I need sample example of passing parametars to method using task flow.
I have one view and on method activity;
How can i for current row in view activity call method to do something like

How to Use No DB connection App with task flow desined as 'New Transaction'

My application is fully depend on Custom java datasource implmentation and it requires no DB connection at all. I've done necessary implementation (http://andrejusb.blogspot.in/2012/03/use-case-for-adf-bc-with-no-database.html) by creating CustomDatabaseConnectionStrategy that says

I get some exception (I guess the moment I try to open the task flow, it is trying to get the connection. Since there is no connection available, It gives me this error. Is it so?)
One of my client requirement is to open the same screen under multiple tabs as a fresh screen (i.e. with different transaction. We do transaction through tuxedo transaction server). If I load a screen under first Tab with some data, added some record, deleted some record.. and If I load the same screen under another Tab, it should not refelect the same data whatever I have under first Tab.
Requirement:
I don't have DB connection in my app. But I should be able to define the task-flow to open with new instance of Application module whenever it is opened.
Your help on this would be appreciated.

If I understand you requirements correctly, you do not need ADF taskflow transactions but you just need fresh DataControls. If it is so, then you do not have to set the taskflow's transaction behaviour to "Always Begin with New Transaction" (e.g. keep it to "No Controller Transaction"), but set the DataControl frame to "isolated" (e.g. uncheck the "Share data controls with the calling task flow" checkbox in the taskflow's Property Inspector). In this way each taskflow instance will be started in a different DataControl frame (e.g. it will instantiate its own set of ApplicationModule instances).

Possible to use menuBar with task flow based ADF menus?

I've just worked through the " [Create ADF Menus for Page Navigation|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/cuecards111/adf_set_43/ccset43_ALL.html] " tutorial. It shows how to create menus based on your task flows.
My question: is it possible to use the af:menuBar with these menu models (instead of navigationPanes or breadcrumbs) ?
I am using JDev 11g 11.1.1.1.0

Hi,
The XML menu model extends the Trinidad TreeModel, which extends Collection model. This allows you to access the hierarchical menu structure so that you can use af:iterator to build a structure to display in a af:menuBar

How to use Train Component only with Task-flows as Train Stops

Hi,
I'm using JDeveloper version - 11.1.1.6
I have below requirement:
In a Page when user clicks the button, display the Popup with Train Component. I have to use bounded task flow for each Train Stop. I don't have any views to be used as Train Stops. (Most of the Train Samples have Views / JSFF Fragments as Train Stops and child task flows as Train stops)
Please let me know if I can achieve this.
Any pointers would be helpful.

Hi,
train stops must be displayed on a view. So if you have a task flow that navigates to other taskflows then it needs to have at least a single view to display the train stops. If you attempt to show. If you enter a task flow then this task flow will have its own train model. So maybe its better to look at what your use case is and why you need to quite called task flows without properly exiting them

Make sure you have the JSTL tag library selected in you deployment plan. Go to Project Properties->Deployments->your_deployment_profile->WWB-INF/Lib Contributors and check JSTL.

I have read many documents regarding How to call OSB from Task Flow. But this time my requirement is reverse.
I have one OSB running on web logic server. some External System will send request to this OSB. Upon receiving request, OSB will call business service which should call task ADF flow.

Reuse Task flows without Page fragment

I ve seen some examples with task flows being resued inside regions and using page fragments.
However , my requirement is little different and would like some inputs on this.
I have an authentication module to be used in different ADF applications.
I have a login page(not a page fragment) and a router and task flow return activity in the resuable bounded task flow.
We are having a managed bean to check authentication and we have a page flow scope variable which marks success or failure and hands it over to router which inturn routes to task flow return if successful, else routs it back to login page if failure.
When i use this BTF in a consuming task flow(BTF) and add the module as an ADF library, everything is fine except it is not lauching a welcome page upon success and just stays on the same login page.
I have the ADF security on with the redirect page given upon successful authentication as the welcome page.
The welcome page is in the consuming application and not part of the authentication module itself.
In the consuming task flow, i have a control case from the Authentication task flow call activity to the welcome page and the control case rightly given success as outcome automatically bcos of task flow return in the consumed task flow.
Any input to launch the welcome page upon successful authentication is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
you cannot authenticate users in a bounded task flow and expect to redirect you successfully. The redirect only happens if authentication is handled by the ADF Security authentication servlet redirecting the call. So your bounde task flow needs to return an outcome and your consuming application should have a wild card navigation case defined that then redirects to the welcome page

Task flow-call as a Dialog with inline-popup issue JDev 11.1.1.2.0

I have a very serious issue with task flow-call running as a Dialog with inline-popup
have bunch of data driven table components pointing to pageDefs with Iterators
the problem is, the dialog comes first with nothing in it (blank) and it takes 3-5 seconds to fetch all views,
this is useless, there is no option to control taskflow-call activation , like you do for af:region

Download the workspace , connect as HR Schema and you will see what I am talking about
looks really dumb, it would make sense to show dialog with data all at once, rarther than looking at blank screen to wait for the data to show up

sometimes I wonder if anyone tested this, as soon as you have some data driven components on your page, you get all sorts of problems in ADF
But something simple, Adf client side invokes the Dialog as a popup first, and then it thinks oh ya I get massive pageDef to load, so end-user customer will stare at the blank screen for 10 secs , hoping that something will come up or program is crashed

Use task flow or simple pages in CRUD?

using JDeveloper 12c.
In my case I use task flow to create a simple CRUD, i have two task flow, for it in the first I have a employees table and a button to create a new employee, the button has an action to go to another task flow where I have a Method call of CreateInsert which in turn go a view activity that has a form to create an employee.
The problem is, when committing task makes a return to the main flow but the table not refreshes with the new employee, every task flow isolated handled transactions.
I recommend, work the CRUD with task flow or single pages?

UI Shell - how to allow ADF Library Bounded Task Flow to close itself

Further to my other post, we're having lots of fun with the UI Shell, it's making mockups very easy.
Question for you though based around the functionality defined in the UI Shell whitepaper. Say we've created our UI Shell application, and rather than wanting to create the bounded task flows in the app (ie.first, second, third), we create them as standalone bounded task flows deployed to ADF Libraries, and imported into our app separately.
In the UI Shell examples bounded task flows are opened & closed via the UI Shell's own components (say the navigation page items or toolbar buttons), that call the methods in the Launcher bean (_launchActivity & closeCurrentActivity). It's fairly simple to rewrite the launcher helper methods in the launcher bean to call an imported ADF Library bounded task flow to open it as an activity, just referencing the correct task-flow.xml file.
However as you know a bounded task flow has a "Default Activity" entry point and one or more "Task Flow Return" exit points. What I haven't been able to work out is how when the bounded task flow exits via a task flow return, can we call the closeCurrentActivity method in the Launcher bean? The UI Shell code examples demonstrate closing a bounded task flow by menu options/or similar outside the bounded task flow in the UI Shell, but it would seem reasonable if the bounded task flow exited via a "Task Flow Return" we should be also able to close the activity tab too.
(....and as extension, before we even do that potentially call the checkState/isDirty() method to stop the user closing the activity too, but again driven by the bounded task flow attempting to exit).
I could imagine inserting code into the bounded task flow finalizer to close the activity tab, but this pushes the UI Shell tab activity management logic into our standalone ADF Library bounded task flows which isn't ideal, especially if we want to later reuse them in another app which doesn't use the UI Shell.
Any suggestions welcome.

And we're back again.... what's a couple months between friends?
So it turns out after testing our app (d@mn, so close) that we've hit a bug with this approach.
Our current app allows one BTF to be open in the UI Shell at any one time. Our menu options automatically open one BTF at a time by the user (max one open), and close the previous BTF. However we have some "special" BTFs that require the user to explicitly close the BTF, which in turn makes use of the regionNavigationListener solution I described earlier in this post.
However we discovered a bug when we do a complete cycle of the 15 embedded regions within the UI Shell.
Say we:
1) Open a normal BTF in region 0
2) Open another normal BTF in region 1 (our solution automatically closes the previous BTF)
3) We then open another BTF (again the previous BTF is closed) in region 2, yet this a "special" BTF requiring the user explicitly to close it. Upon the user closing the BTF - this results in the regionNavigationListener being called and the removeTab() method called to close down the BTF in the UI Shell
4) The user then open/closes multiple normal BTFs, one by one, rotating through regions 3, 4, 5 .... eventually back to 1 again
5) Then the bug occurs - on opening any BTF back in region 2 (as part of the complete cycle of all regions), the tab for the region 2 opens, correct title, and via debugging the Tab.class has all the right settings including taskFlowId, but the tab is incorrectly empty

I've managed to track a symptom of the problem down that may explain what's happening.
Each time a tab is rendered with a BTF, the Tab classes getBinding() method returns a reference to the binding required for the current BTF. However for some reason on the complete cycle, for "r2" it returns the binding for the previously user-closed BTF from step 3 above, even though we called the TabContext.removeTab() method.
What I haven't been able to work out is how the bindings get turned on/off dynamically for each BTF being invoked. Presumably for some reason on step 3, the BTF's bindings aren't being correctly removed from r2 even though we called TabContext.removeTab().
If anybody has any brain waves about what's going on and how to fix this problem, your help appreciated.

How to Call an ADF Bounded Task Flow Located in Another Web Application

Hi.
I'm working in JDev 11G TP3.
I've read the section from the 11G documentation on Working with Task Flow Activities,
specifically the section 15.5.3 on How to Call an ADF Bounded Task Flow Located in Another Web Application.
I've followed the instructions but still can not seem to call another task flow in another application correctly.
Can someone send a small example specifying how the (TaskFlow Reference) section
should be filled in, and just a general simple outline of process to set the whole process up.

Your EL for the remote-app-url needs to return something like this

where "http://www.acme.com:80/myapp/faces" is the root of the url you'd normally use to access the remote application.
I filed two bugs:
bug 6944247 to improve the documentation
bug 6944246 to fix the fact that you currently have to specify the 'adf.task-flow' part. You shouldn't need to do that. But doing so for now will get it to work.

ADF Security, Task Flow as a region in a page resource grant

JDeveloper 12c (12.1.2); Application uses ADF form based security, external LDAP provider (Active Directory)
After sign-in page (upon successful authentication/authorization) user is forwarded to a page that executes VO method prior to render. I am new to task flow concept and am told to achieve this like:
- create bounded task flow, with method call activity (execute exposed AM method that calls VO method, runs custom SQL) and view activity as page fragment.
- then drop the above task flow into a page as a region
In ADF security setup, I gave resource grant task-flow to certain application role. Started the application, login and got 403 error. Then went back and gave resource grant 'view' to the actual page that contains task flow. It worked fine.
So the question is, when protecting application (implemented with task flows) with ADF security, I thought it is enough to grant those task flows to whatever application roles (groups) and inherently any page that uses that task flow(s) (as a region) will be protected?
From this test, it seems that I have to assign each page (that has task flow as a region) to application roles individually?

any page that is contained in a bounded task flow is protected by the task flow permission grant, this is correct. If this is not what you see, please file a bug with support or send me a simple reproducible test case please. My mail address (replace all < name > with the described symbol.

Can ADF Faces Dialog Framework be used in a Bounded Task Flow ?

I have read chapter "19 Using Dialogs in Your Application" in the Jdev documentation.
There explains that there are mainly two methods to open dialogs in ADF:
The first (point 19.2) is calling a bounded task flow from a view activity (for example). This system can only open modal windows.
The other is using the ADF Faces Dialog Framework and it seems to be more general. In point "19.3.1 How to Define a JSF Navigation Rule for Opening a Dialog" it is explainied the way to achieve this but the explanation begins with "In the adfc-config.xml file, create a page flow for".
does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?
I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.
Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups, but this doesn't work with task flows and I don't like this.

does this mean that I can not use this technology inside a Bounded task flow ?ADF Faces Dialog Framework can be used in both unbounded and bounded taskflows.
I have tried and it seems that it doesn't work.The command commponent outcome must begin with "dialog:" and the command component tag must have useWindow="true", for example:
<tt><af:commandButton action="dialog:toEdit" useWindow="true" .../></tt>
Currently we are using af:showpopupbehaviour to open popups<af:showPopupBehaviour> can be used to open inline popups, but it has nothing to do with the Dialog Framework. Inline popups and the dialogs of the Dialog Framework are two different things.

What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config - when delpoy ?

What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config? When I create navigation between pages with ADF task flow then the navigation don't work when I deploy my application to Weblogic 10.3. When I use default server then navigation works fine. With Faces_config in both situations all works ok - on Stanalone server and default.
Where is the problem?

Shay, I don't use both faces-config and adf task flow! When I failed with task flow I tried faces-config.
I have active on my weblogic - adf.oracle.domain(1.0,11.1.1.0.0). This is the right ADF? If yes then where is the problem?
