done to their operating systems or even root level anti-virus installs like Norton.
If the upgrade goes bad, your operating system can become "bricked", requiring a lot more effort to recover your files.
Also third party programs like from Microsoft, Adobe and others may not be ready for OS X Lion, if you have any "mission critical" needs for the computer, it's best to wait several months, yes SEVERAL MONTHS, to make absolutely sure all the bugs are worked out of third party drivers, software, printers, scanners etc., and even OS X Lion itself.
Always backup your valuable data, to write protected cd/dvd's if all possible for the reason that humans, even myself I just recently learned, can very very easily erase data on re-writable media like hard drives due to human error.
TimeMachine is a somewhat ok image backup system, Carbon Copy Cloning of one's boot drive onto a external drive which is hold option bootable is great in case your hard drive dies, but for your most precious data, you really should be burning, labeling, dating and storing multiple cd/dvd's.

  • Error Code: U44M2P20 when upgrading CS5, with Illustrator CS5 15.02

Recently I got the message to upgrade my Adobe Creative Suite (CS5) Production Premium.  However during upgrade three components failed:
    1.     Extension Manager 5.5
    2.     Adobe Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 and
    3.     Pixel Bender 2.5
I got the message to upgrade these components again today and the upgrade again failed.
I then downloaded the actual upgrades and tried to manually upgrade but it again failed with error code U44M2P20
when I looked at the error code I get the note:
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell
however, I currently have Adobe Illustrator 15.0.0 and Pixle Bender toolkit 2.0 installed and working.
how can I either upgrade or stop the upgrade messages from coming up.

I am getting the impression that you should be saying "update" instead of "upgrade"
If the Adobe Application Manager is involved in these messages about updates then what you can do is adjust the preferences to no longer check for updates for the troublesome program updates.

  • Just upgraded to jdk1.4 from 1.2 do I need to recompile all my class files?

Just upgraded to jdk1.4 from 1.2 do I need to recompile all my class files?
They run fine, but is there any benefit of recompiling all my class files?

Nope. AFAIK you would experience exactly zero benefits from just recompiling the code. All that would do is regenerate the bytecode within the .class file(s), and as far as I know, the class file specification did not change. I am not aware of any modifications to the bytecode generation process in the 1.4 release that constitute actual changes in what's generated (for example, generating more efficient or optimized bytecode).
(any other respondents feel free to correct me on this, as I admittedly spend very little of my time down at the bytecode and classfile level)

Hope you guys can help med out

Not sure what you mean. If you are asking if the drive is erased when you upgrade to Lion, then the answer is, No. If you are asking if a backup of your files is made before the upgrade, then the answer is, No. You should make your own backup before upgrading to Lion.
How to Install Lion Successfully - You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Installed
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.3.) if DW cannot fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup volume. Source means the internal startup volume.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade to Lion:
Purchase the Lion Installer from the Mac App Store. The download will start quickly. Lion is nearly 4 GBs so a fast internet connection is essential. Download time could run upwards of 4 hours depending upon network conditions and server demands at the time.
Boot From The Lion Installer which is located in your Applications folder.
    Follow instructions for installation.

  • How i can have all my opened tab when upgrade my firefox?

now i'm still using very old Firefox 3.6.12, and i want to upgrede it. I always using "save and quit" to my all opened tab when quit and not using bookmarks. total about 300+ tab opened.
i already try upgrade once and all my tab is lost. and because of that i do system restore and reintall with old one again.
how i can have all my opened tab when upgrade my firefox?
    sorry my english is mess....

I do not think anything much has changed with the Firefox system restore files and how they are handled so it may be possible to keep these and use them after an upgrade in a new version of Firefox.
It is '''very important that you backup the Firefox profile''' see
*[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
If you do that you will be able to use the open tabs again. <br />(May need to reinstall Firefox 3.6 again possibly as an additional browser) <br />
    You must
    * Put that profiles somewhere safe. NOT in the Firefox profile or program path. Your Window's Desktop is ok as a safe place.
*When needed. Only work with copies of those files. Keep the original files and folders safe.
Upgrade to the latest Firefox. Because you are going up so far from 3.6 to 27 do this by installing the new Firefox 27. Do not try using each upgrade step from 3.6 to 27.
    Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
WARNING: Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <br />These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up. <br />(That is why I asked that the profile was backed up FIRST)
You may be surprised and find Firefox still has the old tabs once it is reinstalled.
Post back with how you get on. We should be able to get access to the old tabs again.
In future I suggest you do not try to rely on keeping 300 tabs open all the time without bookmarking them. You will at some stage probably lose some or all of these tabs, or their related states and history.
    Please in future
    * Backup your profile on a regular basis.
**Once a week means you may only lose one week's open tabs.
    *Bookmark important open tabs.
    ** Bookmarks keep well.
** Open tabs do not keep well & may be lost.
    * If possible reduce the number of open tabs you use.

  • Are return codes from APIs different when upgrading DOT from 8.0.3 to 8.1.4/8.2.3 (7-mode only)

Customer is looking to upgrade from DOT 8.0.3 to 8.1.4/8.2.3 (7-mode). There are no real API changes between these upgrades other than additional functionality being added. Howver, are the return codes from APIs any different when upgrading DOT from 8.0.3 to 8.1.4/8.2.3 (7-mode only)? Any help on this to help confirm would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks in advance. Thanks. I had the Portal 3.0.6/3.0.7/3.0.8 to Portal 3.0.9 upgrade scripts and instructions, but thought that was my last step. I hesitated on running the Portal Configuration Assistant. None of the instructions told me what to do at this point.
Anyways, it looks that by running the Portal Configuration Assitant at the end of the 1.0.2.2 9iAS install, it created a new repository for Portal 3.0.9 in my database. Since I gave it a different schema name, I now have two portal repositories. The old Portal 3.0.6 repository (jvac_portal30) and the new Portal 3.0.9 repository (j_portal30).
So, I assume I have to perform the upgrade scripts on the Portal 3.0.6 repository to get it to 3.0.9. Since we really did not have very much in the repository, we may just manually recreate everything in the new 3.0.9 repository. I have ssen several discussion threads about the upgrade and problems, so I am very leary to do it.
In regards to our J Server propblem, we left for lunch. Came back and rebooted several more times, double checked all our configuration files (made no changes), stopped and restarted Apache several more times, and then by some miracle everything started working.

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my home wifi dies for all devices when I bring my MacBook Pro home.

    The situation:
Ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion, the following sequence of events has happened with my laptop.
    1. I come home from work.
    2. I open the lid of my laptop.
    3. I see the white "your comptuer's messed up" screen. I click a button to restart.
    4. We lose wifi. This affects all devices.
    5. I restart the router and modem.
Once it's restarted, I have no issues - until I leave for work and bring the computer back that night. I've checked the router and modem - no issues there, as it works perfectly for every other device in the house, and even works for the laptop perfectly (once they've been reset, that is).
    Some notes of clarification:
    1. The wifi does not die with any other device - this includes an iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and an iPad 1.
    2. BUT, when the wifi DOES die, it affects every device in the house.
    3. My laptop does not do this with any other wifi - only my home wifi.
It seems to me that the correlation is in the initial connection. When my laptop initially tries to connect to our home wifi, it's as if it fries both the connection and the computer. I see a lot of issues with people losing wifi for their computer, or slow wifi, but I haven't seen anything that relates to this wifi death across all devices when the laptop is reawoken after being at work. It's like there's something messed up with the switch from work wifi to home wifi.
    Please help!

    Hi,
I had a similar issue with Time Machine after upgrading my iMac (where the Time Machine HDD is connected and shared from) to Mountain Lion. This was fixed by following the instruction from this site: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4700. It seems that Mountain Lion introduced a more secure network protocol which may not be supported (yet) by the network drive.
    Hope this helps.

You must remember the code, if you can't then take the phone and proof of purchase to an Apple Store.

    Here's a gotcha that I bumped into:
