Should I use an iframe here?

I'm pretty new at this and have made a website using
Photoshop and Image Ready and also have a few flash files on an
HTML page in Dreamweaver MX. I have added a music player at the
bottom of the page, which is made in Swish Jukebox and I want the
music to play throughout the website. What I didn't think of when I
created the site was that the music will start from the beginning
again when you click onto other pages in the menu. As it's only the
middle of the page that changes I was wondering how to do this and
if creating an iframe in the middle of the page would be the
solution as everything else stays the same on the page....if so,
how do I create an iframe and how would I link the button images on
the page to the iframe and it's different content? You can see what

It's just the flash file in the middle of the page that
changes on the pages so if I could have everything on one HTML page
and just alter the middle information and link each menu button to
the different middle information that'd be the solution to my
problem, but I don't know how to go about it.

You certainly could use a frame or iframe, but then you're
stuck with the problems of a frame site. I prefer sites that have a
seperate popup for a music player, if music need to play for the
entire experience. I also prefer sites that give me the option to
start the music, rather than forcing me to find the off button.
Another suggestion, lose the pulsating speakers, moving text,
and the moving banner (exept possibly a single pass on the home
page). These effects don't do anything exept draw the users
attention away from the content. They are very distracting and I
found the content difficult to read with all of the
distractions.

Which C# Adobe library should I use to open a PDF in Acrobat Reader 9, 10, and 11?

Hi, all.
I have a Visual Studio C# application that writes an Adobe PDF using iText. Does anyone know how to programmatically open the PDF on client's computer and ensure it works for Adobe Reader 9, 10, and 11?
-I have Adobe Reader XI on my machine and "Adobe Pdf Reader" is NOT showing up in my COM references. This is the library that I've heard people use for this.
-The "Adobe Reader File Preview Type Library" is showing up there, but does not add to my project because of the following error message: "A reference to 'Adobe Reader File Preview Type Library' could not be added. Could not register the ActiveX type library....adoberfp.dll'." But I haven't persued this further becuase I'm not even convinced I should be using this library, which brings me to my next point:
-Please don't tell me to go read the Adobe SDK spec. In searching for this answer, I found posts on here with people asking this question and getting not great answers, or half-*** answers to go read the Adobe SDK spec. I have the Adobe SDK spec, it's terrible. The example source code is laughably poor and reads like it was written by someone with bad english, with poor naming, commenting, and documentation, and there is no separate document that explains what the source code does. I think the reason people say this is because they haven't read it themselves and they don't know the answer and hope to deal with the question by handwaving. Sorry for the rant if you weren't going to do that!

It will be from a client-side application, and I will be reviewing this further and get back on it. At this time my assembly isn't the correct type of 32-bit, which may be a deal-breaker. But downgrading it to 32-bit, I wasn't able to find or include the appropriate library for AXAcroPDF.
Just a word about my trying to read the SDK documentation. The documentation folder has 5 items, a folder called "Javascript", an html file caled "Acrobat_11_SDK_Help_Shortcut.html", a zip file called "...HTMLHelp.zip," pdf_reference.pdf, and U3DElements.pdf. I've never heard of U3DElements, so surely that isn't meant for me. The pdf_reference.pdf, when opened, has three PDF links to two supplements to ISO 32000-1 and a document titled Document management. These describe the PDF spec, so that's not for me. So I must have to use the HTML documentation shortcut. I open it, and my browser says the redirect URL can't be found. Ah, may be that stuff in the ZIP file it's referencing. After unzipping it, you have to move the file around so that it actually references the right index.html inside the unzipped folders, and then even after this it loads up as two blank frames in my browser. I will look into why the links are all dead, but holy lord, this is just not very helpful at all.

Which external hard drive should I use to save my iTunes library?

So I have collected so much music and movies in iTunes that my internal HD is practically full. (Library is over 500GB of 1TB and the rest is taken up with my apps and programs.) It's time to purchase an external hard drive to transfer my library to. Furthermore, I currently have a 2TB WD My Book for Mac that I am currently using for backup. The My Book is also full and Time Machine is deleting the oldest backups to make room for the current ones.
Here is where I need everyones advice. I am planning on purchasing a 3TB WD My Book for Mac. I am planning on purchasing more movies for iTunes. Which external hard drive should I use for what? Option A or B
Option A: Put my iTunes library on the 2TB external hard drive and use the 3TB for backup
Option B: Put my iTunes library on the 3TB external hard drive and continue to use the 2TB for backup

Which version of iPhoto should I use?

When I picked up my repaired MacBook (Intel Core Duo) the person at the Apple Store showed me how to restore all of its data using my Time Machine backup. He told me that during the repair they had installed Snow Leopard. He had forgotten that I had told him when the MacBook first died we were told it was not worth repairing and we purchased a new MacBook Pro running Lion. The TM backup was from that machine. The intent was to have two machines with the same Apps & data so each of two users could take either machine and go forward from that point. Each machine would then have its own TM Backup.
After many discussions with tech support, almost everything except iPhoto (and incoming Apple Mail) on the MacBook works OK. That's probably because during the restore, iPhoto 9.1.5 was installed. It does not open because of a Frameworks conflict of some sort. Earlier versions of iPhoto say the Library was created with a newer version. (I temporarily moved the iPhoto Library out of my User>Pictures Folder, opened iPhoto 7.x and imported some photo's to create a new Library. That worked. My original Library is 35 GB so each attempt to fix anything in it has been time consuming. That's why I'm asking the real experts.
I've seen a suggestion from Terrance Devlin to "rebuild" the Library using the iPhoto Library Manager and others by Terrance, Neil, Old Toad, and Kappy to drag a different version of Frameworks into System>Library>? (Apparently, some OS X 10.7 support files were loaded onto the MacBook.) Which ones and which version?
Which version of iPhoto should I use on the MacBook? Which version does OS X 10.6.8 support? Eventually, we'd also like to merge some of the individual Libraries into a shared Library. Is iPhoto Library Manager the best way to do that? (Speaking of that, I understand Apple does not support backup of non-Lion Mac's via Wi-Fi, except if using Time Capsule. Below is a copy of the Problem Report I get after I double click the iPhoto (9.1.5) icon in my Applications folder. Both iPhoto 6 and iPhoto 7 open but cannot read my iPhoto Library that was restored from a Lion TM backup. I tried moving my iPhoto Library out of the Pictures folder and was able to create a new one using iPhoto 7.1.5.
Inside of System>Library, there are two copies of the following folders:
Frameworks
PodcastProducer
Keychains
Java
In each case, the name of the second folder includes "(from old Mac)" without the quotes after the folder name. I believe my issue is being caused by the System using Frameworks instead of Frameworks (from old Mac), but I have not been able to switch them easily and, as you said, do not want to do serious damage.
The only other thing that does not work properly is incoming IMAP mail via AOL and Google. Outgoing works on those two plus Incoming and Outgoing work on the Verizon POP account.

Should I use Time Machine?

I have a new Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB external hard drive. I also have an old PowerPC iBook G3, with a 40GB hard drive and a dead logic board. I can still access the iBook's HD by hooking it up to my current MacBook and starting it up in Target Disk mode. My current MacBook has a 120GB hard drive, which is getting full.
This is the first time I've ever used external storage. What I would like to do is:
a) copy the contents of the iBook's HD to the external HD;
b) back up the contents of the MacBook's HD;
c) free up some space on the MacBook's HD.
My questions:
1. Do I need to format the external drive before doing anything? If so, am I right in thinking that I should do this in Disk Utility > Erase, and choose 'Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)'?
2. If I do this, do I need to worry about the files that were already on the drive when it arrived from the manufacturer? (I might keep the User Guide pdf, but everything else seems to be .exe files, or files for which there is no default application specified to open them.)
3. Do I need to create a partition on the external HD for the contents of the old iBook HD?
4. Will Time Machine work on a partitioned external HD?
5. Should I use Time Machine to back up the contents of my MacBook, or do it manually? The things that I'm most concerned to back up are my photographs. However, these are also the files which take up the most room on my MacBook HD (I shoot in RAW - lots of 10MB+ files), so are the obvious candidates for files to keep on the external HD in order to free up space on the MacBook. If I back up using TM, then erase some photos from the MacBook hard drive, will TM then erase them from the external hard drive as well - either immediately or when the external hard drive fills up - or will they be safe forever? Sorry, I'm not entirely clear how TM actually works...

Yes, but it needs to be formatted HFS+. If you are creating a separate partition, you use a GUID partition map for an Intel iMac (APM for PPC).

Absolutely NOT! TM is not for archiving. You delete files are NOT safe forever.

Which version of PC suite should I use to copy all...

I have an old Nokia 6610 which is on its last legs. There are about 130 text messages stored on the phone itself, in various subfolders within "My folders", one message in the Archive folder, and about 8 messages in the Inbox (the Inbox messages are stored on the SIM card - Vodafone Pay As You Go). I also have 14 pictures stored in a "Pics" folder in the Gallery. All my Phone book entries are stored on the SIM card. The text message memory is virtually full, and I often have to delete existing messages before new ones will arrive.
My computer is a Power Mac G4 running Mac OS X 10.4.11. For those that are interested, it's this model here:

On the Mac I have Microsoft Virtual PC 7.0.2 which runs a copy of Windows 2000 (5.0.0.2195 Service Pack 4) under emulation.
I have a fake/third party DKU-2 cable which came with a CD which contains the installer "Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe" and the installer for PC suite 6.6.
Many months ago I ran the "Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe" installer (within the Windows 2000 Virtual Machine) and also installed the latest Windows 2000 compatible version of PC Suite that I could find at the time - 6.86 (the installer file is called Nokia_PC_Suite_rel_6_86_9_3_eng_web.exe).
The software installed successfully, and it seemed to detect the phone via the DKU-2 cable, but I wasn't able to access any of the information on the phone. This isn't really surprising, given that the phone wasn't really directly connected to Windows - it was going via a Mac USB 1.1 port, masquerading as a port on the "PC".
What I am wondering is what software do I need to use so that I can copy all the text messages from the phone (& the 14 pictures too if possible) to my computer, preferably with the sender names & folder structure intact, so that when I buy a new Nokia phone, I can copy them all to it? I've not decided on which new Nokia to buy yet. It might be the N95 8GB, the N96, or perhaps just a basic model. It will be a current model though, not a second hand one.
My first choice would be to use software that was Mac native, but I'm not sure if there is any that would do the job. My second choice would be for software that could run on the Windows 2000 Virtual Machine. If neither of these options are possible, I could borrow my Dad's 6 month old PC laptop, which runs Windows Vista Home Premium, and use that.
If anyone has any experience/thoughts on this, I'd greatly appreciate their (detailed!) input & advice. Although I've very experienced IT-wise, I have zero experience of mobile phone software.

Just to follow up from my previous post - I did indeed decide to keep the 6220 classic as my new phone.
Yesterday I installed the Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe driver from the CD
that came with my third party/fake DKU-2 cable onto my Dad's Windows Vista Home Premium laptop. Knowing through 15 years bitter experience working with PCs that once a newer version of a piece of software has been installed on a PC, it can often be impossible to subsequently install an older version, even once the newer one has been successfully "removed", I decided to install the 4 versions of PC Suite at my disposal in version order, with the oldest first, and if a version didn't work, to uninstall it, and then install the next oldest one, and so on.
I started with the version that's on the CD that came with my 6610 - version 5 point something. The installation went fine, and after re-starting, I followed the instructions to connect the phone to the computer with the cable. Unfortunately a Vista error message appeared saying there was a problem with the "unrecognised" USB device. PC Suite meanwhile just got stuck in a loop trying to connect to the phone. (The phone was switched on & unlocked!). After trying unplugging & replugging the phone etc, I uninstalled PC Suite, and then tried the same thing with the next oldest version of PC Suite that I have. This is version 6.6. The exact same problem occurred. I then uninstalled that and tried a version I had downloaded many months ago - version 6.86.9.3. The same thing happened, except this time after a while PC Suite gave up trying to connect and displayed a box offering links to places like this website that might help me solve the problem. I then uninstalled that, and then installed the current version of PC Suite - 7.0.8.2. The same thing happened as with 6.86.9.3.
There are, to my mind, 2 possible explanations for all this. Either the data socket on the phone is damaged in some way, which is possible, given that the phone got wet back in February and had to be repaired, and the first repair shop i took it to managed to dislodge the charging socket (which is right next to the data socket) during their botched attempts to fix the phone (another shop fixed this), OR, as I hope is the case, the cable is the wrong one, despite it fitting perfectly.
I've noticed that in several places (the phone's manual, readme files that come with the various versions of PC Suite, etc) that the DKU-5 cable is mentioned far more often than the DKU-2, which suggests that maybe I need a DKU-5. Also, if you go to the PC Suite download page and select the 6610, the cable that's mentioned is the CA-42. Another alternative is that the DKU-2 I have just doesn't work, given that it's not a proper Nokia cable.
Does anyone have any idea which cable I actually need to use to get the PC to talk to the 6610?
Also, in case you were wondering, the reason I tried 4 different versions of PC Suite rather than just the current version is that I've read on these forums that certain newer versions of PC Suite don't have certain features that certain older versions do, depending on the phone in question. This has caused much frustration for people, judging by the comments I've read. Given that what I want to do is to copy all the text messages from the phone (& the 14 pictures too if possible) to my computer, preferably with the sender names & folder structure intact, it may be a case that an older version of PC Suite will allow me to do that, but a newer version might not. This is especially true given how old the 6610 is. Of course it may be the case that an old version of PC Suite that allows me to copy the texts & pictures to the PC won't work with my new 6220 classic. If that's the case, I hope that I can install the current version of PC Suite over the top of the old version, and then copy everything onto the new phone.
If anyone has any firm ideas about what cable (& version of PC Suite) I should be using, I'd be most grateful.

You cant get both resultsets in SSRS. SSRS dataset will only take the first resultset
you need to either create them as separate queries or merge them into a single resultset and return with ad additional hardcoded field which indicates resultset (ie resultset1,resultset2 etc)
Then inside SSRS report you can filter on the field to fetch individual resultsets at required places. While merging you need to make sure metadata of two resultsets are made consistent ie number of columns and correcponding column data types should be same.
In absence of required number of columns just put some placeholders using NULL

Should I use a thread and (in this case) how?

I have a Swing frame (frameA) and on which there is a button; if I double click it,
it will bring up a second frame (frameB). On frameB, I will select a new button name
from a combobox, and click "DONE" button, and frameB would change the name of the
button on frameA to this new name I selected. And frameB would disappear as well.
I am thinking of using another thread for painting frameB, because I don't know how long
it would take for frameB to load up, and I don't want to block up the event-dispatching thread
on frameA.
However, since frameB uses another thread, and frameB also has an ActionListener
associated with the DONE button, i am not sure how to make the thread stay alive
so that it could check whether the ActionEvent is fired. So, in this case, is it necessary to use
another thread to do the job? Or should I just use the same event-dispatching thread?
Or is there another whole new approach much better?

Quite simply, I wouldn't bother threading it.
If you load, link and instantiate the pop-up frame (actually I'd use a Dialog here) before you trigger the pop-up, the reaction is more or less instant. The execution of th parent frame will continue after the pop-up has been made visible, so any way you cut it, you are going to get a brief pause in the parent UI while the pop-up is shown - you may as well have it when the button is clicked.

Should I use a Screen Protector with Otterbox Defender or Griffin Survivor?

I bought both of these rugged cases and keep hearing that the actual cases can scratch the phones. Should I use a screen protector on the phone face and back as well? I assume that may not fit in the cases if I do that. Anyone have any experience with these cases?

What component Should I use?, Jpanel doesn't work

I need a program that has a window that can go fullscreen and windowed (I did that with a Jframe in fullscreen mode with a jpnale and a 800x600 Jpanel and destroying them with an object that maneges them), I did it with a jframe that contained a Jpanel, I used a Jpanel to avoid the flickering on the screen but I also need to change the font type and the font size, but the setFont on the Jpanel doesn't change the font (as I have realized and also read here [http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=257&threadID=150588] ), so I'm lost, I might have to redo the whole thing, but I just wanted to know what component should I use for a window that is going to have custom graphics and need diffrent fonts and diffrent font sizes and work in fullscreen without flickering

What tools should I use to create a UI for an AEGP plugin for CS6 on a Mac

I see that for CC the suggested UI tool is HTML5, but what should be used for developing a plugin that must also run in CS6 on a Mac?

For CS6, you can create panels using ScriptUI, to add a custom panel to the Window menu.
A script like this would be installed here: ..\Adobe After Effects CS6\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels\
For ScriptUI, there is some documentation in the JavaScript Tools Guide, accessible from the ExtendScript Toolkit application > Help > JavaScript Tools Guide; and also here - http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/scriptui.html

You could use Microsoft Office for Mac, but I would recommend iWork! It's a better set of applications for a much better price. I have used both and I prefer it over Office. And Pages can not only open Word documents, you can also save documents in Word format. My brother and I both used iWork as an Office substitute when we were in college (I graduated a few years ago and he just graduated last night) and haven't had any compatibility issues. Which java should I use?

A box poped up and said I diddent have "java" cliked a linke, got to a page "oracle" not "java". Page looked horrible with a lot computer terminal talk. After reding that woodoo I dowloaded the recomended java. I was feeling ok.
New box pops up I say I still dont have Java. So I read that one should use an older version. Java 6. But my bank says i should always use the newest java.
So what to do? Its realy irritating to close that box all the time.

This is apple's latest release of Java - Last modified May 30 2014..
Infact Java 6 is touted as compatible for OSX Mavericks and later. There have been numerous security updates to to make it compatible, including a Yosemite update (Check additional information link from the link provided below.)

But I would start with 6, and systematically upgrade as per the guide if you need later versions for certain processes

At the end of the day Apple is trying to get away from Java
Java 6 is the most compatible with apple... It has done no compatibility work on the later versions from the information I read.
