Show region on button click

Hi, I want to show/hide a region when user clicks on a button.
I saw the example in "http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:29:3342298547087148"
I created a region with static id = "REGION1"
I then created a button "Test" with button type as "Template Driven" and action as "Redirect to URL without submitting the page".
I selected the button template "BUTTON" and selected the Target as URL
In the URL Target section I have
$x_Show('REGION1');
but when I run this page, and when I click on the button Test, I get a javascript syntax error.
When I checked the call that is being made on clicking the button, I found that the call is as follows:
javascript:'redirect('$x_Show('REGION1');)'
This call indeed has syntax errors (notice the single quotes).
I am not able to solve the issue.
I read the "Advanced user guide" for APEX. The pdf also mentions the same steps to be able to call javascript function from a button. But this is not working.
What is wrong here?

I made the region conditional based on the value of a hidden item. The condition I used is "when item in expression 1 is not null".
Now initially, since the hidden item is null, the region is not shown.
When I click the button, I am setting the value of the hidden item to 'yes' using javascript :
$x('HIDDEN_ITEM').value = 'yes';
But this does not work. I am guessing that even if I use an application process to set the item's value, I'll have to submit the page to display the region.
I dont want to submit the page.
I want the same functionality that Carl has shown in http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:29:3342298547087148
except the initial condition where the regions are hidden initially.

  • Show chart region when button clicked??

    Hi All,
    i'm using apex 4.0
    initially i want to hide chart region,when clicked on button i want to show chart region...
    i have tried Dynamic actions ,show/hide but no hope...
    any one help me on this.. :)
    thanks in Adv.

    1. Firstly, make sure that the Chart region has a region template.
    2. If you don't want to use Dynamic Actions try something like the following:
    In the Region Definition set the Static ID = chart
    set the Region Attributes => style="display:none;"
    for the button set the URL = javascript:$("#chart").show();
    Cheers

  • Show form on button click

    Hello, I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0
    I have one button and one form on my jsf page. I want the form to be rendered when I click the button (to be visible). How can this be done in ADF?
    Thank you

    No offence, but have you read the post? I shows exactly your use case. OK, the title and the content is more about creating page variables. If you store the flag to hide/show the panel at a different place this is OK, still the actions you need to do are the same.

    I created a new button at the bottom of the region in a Hide and Show Region called [Next >]. The button is displayed to the right of the region.I only see it displayed to the right of the region in Firefox (Safari and IE8 showed it above the sub-regions). Not obvious to me why this is the case (it's usually IE that does it's own thing).
    I want it displayed at the right end of the bottom of the region.Button position Bottom of Region causes an anonymous HTML table containing the button(s) to be generated after the <tt>#BODY#</tt> placeholder in the region template. Your Hide/Show region template didn't have a <tt>#SUB_REGIONS#</tt> placeholder so by default the sub-regions were rendered after the <tt>#BODY#</tt> and the "Bottom of Region" button container (don't know if this is the intended behaviour or a bug). Adding <tt>#SUB_REGIONS#</tt> before <tt>#BODY#</tt> in the template gets things in the right order (button after sub-regions):
    <div class="hide-show-region" id="#REGION_STATIC_ID#" #REGION_ATTRIBUTES#>
      <div class="hide-show-top">
        <div class="hide-show-title">
    <div class="rounded-corner-region">
    <div class="rc-blue-top">
    <div class="rc-blue-top-r">
              #TITLE#</div>
    </div>
    </div>
           <a style="margin-left:5px;" href="javascript:hideShow('region#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#','shIMG#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#','#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_plus_dgray.gif','#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_minus_dgray.gif');" class="t1HideandShowRegionLink"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_plus_dgray.gif"
      id="shIMG#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#" alt="" />Click on arrow to enter/hide  information for signs and/or nameplates</a></div>
        <div class="hide-show-buttons">#CLOSE##PREVIOUS##NEXT##DELETE##EDIT##CHANGE##CREATE##CREATE2##EXPAND##COPY##HELP#</div>
      </div>
      <div class="hide" id="region#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#">
        #SUB_REGIONS#
        #BODY#
      </div>
    </div>Firefox is still showing the button to the right of the sub-regions. I'm assuming that this has something to do with everything in this theme being floated left (for reasons that escape me), so we'll try to clear the button container using CSS. The table doesn't have an ID or class so try an adjacent sibling selector using the ID of the preceding sub-region:
    #nameplates-name+table {
      clear: both;
    }Finally, the button alignment was set to "Left", so I changed it to "Right".
    Seems to be working in IE8 (all I have access to at present).

    Fixed CSS selector syntax.

  • Button to hide/show regions

    I need to hide/show regions of a page based on when the user clicks a button.
    I have added the buttons to my page. I see there is a display condition section for the region. How can I tie them together to hide/show.

    Quick fix.
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=9741:1 (test/test)
    placed a couple of buttons in a different region, both as just redirects.
    Show has the following pl/sql expression as condition
    :REQUEST = 'HIDE'
    Hide has the following pl/sql expression as condition
    :REQUEST IS NULL OR :REQUEST = 'SHOW'
    The region has the following pl/sql expression as condition
    :REQUEST IS NULL OR :REQUEST<>'HIDE'

  • To display region on a click of a button

    hi,
    I want to display a region on a click of a button which is in another region.I want when i click that button region containing button should get disappear and another region should get appear.when next time i open that page
    region containing button should appear first.
    second, i want to insert a check constraint on a field called mailid,that at time of inserting data in it ,it should contain '@'sign,if not a message should get displayed.
    pls can u help in out.

    Mak,
    To show and hide your regions, you need to use conditions, please review the following section in the HTML DB documentation for information on how to do work with conditions:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B12037_01/appdev.101/b10992/mvl_a_con.htm#sthref1724
    To validate your mail ID you could work with database constraints. However in order to customize your error message, I'd recommend using HTML DB validations, see the HTML DB documentation, chapter 7 for more information on how to work with validations:

  • Hide/Show a graph based on button click .

    I have to show a graph based on the values selected in the shuttle . The graph should be drawn only when a button( "Show graph") is clicked . My question is
    1) If the set the button's action to submit, it resets and empties the selected values in the shuttle . How do I prevent that ?
    2) How do I make the graph appear and disappear based on the button click ( Like a toggle button ) ?
    3) As I can draw the graph only from the values selected in the shuttle , the query parsing fails . However , the graph displays when the shuttle get populated with selected values . Is there a way to get around that .
    Thanks for your help .

    There is nothing wrong with your code, so I'd look elsewhere for the problem. Is this a direct copy of what you have on your page?
    :P1_COMBO1 in ('Option 1', 'Option 2')
    And
    :P1_COMBO2 = 'Option Combo 2'And the page item values are exactly as you have in the quoted strings? You might run the page in debug and confirm the page item values are exact.

  • Hide/show a form upon button click

    Hi
    I want to show/hide different form upon button clicks. Also I want to clear the data from a form upon button clicks. How can I achecive this? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Create one boolean variable in your datastore. Click of the button should set the value to false and you can bind the same variable to the visibility property so that you can hide and display accordingly. For making the values blank, you can put condition on the detault value formula IF(!<your datastore variable>,"",<value needed>)

  • When "show remote content" button is clicked remote content does not show. If I go back to the same email later "show remote content" is not on page.

    The "Question" basically out lines the problem.
    No remote content shows when the "show remote content" button is clicked. Once it has been clicked on a specific email, if I come back to the same email, the "show remote content" button is not on the email page and again no remote content shows in the body of the email.
    I am running an up-to-date version (24.4.0) of Thunderbird.

    Was able to load Windows in Safe Mode by pressing and holding F1 then F8. Then loaded Windows in safe mode with networking, but had no effect; no remote content in email and no "Show Remote Content" button.
    It was suggested the body of the email is "Plain Text" and the remote content is "HTML", so I checked the setting in "View" - "Message Body As" - "Original HTML" was togged on.

  • Show a custom component on button click in a view stack`

    Hello folks
    I have a view stack in which i have some custom components.
    Now there is one custom component in which there is one button. On the button click, i want to show another custom component but i dont know how to do it. Should i write the inline mxml click event in custom component?? If yes then how??
    Currently i am doing it as
    click="{customcomponent}"

    As you know, ViewStack  has containers, lilke VBox for its views.
    Assuming one of your views VBox has an id of myVBox, and that VBox has the Button that when clicked will display the component, just have the component in the view already, but you can make it invisible with visible=false and includeInLayout=false, and then upon button click set those two variables to true.
    You will probably want a show handler for the view VBox to make those properties false each time that view is displayed.
    Here is some simple sample code.
    If this post answers your question or helps, please mark it as such.
    ---------- MySimpleComponent.mxml ----------

  • Show image on the form Java WS gets image. Call this WS on button click

    Hi,
    Is there a way to show an image on the form. On the form I have along with the data I have a button that when clicked get and show the image itself on the form. I have a Java WebService that gets the image from the remote location. How can I make the button click event to call this Web Service and show the image on the form itself. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    WHiteSox, are you on client/server or web version.
    which version of forms are you using.
