Since Newest Update Constant "Not Responding"

I have never had an issue with Skype not responding and I have been using Skype for many years. Ever since this new update to 7.0.0.102, EVERY time I have to go to something other than the one person I have active on the screen or Skype isn't the active program, I get "not responding". I cannot answer calls, I miss calls, I cannot answer people for approximately 30 seconds while Skype is 'catching up' with itself. It doesn't matter what I am doing, it does it with everything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does it. I'm not sure what else I can do to attempt to change this, but it is getting aggravating since I use it every day.
I would also like to make a note.... why did you have to change the layout? Everything has been great for so long and now you've changed it all and it really is horrible. The message box on the side makes everything hard to read cause it's all long and skinny now instead of the length of the box. I really do not understand the changes that you have made and it seems to have really just messed up my computer more than helped anything. My boyfriend has all of the same complaints that I do. I don't normally say anything like this, cause normally people don't listen. I truly hope you do and fix these issues, becuase this is almost impossible to work with.

I cannot believe such issues are allowed to persist in any version of Skype.
It seems the hang is somewhat corellated with the use of the space bar. When I omit spaces and just keep typing, I seem to get it to work better. Insane what I am resorting to such efforts now.
Skype, step it up! And fess up  why this is happening to people. To be able to type in a box is the very most prime function of a computer. To not get access to that is beyond any sense of utility.

  • How to fix my firefox' s constant "not responding" issues?

Here's the deal. About last week, My firefox browser encountered some problems. Everytime I opened it, loading time was really long and when I opened a new tab either to open google search or to open another website, it didn't respond at all for about 30 secs or more. That was why I reinstalled firefox to see if it, hopefully, could be different somehow. Unfortunately, the problems now are not so different from what I have described, only now it's got a bit worse with the constant "not responding" and "freezing" in every tab I open - more or less than 30s PER TAB. I thought there was something wrong with my hardware or some features on my laptop, yet my google chrome still works. How does it still work? NO IDEA! But whenever my firefox freezes when I click on some links or a new tab, I turn over to GC and it still works really well so far. But I would prefer firefox to GC as my default browser since I'm more used to using it and a few features on it work better on the latter. So I would be really grateful if these issues are dealt with as soon and effectively possible. Thanks a lot :)

The "not responding" problem just started today. I removed and re-installed firefox. I disabled ALL the add-ins and the problem remains. I've been using Firefox for years probably starting with version 2. I guess this is the end of the line for me. Chrome is more popular so that's where I'm going. Bye...
Unfortunately I'm going to miss some of the great add-ins and the so easy to use bookmark system but I need a browser that works All the time. Bye, Bye..

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

  • I have a Windows Vista desktop and an old XP laptop, both run Firefox perfectly. However, my Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop will not run ANY version of Firefox--constant "not responding" messages. Chrome and IE9 work perfectly. Help!!

To mostly repeat my question, I am a longtime Firefox user on both an XP laptop and a Vista desktop. So here I get the most "capable" computer of all, a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop, 64-bit Windows 7, 4G RAM...and it won't run Firefox at all! I have installed an uninstalled both Firefox 3, and just now, Firefox 4. No changes. When I open the software, it usually just locks up for a minute or so, and I finally get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen.
Obviously there is something corrupt in the guts of my laptop. But both IE9 and Chrome work very well--Chrome is blazing fast. I still prefer Firefox because it works best with some particular software I use for work...but I have to go to one of my older computers to do it!
ANY solutions out there? This seems like a very odd problem.
Posting from the Firefox website...using Google Chrome!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Cant Open/Install since newest update

    Hello,
This is my first post here because i have never had issues with itunes/ipod before. here is my issue-
Ever since the most recent update, when i would click my icon for itunes on my desktop it would say.
"this action is only valid for products that are currently installed" even though i just watched the installation finish. so i just would then try to install itunes again, so i redownloaded the installation file from apple.com, the file openes fine, starts installing, but during the installation, pretty sure its in the part where it says it is removing the old version of itunes, it says "the feature u are trying to use is on a network resoruce that is unavailable, click OK, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package itunes.msi" ive searched for this file and i do not have it on my computer, this just started with the newest update, i cant open itunes at all now, so i ask for some help here, thank you!

  • Constant "not responding" and screen whites out

Ever since I've been using Firefox 3.5 or so (currently Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 Firefox/3.6.17) I have constant messages in the window bar (Not Responding) and the open page whites-over and Firefox quits responding. it's happened 4 times while I've typed this far. It makes the browser completely unusable. What is causing this? There's also a little grey box up by the search-bar that has "2c" in it I never noticed before where logos for various browsers I've used in the past usually have a logo.

It still happens when I turn off all extensions and in safe mode. I have 3 gigs of ram, Win 7 and if Firefox is open the thing constantly does this white-out, not responding thing. Same browser on my eMachines desktop and Toshiba Satellite laptop with XP is just been fine. Upgraded it to FF 4 on less used eMachines Saturday, though I don't really like the look and feel yet. Don't know if this is a Win7 problem or Firefox. Another weird thing is that bookmarks imported from Toshiba now won't let me save new bookmarks. Usually truncates the folder I put new bookmark in. If the browser crashes on the Win7 machine, recent bookmarks just disappear. Sometimes even when I do a controlled shutdown, they still disappear. Is the install corrupted possibly? And is there a way to wipe and reinstall it?

  • "Update server not responding" when trying to update Acrobat 9 Pro

I just installed Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop computer and on my laptop. I was able to download and install the latest updates to the copy on my desktop computer (so that it is now version 9.3.0), using Help>Check for Updates.
When I try the same command on my laptop, I get and error message that states "The update server is not responding, which means it may be offline at the moment, or the Internet or firlewall settings may be incorrect. Please try again later." I tried several times yesterday and today with the same error. The message pops up immediatley; it doesn't even seem to actually try to connect.
I disabled my firewall and antivirus software and still get the same result. I uninstalled then reinstalled Acrobat and still get the same result.
I looked online at Adobe.com to see about downloading and installing the updates manually, but it's difficult for me to tell which updates I need. Some are for other languages and some are for 64-bit but I have Windows 7 32-bit.
A call to tech support was no help. The agent seemed to think because I installed verison 9.0 that I only needed the one English update listed on the download page under 9.0, and not any of the later updates. . . And he said that Adobe recommends manually installing updates from Adobe.com rather than using the Check for Updates command (?!).
Anyway, does anyone know what might be causing this problem with the adobe updater? Maybe I need to reinstall the updater (where do I find it?).
    OR
Can someone tell me which of the updates listed on the Acrobat dowload page I should manually install to bring my product up to date?
[Running Windows 7 32-bit on both machines]
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Which version of Acrobat do you have ?
(Launch Acrobat and Go to Acrobat->About Adobe Acrobat menu item and check the version )
Also, can you ping following urls ?
    armmf.adobe.com
    armdl.adobe.com
    ardownload.adobe.com
    Are these urls reachable ?
Also, you can check the contents of host file /etc/defaults/host to see that none of the ips are redirected.
One more thing that you could try:
If you have firewall on, could you please disable the firewall and then try the update. Does it works now ?

  • Adobe application manager update server not responding

I have installed the Creative Suite 6 Master Collection from CDs,
and activated the license. Now when I run Photoshop > Help >
Updates, the Adobe Application Manager runs, but gives the error
message "The update server is not responding. The server might be
offline temporarily, or the Internet or firewal settings may be
    incorrect".
Acrobat and Lightroom both updated no problem. I waited a day, but
    the problem persists. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Bruce

I found the answer in another post (https://forums.adobe.com/message/4484225#4484225):
Go to creative.adobe.com, and download PhotoShop CC
This downloads, installs, and runs Creative Cloud
As soon as it comes up running, cancel the download of PS CC
All of the CS 6 apps are ready to update
    Thanks, Bruce

  • Update server not responding photosmart 410 all-in-one

    Hi all,
I'm new to blogging and not too computer savvy so patience please. This problem looks like it's been posted before but I'm not sure how to apply it to me.  I have a 410a printer connected to a minimac running OSx 10.10 (yosemite?). I am trying to update software to prevent duplicates printing after turning off the computer. When I go through the procedure to run update the printer screen says it had a problem connecting to the server.
I tried the printer IP address in Safari and Firefox but both say server is not responding. Is the server down, or is a problem with my setup?
    Help - and thanks
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello HevnLgh,
Thank you for your input. I tried to follow your instructions but had trouble right from the start. I got to HP uninstaller and clicked continue but there was no printer listed. It just said "device" and uninstall was greyed out. I decided to just continue so I reset the printing system and repaired the  disk permissions.
It took me a couple of tries to reinstall the printer from the Apple website because at first it couldn't find the device to add so I tried using the IP address on the next tab and that seemed to do something but it still wouldn't print. The printer was found after I  went back and tried again and everything seemed to work this time (whew).
I tried the update procedure on the printer itself and it still can't connect with the server, but the original problem with the duplicate copy on shut down seems to have resolved itself.
The bottom line is my printer is working like it's supposed to (for now anyway)  and I didn't get two copies of my printout so thank you again for your help.  It's good to know I can go somewhere for help when I have a problem.

  • My iPad 3 jumps between screens/apps on it's own since newest update-HELP!

I recently updated my iPad 3 to the 8.1.2, and now, after about a half hour of being on, it jumps to various apps/screens by itself. I backed it up to my computer,  "refreshed back to factory settings" and restored from back-up. No luck.  Can anyone help???

Did see a macworld blurb that IOS8 speeded up some of the touch screen activity - so that it was possible to delete mail even if you didn't really want to.
That may be causing your problem - update would not cause a hardware problem - but and update can cause the hardware to respond differently.

  • Sine the most recent update, firefox "not responding" is happening all the time. What is going on ... please help!!!

Firefox had been "not responding" for the last few months. After a short time, it would respond.
Lately, however, it is "not responding" and my entire computer needs to be restarted.
Please help -- I am extremely frustrated.

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:
    * [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]
Check and tell if its working.
May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated
    * Update All your Firefox Plugins -> [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/]

  • Problems with update sever not responding

    Hi,
I've had my mac pro for a few weeks now but when I went to update the software a window just pops up stating "the software update server (10.0.0.86) is not responding". My internet connection (via wireless) is working completely fine I can access the net using safari + Firefox
I have manually updated to OS X 10.6.2 but that still didn't fix the problem?
any help would be great! thanks,
    Zane.

    Hi,
After self attempts of trying to work the problem out I just rang apple support and had the most helpful guy guide me through fixing it (after a few attempts)
    Here's how it was fixed:
    -Open finder
-under Macintosh HD, open the library folder then scroll down through the list till you find preferences
-Once inside the preferences folder you need to find a file named: com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Drag that file to your desktop then try to run software update. If it works then just drag the file (com.apple.softwareupdate.plist) from your desktop into the bin (delete it)
Thanks to the WONDERFUL help from the guy at Apple support (Australia) this solution got mine up and running. Thought I would put the instructions up here if anyone else runs into the same problem
