Showing XML data

Hi all,
i have to create a table in the DDIC where i have to store some XML data and informations.
ID -> char
date -> date field
desc -> char
xml -> ????
What datatype shall i use to store my XML Data ?
Later in a Dynpro i need to show this XML Data. What type of control shall i use to show this XML Data ?
Can i use the browser control ? If so ... how can i pass my xml data to this control ??
Greetings
Henning

You can create a field of data type STRING if you are planning to store your XML in string or RAWSTRING if you are planning to store your data in XSTRING.
You can use the Simple CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER to display your XML data stored in STRING or XSTRING. Take a look at the FM DISPLAY_XML_STRING.

  • Data view not showing XML schema based Interface

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to create a Interactive adobe form by following a step-by-step tutorial.The steps I have followed :
    1. Created a WD ABAP component with just one field.
    2. Created the context node and also an atribue for PDF Source.
    3. Add an Interacive form UI element.
    4. Activated the View.
    5. Add template source and assigned the context node to generate a XML based interface.
    6. It created Interface successfully.
    7. But when I open the Adobe form, the context fields are not showing in data view as data sructure..
    What could possibly be the reason for it. Please guide me why data structure is not showing.

  • XML data via JS not showing in I.E.?

    Hi there,
    I'm using Javascript to get the xml data and display it on the XHTML page.
    This works fine in all the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera....but as per usual not in Internet Explorer.
    UPDATE: forgot to mention.....I'm testing this from my machine and not live.   Could this be a reason why it's not working on I.E. because the files are on my computer and not on a server???
    Any advice greatly appreciated! HTML Code below...
    <div id="testimonials">
                    <h1>Testimonials</h1>
                    <script type="text/javascript">
                                    if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
                                      xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
                                    else // Internet Explorer 5/6
                                      xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
                                    xhttp.open("GET","resources/testimonials.xml",false);
                                    xhttp.send("");
                                    xmlDoc=xhttp.responseXML;
                                    var x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("testimonial");
                                    for (i=0;i<x.length;i++)
                                      document.write("<p>");
                                      document.write(x[i].getElementsByTagName("text")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue);
                                      document.write("</p>");
                                      document.write("<p>");
                                      document.write(x[i].getElementsByTagName("name")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue);
                                      document.write("</p>");
                            </script>
          </div> <!-- END of DIV Testimonials -->
    Cheers!

    Thanks for the attachment, I'll try and make some sense of it- although I'm not very good with JS!
    I think it's the XML HTTP Request part that isnt working.
    It all works fine in all the major browsers except I.E.?
    Not sure if you've seen my update but does it matter that I'm testing the site from my machine and not on a server?  Does I.E. expect all the files (or the XML file at least) to be sitting on a server to make the XMLHttpRequest() work?

  • DataGrid does not display XML data

    Hello, and thanks for reading this...
    I am having a problem displaying XMLList data in a DataGrid.
    The data is coming from a Tree control, which is receiving it
    from a database using HTTPService.
    The data is a list of "Job Orders" from a MySQL database,
    being formatted as XML by a PHP page.
    If it would be helpful to see the actual XML, a sample is
    here:
    http://www.anaheimwib.com/_login/get_all_orders_test2.php
    All is going well until I get to the DataGrid, which doesn't
    display the data, although I know it is there as I can see it in
    debug mode. I've checked the dataField property of the appropriate
    DataGrid column, and it appears correct.
    Following is a summary of the relevant code.
    ...An HTTPService named "get_all_job_orders" retrieves
    records from a MySQL database via PHP...
    ...Results are formatted as E4X:
    HTTPService resultFormat="e4x"
    ...An XMLListCollection's source property is set to the
    returned E4X XML results:
    ...The "order" node is what is being used as the top-level of
    the XML data.
    <mx:XMLListCollection id="jobOrdersReviewXMLList"
    source="{get_all_job_orders.lastResult.order}"/>
    ...The "jobOrdersReviewXMLList" collection is assigned to be
    the dataProvider property of a Tree list, using the @name syntax to
    display the nodes correctly, and a change event function is defined
    to add the records to a DataGrid on a separate Component for
    viewing the XML records:
    <mx:Tree dataProvider="{jobOrdersReviewXMLList}"
    labelField="@name"
    change="jobPosForm.addTreePositionsToDG(event)"/>
    ...Here is the relevant "jobPosForm" code (the Job Positions
    Form, a separate Component based on a Form) :
    ...A variable is declared:
    [Bindable]
    public var positionsArray:XMLList;
    ...The variable is initialized on CreationComplete event of
    the Form:
    positionsArray = new XMLList;
    ...The Tree's change event function is defined within the
    "jobPosForm" Component.
    ...Clicking on a Tree node fires the Change event.
    ...This passes an event object to the function.
    ...This event object contains the XML from the selected Tree
    node.
    ...The Tree node's XML data is passed into the positionsArray
    XMLList.
    ...This array is the dataProvider for the DataGrid, as you
    will see in the following block.
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    this.positionsArray = selectedNode.positions.position;
    ...A datagrid has its dataProvider is bound to
    positionsArray.
    ...(I will only show one column defined here for brevity.)
    ...This column has its dataField property set to "POS_TITLE",
    a field in the returned XML record:
    <mx:DataGrid width="100%" variableRowHeight="true"
    height="75%" id="dgPositions"
    dataProvider="{positionsArray}" editable="false">
    <mx:columns>
    <mx:DataGridColumn width="25" headerText="Position Title"
    dataField="POS_TITLE"/>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    In debug mode, I can examine the datagrid's dataProvider
    property, and see that the correct XML data from the Tree control
    is present. However, The datagrid does not display the data in any
    of its 6 columns.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello again,
    I came up with a method of populating the DataGrid from the
    selected Item of a Tree Control which displays complex XML data and
    XML attributes. After the user clicks on a Tree branch, I call this
    function:
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    //Retrieve all "position" nodes from tree.
    //Loop thru each Position.
    //Add Position data to the positionsArray Array Collection.
    //The DataGrid dataprovider is bound to this array, and will
    be updated.
    positionsArray = new ArrayCollection();
    var selectedNode:Object=event.target.selectedItem;//Contains
    entire branch.
    for each (var position:XML in
    selectedNode.positions.position){
    var posArray:Array = new Array();
    posArray.PK_POSITIONID = position.@PK_POSITIONID;
    posArray.FK_ORDERID = position.@FK_ORDERID;
    posArray.POS_TITLE = position.@POS_TITLE;
    posArray.NUM_YOUTH = position.@NUM_YOUTH;
    posArray.AGE_1617 = position.@AGE_1617;
    posArray.AGE_1821 = position.@AGE_1821;
    posArray.HOURS_WK = position.@HOURS_WK;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_FROM = position.@WAGE_RANGE_FROM;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_TO = position.@WAGE_RANGE_TO;
    posArray.JOB_DESCR = position.@JOB_DESCR;
    posArray.DES_SKILLS = position.@DES_SKILLS;
    positionsArray.addItem(posArray);
    So, I just had to manually go through the selected Tree node,
    copy each XML attribute into a simple Array, then ADD this Array to
    an ArrayCollection being used as the DataProvider for the DataGrid.
    It's not elegant, but it works and I don't have to use a Label
    Function, which was getting way too complicated. I still think that
    Flex should have an easier way of doing this. There probably is an
    easier way, but the Flex documentation doesn't provide an easy path
    to it.
    I want to thank you, Tracy, for the all the help. I checked
    out the examples you have at www.cflex.net and they are very
    helpful. I bookmarked the site and will be using it as a resource
    from now on.

  • Master Detail XML data in reports

    Hello,
    Can some one show a simple way of creating a XML data like below? I am trying to generate a PO report in PDF. the PDF document can print multiple POs with lines.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <PO_HEADER>
    <PONUMBER>123</PONUMBER>
    <POLINES>
    <ITEM> BOLT </ITEM>
    <QTY>1 </QTY>
    <PRICE> 123</PRICE>
    </POLINES>
    <PO_HEADER>
    <PO_HEADER>
    <PONUMBER>222</PONUMBER>
    <POLINES>
    <ITEM> BOLT </ITEM>
    <QTY>2 </QTY>
    <PRICE> 2</PRICE>
    </POLINES>
    <PO_HEADER>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    looks like I need to add multiple queries to the reports
    Apex-->Application-->Shared Componets --> Report Queries -- Create New
    and I can get result in <ROWSET1> <ROWSET2> etc.. I actually need the xml data in above format. Is it possible?
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Textbox shows xml text in working file but now when loaded into another SWF

    Hi all,
    I have downloaded an xml gallery (as2) as we needed one for an old as2 file. Now I mostly use as3 but thought as I only needed to tweak it there would be no probs. Of course, it rarely works out that way. The problem is, text loaded from the xml file is displayed with its corresponding image. This works fine in the file. When I load the SWF into another SWF however, it all works EXCEPT the text doesn't show at all?? Whoever made the gallery used 'device fonts' in the textbox, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I tried changing the textbox to dynamic and embedding characters but still nothing.
    This seems the key line -
    _root.descmc.desc.htmlText = XMLdaten[number];
    I have also tried
    _root.descmc.desc.htmlText = XMLdaten[number].firstChild;
    This traces out the correct xml data when tested so it is finding it okay.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    The problem might be in the use of the "_root"  You probably need to set _lockroot = true; in the loaded swf, otherwise the _root is that of the loading swf, not the loaded one.

  • Importing XML Data Back into the Form

    I have a form that shows several subforms based on the selections the user has made while filling in the form. This is working quite well but when I import the XML data back into the form it doesn't show the subforms that have been used.
    Is there an easy way to change this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Emma

    Actually the issue may actually have to do with the fact that the connections aren't bound, but I haven't seen the data.
    I have some fairly complex forms that include both subforms and instances, have an XSD embedded and export as XML. When I import the data, everythi
    Now, that being said...
    Are your subforms "hidden" and you opt to display them upon selection of a radio button for example, or do you SetInstances()? If you're using visible=TRUE or FALSE, that may also cause some issues.
    Try this -- on Form:ready try this code:
    if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(1);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(1);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(1);
    else { // this is fisrt time open -- i sometimes had issues with subforms being visible on first entry
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    Then on:Click essentially copy most of the code you put in form:ready
    if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(1);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(1);
    _subform3.setInstances(0);
    else if(this.rawValue == "on"){ //this radio button 1
    _subform1.setInstances(0);
    _subform2.setInstances(0);
    _subform3.setInstances(1);
    Of course this will go on top of your radio button group.
    If you are exporting to XML, it will make your life a whole lot easier, by the way, to import an XSD and bind your nodes, especially as your forms and data start to get more complex.
    Finally, you may also know this but -- unless you have Forms Server, any user that wants to export the data or import the data will need to have at least full Acrobat Professional. If you want people to be able to save data in the form but import/export isn't that important, they will need to have full Acrobat.
    I hope that helps a bit. Good luck!

  • XML data (Output) into a flat file

    I need to convert XML data into a flat file, which is having "|" as delimiter and ftp the same to a server. The XML data is an output of BPEL activity. The XML data is employee records. Each employee records should come as one line in the flat file.
    Is it possible to do this? if so, what will be the steps
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You need to use file adapter to write your XML payload as a flat file.
    Following are the steps to write XML payload into a flat file:
    1. Create a sample flat file and add few rows in which fields should be delimited with pipe symbol. See the record sample given below:
    Name|Age|Address|City|State|Zip
    Sam|32|2788 Viking Dr|Green Bay|WI|54304
    Here first row is the header row, you can remove the header row if it is not required.
    2. Create a file adapter service using adapter configuration wizard. Give file name and folder location where you want to write flat file. On step 5 of the adapter configuration wizard you have to define or select message schema. Click on Define Schema for Native Format button, then Native Format Builder Wizard will be opened, here you can define message schema for your flat file.
    2.1 Here you need to select Delimited for file type.
    2.2 Give details about your flat file, select your sample flat file here, which you have created in step 1 above.
    2.3 Click Next button twice and go to step 4, here give namespace and element names you want and click on Next.
    2.4 In step 5 you need to specify delimiters. Wizard doesn’t shows *|* as a delimiter so you need to enter *|* in the Delimited By combo box and click on Next button.
    2.5 Complete remaining steps and click on Finish in the wizard.
    3. Finish "Adapter Creation Wizard". Add BPEL activities (assign, invoke) to pass XML payload to file adapter and file adapter will generate *|* delimited flat file and write it to the given folder.
    See the following article for more details on Native Format Builder Wizard:

  • Error while passing date parameter to the XML data definition

    Hi All,
    I have developed a BI publisher report using XML data definition & RTF template.
    This data definition contains a SQL query in it's CDATA section and runs as a concurrent program(without RDF) . We are looking to pass a date parameter to the SQL query and its not accepting the date parameter. However, when we hardcode SYSDATE in the SQL query in place of the parameter, the report runs fine. In the log file it shows that the parameter is being treated in American date style and we are using DD-MON-RRRR format. I have tried to convert the date format however still the error exists.
    What we did ?
    Created a XML data definition which contains the SQL query in its CDATA section & p_rundate (DATE) parameter.
    Registerd the XML data definition as concurrent program with EXECUTABLE= XDODTEXE and Output format as XML with p_date as a date parameter.
    Looking for any available solution for the same.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your answer. I downloaded the JDBC AddressBook application and I found it very usefull. I was able to populate a datalist from a datasource and show it in my application. My problem still remains in the sense that I am unable to show the KPI data in a "custom node" meaning I woul like not only to extract directly the database record to a datalist object but also put the information of a single record in a textbok and a gauge and keep control of paging. I think this is done with the parser in the other examples but I can not figure out how to do it with MySQL and the new Desktop screen designer. Should I use a clip object? or is that managed already by the desktop screen designer? or where can I find an example with the functionality I need?.
