Single quote used with in text data renders to inalid display

I have the following text snipit that is coming from an Oracle database column: ...did not include 'special decontamination'. New ...
I am putting this into a pretty standard text object. When the report is previewed and subsequently printed as a PDF each single quote is transformed to the text string &_#_3_9_; code (without the underscores). This also occurs for quotation marks appearing as &_q_u_o_t_; and ampersands appearing as &_;_a_m_p_;
I've tried changing the text interpretation property from none to rtf and, with a refresh, nothing changed. It is hard for me to believe that no one else has seen this but since you can not search the forum for this string (as it converts it to the single quote) may not one has asked.

The CLOB would do it.
Not sure there is a way around this aside from how you've already been dealing with it.
To simply your formula a bit, you don't need to do a loop just have it check for each of the tags like:
stringVar TempText := {PPR_Main.CONCERNS};
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_#_3_9_;', "'") ;
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_;_a_m_p_', "&") ;
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_q_u_o_t_;', '"') ;
TempText
I agree though that there may be other tags added later on based on other characters so it could be infinite. Try the common characters like Exclamation and Question marks.

Can we have a Single quote in the tooltip text?

Hi,
We have some tooltips for the presentation columns which contains a single quote.
When I try to view the tooltip from answers the single quote is being replaced by double quotes.
I tried to use all sorts of escape characters for single quote, like "\'" and ''' and "'" but that didn't work.
Is there any way to do this.

As I said in my earlier post, I am looking for the tooltips for the Presentation tables and columns. The tooltips for these were extracted from the RPD using the externalize Strings option and these externalized strings are stored in the database.
So I am escaping the single using a single quote both in rpd and in the database.
Example text I have used both in the rpd and database is something like "Shipment's start time". I tried with "Shipment''s start time", " Shipment'''s start time", but it didn't work.

Single quotes problem with execute immediate

[i]Situation:
I am trying to create a procedure to perform a set of operations. As part of that, I am trying to create a table using execute immediate statement. This create table statement has a select sub query where p_LOB3 is the variable for the procedure of datatype varchar2.
Problem :
I need to pass the variable p_LOB3 as single quoted as it is of type Varchar2. Also I need to enclose the entire create table query within single quotes. How do I specify this as it is throwing an error when the PL/SQL engine is parsing the single quotes in the query used twice for different purposes as mention earlier.
Query:
execute immediate'create table test5 as select min(contract_number)as contract_number,contact_id,max(line_of_business) as line_of_business from mytable group by contact_id having min(contract_number) = max(contract_number) and max(Line_of_business) = 'p_LOB3' ';

Is just worked fine.
New issue is: I am not able to put 2 such statements in a single procedure and execute. Before I give parameters to the procedure, PL/SQL engine is actually creating a view of the mytable and naming is as test5, as a result I am not able to create a table as there is a view with the same name.
Right now, the workaround I am using is to create three different procedures to create three such tables. I know this is not a good idea....can you please tell me if there is a better way.

Based on base tables you can not say that you need master data or not. If you load master data it improves the performance of the dataloading as system finds SID's in master data quickly. If you do not load master data while loading transactional data anyway it will create entries in the master data table automatically slowing the transactional data load. In your case,
VGABE (Transaction/event type, purchase order history.)
Suppose values are as AS, EW,XY. In report while selecting the transaction type ( via variable) in F4 help if user sees only AS,EW they will not understand what the type exactly mean. If you load Tet master data for VGABE( zinfoobject) you will be able to see text along with the value.
In addition if user wants to see key figure values distributed in the hierarchy as e.g for 0material,
material            Qty.
Childrenwear     30
   womenwear    40
in such case you need to build hierarchy.

Single Quote problem with javascript

ADO's Use with XML for Data Transfer

Does anyone know if ADO is supported as a data transfer method
between XML and Oracle8i and back (from Oracle8i and XML)? If

I have a similar question for you: I have an ASP page (coded in vbScript) that connects to an oracle 9i database via ODBC and accesses data using ADO.
Using this method I can read and write to the database successfully for all data types except that of XML Type.
It is my understanding that a column of XML Type is fundamentally treated as a CLOB column underneath the covers. Then why can I write data to a CLOB column and not to an XML column using ADO methods??
Here is the code I am using:

Single Chart Series with multiple color data points

I am developing an application using the flex chart component
and I am binding data to 3 different chart series which is pretty
intense processing. I was wondering can I use only one chart series
and when I bind the data points just to change the color per data
point which meet certain criteria?

Can Tooltips be used with Page View data sets?

Does the Tooltip widget alway look only at {ds_CurrentRowID}
? Since my Tooltip content area is displaying a spry:detailregion
of items in a paged view it will only display data from the first
row of each page.
Is there a way to work around this?

Problem with lookup-table and single quotes

SOA Suite 10.1.3.3. I have an ESB project with an XSLT map that uses orcl:lookup-table to translate values. I use this instead of lookup-dvm because I want non-IT users to manage the mappings without having access to the ESB Console.
According to the doco:-
G.1.79 lookup-table
orcl:lookup-table(table, inputColumn, key, outputColumn, datasource)
This function returns a string based on the SQL query generated from the parameters.
The string is obtained by executing:
SELECT outputColumn FROM table WHERE inputColumn = key
The problem I'm having is that it seems if "key" contains a single quote (i.e an apostrophe), then lookup-table fails to find the corresponding value - even though the value in table.inputColumn also contains the single quote.
I've put the incoming into an XSL variable, but to no avail.

Ok - the above was on the right track but wasn't 100% because it can't handle more than 1 single quote (apostrophe) in the input to lookup-table.
I've since found a better solution - an XSLT re-usable template that operates recursively and so can replace multiple occurances of single quotes. I've modified it to handle a null input value, otherwise lookup-table will just return the value of the first row in the lookup table - doh! The way I've done it below, if null is passed in, then null will be returned.
This goes at the top of your XSLT map file...

If you are talking about planning members with a text data type then it is not possible to load the actual text string using a load rule,essbase just stores a numeric value and the text string relating to that numeric value is stored in the planning applications relational tables.

It doesn't have problem with other special characters, such as "<".">",""", "@" etc.
Finally, I fix the problem by replacing apostrohy with "'".
I just wonder if anyone has similar prolbem and wehether this is some bug in certain version of JSTL or some configuration issue ( for example, some definittion for end of the string in some config file, etc).I'm using JSTL 1.1.1.2.

I think the escape character for a single quote is the single quote itself. Give that a shot.

Return key not creating a new line when using the horizontal text tool

Going through the adobe after effects 'classroom in a book' examples - when writing a line of single line using the horizontal text tool pressing return does not create the next line underneath, the cursor stays on the same line?
Anybody out there had this problem?

My OS is windows 7. I think it is the first time I have needed to put more than one line of text in an after effects layer. I am new to CS5.5 - after effects and I'm going through an adobe tutorial 'classroom in a book' series book.
I thought about using a paragraph text box as you suggest but could not find the function in the tools menu.
I have since tried clearing the cache out and restoring default layout but with no joy.
I have used the return key for multiple line text in premier pro and it works perfectly ok.
