Showing pdf file into an RTF report
Hi all,
At the end of my report I need to show a PDF file that I get from the table fnd_lobs, so in my xml I had a BLOB tag with the PDF. I know that this is possible with images using this:
<fo:instream-foreign-object content type="image/jpg">
<xsl:value-of select="IMAGE_ELEMENT"/>
</fo:instream-foreign-object>
But if my content type is PDF, it is possible to show it?
Thanks

Hi, I have this query to get a pdf file from the database:
select tl.description, do.file_name, lo.file_data
from FND_DOCUMENTS_TL tl
,FND_DOCUMENTS do
,fnd_lobs lo
where tl.document_id = do.document_id
and do.media_id = lo.file_id
and tl.language = 'PTB'
and tl.description = 'CONDICOES DA OC'
I´m going to have a column formula to return lo.file_data, so I will hava a tag xml with de blob on it. This blob tag should appear at the end of the report. But in my case is a PDF file.
Can you explain me what APIs are you talking about.
Thanks!

Hello
I need to convert a pdf file into a rtf file or doc file.
But i need to do this with a command line or with the api of acrobat.
My version is adobe acrobat 9 standard.
Is it possible to do this?
So i see there's a convert pdf online.
Is it possible to use this whith a web service?
The final file (RTF or doc) must be analyse into an application
Best regardsLook at the doc.saveAs JavaScript method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html
You can save to other formats when you include the corresponding cConvID parameter. It can be used in a batch sequence, but you'll need the Pro version for that. -

Integrating an Exisitng multiple page PDF file into a report and outputting as one PDF
Post Author: sditmer
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
We would like to be able to PDF files into a report based on a file name contained in the detail of the report. For Example, I have some data in our database relating to a specifc PDF file including the name of the PDF that I would like to print in the header of the report and then print the actual PDF as the detail of the report. The PDF may be multiple pages so I would like the remaining pages of the report to follow on each page of my crystal report. Essentially I am trying to merge a report header onto a mulitple page PDF file as a single report. Is this possible to do out of the BOX with Crystal? Do I need some other tools to do this?Post Author: IdoMillet
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Consider a 3rd-party tool as a solution (for a list of such tools, see http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html).My Visual CUT software allows you to automate the process of merging the pdf export of your reportwith a pdf file named based on a formula in the report. The resulting merged pdf file can automatically be printed or emailed. -
How to show the pdf file into the UIWebView from iphone documents directory?
Hi ,
I am working on web services right now I am getting string into base64 format. After decoding that string into NSData i am saving that data as a pdf into Document directory of iphone. Now the problem is that when I want to show the pdf into UIwebView then it is showing blank page. But when I am checking into /Users/pareshkarnawat/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/4.3.2/Applications/ the pdf file is correctly generated and working fine when I ope it.
How to show that pdf file into UIwebview ? or is there any alernative for this.
Any ideas on how I can go about this? I have looked at a few posts and still can't seem to figure it out.
Any idea's appreciated, thanksThe result is a UIWebView that displays a blank page. No errors occur in the UIWebView delegate method. The thing is that data has the correct length, in bytes, for the PDF I am trying to display, and I also get the pdf file in Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/4.3.2/Applications/ Does anyone have an idea as to what might be going wrong here or how I can better debug this problem?

PDF file created from Oracle Report is attached wrongly
Hi,
Please help. It is very urgent.
I am using Oracle Developer 10gR2, Oracle Report 10.1.2 on Windows 2000.
I would like to attach the PDF file created by Oracle Report to the Notification sent from Workflow.
I use the following package procedure in my Workflow.
procedure Create_File_Attachment (document_id in varchar2, display_type in varchar2, document in out blob, document_type in out varchar2)
is
l_itemtype varchar2(100);
l_itemkey varchar2(100);
l_output_directory varchar2(30);
l_filename varchar2(255);
src_loc bfile;
bdoc blob;
src_offset number := 1;
dst_offset number := 1;
amount number;
begin
l_itemtype := substr(document_id, 1, instr(document_id, ':') - 1);
l_itemkey := substr(document_id, instr(document_id, ':') + 1, length(document_id) - 2);
l_output_directory := 'USR_TMP_DIR';
l_filename := Wf_Engine.GetItemAttrText(l_itemtype, l_itemkey, 'ATR_FILENAME');
src_loc := bfilename(l_output_directory,l_filename);
dbms_lob.createTemporary(bdoc, FALSE, dbms_lob.call);
dbms_lob.fileopen(src_loc, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
dbms_lob.loadblobfromfile(bdoc,src_loc,dbms_lob.lobmaxsize,src_offset,dst_offset);
dbms_lob.fileclose(src_loc);
amount := dbms_lob.getLength(bdoc);
dbms_lob.copy(document,bdoc,amount,1,1);
document_type := 'application/pdf; name=attach.pdf';
end Create_File_Attachment;Oracle Report created the PDF file correctly (original.pdf).
I tried to attach the PDF into my Workflow.
I can see the file is attached (attach.pdf), but it cannot be opened.
The Adobe shows : 'A drawing error occured.' each time I open the attachment.
I compare the original.pdf and the attach.pdf
However, there is one specific difference
- in original.pdf, the line started with '.' (single period)
in attach.pdf, the line is started with '..' (two periods)
Thus the attachment cannot be opened.
After I delete the period, it can be opened.
Question:
- Has someone ever succeed in attaching the PDF created from Report?
- Are the codes above is wrong?
- Or perhaps the DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE always double the single period on front of the line?
- Is there any solution on this?
Note:
I have succeed in attaching PDF files unless the PDF created by the Report.
Sorry for the long post.
Please help. It is very urgent.
Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks,
BuntoroThe code looks absolutely good. I have the same code working in my system. Only difference is I use TRUE and DBMS_LOB.Session for the BLOB I use to read from the BFILE.
I can suggest one more way to handle to binary attachments if you are on Oracle 9i DB are later versions.
procedure attach_document (p_document_id in varchar2,
p_display_type in varchar2,
p_document in out nocopy clob,
p_document_type in out nocopy varchar2)
is
l_nid number;
l_directory varchar2(100);
l_filename varchar2(100);
l_content_type varchar2(100);
l_src_offset binary_integer := 1;
l_dst_offset binary_integer := 1;
l_err_msg varchar2(100);
l_amount number;
l_bfile BFILE;
l_blob BLOB;
l_clob CLOB;
file_not_found exception;
pragma EXCEPTION_INIT(file_not_found, -22288);
begin
l_nid := to_number(p_document_id);
l_directory := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_DIRECTORY'));
l_filename := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_FILENAME'));
l_content_type := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_CONTENT_TYPE'));
l_bfile := BFILENAME(l_directory, l_filename);
dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_clob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
begin
dbms_lob.FileOpen(l_bfile, dbms_lob.File_Readonly);
exception
when file_not_found then
l_err_msg := to_char(sqlcode)||' - Attachment File "'||l_filename||'" is not found.';
raise_application_error(-20002, l_err_msg);
end;
dbms_lob.LoadBLOBFromFile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.LobMaxSize, l_src_offset, l_dst_offset);
dbms_lob.FileClose(l_bfile);
-- Encode the BLOB content to BASE64 and attach to notification
wf_mail_util.EncodeBLOB(l_blob, l_clob);
l_amount := dbms_lob.GetLength(l_clob);
dbms_lob.Copy(p_document, l_clob, l_amount, 1, 1);
-- Mention an appropriate Content Type so that Notification System
-- understands the attachment content
p_document_type := l_content_type||'; encoding=base64; name='||l_filename;
end attach_document;Here I read the BLOB from the filesystem and base64 encode it before giving it to the Mailer. Please note that this is a PLSQLCLOB based attachment as against PLSQLBLOB that you are using.

How to load PDF files into oracle database and display them in APEX
Hi All,
We have a requirement for loading the Loading PDF files (lots of PDf files) to the oracle database and then display the PDF files in the Oracel APEX report.
So that User can view the PDF files. Our current APEX verison is 3.2..
Please let me know how to implement it and where to find the sample application!
Thanks in advanced!
JaneThanks Tony for your quick response!
We need to load a lot of PDfs (history + current).
I have a questions about the SQL loader. I am trying to insert a pdf file into a table by following the oracle loading sample:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/text.920/a96518/aload.htm
Example Data File: loader2.dat
This file contains the data to be loaded into each row of the table, articles_formatted.
Each line contains a comma separated list of the fields to be loaded in articles_formatted. The last field of every line names the file to be loaded in to the text column:
Ben Kanobi, plaintext,Kawasaki news article,../sample_docs/kawasaki.txt,
But i don't know to where should I put my pdf file on the server.
for example:
,../sample_docs/kawasaki.txt,
Where is the file 'kawasaki.txt'??
I try my local path, it didn't work. like c:\temp.
then I loaded teh PDf file into our server(/findev20/olmtest/orafin/11.5.7/olmtestcomn/temp) , and In my data file. I put the path
1, pdf_emp1,../findev20/olmtest/orafin/11.5.7/olmtestcomn/temp
but I got the error: the system can not find the file specified.
Where should I put the PDf files on the server and how to specify the path in the data file?
Thanks!

Embedding a PDF file into PowerPoint 2010, clickable in SlideShow mode
If you embed a PDF file into PowerPoint slide by both draging and dropping or instering it as an object, only the first page of the PDF is embedded as a picture or you can change it to a PDF icon.
When in design mode, the embedded PDF is clickable and is opened in Adobe Reader (either from the PowerPoint slide if directly insterted or from its physical path if linked depending on the configuration).
But in slide show mode, the picture or the icon is not clickable.
The only workaround is to assign a hyperlink to the picture or the icon (the insterted object).
Is there any other way in opening a PDF file from PowerPoint Slide Show without assigning a hyperlink ??Hi,
Assign a hyperlink is the only way to accomplish Open file (.pdf, .docx, .xlsx) from PowerPoint Slide Show.
From PowerPoint slide show, it only identify the file with hyperlink.
Best Regards.
