Parameter.islinked always evaluated to false

<p>There is an earlier thread (<a href="/node/492">http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/492</a>) which mentions a bug where Parameter.IsLinked always returns false. Is there any update to this? When trying to create a viewer, I get a "Operation illegal on linked parameter" since values end up being set on a linked parameter.</p><p>I would&#39;ve replied to the original thread, but the page is only viewable when not logged in (?), and thus can&#39;t login and reply.</p>

I initiated a support incident with BO and their initial response was that there would not be a fix for this in the current version.  They acknowledged the issue and we able to reporduce it. I am in the process of writing a business case to help support the escalation of this issue in hopes it will be fixed as I have around 200 report with multiple sub reports in the application I am trying to upgrade to CR XIR2.Â

  • Parameter Query for True or False values

    I have what seems like a painfully simple task and it has me stopped dead.  I reviewed a similar thread, and the answers there don't seem to apply. Working in Crystal 11.5 with an MS SQL database.
    I am pulling data from vwCommmittees.  There is a field in this view called IsActive.  I want to create a committee list report that will allow the user to select only the active committees or all committees.
    A SQL select statement that says where dbo.IsActive = '1' will return only the active committees.
    In Crystal reports, if I place the IsActive field on the report, it returns with "True" or "False."
    When I create a parameter for this field, I find that 1) I can't see the parameter in the report expert -- my only choices are Is any value, Is true, Is false or Formula.
    I've made several attempts to create a formula and nothing is working. It's not clear to me wheter I should be creating a static or a dynamic parameter.  When I choose boolean as the type, that doesn't seem to help.  I tried a dynamic parameter which gave me true and false values, but don't seem to work.
    Any pointers on dealing with this kind of parameter query would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Ridge (in New Joisey)

    Hi..
    Create a static parameter and give the default values like
    0 and 1
    In Record Selection check like..dbo.IsActive = {?parameter}
    If the above is not working for you, then create a formula
    like..
    If dbo.IsActive = '1' then
    "Active"
    Else "In Active"
    Place this formula on your report and create a static parameter with default values Active and In Active.
    In record selection filter the above.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

    I got the following to work before, i don't know if it's something i've modified in my code but the keeps evaluating to true.

  • LOG_CHECKPOINTS_TO_ALERT question

    Is this a good practice to set LOG_CHECKPOINTS_TO_ALERT to TRUE . I understand that it will write checkpint entries in alert log. Do DBA's generally set this to TRUE ( defalut ) or change it FALSE?.
    Thank You

    FALSE,
    The document you refer clearly states this warning: "This document is being delivered to you via Oracle Support's Rapid Visibility (RaV) Rapid Visibility (RaV) process, and therefore has not been subject to an independent technical review." In this case it happens to be a false statement, as you can see from the practical prove I post here.
    "If the theoretical scenario doesn't match the practical scenario, discard the theory"
    The above referred page manual states the parameter defaults to FALSE, and a practical review of version 10.2.0, 10.1.0, and 9.2.0 shows the parameter has always defaulted to FALSE. I have already sent a recommendation to Metalink for this statement to be reviewed.

  • Can I have a boolean value always be false unless I tell it otherwise?

    is there a boolean value that will always be a false unless the user inputs a true response?

    Why an indicator?
    He needs a value that is false until the user decides it's to go true...that's a button control.
    The button is false until someone clicks on it. If you want it to stay true after that, right-click on the button and set the mechanical action to switch, if it's to return to false after being read set the mechanical action to latch.

    Steve,
    I'm facing the same issue as user#####.
    Your workaround does not work ; when I deploy manuelly the ear file, with a new weblogic-application.xml, I get the same error.
    Does that happen a lot ? :p

  • Child CPs are always in PENDING STATE.

    Procedure parent_cp (errbuf out nocopy varchar2, retcode out nocopy varchar2) IS
    ret number;
    i number;
    BEGIN
    fnd_msg_pub.initialize;
    BEGIN ---Block A
    req_data := fnd_conc_global.request_data;
    if (req_data is not null) then
    i := to_number(req_data);
    if (i < 5 ) then
    errbuf := 'Done!';
    retcode := 0 ;
    return;
    end if;
    else
    i := 1;
    end if;
    for j in 1 .. 4 loop
    vRequestId(j) := fnd_request.submit_request('CZ', 'Child','Delete Localized Text - Child Number : ' ||TO_CHAR(vChildNo), NULL,TRUE, vChildMdlRange);
    fnd_conc_global.set_req_globals(conc_status => 'PAUSED', request_data => to_char(vChildNo)) ;
    IF (vRequestId(j) = 0 ) THEN
    errbuf := fnd_Message.get;
    retcode := 2;
    ELSE
    errbuf := 'Sub-Request submitted!';
    retcode := 0 ;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    BEGIN ---block B
    For j in vRequestId.FIRST..vRequestId.LAST LOOP
    fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.log,' reuest' || vRequestId(j));
    vrequeststatus := fnd_concurrent.get_request_status(vRequestId(j),
    NULL,
    NULL,
    phase,
    status,
    dev_phase ,
    dev_status ,
    message );
    WHILE (dev_phase != 'COMPLETE') LOOP
    fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.log,' while loop' || vRequestId(j));
    vrequeststatus := fnd_concurrent.wait_for_request(vRequestId(j),
    60,
    10,
    phase ,

    message );
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP;
    dbms_output.put_line(' Block after submitting Child CP ');
    END;
    END parent_cp;
    The above procedure was the Parent CP. Here the problem is in fnd_request.submit_request('CZ', 'Child','Delete Localized Text - Child Number : ' ||TO_CHAR(vChildNo), NULL,TRUE, vChildMdlRange); i have given sub_request as True and used fnd_conc_global.set_req_globals(conc_status => 'PAUSED', request_data => to_char(vChildNo)) ; to make parent CP to pause it.
    It submits 4 child CPs as expected but the phase as INACTIVE and status NO MANAGER and PARENT CP was always in running state.
    If i make sub_request parameter of fnd_request.sub_request to FALSE . It submits 4 child CPs as expected with the phase as PENDING and status NORMAL and PARENT CP was always in running state. But child cps are never changing the Phase to RUNNING. It is always in PENDING STATE.
    Please suggest how to use fnd_conc_global.set_req_globals and fnd_concurrent.wait_for_request together.

    Pl do not post duplicates - Parent Concurrent Program executes  rest of the logic  before PAUSED STATE.

  • Problem evaluating boolean in XSLT

    Hi,
    I am running into a wierd problem. I have a small BPEL process with input schema as shown below.
    <element name="testIssuesProcessRequest">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="boolValue" type="boolean"/>
    <element name="dateValue" type="date"/>
    <element name="timeValue" type="time"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    In my BPEL process I have a switch statement which checks the value of boolValue and takes the appropriate path. The problem is this variable is always evaluating to true(I tried using true, false, 0, 1). The function I am using is
    bpws:getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:testIssuesProcessRequest/client:boolValue')
    I tried the similar approach in XSLT and it is the problem
    /ns1:testIssuesProcessRequest/ns1:boolValue = true()
    I am not sure what I am missing. Is there a different way to treat boolean values
    in xslt? Any pointers will be of great help.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Use < instead of < symbol, if your javascript doesnt need to be generated from some template from some XML value you also could insert it into a CDATA section.
    I hope it can help you.

  • Positional vs. named parameter passing

    Is named parameter passing always better than positional when calling a PL/SQL stored procedure? What are the benefits and pitfalls of each method. Are there instances where you prefer one over the other?

    Hi Roger,
    I personally prefer named notation due to its much enhanced clarity. It greatly helps a subsequent developer by not forcing him/her to look up the spec of the procedure or function each time they see it referenced in the code which calls it (I have a terrible short-term memory - so this is particularly frustrating to me).
    Additionally, if some whacko comes by and changes the order (but not the names) of the parameters to the referenced procedure or function - named notation protects you from having to change your code - with positional notation - you MUST change your code.
    Of course, named notation is not supported in normal SQL which calls a function, only positional is. But for PL/SQL I say use named notation all the way.
    I've never tested a comparison of performance, but I would take an educated guess that it is roughly equivalent (within a few microseconds) between the approaches.
    One example I think will show you the benefits of named over positional is a call to DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS. This packaged procedure is used all of the time, but it has a large number of arguments. Changing a call to it can be challenging with positional notation if you don't remember the parameter order.
    Here's the named notation call:
    BEGIN
       DBMS_STATS.gather_table_stats (ownname               => 'SCOTT'
                                    , tabname               => 'EMP'
                                    , partname              => NULL
                                    , estimate_percent      => DBMS_STATS.auto_sample_size
                                    , block_sample          => FALSE
                                    , method_opt            => 'FOR ALL INDEXED COLUMNS SIZE 254'
                                    , DEGREE                => NULL
                                    , granularity           => 'ALL'
                                    , CASCADE               => TRUE
                                    , no_invalidate         => FALSE
    END;
    /Here's the positional notation call:
    BEGIN
       DBMS_STATS.gather_table_stats ('SCOTT'
                                    , 'EMP'
                                    , NULL
                                    , DBMS_STATS.auto_sample_size
                                    , FALSE
                                    , 'FOR ALL INDEXED COLUMNS SIZE 254'
                                    , NULL
                                    , 'ALL'
                                    , TRUE
                                    , FALSE
    END;
    /I strongly prefer to support code with the first example over the 2nd.
    Hope this helps...

  • Parameter default value issue

    Hi, I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 database & SSDT (Visual Studio 2012) to develop reports. I am trying to modify an existing report after the upgrade and something seems not right especially with report parameter default values. I am using the expression
    below and for the default value its always returning the false part. When I put this expression in a textbox to test results it works as expected. Thanks in advance.
    =IIf(Parameters!Area.Value = "Test Area", "1", "2")
    Ione

    Hi Lone,
    Per my understanding you are experiencing the issue that the report parameter’s default values not work, the default values for this parameter is using the expression based on another parameter, but now it not always display the correct value, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by you have not specified available values for this parameter base on their parent parameter(Area), so the parameters will not refresh when the value of the first
    parameter has changed. In Reporting Services, if we want to create cascading parameters, we should specify both available values and defaults values for child parameters.
    Please specify the Available values as below, using both the expression in the Label and Value:
    =IIf(Parameters!Area.Value = "Test Area", "1", "2")
    You also use an alternative method to create this parameter without using the expression:
    Create an Dataset using below query to get the Parameter(“1”,”2”):
    select distinct (CASE WHEN (@Area) =' Test Area' THEN '1' ELSE '2' END) AS  FieldName  from TableName.
    In  the Second Param(Param2) In both the “Available Values” and “Default Values” select the “Get values from a query”.
    For more information about how to create cascading parameters, please see MSDN document which tell us how to do it steps by steps.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337498(v=sql.105).aspx.
    If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask.

  • Report does not prompt for parameters when SeparatePages=False

    Hi all. We are using CR2008 Basic w/SP1 along with VS2008. Within our application, reports pull up fine and prompt for parameters using the CrystalReportViewer against the web service. SeparatePages is set to True. We want to change SeparatePages to False, but when I do that any report that should prompt for parameters is not.
    The reports were created in CR 8.5. We have upgraded them to CR2008 (open, refresh, save) which has greatly increased performance. With some further testing, I've discovered that if I take a report that doesn't currently have any parameters and add one via VS2008 report designer, it WILL prompt for the parameter when I run it in our application with SeparatePages=False.
    So I'm leaning that the problem has to do with the reports originally being created in 8.5. I've tried modifying an existing report with parameters, deleting parameters and re-adding, but I still can't get these to prompt for parameters with SeparatePages=False.
    Again, these same reports prompt for parms and work fine as long as SeparatePages=True.  I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. There are over 400 reports so re-creating them from scratch under CR2008 will be a painful option
    If I need to provide any additional information just let me know. Thank you!
    Sheila

    We are still working to resolve this issue. Testing has shown that for reports that don't return a lot of data, the prompt for parameters will display. But for larger reports, we just see the hour glass and the parameter prompt never displays. It's almost like the reports are trying to return the full dataset without any paramters being passed BEFORE it will prompt for parameters. This would explain why smaller reports will prompt and larger reports never will (?). Not sure that is what is happening.  Again, with SeparatePages=True we are immediately given the parameter prompt. With SeparatePages=False we run into the issue of no prompts.
    Here's the code behind if it help:
    ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
    try
        String rptFileName = @"App_Data\Reports\" + Request.QueryString.GetValues(0).GetValue(0).ToString();
        log.writeLog("Loading Report: " + rptFileName);
        String rptFile = Server.MapPath(rptFileName);
        report.Load(rptFile);
        report.Refresh();

        crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("UserID : " + rProperties.ODBCUser);
        crConnectionInfo.UserID = rProperties.ODBCUser;
        log.writeDebugLog("Password : " + rProperties.ODBCPassword);
        crConnectionInfo.Password = rProperties.ODBCPassword;
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in report.Database.Tables)
            TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
            crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
    catch (Exception err)
        log.writeLog("Error Loading Report: " + err.ToString());
        this.lblError.Text = err.ToString();
        this.ErrorTable.Visible = true;
        this.ReportTable.Visible = false;
        return;
    CrystalReportViewer1.HasCrystalLogo = false;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report; // _serverFileReport;
