New Infoobjects with Master & Text Data

Experts,
I am creating ZInfoobjects based on fields from R/3.
How does one decide i.e. on what factors should the ZInfoobject be:
a. Master Data
b. Text Data
C Hierarchy.

Hi Rajesh,
Based on base tables you can not say that you need master data or not. If you load master data it improves the performance of the dataloading as system finds SID's in master data quickly. If you do not load master data while loading transactional data anyway it will create entries in the master data table automatically slowing the transactional data load. In your case,
VGABE (Transaction/event type, purchase order history.)
Suppose values are as AS, EW,XY. In report while selecting the transaction type ( via variable) in F4 help if user sees only AS,EW they will not understand what the type exactly mean. If you load Tet master data for VGABE( zinfoobject) you will be able to see text along with the value.
In addition if user wants to see key figure values distributed in the hierarchy as e.g for 0material,
material            Qty.
Childrenwear     30
   womenwear    40
in such case you need to build hierarchy.

Assigning InfoObject with Master Data as InfoProvider

Hi,
In BW 3.x we used to assign the InfoObject with Master Data as InfoProvider only if we want to perform Query on that InfoObject.
But in BI 2004's, is it must to assign InfoObject with Master Data as an InfoProvider???
Because when I create the Transformation to load Text or Attribute Data, the system automatically assigs that InfoObject as an InfoProvider.
Is there a way to skip using that InfoObject as an InfoProvider during Tranformation if I do not want to perform any reporting on it.

No. It is not possible.
However for easy grouping, create another infoarea and attach all report relevent infoproviders under this infoarea.

Master text data in Open Hub

Hi All,
I am working on BI 7.0 and am currently working on Open Hub. I have to extract data from a cost center infocube, but i also need to send the master text data for certain fields along with the infocube data into the file server.
Is this possible with open hub services,could someone please provide me with a step by step procedure to this one.
I have been following a similar thread

Please let me know if it was succefully implemented by someone.

Following are 2 approaches to achieve this
Approach 1:
1. Create info spoke which will extract data from cube to data base table (do not use file)
2. Create one more info spoke which will extract master data text to data base table (again do not use file)
3. Create join on both the data base tables.
4. Write a ABAP program which will create a file based on the joins of tables.
Approach 2 :
1. Create multiprovider on cube and master data info object
2. Create info spoke based on the multi provider, that will extract data to flat file
For 2nd approach u have to put certain filters to avoid unwanted rows

Is it possible to add new columns with format "Text" once a table is linked to a form

Is it possible to add new columns with format "Text" once a table is linked to a form in Numbers for iPhone or is it impossible and thus a serious bug?(Rating stars and numeric vales seem to work.)
Those bugs happen both for new speadsheets as well as existing onces, like the demo. When you are in the form only the numeric keyboard shows up.
Pat from the Apple Store Rosenstrasse/Germany approved that it looks like a Bug during the Numbers Workshop I was in: It is not possible to add new columns with format "Text". I reported the error for Version 1.4 but there is no update nor do I get statement of understanding the issue.

I see what you are talking about now. Without knowing how the program actually works, I think this is what's going on:
When you add a new column to an already existing table (with already existing formats), the new cells come already formatted like the previous column. So when you add a column to the end of the demo table, the cells are already formatted like stars, and when you add a column to the beginning, they're already formatted like number.
I think this is why it's different when if you add columns to a table with blank (unformatted) columns. In that case, the new cells aren't already "tainted" with a set format, so you can change to text format without issue.
It seems like the problem is that you can't format cells that are already formatted as "number" as "text" format (even if it doesn't look like they are, because they are blank). IMO, this is a bug! This is why you don't see this issue when adding columns to a new table, because the new cells don't already come with a format.
To workaround, you can highlight the body cells after adding the new column, and delete the cells. This will "clear" the formatting, so you can then go in the inspector, format them as text, and the correct keyboard will pop up.

Customer Master Text data label display in BEx query

Hi,
In my query output i have the customer number and its text displayed. The data comes from customer master infoobject.
But the label is displayed only for customer number.
But I need the label for text also needs to be displayed.
Kindly let me know is there any possibilities to display the label for the text.

For 0CUSTOMER , name attribute is there so it will work fine, for others like 0MATERIAL, 0COMP_CODE etc. you can follow the steps which i have posted in above reply.
Use the same steps for 0Material, creation of Z- infoobject with reference char. of 0Material.....
Create one custom 'z' InfoObject lets say ZCUSTOMER with Reference Characteristic of 0CUSTOMER and add it to the data target, map it with same field for which 0CUSTOMER is mapped and load data into target (DSO, cube) or if you are reporting on multiprovider then assign it.
Because ZCUSTOMER is created with reference of 0CUSTOMER and mapped with the same source field , ZCUSTOMER will act as copy of 0CUSTOMER.
In query designer drag 0CUSTOMER and ZCUSTOMER. change display setting
0CUSTOMER display as Key only
ZCUSTOMER display as Text only.

Thanks for sharing your use case. I have a few questions if you don't mind:
1) What file formats are typically found within these compressed containers? For example, html, xml, txt, pdf, MS Office, etc.
2) Do these compressed containers ever have other embedded compressed containers within them? For example, a zip file containing other zip files within it.
3) If the intention is to process document files, do any of the document files have other document formats embedded/nested within them? For example, a MS Word document with a spreadsheet embedded within it.

'Error in Loading Master -Text data'

hi Experts,
i am Novice in BW Tech. Today i have tries to Load Master data Attr and Text from Flat file(CSV ) format .
AttrData Load was Successful but I My Text is failed to Load.
My Text Data file has Three fields
(1) Langu for this filed i have Loaded data 'E'
(2) Materailnumber it is my key field it size is char
15 and values in the file 'MAT01' ' MAT02 ' and so on
(3) Third is the Description and its size 20 char
I can see following error
First field 'langu' is successful in loading.
System response
A caller 01, 02 or equal to or greater than 20 contains an error meesage.

Set up & siync New Z22 with old Z22 data

My old Z22 malfunctioned, so I bought a new one. I would now like to get the data in the Palm software on my
computer (not in Outlook) with my new handheld.
I cannot fine documentation for how to do this, but it must be somewhere, as I am sure I am not the first person to
replace a handheld!

I am having the same problem with my new z22. Have downloaded all info from old cracked screen z22 which I named "old palm" as my user name. I have added one record to my new palm with the stylus. I am trying to get the data that is now on my computer onto my new palm which i have named "new palm". When I connect new palm and press hotsync it says status: identifying user, user: new palm but then asks if i want to set up a new account on this pc giving only options as ok or cancel neither of which seem to help. Have tried lots of ways and different methods but can't work this out. Can you help?

Hi Marko.
Go to t-code PA30, enter the personnel number of the employee whom you have hired.
At the top in the menu bar, select "UTILITIES" - "Change entry/leaving date".
It will take you to the screen - "Change Actions" - Change " Start date".
This will correct the hiring date of the employee.

Change Info Object Master/Text data in PROD to Time dependant

Hello Experts,
I have an Info Object used in ODS and Cube. Both ODS and Cube has data in it. The Info Object has Text data.
I need to change Info Object Text data as Time dependant.
What are best way to make this change? If I make change to Info Object, how it's going to effect Cube and ODS.

Yes I am selectiong the check box to make IO as time dependant.
May be I am over complicationg this. Here is my understanding, correct me if I am wrong.
The IO is used in cube. It belongs to Dimension1. This dimension table is nothing but dim id's and SID's. So the Dimension table is built based on the exist SID values.
When I make change to IO, the data and SID's will change. Doesn't it cause some data inconsistancy ? And also the IO text table will have multiple rows with the same data but with different validity periods.
As I said I may be thinking too foolish or technical.
Please advise.

An inefficient way to create the array is to use the build array and a shift register as shown below. It's more effecient in terms of memory management to create the array and then use the replace array subset as shown in the other image. Of course, if you don't need the array inside the loop, just wire the value out of the while loop and on the exit tunnel, right click and select 'Enable Indexing'.

How do I synch my new iPad with my existing backup?

Restore from iTune Backup (new iPad will start from #5)
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Select Network and input Password>Join
9. Enable Location Service>Next
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Select Restore from iTune Backup
12. You will see picture of USB cable pointing towards iPad
13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
14. Tap Continue (computer)
15. Restore iPad from Backup (computer)
16. See progress bar with estimated time (computer)

Single quote used with in text data renders to inalid display

I have the following text snipit that is coming from an Oracle database column: ...did not include 'special decontamination'. New ...
I am putting this into a pretty standard text object. When the report is previewed and subsequently printed as a PDF each single quote is transformed to the text string &_#_3_9_; code (without the underscores). This also occurs for quotation marks appearing as &_q_u_o_t_; and ampersands appearing as &_;_a_m_p_;
I've tried changing the text interpretation property from none to rtf and, with a refresh, nothing changed. It is hard for me to believe that no one else has seen this but since you can not search the forum for this string (as it converts it to the single quote) may not one has asked.

The CLOB would do it.
Not sure there is a way around this aside from how you've already been dealing with it.
To simply your formula a bit, you don't need to do a loop just have it check for each of the tags like:
stringVar TempText := {PPR_Main.CONCERNS};
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_#_3_9_;', "'") ;
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_;_a_m_p_', "&") ;
TempText := Replace (TempText, '&_q_u_o_t_;', '"') ;

I agree though that there may be other tags added later on based on other characters so it could be infinite. Try the common characters like Exclamation and Question marks.

Finder does not show new files with older creation dates

Short story: when I somehow create new files or folders with older dates, Finder does not show them.
This happens e.g. when I unrar archives created some time ago: the files or folders coming out of the archive get their original date, which is earlier than today.
I can see those files and folders without problems in a terminal (using ls). But they don't show up in Finder when I visit the same directory.
When I use terminal to go into some directory that is not yet visible in Finder, and I open a new Finder window for that directory from within terminal (using "open ."), the new directory and its contents will show up in Finder.
My best guess is that some things have changed in the way Finder and the indexing of my flle system co-operate. In any case, this is higly annoying.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same problem. I create files and they do not show up in their respective Finder window. I know the files are there because I created them and I can see them using Terminal and applications can open them. If I refresh the window by going to the parent directory and back again, the files do not show up. If I close all windows and open that specific window again, the files still do not show up. If I leave the computer overnight, the new files still do not show up. As brdsutte stated, after rebooting the computer, the files show up in the Finder window. Anyone have any suggestions?
