Should I use a Div instead of a UL?

I have used three unordered-lists for my navbar. On
validation it suggests I should'nt have the opening UL as a
"wrapper". Should I make the wrapper a div instead? or is it ok to
have a UL as a wrapper with other UL's inside it?
<ul id="wrapper">
<ul id="threebarmenu">
<li class="firstlinespace">line one</li>
<li class="secondlinespace">line two</li>
<li class="thirdlinespace">line three </li>
</ul>
<ul id="leftnav">
<li><!--#include
virtual="/newsite/test/ssidivless/ssi_menu_divless.shtml"
--></li>
<li class="leftnavCrouton">leftnavCrouton</li>
</ul>
<br style="clear: both;">
</ul>
Or... Could I just keep the UL's have lay them out like this?
<ul id="threebarmenu">
<li class="firstlinespace">line one</li>
<li class="secondlinespace">line two</li>
<li class="thirdlinespace">line three </li>
</ul>
<ul id="navigation">
<ul id="leftnav">
<li><!--#include
virtual="/newsite/test/ssidivless/ssi_menu_divless.shtml"
--></li>
<li class="leftnavCrouton">leftnavCrouton</li>
</ul>
<br style="clear: both;">
</ul>

SEMANTIC, not scematic.
> <ul id="wrapper">
> <ul id="threebarmenu">
You cannot nest <ul> tags like this. That's the cause
of the problem.
I don't like your approach to this at all. You are making it
MUCH too
complex.
Why do you have includes within lists again?

  • When to use abstract classes instead of interfaces with extension methods in C#?

    "Abstract class" and "interface" are similar concepts, with interface being the more abstract of the two. One differentiating factor is that abstract classes provide method implementations for derived classes when needed. In C#, however,
    this differentiating factor has been reduced by the recent introduction of extension methods, which enable implementations to be provided for interface methods. Another differentiating factor is that a class can inherit only one abstract class (i.e., there
    is no multiple inheritance), but it can implement multiple interfaces. This makes interfaces less restrictive and more flexible. So, in C#, when should we use abstract classes
    instead of interfaces with extension methods?
    A notable example of the interface + extension method model is LINQ, where query functionality is provided for any type that implements IEnumerable via
    a multitude of extension methods.

    Hi
    Well I believe Interfaces have more uses in software design. You could decouple your component implementing against interfaces so that
    you have more flexibility on changing your code with less risk. Like Inversion of Control patterns where you can use interfaces and then when you decide you can change the concrete implementation that you want to use. Or other uses for interfaces is you could
    use Interceptors using interfaces (Unity
    Interceptor) to do different things where not all of these is feasible or at least as straightforward using abstract classes.

  • Does Mackeeper cause problems?  What should I use instead?

    I have been using Mackeeper since getting my new Macbook Pro laptop in December 2013/Jan. 2014 (OS X 10.9.4).  I just now read it is not advised to use Mackeeper to 'clean' your computer, and I have since deleted it.  Have I caused my computer problems by using it since I purchased it in December 2013/January 2014?  What, if anything, should I use instead to help keep the system running smoothly, fast, and without issues?  (i.e. malware, viruses, trojans, etc.)
    This is my third Mac laptop and I've always used some type of Mackeeper cleaner; I'm somewhat lost as to what I should now do -- or if I caused my system problems.
    Thanks in advance.

    What, if anything, should I use instead to help keep the system running smoothly, fast, and without issues?  (i.e. malware, viruses, trojans, etc.)
    No so-called "cleaning" programs are necessary or beneficial.
    All are capable of causing system corruption that, at an extreme, may require completely erasing your Mac and reconfiguring it from the ground up.
    Keep your Mac's operating system up to date with software updates from Apple.
    -- or if I caused my system problems.
    That is possible. If your Mac is not performing as you think it should, describe what you're observing that is causing you concern. Please be as specific as possible - for example, is it taking a long time to launch programs? Is Safari loading web pages slowly, or not at all?
    Whatever you do, if you believe something is wrong with your Mac, never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up",  "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" it; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.
    There are many such products and they're all scams designed for one and only one purpose - to take your money. They are very successful at that task. Once that is accomplished, their mission is complete. If your Mac subsequently behaves poorly, if your data becomes irretrievably lost, or if you just waste your time - is completely irrelevant to their true purpose.
    Describe what's wrong and the experienced users on this site will help you fix it.

  • HT3924 What cable should I use since my MacBook Pro only have Thunderbolt instead of Mini DisplayPort?

    Should I use a Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable? The article did not include this.

    I have to assume you are connecting your iMac to your MBP and running the MBP in target display mode.  So you would need a mini-displayport to mini-displayport cable for that.
    If it's the other way around I don't think it can be done since a TB device can only be connected to a TB source.

  • Using SQL Server instead of OLite

    Has anyone had any luck with this? I am really not too familiar with the Oracle setup and due to experience, feel much more comfortable using SQL Server.
    I read this thread where it talks about using other databases instead of Oracle Lite, but I can't seem to get it to work for SQL Server.
    How to use a non-Oracle database?
    I can get the ddl file to install and configure for SQL, but I'm having problems getting the JDBC connections to work in the data-sources.xml config file. Can anyone PLEASE... help me here? I've been screwing with this for a few hours, and haven't had much luck and I'm getting really frustrated. I downloaded the DataDirect JDBC drivers, but I'm not sure what I need to do with them in order to get this to work.
    Thanks,
    TC

    Hi TC,
    I circled back with the team. The only set of drivers that we currently support for Microsoft SQL Server are the DataDirect drivers. You should be able to download evaluation versions from their web site and their configuration doc do a good job of describing the configuration string you will need to use to set up the data source.
    Let us know if it does not work as advertized.
    I hope this helps.

  • Using Relative Path instead of Full Path OMBPlus

    Can we use relative paths in OMBPlus scripts instead of full paths. For example all my OMBplus (tcl) scripts are in folder;
    C:\tfsroot2\Interfaces and Extracts\branches\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\000 - OWB Prototype\deploy\ora.stg
    and the MDX file I would like to deploy is in
    C:\tfsroot2\Interfaces and Extracts\branches\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\000 - OWB Prototype\deploy\ora.stg\scripts\dwextract\tables
    but when I try to use
    OMBIMPORT MDL_FILE '../scripts/dwextract/tables/$tblName.mdx'
    instead of
    OMBIMPORT MDL_FILE 'C:/tfsroot2/Interfaces and Extracts/branches/Interfaces and Extracts1.1/000 - OWB Prototype/deploy/ora.stg/scripts/dwextract/tables/$tblName.mdx'
    It does not work.
    I use
    call "C:\OraHome_1\owb\bin\win32\OMBPlus.bat" "C:\tfsroot2\Interfaces and Extracts\branches\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\000 - OWB Prototype\deploy\ora.stg\OMB_DEPLOY_TBL.tcl" XTRCT_WRK_INPUT_FILE
    in order to execute.
    I think it is because It set the OMBPlus.bat location is a base folder. Any way to overcome this issue and use relative paths instead of the full path?

    OK, a couple of things. First, you need to remember that TCL treats back-slashes as an escape character. Always use forward slashes in your paths, or double up the back slashes .
    So, this should work:
    CD "C:\tfsroot2\Interfaces and Extracts\branches\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\000 - OWB Prototype\deploy\ora.stg"
    call OMBPlus.bat "C:\\tfsroot2\\Interfaces and Extracts\\branches\\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\\000 - OWB Prototype\\deploy\\ora.stg\\OMB_DEPLOY_TBL.tcl" XTRCT_WRK_INPUT_FILEor this:
    CD "C\tfsroot2\Interfaces and Extracts\branches\Interfaces and Extracts1.1\000 - OWB Prototype\deploy\ora.stg"
    call OMBPlus.bat "C:/tfsroot2/Interfaces and Extracts/branches/Interfaces and Extracts1.1/000 - OWB Prototype/deploy/ora.stg/OMB_DEPLOY_TBL.tcl" XTRCT_WRK_INPUT_FILEAs an FYI for OMB, if you are prone to doing a lot of scripts and so building libraries of common functions, you can also easilly use the "file" command in order to determine the current directory at runtime so you can plunk your script anywhere with it's required libraries and it will be able to source them at runtime.
    For example, all our scripts have this basic bit of code at the beginning so we can pass them between developers and it doesn't matter where anyone put their script directory - the scripts will find the libraries as long as they are co-located:
    #  Get Current Directory and time
    set dtstmp     [ clock format [clock seconds] -format {%Y%m%d_%H%M}]
    set scrpt      [ file split [file root [info script]]]
    set scriptDir  [ file dirname [info script]]
    set scriptName [ lindex $scrpt [expr [llength $scrpt]-1]]
    set cnfg_lib "$scriptDir/ombplus_config.tcl"
    set owb_lib  "$scriptDir/omb_library.tcl"
    set sql_lib  "$scriptDir/omb_sql_library.tcl"
    #  Import Lbraries
    #      Assumes that owb_config, omb_library, and omb_sql_library are in the same directory as this
    #      script.
    #get config file
    if [catch { set retstr [ source $cnfg_lib ] } errmsg] {
       puts "**********************************************************************"
       puts "* Libraries are missing from the current directory. Exiting.... *"
       puts "**********************************************************************"
       return -code 2
    #get standard library
    source $owb_lib
    source $sql_lib
    #  Set Logfile
    #    This will overwrite anything set in the config file.
    set LOG_PATH "$scriptDir/logs"
    file mkdir $LOG_PATH
    set    SPOOLFILE  ""
    append SPOOLFILE $LOG_PATH "/log_"  $scriptName "_" $tabName "_" $dtstmp ".txt"
    # Now the main script body goes from here.Cheers,
    Mike

  • Error while using .jar file instead of class file.

    Hello friends,
    I created a java class which are referred and called from other jsp\xml and java files. I compiled this java class and everything is working properly. However, I do not want to use class files but want to use jar files instead. So, I created a jar file of this class file by using the command "jar -cvf jarfilename.jar".I kept the jar file in its respective folder .Also, I removed the class file from its path, just to see that the jar file will work automatically.
    Unfortunately, I am getting an error:
    java.lang.RuntimeException: Component.createComponent(...) Component class not found: <java class path>. I also tried giving the path of this jar file in the classpath. This also does not seem working.
    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Ranjith M.V
    Edited by: RanjithM.V on May 11, 2008 10:34 PM

    You probably populated the jar file incorrectly.
    A common mistake is to include the path that you had on the classpath, in the jar file.
    So a person will have a classpath like this: /foo/
    And a class in a package bar, like this:
    package bar;So that other classes would include the file like this:
    import bar.TheClass;And the class file is on the filesystem like this:
    .../foo/bar/TheClass.classThen they'll create the jar file including the foo directory, so if they list the jar's contents, they'll see the above (/foo/bar/TheClass.class). But this is wrong. It should start off so that the jar entries start with the top-level package names (like /bar/TheClass.class).
    Maybe you've done that.

  • Which version of iPhoto should I use?

    When I picked up my repaired MacBook (Intel Core Duo) the person at the Apple Store showed me how to restore all of its data using my Time Machine backup.  He told me that during the repair they had installed Snow Leopard.  He had forgotten that I had told him when the MacBook first died we were told it was not worth repairing and we purchased a new MacBook Pro running Lion.  The TM backup was from that machine.  The intent was to have two machines with the same Apps & data so each of two users could take either machine and go forward from that point.  Each machine would then have its own TM Backup.
    After many discussions with tech support, almost everything except iPhoto (and incoming Apple Mail) on the MacBook works OK.  That's probably because during the restore, iPhoto 9.1.5 was installed.  It does not open because of a Frameworks conflict of some sort.  Earlier versions of iPhoto say the Library was created with a newer version.  (I temporarily moved the iPhoto Library out of my User>Pictures Folder, opened iPhoto 7.x and imported some photo's to create a new Library.  That worked.  My original Library is 35 GB so each attempt to fix anything in it has been time consuming.  That's why I'm asking the real experts.
    I've seen a suggestion from Terrance Devlin to "rebuild" the Library using the iPhoto Library Manager and others by Terrance, Neil, Old Toad, and Kappy to drag a different version of Frameworks into System>Library>?  (Apparently, some OS X 10.7 support files were loaded onto the MacBook.)  Which ones and which version?
    Which version of iPhoto should I use on the MacBook?  Which version does OS X 10.6.8 support?  Eventually, we'd also like to merge some of the individual Libraries into a shared Library.  Is iPhoto Library Manager the best way to do that?  (Speaking of that, I understand Apple does not support backup of non-Lion Mac's via Wi-Fi, except if using Time Capsule.  Seagate sells an external 2 TB Hard Drive that connects via ethernet to your Router, for that purpose.  Does it work well?)

    Terence,
    Below is a copy of the Problem Report I get after I double click the iPhoto (9.1.5) icon in my Applications folder.  Both iPhoto 6 and iPhoto 7 open but cannot read my iPhoto Library that was restored from a Lion TM backup.  I tried moving my iPhoto Library out of the Pictures folder and was able to create a new one using iPhoto 7.1.5.
    Inside of System>Library, there are two copies of the following folders:
    Frameworks
    PodcastProducer
    Keychains
    Java
    In each case, the name of the second folder includes "(from old Mac)" without the quotes after the folder name.  I believe my issue is being caused by the System using Frameworks instead of Frameworks (from old Mac), but I have not been able to switch them easily and, as you said, do not want to do serious damage.
    The only other thing that does not work properly is incoming IMAP mail via AOL and Google.  Outgoing works on those two plus Incoming and Outgoing work on the Verizon POP account.

  • H.246 (MPEG-4) versus .AVI? Which one should I use? What should I use for audio?

    Hey guys, I'm fairly new to AAE. Actually, I've had the trial for only 8 days now. I just got a capture card so I could record BF3 gameplay on the Xbox 360. I've spent sometime doing missions and whatnot, recording gameplay, so I could bring it into AAE and edit it. Now I just heard that AAE is more compatible with MPEG-4 files than with .AVI files. I'm not sure about this, but I do know that when I RAM preview with .AVI files or MP3 files, the audio is always cutting in and out.
    My question is, should I record and edit my gameplay with H.246 (MPEG-4) or should I be using .AVI files instead? What's important to me is the quality of the video, and how well it works with AAE (I don't want it to flicker in/out)
    But also, what's the best audio file format? As in, best quality and compatibility, also I don't want audio being cut in/out when I preview it.
    Thanks!

    Use AVIs. H.264 is a compressed delivery format and not necessarily meant for editing. Same for you MP3 - AE is simply rubbish at dealing with them. Use WAV instead. Do a little reading here on this forum. These topics have been covered many times.

  • Should I use a sequence?

    Hi,
    I would like to achieve the following
    h5. table A
    record #1
    --column 1 (number): 1 (pk)
    --column 2 (char): AAR
    record #2
    --column 1 (number): 2 (pk)
    --column 2 (char): GGT
    h5. table B
    column 1 (number): 1 (pk)
    column 2 (number): 1 (fk on table A)
    column 3 (char): AAR-1
    The idea is that column 3 on table B is automatically generated by the application., and gets the value according to the FK to table A
    Therefore, the next record created in table B, if having column 2 value as "1" (from table A) then column 3 should get value "AAR-2"
    Instead if in table B a record is inserted pointing to column 2 values "2", then column 3 would get GGT-01.
    What do you recommend? To have an additional column (number) in table A starting with 0, and every time a new record is inserted in table B I should get the max(id) and increment by 1 after creating the record. Or would it be reasonable to create a sequence for each record table A (assuming that a table will never grow to more than 500 records)?
    Thanks for your help

    In the below example, I am not using sequence; I used trigger which works for PK/FK and sequence simultaneously : Windows XP and Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1
    create table tablea(car_code number,car_name varchar2(50));

    When you type something in a facet in a jspx page it automaticaly get into an f:verbatim tag.
    yet in the code it has a warning:
    Using f:verbatium tag can cause undesirable results when used with PPR navigation. For inlining styles or javascript, af:resource should be used instead.
    Also if you use call and return from a dialog page, the page is procken
    [http://adfbugs.blogspot.com/2009/08/returning-from-dialog-to-page-that-has.html]
    Is this a bug? or we should not use f:verbatim?

    You shouldn't be using f:verbatim to just display text on your page instead put the text into one of the output components - such as outputText or the formatted outputText.

  • Need experts opinion... Should I use smcFanControl?

    I've recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13" with an i7 processor and 8GB of RAM and have been watching flash player videos on the internet and playing pretty basic games that use programs such as Java and have experienced temps topping at 101 degrees Celsius. I'm not an expert with laptops, but I have done a TON and I mean HOURS of reading online for the past several days and have read posts where people have encouraged the use of smcFanControl when needed and read the opposite side where people say to not mess with it and trust in Apple's engineering. From my basic understanding, it seems like more acceptable temperatures should be around 80-90 degrees Celsius for these tasks. Am I correct in this thinking to protect my laptop? This is my 1st laptop and I want to make sure I can make it last as long as possible, so what's the truth? Should I use smcFanControl just when I plan to play games or watch flash player videos? If you've used smcFanControl for years, please speak up along with anyone else who knows a lot on this issue. Thanks!!

    hi ,
    here is my question again..my xml will have
    <Message>
    <ATO>
    <somefiled="X" type=int value=35 />
    </ATO>
    <FIX>
    <somefiled="Y" type=String value=50 />
    <FIX>
    </Message>
    Now first i have to parse this xml ..then my java program is going to accept value from user ..and depending on user specified value i've to use either ATO or FIX fields...e.g if user value is 35 then my program should use fields within ATO node.
    You will read the XML structure into some kind of memory model. When the user supplies a value you will search for a matching value (likely from a collection such as a map or list) and return the value in that object that you locate.
    what should be done for this ..
    See above.
    and what if i change values in my xml file..will i have to restart my application to load xml again ?
    If you change the file on the filesystem, you should simply be able to re-parse the XML file and update your in-memory model. If you instead update your in memory-model, you can serialize the model back to XML on the filesystem. Neither needs to necessarily have anything to do with application start-up (other than the fact that you would normally read in the XML model then, but updating is a separate concern, as would re-reading it).

    Too much SQL... makes me eyes hurt.
    I think you're running down the wrong alley here. The very first and fundamental principle of performance tuning is identifying the performance problem. Saying that there is a problem is not identifying the actual problem.
    You cannot run down the alley with a knife looking for a performance problem to kill if you do not know how it looks like. Good that you are running though - the old Klingon saying of "a running warrior can slit more throats" hold very true. :-)
    Why is the existing SQL slow? You first need to identify that. Sure, a materialised view can make the end-query much faster as it has no longer to do all the work - that has now been done in batch by a DBMS_REFRESH job updating and maintaining that materialised view. But that work is still done... so have you actually fixed the cause of the performance problem, or merely hid it by addressing the symptoms?
    How does one find and identify the underlaying performance problem with too-much-SQL-that-makes-Billy's-eyes-hurt? Software Engineering 101. Take any complex problem. Break it down into lots of smaller little problems. Solve each on in turn.
    Take the SQL, break it down into simpler pieces and check each for performance issues. Look at the execution plan and cost. Determime if you (via the physical db design) are providing optimal I/O paths to the CBO in order for it to get to the required data with as little I/O as possible.
    Once you deal with the facts, you can make an informed decision or whether or not a materialised view will actually fix the cause of the performance problem.

  • Can we use oracle database Instead of Cloudspace?

              hi there,Can we use oracle database instead of Cloudspace with the current implementation?
              If possible can you please send me the example
              1.ra.xml
              2.weblogic-ra.xml
              files for connection to oracle. i would really appreciate any support.
              thanx, raghu.

              Prasen,
              Could you tell me what specifically should I use for Oracle database instead of
              jdbc:cloudscape:rmi:CloudscapeDB;create=true.
              Can I use jdbc:weblogic:oracle for jdbc:cloudscape:Commerce? I am not familiar with
              Cloidscape URLs and drivers.
              Thanks,
