Sidebar expand folder functionality/ file tree structure

Is there a way to get "favorites" that I've added to my sidebar to expand in Mavericks? I'd like to show a file tree structure in the sidebar. This would make it SO much easier to move image files one folder up. Right now I have to have multiple folders open or have columns view which doesn't enable me to have a usable thumbnail preview in the working folder. Please help!
--Francesca

No.   The sidebar does not provide that; there's no hierarchical navigation within the sidebar.
If not already doing so, you might consider using tabs for your various Finder views.
Otherwise, there might be a different option available as a Finder alternative.

  • Copy folder with files in structured format

    All Experts,
    I am new to indesign and javascripting. i need to copy the folder with files (structured folder) from one location to another location with the same folder name. i tried the file copy file.copy(), this is copying only particular file, i need to copy the folder with structured format. ie folder, if any sub folder...
    Thanks,
    sag

    Sorry for the delay in response.
    I assume both sagkrish and Mac_06 are either the same person or working together?
    When you said:
    when we execute your code it's showing error "cannot compile the script".
    were you trying after fixing the missing double-quote (my post of 1:42am)?
    If not, maybe one of the Windows folks could better advise. The official Microsoft help for XCOPY is http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/xcopy.mspx? mfr=true that might be differently helpful than Jongware's link, which is good, too.
    I can't quite tell if you're having a problem if you run the XCOPY command from the CMD.EXE Windows Command Prompt. If you are, well, it's not really an InDesign scripting question, but maybe we can help you anyhow. But you'll need to give us a lot more specifics on what is breaking. Does it work with other directories? Are there network filesystems involved? Are the source and destination directories outside of the running user's home folder?
    If you're having problems overwriting files, you might try adding /R.
    (Does anybody else want to test it?)

  • Collapse All and Expand All functionality in Tree

    Hi All,
    I am using TreeByNestingTableColumn element to display the tree hierarchy .
    Does anyone knows how to implement Collapse All and Expand All functionality for this tree (if someone have sample code for these functionality then it will be great for me) ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Ravindra Sahu,
    Code for EXPAND ALL button:
    *step 1:Access node

    Denis,
    Do you have [red hair|http://www.dennisthemenace.com/]? ;-)
    My advise with the tree structure is pretty short and sweet... make each node remember
    1. it's parent
    2. it's children
    That's how the file system (inode) actually works.
    <quote>
    The exact reasoning for designating these as "i" nodes is unsure. When asked, Unix pioneer Dennis Ritchie replied:[citation needed]
    In truth, I don't know either. It was just a term that we started to use. "Index" is my best guess, because of the
    slightly unusual file system structure that stored the access information of files as a flat array on the disk, with all
    the hierarchical directory information living aside from this. Thus the i-number is an index in this array, the
    i-node is the selected element of the array. (The "i-" notation was used in the 1st edition manual; its hyphen
    became gradually dropped).</quote>

  • How to get the folder name of selected subitem in tree structure?

    Hi All,
               I created a tree structure like below.
             ->Folder1-- 1
                              2
                              3
            ->Folder2-----1
                               2
                               3
                    i.e i have two folders & each folder having the values like above.Now i want to perform some action by clicking on the any of the values.Suppose if i click value 2,i want to do some action.the actions need to perform is varies from floder to to folder.
            So How can i get the folder name of clicked Value?
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Kumar ,
    the below code should help you.
    Register the below action for the leaf node for which u need the subfolder's name above it.
    Worked fine in my system ...hope it does in ur scenario too
    method ONACTIONGET_PATH .
      data : lr_element TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,
             lr_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
             ls_path type string,
             ls_path_node TYPE string,
             lt_string type TABLE OF string,
             l_lines type i,
             l_lines_1 TYPE i.
      lr_element = wdevent->get_context_element( 'CONTEXT_ELEMENT' ).
    **-> getting the path of the node/leaf
    *which  u had clicked and from that getting the node above it
      ls_path = lr_element->get_path( ).
      SPLIT ls_path at '.' into table lt_string.
    -> remove the first 2 entries as they will contain the view name
      DELETE lt_string FROM 1 to 2.
      l_lines = LINES( lt_String ).
      l_lines_1 = l_lines - 1.
    -> remove the last 2 entries as they will contain the element in the path
      DELETE lt_string  from l_lines_1 to l_lines.
      LOOP AT lt_string into ls_path.
        CONCATENATE LINES OF LT_STRING into ls_path_node SEPARATED BY '.'.
      ENDLOOP.
    **-> getting access to the node above the leaf element
    LR_NODE = WD_CONTEXT->PATH_GET_NODE( path = ls_path_node ).
    lr_element = lr_node->get_element( ).
    **-> Getting the name of the folder...
    *here path is the attribute in my context which stores the name of the folder
    lr_element->get_attribute( EXPORTING name = 'PATH' IMPORTING value = ls_path ).
    endmethod.

    There are about 3000 files and the folder is a server.
    Well, that would certainly do it, especially since you said it's on a server, hence a network drive.
    In this case i was looking for a progress for the List Folder to use that in a progress indicator for the user.
    Unfortunately, there is no built-in mechanism for this. Perhaps you can organize the files in such a way that you can get a list of them in "chunks", based on some search pattern. Or perhaps you can organize them in folders so that you dynamically populate the subfolders when a user wants to see what's inside.
    Aside: having 3000+ files in a folder is a poor way to orgranize files, especially on a server, as this leads to a massive amount of file I/O and network I/O burden on the server.

I've only been able to load parent data but can't get the hierarchy of the tree with the indents and child data to work.

    Thanks Tanya,
    However, I'm still stumped on how to copy (from text file) to other columns in the tree (from one tree to another).  I can only get the first column to load.
    I've attached my working VI and a textfile that I use to load into the "User list" tree.

  • 'Expand All' icon in a tree structure?

    Hi experts,
    If we create a tree UI element in ABAP WD, we automatically get a 'Collapse All' icon.Is it possible to have a 'Expand All' icon as well?
    thanks in advance,
    Pras

    Hello Pras,
    You will not get any Collapse All icon when you create a tree UI Element .
    You can expand or collapse the tree by clicking on the  Parent Elements in the tree.
    If you want to explicitly handle the Expand All and Collapse All functionality you need to put a button in the toolbar with name Expand ALL and handle it explicitly by setting attribute EXPANDED to abap_true for each and every element in the tree for Expand All action and vice versa for Collapse All.
    Hope this is of some help.
    Regards,
    Ismail.

  • "List Folder" function does not work any more on compiled .exe files in LabVIEW 8.2

    I used "List Folder" function in a splash screen VI to read the number of the subVIs within the .exe file. The number was used to create a progress bar. It worked with LabVIEW 8.00 but with 8.20 I get the error code 13 that means "LabVIEW:  File is not a resource file."
    I wonder is it a bug or a feature? Up to now I could not find any info about changing the .exe file format.
    If it is a feature, is there a way to get the list or any other information to make a progress bar 0...100%?
    With best regards,
    Mikhail Nagoga

    In LV 8.2, NI changed the exe format so that it no longer functions as an LLB. As far as I know, this is a feature and will not be changed back. I think it was changed to support some sort of security requirements in Windows Vista, but I don't remember where I got that notion from.
    As a workaround, you can build the exe as a small exe with an LLB or maybe save the list of VIs elsewhere (for example, have all of them as subVIs of the splash screen).
    Try to take over the world!

  • UIX Tree: "Expand All" Functionality

    Hello,
    I have a question about the Tree in UIX. We are using the Tree component in a UIX Page (JDeveloper 10.1.2). With the tree we also make use of the ClientStateTreeDataProxy class.
    It is possible to expand and collapse the tree, but I want to have 1 button to be able to expand all nodes on the first level of the tree or if this isn't possible to expand all the nodes.
    I have try to simulate this using struts actions, but I'm unable to simulate the state request-parameter. I also try to look if something is possible with the ClientStateTreeDataProxy class. Which possibilities are there to manipulate the tree component?
    Thanks, Dennis

    Thanx Jeanne,
    You brought me on a idea with the UIX Developer's Guide and EXPANDABLE_EXPANDED value.
    I couldn't figure out how the expand property was filled, because it wasn't done in the ADF BC ViewObject. We have a Utility class that creates a DataObject from the ViewObject Data and here the expand property was set.
    Now it was easy to build a ExpandAll option. It is possible to access the HttpServletRequest object were the DataObject is created. By setting a attribute in the request I could react on that and give the expand property indeed the value EXPANDABLE_EXPANDED.

  • Creating a tree structure like Windows file explorer using Jdev

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to develop a tree structure like windows in JDEV and then same page I want to move to oracle apps.
    This tree I am creating for Showing Employee information. Like Parents & childs under it. i.e. Managers and employee reporting to managers.
    Please let me know if it is possible, if yes how , what is method of doing this.

    Yes. This possible with ADF Faces RC, which provides an af:tree component. Have a look at the Fusion Order Demo, which uses the tree to implement a similar usecase to the one you describe.

  • Loading in tree structure from arraylist

    Hi,
    I have a ArrayList contains xml file path like
    ArrayList al={"/folder1/sub1/sub11/1.xml",
    "/folder1/sub1/2.xml,
    "/folder1/test1/3.xml",
    "/folder2/sub2/4.xml",
    "/folder2/sub2/sub3/5.xml"}
    Note: 1.This arraylist objects are dynamically loaded.
    2.The objects in array list are not file system directory path like (e.g., C:/folder1/sub1/.....). Its string added in arraylist.
    using this arraylist i want to load it in jsp tree structure, like
    folder1
    |___sub1
    | |_sub11
    | | |__1.xml
    | |_2.xml
    |___test1
    |_3.xml
    folder2
    |
    |_sub2
    |___4.xml
    |___sub3
    |___5.xml
    Can any one help me with logic or predefined function in java to iterate each string array object and split parent and sub child folder and load it in tree.

    Create a Node class that has a name and Map<String, Node> as children.
    Iterate over the list, split each entry on "/", and place the parts that you get into the Node structure.
