Since Firefox update (34.0) the functionality of InstantFox 2.8.9 has been curtailed. Help?

Look I know I will most likely need to also contact InstantFox 2.8.9's support pages but to my mind it makes more sense to ask for help here! Also I know my browser is probably a bit too 'top heavy' with my choices of extensions for the smooth working of my current 'ancient' laptop... But they suit me as is and, for the moment, I can I live with the eccentricities most likely caused by this present configuration...!
Since this update wherein the Search functions of Firefox have been tweaked InstantFox 2.8.9 has lost parts of its functions:-
1) The toolbar button which opens the dropdown box containing my preferred list of search engines has disappeared from the toolbar and the about:customizing Firefox page. It is a real hassle to have to access it via the Add-ons Manager since I cannot always remember all of my shortcuts for quicksearches.
2) Also the quick access to the above has been removed from the Tools menu.
3) The list of search engines has disappeared from the context menu which was very useful for a quick specific search from any highlighted text.
4) Firefox's own Search Manager does not contain this list but they do seem to be seeping in. But... for instance I do not need Amazon.com; I need Amazon.co.uk
As far as I can ascertain my shortcuts for quicksearches are all still functioning. By the way the functionality of InstantFox 2.8.9, when unencumbered by contradicting tweaks, is definitely much more to my liking!
Maybe your developers could liaise with InstantFox 2.8.9's developers... to tweak search operations to perfection! Sorry guys but am not savvy enough to be a developer or whatever [I surf (et al) holding on for dear life by 'the seat of my pants'!] so am unsure if I am making sense! Therefore also unsure if my assumptions are correct. Please politely inform what is really happening here. Have been rather reticent to contact you since, once before, was very rudely reprimanded when I tried to ask a question on another Mozilla forum...
So is it possible to get InstantFox 2.8.9 working at optimum again or can I suppress Firefox's new Search capabilities so that it will work unhindered...?

Many thanks for the heads up re the lack of a grace period for add-on developers this time around. Recent Firefox updates have all seemed to eradicate more and more of the eccentricities that my browser configuration experiences... So this update was a surprise which caused me much...
Forgive my tardiness in replying but even though your suggestion was most informative and useful it did not rectify the problem. So, as you suggested, have waited till today when InstantFox sent out their update. Thankfully now all is working as 'on the box'!
Just one question:... I assume that I should leave Firefox's own search interface 'suppressed'? Don't want to go messing with about:config unless I have to!

First, reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root.
First, back up all data if you haven't already done so. No matter what happens, you should be able to restore your system to the state it was in at the time of that backup.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.

Verify that username and password are correct." Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

Why won't my "searchpreview" add-on work from my browser search box since Firefox updated to 3.6.16, but it works when I do it from the Google main page??

Since Firefox updated itself to 3.6.16 earlier today, when I search for anything in my Google search box on the browser, it always used to show me thumbnails when the Google page came up. Now there are no thumbnails appearing, except if I go on the Google main page and search from there, the thumbnails still appear. Whe it updated, the browser automatically searched for incompatability problems with my add-ons but nothing appeared to say Searchpreview was incompatible.

You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

Working here just fine. Try reinstalling:

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it. Hold down the 'ctrl' key and scroll backwards on the mouse.
Then go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing. Turn off the Zoom feature.
Similarly in Sys Pref > Mouse uncheck the box for 'Zoom using scroll wheel…'
If it still occurs after that there may be a corrupt .plist file.

I use BlueHost webhosting that has a primary domain and I have several domains with that account (as sub-domains or folders on this server) - with past versions of Muse when uploading pages it simply opened an alert window to tell me (what I already know) that the website I was uploading does not point to the primary domain BUT NOW Muse tries to create a new separate folder in the root directory of the primary domain - completely ignoring the directory path I am giving it - useless! Why make these senseless changes to the program - and so often - very frustrating it is like amateur ware!.

There are some issues with the upload to ftp via Muse, which the engineering team is aware of and those will be fixed in a future build of Muse. At this point the work around would be to export the html from Muse and then upload via some third party ftp client like filezilla.
