Simple if evaluating to false

I got the following to work before, i don't know if it's something i've modified in my code but the keeps evaluating to true.
* Write a description of class test here.
* @author (your name)
* @version (a version number or a date)
public class Bananna
    // instance variables - replace the example below with your own
    private String color = "YELLOW";
    if (!color.equals("YELLOW")  || !color.equals("GREEN") ) // if this banana's color is NOT equal to yellow or green then...
        System.out.println("I guess you haven't eaten a bananna before.");
    else {
        System.out.println("You're a genius!");
}

if i take away the OR (||) condition it evaluates to false

  • CRM Survey: Simple Survey Evaluation

    Hi Forum,
    I created one Survey using CRM_SURVEY_SUITE and I would like to extract result using Simple Survey Evaluation.
    I set the flags Evaluation without Business Information Warehouse and Save completed Questionnaire.
    When I press the button Evaluation, I always get the message "No Data is available for evaluation".
    Is it really possible to extract results without BW ?
    Thanks a lot and best regards.

    Hi Joaquin Fornas  & Saozinha,
    Thanks for your information on survey evaluation in the above threads.
    I am able to survey using CRM_SURVEY_SUITE and i am able to extract the results using survey evaluation in GUI.
    Now i want to know the how to get the results in IC WEBCLIENT for  a survey. I am using CRM 7.0 VERSION.
    Can any one tell me is there any settings required to get the survey results in IC WEBCLIENT without BIW Evaluation.

  • Simple expression evaluator

    Hi all,
    need some help with an expression evaluation:
    user inputs a string like "x*x+dx*dy" or "x*dx-y*dy" and I
    would like Flash to covert this to an actionscriptline so in the
    code it appears like:
    x=3;
    dx=0.6;
    dy=0.1;
    aa=x*x+dx*dy;
    trace(aa);
    and the output would be: 9.06
    Now my problem is converting the operator.
    Anybody for a solution for this newbie?
    thnx
    Rob

    Ok, so I think my advice stands then...
    You could write your own expression parser, using eval("x")
    when you came to parse an x in the string etc...and its probably
    not too complicated to do if you're just dealing with
    multiplication and addition.... or you could use existing code like
    the example in the link I posted earlier to parse the expression
    (I've used that code before for something more complex).
    If you were writing your own parser you could use eval("x")
    ...but if it were me... I would do the opposite. That is to split
    and join the string with the variable names, subsitituting their
    values into the string and then run it through that expression
    parser. Its basically just calculating a string version of a
    numeric expression then with no variables.
    For your variable --> value substitution (split and then
    join) you need to do it in the order of the
    dx and dy
    then x and y
    so you get it to work correctly.

  • Parameter.islinked always evaluated to false

    <p>There is an earlier thread (<a href="/node/492">http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/492</a>) which mentions a bug where Parameter.IsLinked always returns false. Is there any update to this? When trying to create a viewer, I get a "Operation illegal on linked parameter" since values end up being set on a linked parameter.</p><p>I would&#39;ve replied to the original thread, but the page is only viewable when not logged in (?), and thus can&#39;t login and reply.</p>

    I initiated a support incident with BO and their initial response was that there would not be a fix for this in the current version.  They acknowledged the issue and we able to reporduce it. I am in the process of writing a business case to help support the escalation of this issue in hopes it will be fixed as I have around 200 report with multiple sub reports in the application I am trying to upgrade to CR XIR2.Â

  • Help required to customize Simple/Advanced Search. Need to add new fields

    Hello,
    Module: Oracle Sales Online
    EBS version: 12.1.3
    Jdev version: 10.1.3.3
    Scenario:
    - We are dealing with standard oracle pages.
    - We have TWO "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH"s available. Each "Simple/Advanced Search" can be found by navigating through paths "A --> B" and "A --> B --> C --> D" . Here it means one "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH" page is available at page "B" and another "SIMPLE/ADVANCED SEARCH" is available at page "D".
    - In the first search page which is at page "B", both Simple as well as Advanced search has a filter field "Win Probability %", of type VARCHAR2/DROPDOWN with values (10, >=10, <=30, 30, >=30, <=50, 50, >=50, <=70, 70, >=70, <=90, 90, 100)
    - In second search page, referring to page "D", the Simple search DOESN'T have the "Win Probability %". And the Advanced Search page has the "Win Probability %" but it is of type - NUMBER/MessageTextInput type.
    Issue/Requirement:
    - The 2nd Simple/Advanced search pages need to have "WIN PROBABILITY %" field and it should be of VARCHAR2/DROPDOWN with values (10, >=10, <=30, 30, >=30, <=50, 50, >=50, <=70, 70, >=70, <=90, 90, 100) just like the way we had in 1st Simple/Advanced search.
    Note:
    - Again speaking we are dealing with standard oracle pages
    - If you go to the "About this Page", interestingly I found:
    i. The "message component layout" for both of them is from the same region , i.e., ASNOpptympSrchRN
    ii. Rest of the search filters for both the searchs are from common View Object , i.e., OpptySearchVO1 (for Simple search), OpportunityDetailsVO1 (for advanced search)
    iii. The "Stack layout" for both the search pages are same, i.e. XXMASOpptyQryCO
    iv. None of the fields are rendered to false (everything is set to be rendered TRUE)
    Any response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anand
    Edited by: 933590 on Jul 19, 2012 8:18 AM

    "XXMASOpptyQryCO is the name of stacklayout or CO?
    What is the CO?
    Does both pages share same CO?
    have you already extended the CO "XXMASOpptyQryCO"?
    what is the original CO then? I think in that CO it must be written somewhere, simple search "search allowed = false""
    -Here CO what you are referring is a controller.
    -FYI pages share same controller.
    -And the original controller for both the pages are OpptyUwqCO. Right now its extended controller is XXMASOpptyQryCO
    Fact is I didn't create this search page. It was built by some third party members. Also that I do not have the original source nor the documentation pertaining to it. So could you inform as in how should I navigate to the point "Search Allowed = True"
    I should have informed that at "B" page, it has a region      /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/ASNMgrOpptyQryRN and at page "D", the region is      /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/ASNOpptyQryRN

  • Simple Course Survey - error message?

    I get an Acrobat Reader error
    Acrobat does not allow connection to: mailto: [email protected]?subject=course Appraisal Survey.
    Any ideas why the error from a mailto:???
    gazzzz

    No. I made a simple Course evaluation form. In LiveCycle Designer LC (part Acro 9 Ex Pro)When my client try to the Email Button They get a obtuse error.
    Acrobat does not allow connection to:
    mailto:[email protected]?subject=Course Appraisal Survey.
    Apparently LifeCycle and Acrobat are not that compatible - go figure
    I have tried extending rights in reader but still does not work..
    From trawling thru the Net the best advice is rebuild the form in Acrobat NOT LiveCycle. Extremely underwhelmed at the moment

  • Treatment evaluation of variable

    Good afternoon!
    Again I come here to ask for guidance!
    I am developing processes in the ODI, which variables to use validations.
    First give value to a variable through a SELECT, then I evaluate this variable.
    If the condition is true, the flow continues PACKAGE.
    If the condition is FALSE the execution flow ends, but I wanted the LOG OPERATOR, stay as Red (Error).
    I'm researching how to do this, but I wonder if anyone here has any suggestions for how to treat it.
    I thank a lot!
    Hugs.

    If the condition is FALSE the execution flow ends, but I wanted the LOG OPERATOR, stay as Red (Error).
    What you can do is after variable evaluation becomes False then call a procedure which gives an error .This will ensure that in operator you have RED with the info about this procedure.
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

    Thanks and Regards,

    For installing JSTL, all you need are the jar files in the web-inf/lib directory.
    - No entries in web.xml
    - no tld files lying around
    - no problems!
    I think you may have a versioning problem here.
    What version of Tomcat are you using?
    With JSP1.2 (eg Tomcat 4), you should be using JSTL1.0. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    With JSP2.0 (eg Tomcat 5), you should use JSTL1.1. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    Note the difference in the URIs. - the second one includes a /jsp
    Currently you are using the URI for JSTL1.0, but you look to have the tld from JSTL1.1. If you are using a JSP1.2 container, I don't think it could read this tld file, hence the error.
    Try installing the correct version of JSTL, properly (ie as they tell you in the readme file) and it should all work.

  • Intermittent import library generation failure building 64-bit binary in Visual Studio 2013

        I have a 64-bit c++ project that randomly fails to build because the import library generation silently fails in the link step.  I have scoured the "diagnostic level" log trying to find some hint at why the import library
    fails to be created, but there doesn't seem to be any information.
        It's pretty random.  When it fails, I can do a clean build and everything builds.  After a successful build, I can do another clean rebuild and see it fail again.
        The 32-bit version consistently builds fine.  I see the 64-bit problem regularly in any configuration (Release or Debug).
        I'm running VS2013 Update 2 RC.
        Any hints on how to debug this?  Is this a known issue for which there is a patch?

    Hi Anna, thanks for the reply.  Yes, this does reproduce in MSBuild if you specify a rebuild.  As mentioned previously, if you do a clean and build, even through MSBuild, the build succeeds every time.
    There's no way for me to create a sample project.  Our codebase is quite large and this doesn't reproduce for simple example projects.
    There is no error message when the iTunes.lib import library fails to build.  The import library is used in a dependent project and that fails in a way you would probably expect (complains about a missing .lib)...
    Here's the relevant section from my diagnostic build output.

    Is it a bug? Do I understand the documentation incorrectly? Do I use the API incorrectly?

    Yes, I've noticed the difference between ConditionalPut and ConditionalPutAll. Ther constructor are:
    * Construct a ConditionalPut that updates an entry with a new value
    * if and only if the filter applied to the entry evaluates to true.
    * This processor optionally returns the current value as a result of
    * the invocation if it has not been updated (the filter evaluated to
    * false).
    * @param vFilter the filter to evaluate an entry
    * @param ohValue a value to update an entry with
    * @param fReturn specifies whether or not the processor should
    * return the current value in case it has not been
    * updated
    ConditionalPut(Filter::View vFilter, Object::Holder ohValue,
              bool fReturn = false);and
    * Construct a ConditionalPutAll processor that updates an entry with
    * a new value if and only if the filter applied to the entry
    * evaluates to true. The new value is extracted from the specified
    * map based on the entry's key.
    * @param vFilter the filter to evaluate all supplied entries
    * @param vMap a map of values to update entries with
    ConditionalPutAll(Filter::View vFilter, Map::View vMap);
    ConditionalPut has an extra flag for returning the new value. It does work with a call to invoke, I've tested it. Why can't we do the same with ConditionalPutAll? Do I have to N ConditionalPut instead of 1 ConditionalPutAll in order to know if my values have been updated?
    ConditionalRemove has the same flag than ConditionalPut:
    * Construct a ConditionalRemove processor that removes an
    * InvocableMap entry if and only if the filter applied to the entry
    * evaluates to true.
    * This processor may optionally return the current value as a result
    * of the invocation if it has not been removed (the filter evaluated
    * to false).
    * @param vFilter the filter to evaluate an entry
    * @param fReturn specifies whether or not the processor should
    * return the current value if it has not been removed
    ConditionalRemove(Filter::View vFilter, bool fReturn = false);But when used with invokeAll, it doesn't return any value as shown in the example I've sent. Is it a bug or a designed feature?

  • BPEL While Loop Issues

    I have a BPEL process that polls a DB table for records. The DB Adapter has the both Database rows per transaction and Database Rows per XML set to 10. A While loop in the BPEL process loops over all the 10 records, applies suitable transformation and continues with processing. For testing purpose, I inserted 15 records into the table. As expected, 2 instances of the BPEL process were created. The first instance received 10 records and the second one 5. The second instance processed all 5 records but the first instance executes the loop just once, then the condition is evaluated to false and the rest of the records are not processed. Since the second instance is able to loop through all the records, the configuration is correct. I am not sure why the first instance is exiting the loop after just one iteration. I have a simple bpel process to reproduce this issue and I can share it. Following are the versions used:
    Jdev: 11.1.1.7
    BPEL: 1.1
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Divya

    I have uploaded the BPEL project as well as the sample DB:
    https://community.oracle.com/docs/DOC-893469?sr=stream

  • VPD - what happens if predicate already coded on sql statement?

    Does anyone know, when using VPD, what happens if a where clause already exists on an sql statement that a policy predicate would duplicate?
    ie the examples are all simple, like adding a "where customer = xx" to a statement like "select * from customer_tab"
    what if the user-entered statement is instead "select * from customer_tab where customer = yy", and then the VPD policy appends "where customer = xx" to that? That would result in an error, unless VPD is intelligent enough to handle this condition.
    Can anyone tell me what VPD will do in this scenario?

    Yes, the VPD is sufficient intelligent to this.
    In this in case that the message is returned below:
    ORA-28115: policy with check option violation
    Cause: Policy predicate was evaluated to FALSE with the updated values.
    Action:     none

  • Taglib and JSP problem

    Hi!
    I cannot determine why I'm getting the following error:
    I've installed Apache Tomcat/4.0.6
    "PARSE error at line 6 column 19
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element type "taglib" must be declared."
    Can you tell why the parser does not recognize it?
    Appreciate any help.

    this is a wild guess, but make sure the taglib text you added to your web.xml doens't contain funky characters you may have copied from some web page. i.e. retype it by hand if you copied it.
    If that isn't it.. sorry i don't see a problem.

  • Booleans API Functions into SQL SELECT

    Hello,
    our API is using a huge set of boolean «is_{what we want to check}» functions. These simple atomic functions are used into more sophisticated PL/SQL funcs or procs.
    Sometime, we need to use these bool funcs directly into our SQL queries.
    Here is a simplified example we want:
    SELECT id1, id2, is_valid(id1, id2)
    FROM table
    WHERE ... stuff ...;
    or
    SELECT col1, col2, ...
    FROM table
    WHERE is_valid(id1, id2) IS TRUE ;
    or
    SELECT col1, col2, ...
    FROM table
    WHERE is_valid(id1, id2) = TRUE ;
    to be valid queries....
    I know that booleans aren't supported natively in the SQL, I created a function that translate bool to char:
    FUNCTION bool_to_char (p_bool IN BOOLEAN)
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    IS
    v_retour VARCHAR2 (5);
    BEGIN
    v_retour := CASE p_bool
    WHEN TRUE
    THEN 'TRUE'
    WHEN FALSE
    THEN 'FALSE'
    END;
    RETURN v_retour;
    END;
    So, when I call this func into my sql, it's not working anymore:
    SELECT id1, id2, bool_to_char(is_valid(id1, id2))
    FROM table
    WHERE ... stuff ...;
    or
    SELECT col1, col2, ...
    FROM table
    WHERE bool_to_char(is_valid(id1, id2)) = 'TRUE';
    I'm searching for a solution to make this possible... The only fast solution that came in my mind is to encapsulate every boolean functions to return a corresponding varchar value. Not that good....
    Any ideas or suggestions?

    SQL standards have been developed over the years and whilst some vendors have tweaked SQL functionality to make their database better than others, one thing that is not part of SQL standards is support for BOOLEAN. 3GL and 4GL languages most often support boolean values, which are represented internally as a binary number.
    For those interested, in some languages the BOOLEAN is represented as -1 for TRUE and 0 for FALSE. In binary, -1 is represented as all the bits set to 1 whilst 0 is all the bits set to 0. There was a nice feature in one of the BASIC versions (I think it was BBC Basic if I remember correctly) that allowed you to use booleans within assignments such as...
    x := y + (z AND (y < 100))If the "y<100" condition evaluated to TRUE, this would translate as...
    x := y + (z AND TRUE)which, in binary terms (let's assume all numbers are single bytes for illustrative purposes) would be...
    x := y + (z AND 11111111)The "z AND 11111111" would perform a logical AND between the z value and the binary 11111111 resulting in a value of z... giving...
    x := y + zIf the condition evaluated to false on the other hand it would go as follows...
    x := y + (z AND FALSE)
    x := y + (z AND 00000000)So, "z AND 00000000" would logically AND to give a result of 0 and thus giving...
    x := ySo it was useful to use in conditional arithmetic, avoiding having to put IF statements in the code.
    Getting back to the thread...
    Using PL/SQL functions so extensively in SQL is a bad idea as it will inevitably cause a lot of context switching between the SQL and PL/SQL engines. This will have a noticable effect on performance of queries. Where possible, if the test can be done within SQL, then it should be done there rather than calling PL/SQL.
