Show Items in Subfolders

About two months ago I noticed that Adobe Bridge was not showing all of my files.  If I check "Show Items in Subfolders" they appear (or if I search for them).  I know I can go check this option every time I use Bridge but since I'm in it constantly, it is really a pain.  I'm not sure why this is happening because there are NO subfolders in this folder!  Any clues to this seemingly strange behavior would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I have no folders within this folder only files.  And some files show up without having the subfolder option chosen and some do not.  All are the same type of file also.  Oh, well, maybe I'll figure it out or maybe I'll just have to live with it.  Thanks.

  • Problem With Show Items In Subfolders, Windows 7 64

Is there a way to make "Show Items From Subfolders" persistent in Bridge CS5. I'm on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. If I click on this under View, if I go to another folder and come back, it will not show the flattened view. Another problem, it seems not to work on all folders. For example, if I click on Show Items, say for my 1981 folder, it will work. If I then switch to 1982, and click on Show Items, nothing happens.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Chuck

That is as designed, the moment you change view or use another window it returns to normal view. That might be sounding as a disadvantage but for normal work it should not start with flat view to my opinion so this seems the best solution.
However flat view should work on al folders, provided they have subfolders with content in it. If they don't show you should first select the folder itself and with the menu tools / cache choose purge cache for folder and then try again.
Also check if you have the correct permissions for your disk and or folders.
If you need to always view the content of a certain folder in flat view take an other approach, just move all the files in that one folder. If you relay on correct renaming consider a batch rename that adds for instance the year and date (yyyymm) in front of the already existing filename.

  • Can't Set Default for "Show Items From Subfolders"

I like to view several folders and subfolders at the same time...and then view another group of folders and subfolders, etc. etc. etc....and to do that I'm constantly going to View > Show Items From Subfolders because the command doesn't "stick."  I've looked around, and don't see a way to set "Show Items From Subfolders" as a default. Does anyone know a way to do that?
    Thanks for any help.

I've looked around, and don't see a way to set "Show Items From Subfolders"
as a default. Does anyone know a way to do that?
You can't do so and I'm still not sure you should, it is easy to forget
resetting it and when visiting a new folder with lot's of subfolders and
files not being cached it can slow down your workflow, but that is my
    personal opinion
An option for you might be to open a new window for a new search in
different folders. By default the new window reflects the current window
with all subfolder content but changes also to without viewing subfolders
after having clicked on a new folder. However switching back to the other
window(s) they still have the 'show subfolders' active.
Instead of switching folders you could switch windows (I often have multiple
windows active and cycle through them using cmd+` (tilde key).

  • Show items from subfolders not working

OK, this HAS to be something I've done............
    PC, Windows 7, Bridge CC.
Open folder.  It contains folders that have raw files, .dng files, and jpeg files.
Click and select "Show items from subfolders".  It tells me there are no items.
I'm pretty sure this USED to work on this machine.  It's been doing this for at least a week.  I don't have any filters set, or anything else that I know of.
I just tried it on the laptop, also Bridge CC, and it works fine.  Do I have some preference or what goofed up?

Yes, when I go to the subfolders, the images are there.  But when I go back to the parent and try to show images in subfolders it says there are none.  I figure it can't be Bridge 'cause I did the same thing on the laptop and the images in the subfolders display fine.
I don't SEE any filtering.  And I've closed Bridge and reopened it, which I think resets the filters and such?  Is there anywhere else I could be filtering?  Again, I've restarted Bridge.  I also tried different folders on different disks, and in every case it says there are no images.
I just checked preferences and I have that set to 5000MB, so anything smaller than 5GB should display, right?  These are RAW files in the 40MB range.  And when I go down to the child folder they display fine......
    Clobber Bridge and reinstall?

  • Why is "Show Items from Subfolders" disabled during search?

When viewing a folder with many subfolders, the "Show Items from Subfolders" command is avaiable and I can view all (10000+) files as a "flat" list. However, if I type a keyword in the toolbar's Search box, the "Show Items from Subfolders" command is disabled. That's a big problem for me when, for example, I want to see all photos that have "skiing" in either the filename or in any of the keywords without having to open each subfolder.
Is there a reason the Subfolders option is disabled? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Curt.
Checking the box searches the subfolders (which also happens if you enter the search time in the Search box on the toolbar), but the results are still displayed as folders that you need to navigate into (rather than displaying all the files that were found in the "flat" format which is what the "Show Items from Subfolders" menu command does).

  • Show items from subfolders won't stick when searching (CS5)

For some reason after selecting a folder, and making sure "show items from subfolders" is selected, when I do a search in that folder, "show items from subfolders" gets deselected. Any idea why this might happen? I'm pretty sure it has worked normally in the past.

I tried to index the entire sub-tree with no help. I noticed that when I restart bridge I get a message that bridge is unabled to read the cache. After purging the central cache I still get the above message after restart.
Well, in that case, it sounds like this is causing the problem. If you can't read the cache, then you probably can't read an index either.
Without knowing anything about your computer system, I'd suggest that you need to check for general account permission setup problems before looking at Bridge specifically.

  • Location bar show items from subfolders

When searching  a master folder in bridge using the show items in subfolders is it possible to limit the search to the first level of the master folder and exclude all nested folders?

I don't think so.  As I read it, 'Show Items From Subfolders' is defined to display the entire contents of a folder including its subfolders in a single continuous flat view.

  • "No Items" is displayed when "Show Items from Subfolders" is selected

When I select the "view subfolders" menu item in a folder with subfolders and items, Bridge indicates that it is indexing.  Then it displays "No Items". If I go to each subfolder individually, the images are displayed.  This only happends in some folders. I purged my cache, perhaps this is the problem but it didn't help. I found a similar discussion named "View Subfolders" from 2009 with a "Helpfull answer" linked to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/332/332992.html but it is now not available. My operation system is Apple OS 10.8.1.

  • Show items from Subfolders in order of folders

We want to create a contact sheet of all our images, but we need the order to follow our folder order and not alphabetical order for all the folders combined. I am on CS5, but do have access to CS6 if that can be done there.
    We need
    folder a (a-z)
    folder b (a-z)
    folder c (a-z)
    and not
    all folders combined a-z
our images are named by job number  and to rename each image with an abbreviaotn for brand be a huge task

Interesting, could be that us poor windows non cloud people might have to wait until CS7.
Of course I fully agree with the combination of poor and Windows...
But I'm not sure you have to wait for CS7, I don't think the update was needed for Windows perpetual license, only had something to do with the Retina Display of newer Macs according to this blog (did not read it fully myself):
    http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2012/12/photoshop-13-0-313-1-1-updates-now-availabl e.html
And the Cloud update was meant for problems occurring with Cloud install but yes, it seems they want to let benefit Cloud subscribers earlier with updates for newer features.
There seems to be a possibility to only subscribe for PS in the cloud but it also seems hard to find info about this, try the education section on the Adobe site.
It is also a choice, once you quit the Cloud you are on your own because you don't have a working copy left on your system like you do when having bought a copy yourself.
For me having PS, Bridge and Premiere Pro at hand including the option of also using InDesign, Acrobat Pro and Illustrator (need it to use occasionally) is very useful.  Having a small business myself, it was not a hard choice to make. Monthly predictable costs for the whole Master Suite and up to date software are very useful for my situation. It's all about weighing the pro's and con's.

  • Scope of Finder "show item info"

This is to document some apparently inconsistent behavior of the current Finder "show item info"  view option: In Finder icon view, view->show view options->"show item info". The purpose is display additional information, including number of files in subfolders, pixel size of still photos, and running time of videos. It only applies to icon view, not list or column view, which is documented.
In "show item info" there is an additional button to "use as defaults". The scope of this option is apparently undocumented and inconsistent. You might expect it would apply from the current folder downward -- sometimes it does and sometimes not. On my 2013 iMac running 10.9.3, it seems to be more consistent on the system drive than an external HFS+. Namely on the internal drive applying it at the root level with "use as defaults" seems to propagate that option downward through the folder tree, but on the external drive (Thunderbolt Promise Pegasus R4 RAID 5) it is less consistent.
In general "show item info" is only fully reliable if invoked separately for each folder. If invoked at a higher folder level, subfolders may or may not display the additional information.
The behavior is not isolated to a single user but happens for any logged-in user on the same machine.
Show item info is probably disabled by default for performance reasons. Obtaining the additional info requires I/O. Once obtained it is apparently cached. There may be other optimizations such as don't enable on sub-folders with more than x files, but this is speculation. Regardless of the cause, the current behavior is inconsistent.
If you want to see the additional "show item info", be prepared to enable it individually for each folder.

Folder layout is stored in the hidden '.DS_Store' files within each folder.
I suspect a newly installed OS will have very few .DS_Store files with custom settings so the default can propagate to the child folders. Did you clean install any of these 10.9 systems (erase the disk before install)?
On your external I'd guess that you have been using it for years & have tweaked various views etc. Some folders will be custom, some may not.
To see how many you have you can either use an app like FindAnyFile http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/ to search, or use the find command in Terminal.
    find -x / -name .DS_Store
FAF will need admin permission to show inside protected directories.
find will require a sudo to do the same e.g.
    sudo find -x  / -name .DS_Store
The -x will prevent find crossing onto any other disks (Time Machine disks can take eons to search).
Don't forget to use the /Volumes/VOLUME-NAME for the external disks, wrap it in quotes if you have spaces in the disk name. Drag & drop will auto fill the path with the correct escapes if you drop the disk into Terminal.
You may be tempted to just delete these files but there is additional metadata stored in these files. If you remove them you may lose Spotlight comments & possibly other metadata.
See the sources for links to better explanations…
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.DS_Store
Also have a look at http://asepsis.binaryage.com/#about if you want to prevent or purge them.
I'm sure there are lots of ranty posts on here about how this is a lousy system, but it's all we have

    Hi
I'm trying to come up with query report to show Inactive Item bought within a specific period and not sold within a specific period by whse and have stock
The report should show  Item Number, Item Name ,Item cost,Retail Price [Based on a price list], Qty in Whse, Last Purchase Date, Last sale Date etc.
e.g item bought between 2011-2013 and have not been sold with the same date range or the last 12 months.

    Hi,
    Try this query:
    SELECT T0.[ItemCode], T0.[ItemName], T0.[OnHand], T0.[AvgPrice], T0.[LastPurPrc], T0.[LstSalDate] FROM OITM T0  left JOIN INV1 T1 ON T0.ItemCode = T1.ItemCode left JOIN OINV T2 ON T1.DocEntry = T2.DocEntry WHERE T1.[Quantity] is null and  T0.[OnHand] >0 GROUP BY T0.[ItemCode], T0.[ItemName], T0.[OnHand], T0.[AvgPrice], T0.[LastPurPrc], T0.[LstSalDate]

  • Creating Query to show items from open sales orders with a/p invoice

    Hi experts,
I am trying to create a query that will show what items/quantities are still in open sales orders that can now be filled by an incoming shipment of goods, processed through the a/p invoice.
This needs to be done using subqueries, which I have no experience with.  I am trying to do this using the ORDR and RDR1 tables to show the open items from the sales orders and the OPOR and POR1 tables to show items just received in to inventory.  I would like the query to show exactly the open item's, their quantities, the posting date from the sales order and the customer name that can now be filled from the new shipment through the a/p invoice.
    I appreciate the assistance,
    Hayden (on behalf of Todd)

    Hello,
    try this
    SELECT T0.[DocDate], T1.[ItemCode], T1.[Dscription],( T1.[Quantity] - T1.[DelivrdQty]) As "Open Qty" FROM ORDR T0  INNER JOIN RDR1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry WHERE T0.[DocDueDate]  <= [%0]And ( T1.[Quantity] - T1.[DelivrdQty]) != 0
Try this query in query manager.
    Thanks

  • Showing Items with no transactions

I am trying to build a report that will show us items with potentially incorrect item status.  Item status (on table itmmas) is either A(ctive) or I(nactive).  The report should show all Inactive items which have had at least one transaction in the past 4 weeks AND active items which have had no transactions in that period.
My plan is to join the item master table to the item ledger table (itmldg) which lists all inventory transactions.  I can show the inactive items with transactions without a problem.
What I can't figure out is how to show items with Active Status that don't have any transactions.  I can't get CR to return a data set which includes ALL records from itmmas but only those from itmldg in the last 4 weeks.  I tried this SQL query:
    SELECT itmmas.itmiid, itmmas.itmdes, itmmas.itmsts, itmldg.ilgdno, itmldg.ilgdat
    FROM {oj itmmas  LEFT OUTER JOIN itmldg ON itmmas.itmiid = itmldg.ilgiid}
    WHERE (itmldg.ilgdat>={d '2009-09-01'})
When I run this query in MS Query and return the results to Excel, I get single lines for items with no transactions.  For these items, the fields from itmldg are NULL.  When I run this query in CR, I don't get any data for items with no transactions.
Can anyone think of a way to get this to work?

The issue that you have is that the WHERE clause in your SQL statement is only looking at an itmldg table field for a value.  This is effectively making your Left Outer Join an Inner Join, because when an itmmas record does not have an itmldg record, the date field will be NULL.  You have to add the condition "OR itmldg.ilgdat is null".
If you want to return ONLY the records that the report is interested in (which should have beter performance), change the SQL to
    SELECT itmmas.itmiid, itmmas.itmdes, itmmas.itmsts, itmldg.ilgdno, itmldg.ilgdat
    FROM {oj itmmas LEFT OUTER JOIN itmldg ON itmmas.itmiid = itmldg.ilgiid}
    WHERE ((itmldg.ilgdat>={d '2009-09-01'}) and (itmmas.itmsts = 'I'))
      or  ((itmldg.ilgdat is null) and (itmmas.itmsts = 'A'))

  • ITunes 10.6.1, Home sharing: Show: Items not in my Library

iTunes Home sharing's feature to only show items not in my library used to work great, allowing me to keep my main iMac library and my MacBook Pro library synced. But just recently, my main library can no longer seem to sort out what items are unique in connected libraries -- it only shows the books that I don't have. Doesn't display movies, tv, music that aren't unique. I get the whole libary but once I press "Items not in my Libary" it doesn't work properly. What's odd is that I'm fine the other way. My MacBook Pro has no problems with the "Items not in my Library" selection when looking at my iMac's library.
Has anyone noticed change for the worse in the behavior of Home Sharing with respect to showing items not in the local library? I've tried turning Home Sharing off, rebooting both computers, and then turning Home Sharing on. But that doesn't fix it.
