Simple plot/graph question

I inherited the attached multi plot - originator is not here anymore. It's Monday and my brain is not functioning yet. Can someone tell me how to reduce the number of plots to 4 from the existing 9. I have done it before but, like I said, it's Monday. Thanks.

OK - new issue with the strip chart. I'm getting multiple lines at the right hand edge of the chart. These lines tend to follow the main plot and, strangely, seem to increase in number if if I move the mouse (more appear the faster I move the mouse). I have attached a screen shot to illustrate. Is this a feature I need to turn off or something else?

  • Scatter plot graphs, more than 2 series possible?

It's been very difficult for me to put 3 or 4 series of data in scatter graphs and connect the dots with lines as in Excel, it just doesn't allow me. I made a graph before using line graph model but it turns out that in the x axis (which in this case is time in weeks) I need to show the distance proportionally (i.e. 0,2,6,12 and 16 weeks) and I can't find how to do it with a simple line graph. Tried in excel and is easy using the scatter plot graph (very simple, using exactly the same data arrangement). But numbers does not accept the series of data (it only accepts X,Y per series) and in second place there is not lines connecting the dots. Any of you guys have a suggestion?. I'd really prefer to use numbers bit do not why is so difficult to scatter graph the data. Thanks

The default for X-Y pairs can actually be pretty handy, though often it is not. You can easily turn it into one X and a bunch of Y's. Connecting lines are also available.
My assumption from your post is you have a column of X values and several columns of Y values.
    1) All data for a scatter plot must be in "normal" data cells, none in header cells.
    2) Select all the X & Y data and create a scatter chart.
    3) There is a "gear" at the top left of the colored box in the table that indicates the data in the chart. Click it and choose to share X values. Now you should have one column labeled "X" and several labeled "Y" and your chart will show each Y as a separate series.
    4) With the chart selected (the whole chart, not one of the series), go to the Chart tab of the inspector, go to the series tab, look for the words "connect points" and choose what kind of line you want to connect the points. Alternatively or additionally, you could make trendline curves by clicking on "advanced". Also, you can do them one at a time and choose different settings for each series by selecting each series separately.
If you have gaps in your Y data, it will not connect the points on either side of the gap, you will have a missing line segment.
If your X data is unsorted, some connecting lines may go right-to-left, not left-to-right.

  • Simple line graph problem

    Hi there,
I want to create a very simple line graph, containing 1 line. Therefore i create a Graph.LINE_VERT_ABS type Graph and add the data using myGraph.setLocalRelationalData(al ArrayList). This arraylist contains values in the form of
    setname jan 12.2
    setname feb 14.5
    setname march 8.1
    etc
When i do this, I get the errormessage: "The data has an insufficient number of columns. This graph type requires at least 2 columns of data. The data provided has one column.".
When i add another dummy value to the arraylist:
    dummy dummya 1
    dummy dummyb 2
the graph displays correctly, but only with a additional line for the dummy values, also in the Legend.
What am i doing wrong. Surely it is possible to display just one line in the Graph??
    Any help is appreciated.
    Linda

In the arraylist, setname identifies a column. By default, columns are plotted as groups, or different points along the horizontal axis. In order to have a line or area graph, you need two groups. The data that you are passing has 1 group and 3 series. You should pass it as follows:
    jan setname 12.2
    feb setname 14.5
    march setname 8.1
    etc.
Passing data like this will give you three groups (jan, feb, march) and one series (setname).
By the way, what version of BI Beans are you using and how did find out about setLocalRelationalData? That API was never publicly released. It was replaced by setTabularData (same method renamed) and exposed in 9.0.3.

  • Simple Bar Graph

What I'm trying to do is make a simple bar graph, with multiple bars of different colors and do this using an array. I create a new bar, set its size and color, and then create another bar, set its size, color and i've also moved it over 10 pixels so its not ontop of the original bar. And I'm using an array for the ractangle shap, and fillrect to fill it.
My problem comes when I add the object to the pane ( frame.getContentPane().add(blue); )
It only adds the last one, it doesn't add the blue bar. does getContentPane repaint the screen or something, so that the previous one doesn't show? Or am I missing something?
    Thanks for any input,

  • How can I call the jFreeChart to plot graph and get the result in Servlet?

I want to use jFreeChart to plot time series graph, and then output the result in Servlet. How can I call the jFreeChart to plot graph and get back the result? Any source code for example? Thanks a lot!!

    Dave,
ServletDemo1 and others were not in the distribution that I got (jfreechart-0.9.4). I found them under the premium demos somewhere in com/refinery/chart/demo/premium, but could not compile. They're complaining, among other things, about missing classes/packages com.refinery.date.SerialDate and com.refinery.ui. Am I using a wrong version of jfreechart?
    Thanks,
    -Alla
There is a very simple servlet demo in the JFreeChart
    distribution:
    src/com/jrefinery/chart/demo/ServletDemo1.java
This simply sends back an image to the browser.
A second demo, which embeds the chart in an HTML page
    is:
    src/com/jrefinery/chart/demo/ServletDemo2.java
    src/com/jrefinery/chart/demo/ServletDemo2ChartGenerator
    java
...includes a time series chart as one of three
    options.

    Hi,
I'm using Visual Studio 2010, what I want to do is written in the title.
so far i was able read and plot graph on a Form but i unable to use the same method on Crystal Reporting.
The method plotting in Crystal Reporting is complicated and it require a fix data set or database which is not suitable for my case because every time the number of column and row or data will be different. (this is what i think base on what i found)
is there a way for me to display the output on a ms words?
    and what is the method.
    thanks.

    Hi Huangcongmazhananzi,
Based on your description, I’m afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue, since this forum is to discuss the VS IDE.

  • Scatter plots / graphs

We have not yet tried Flex, but we are interested using it
for its charting capabilities. Does it have built-in charting
components that allow scatter plots? If not, can anyone recommend
third party products that produce scatter plots from dynamic
    data?

Let's say JFreeChart is the simplest approach to do so, even though it actually might need a bit of documentation. My guess would be that you didn't include the jcommons library in your classpath, JFreeChart depends on it.
    http://www.jfree.org/jcommon
You can always use Java's native drawing operations for simple plots, too, but i just would not recommend it. It might, however, be a good idea to just use the NumberAxis classes (located in JFreeChart lib) and design your own plot if you're not willing to invest too much time in this stuff. Those classes are fairly easy to use (although also poorly documented!).

  • Simple X-fi Question, Please Help

!Simple X-fi Question, Please HelpL I've been looking for an external sound card that is similar to the 2002 Creative Extigy and think I may found it in the Creative X-Fi. I have some questions about the X-fi though. Can the X-fi:
    1. Input sound from an optical port
    2. Output that sound to 5. surround- Front, surround, center/sub
    3. Is the X-Fi stand-alone, external, and powered by a USB or a wall outlet (you do not need a computer hooked up to it)
Basically I want to connect a TosLink optical cable from my Xbox to the X-Fi. That will deli'ver the sound to the X-Fi. Then I want that sound to go to a 5. headset that is connected to the X-fi via 5. front, surround, and center/sub wires. The X-Fi has to be stand-alone and cannot be connected to a PC to do this.
    Thank you for your help.

The connector must match, and the connector polarity (plus and minus voltage) must match.  Sorry, I don't know if the positive voltage goes on the inside of the connector or the outside.    Any wattage of 12 or more should be adequate.

    Hello,
I've done somthing like that in one application and the example it's on the attached pic.
    basically it's:
1 - create graph reference (right click and choose create reference)
2 - pick a method called "get image"
3 - save the image to file.

  • Simple Crop tool question... how do I save the crop section?

    Hi,
I have a very simple crop tool question. I'm a photoshop girl usually... so Illustrator is new to me. When I select the crop section I want... how do I save it?... if I select another tool in the tool panel, the crop section disappears and I can't get it back when I re-select Crop tool. If I select Save as... it saves the whole document...and not just my crop section.
Like I said, simple question...but I just don't know the secret to the Illustrator crop tool.
    Thanks!

  • A Simpler, More Direct Question About Merge Joins

This thread is related to Merge Joins Should Be Faster and Merge Join but asks a simpler, more direct question:
Why does merge sort join choose to sort data that is already sorted? Here are some Explain query plans to illustrate my point.
    SQL> EXPLAIN PLAN FOR
      2  SELECT * FROM spoTriples ORDER BY s;
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |              |   998K|    35M|  5311   (1)| 00:01:04|
    |   1 |  INDEX FULL SCAN | PKSPOTRIPLES |   998K|    35M|  5311   (1)| 00:01:04|
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Notice that the plan does not involve a SORT operation. This is because spoTriples is an Index-Organized Table on the primary key index of (s,p,o), which contains all of the columns in the table. This means the table is already sorted on s, which is the column in the ORDER BY clause. The optimizer is taking advantage of the fact that the table is already sorted, which it should.
    Now look at this plan:
    SQL> EXPLAIN PLAN FOR
      2  SELECT /*+ USE_MERGE(t1 t2) */ t1.s, t2.s
      3  FROM spoTriples t1, spoTriples t2
      4  WHERE t1.s = t2.s;
    Explained.
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT       |              |    11M|   297M|       | 13019 (6)| 00:02:37 |
    |   1 |  MERGE JOIN            |              |    11M|   297M|       | 13019 (6)| 00:02:37 |
    |   2 |   SORT JOIN            |              |   998K|    12M|    38M|  6389 (4)| 00:01:17 |
    |   3 |    INDEX FAST FULL SCAN| PKSPOTRIPLES |   998K|    12M|       |  1460 (3)| 00:00:18 |
    |*  4 |   SORT JOIN            |              |   998K|    12M|    38M|  6389 (4)| 00:01:17 |
    |   5 |    INDEX FAST FULL SCAN| PKSPOTRIPLES |   998K|    12M|       |  1460 (3)| 00:00:18 |
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
       4 - access("T1"."S"="T2"."S")
filter("T1"."S"="T2"."S")I'm doing a self join on the column by which the table is sorted. I'm using a hint to force a merge join, but despite the data already being sorted, the optimizer insists on sorting each instance of spoTriples before doing the merge join. The sort should be unnecessary for the same reason that it is unnecessary in the case with the ORDER BY above.
Is there anyway to make Oracle be aware of and take advantage of the fact that it doesn't have to sort this data before merge joining it?

Licensing questions are best addressed by visiting the Oracle store, or contacting a salesrep in your area
But I doubt you can redistribute the product if you aren't licensed yourself.
Question 3 and 4 have obvious answers
3: Even if you could this is illegal
4: if tnsping is not included in the client, tnsping is not included in the client, and there will be no replacement.
Tnsping only establishes whether a listener is running and shouldn't be called from an application
