Site Studio 10gR3 to R4

Hi All,
We need to migrate from Site Stuidio 10gR3 to 10gR4.
Our current CS config :
Version: 10.1.3.3.2 (071031) (Build:7.2.2.184)
SiteStudio
03-11 (7.7.2.240)
Compatible with Build (2008-)     Feature Extensions:SiteStudio:7.7.2.240-1.0,ContentTrackerSupport:1.0-1.0
Classpath: $COMPONENT_DIR/classes;$COMPONENT_DIR/lib/jakarta-oro-2.0.8.jar;
Libpath: $COMPONENT_DIR/lib
No patches or upgrades have ever been installed on this since its installation on Feb 2008.
Could you please guide me the way to plan this activity. I mean any sort of documentation or steps that we need to go through or check list or test plan before we carry out this activity.
One more question :
What are the latest versions of Content Server and Site Studio?
Thanks,
Nir.

Hi Sreenath,
Thank you for the information. When we migrate from 10gR3 to 10gR4, can we safely assume the following things:
-- All existing customizations done on 10gR3 will continue to work on new platform versioned at 10gR4
-- Will be able to do enhancements and add new templates on 10gR4 [SS resources and mainly templates(hcsp) ]without any side effects.

Gowtham

  • Using the ssIncludeXml function in Site Studio 10gR4

    Since the managed data file format has changed dramatically in Site Studio 10gR4, how do I still use ssIncludeXml to extract a particular element?
    For example, a data file in Site Studio 10gR3 looks similar to this:
    <region1>
    <PageBody>
    </PageBody>
    </region1>
    To extract the "PageBody" element I would use the ssIncludeXml function like this:
    ssIncludeXml(dDocName,"region1/PageBody/node()")
    In Site Studio 10gR4 a typical data file format looks like this:
    <wcm:root>
    <wcm:element name="PageBody">
    </wcm:element>
    </wcm:root>
    How do I use the ssIncludeXml function to match the "PageBody" here?
    Thanks!

    I'm trying to do this in Site Studio 11g and am having zero luck. I have an HCSP in Site Studio [which I am using to write XML] that is querying the system and returning a set of XML data files. In my HSCP, I have
    <link><!--$$ssIncludeXml(dDocName, "wcm:root/wcm:element\[@name='url'\]/text()")--></link>
    The XML documents' format is
    <wcm:root version="8.0.0.0">
    <wcm:element name="metadata"/>
    <wcm:element name="url">http://www.cnn.com</wcm:element>
    <wcm:element name="thumbnail"><img src="/cs/groups/internal/documents/digitalmedia/mdaw/mdex/~edisp/cf_12_831_ivolunteers_3_.jpg" alt="ivolunteers" /></wcm:element>
    <wcm:element name="text">This is my link text</wcm:element></wcm:root>
    When I run this, however, I get nothing returned (no errors either).
    Frustration! :) Any ideas?

  • How to pass idoc parameters in a validation script? (10gR3 site studio)

    Obviously idoc won't work in the actual validation script, so I'd like to use it to generate the parameters to pass to a custom function.
    If I add <!--$siteId--> as a parameter in design mode, it'll be added as: &amp;lt;!--$siteId--&amp;gt; which doesn't work.
    If I manually add <!--$siteId--> to the parameter code in Source mode, this works just fine. However, once I enter design mode, Designer strips it out and now I have no parameter.
    Is there any way to somehow escape the less than/greater than symbols in Design mode?
    It's really unfortunate how the contributor windows are static HTML pages that don't retain what site they're on. Maybe this has changed in the 10gR4.

    Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to say that we have had problems with Design mode in general and don't use it anymore. Switching between Source and Design has cause multiple errors in our Site Studio template. We do all of our Designer editing in Source mode. Any actual design work is done in an external editor and the HTML source is then brought over into Site Studio in Source mode.
    I was disappointed when 10gR4 came out and Oracle said they did no significant changes (improvements) to Site Studio Designer application.

  • Site Studio Designer Install on windows 7 - 64 bit

    has anyone installed designer on a 64 bit system? windows 7?
    thanks!

    The only caveat is that if you have multiple Designers installed (ie. one for 10gR3 and one for 11g), they will crash unless you register their separate DLLs before launching. So you'll need to create a batch file for each Designer and put the following:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\Universal Content Management\Site Studio\Designer\11gR1\SSHelp.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\Universal Content Management\Site Studio\Designer\11gR1\SSHtmlTidy.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\Universal Content Management\Site Studio\Designer\11gR1\SSLoggerEngine.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\Universal Content Management\Site Studio\Designer\11gR1\SSWebBrowserEx.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\Universal Content Management\Site Studio\Designer\11gR1\SiteStudioDesigner.exe"
    and similarly for 10gR3.

  • Install different versions of Site Studio Designer...

    Hi all,
    I have to install different versions of the product in the same machine (Site Studio Designer 7.7 (currently installed) and Site Studio Designer 10g).
    When I am trying to install 10g version, I get a message to delete the previous version, and I can not install.
    I have seen that there are ways to run different versions already installed on your PC (running scripts pointing to the dll files for each version), but can not find anything on the previous step to install them.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi all,
    In case anyone has the same error, I've got a possible solution.
    I have changed the directory name of the Stellent Site Studio Designer 7.7. I tried to install de new version (10gR3), and I clicked 'Yes' to uninstall the previous version.
    The new installation was successfully.
    The, I had created a script to register their separate DLLs before launching. So you'll need to create a batch file for each Designer and put the following:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSHelp.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSHtmlTidy.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSLoggerEngine.dll"
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSWebBrowserEx.dll"
    "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SiteStudioDesigner.exe"
    and similar for 10gR3 version, as indicated in the next thread: Site Studio Designer Install on windows 7 - 64 bit

  • Upgrade Content Server and Site Studio

    Hello Everyone,
    We are trying to upgrade both Content Server and Site Studio from 7.1 / 7.2.1 to
    10gR3
    1) Instead of updating existing instance we Installed new 10gR3 instance
    Exported folder structure archive, layout files and data files from old instance
    2) Imported into new 10gR3 instance.
    3) Tried to upgrade sitestudio websites
    4) Its created a project file but not adding any SiteStudio section properties
    (ex. primaryURL, secondaryURL, IncludeSectionInNavigation etc.), if I open the site in
    designer, it shows just blank site structure without any templates associated and all sections are disabled.
    Any ideas on this??
    Venkat

    Hi ,
    If you are displaying the data from spaces only then all the operations like creating a web content , editing it etc can be done from Webcenter spaces itself .
    Thanks

  • Site Studio fails to start

    Sorry for the omission - This is a brand new installation on Windows 3000 SP2. I can open everything in the manager on the content server itself and everything appears to be configured and the types seem right. I am redownloading the pieces - there is some confusion on the dynamic converter - which was not in any of the packages downloaded previously - so I will try some of the other packages (there are two versions of the DocMan - so maybe one has the converter) the docs say this module plays a part in the checkin process - we will see.
    The 10gR2 database is on a seperate server. Also Win 3k SP2.
    I went through the cs logs and found some issues with the classified documents option as well - I will try to clean that up - who knows - so many moving parts.

  • Migrating Site Studio pages to 11g

    We are in the middle of an upgrade from 10gR3 to 11g, and I am trying to get our Site Studio sites working in the new environment. The Sites were originally developed in 751 and migrated up to 10gR3 in 2009. The problem is that many of the pages are now throwing JavaScript errors and not working as a result.
    When I dig into the source of the pages in error, I foundnd a reference to idcBundle.js that not longer exists in 11g. I think this script defined a lot of the functions used in base.js, such as idc.schema and idc.string. I have replaced the reference to idcBundle.js with bundle.js, and that appears to have resolved some of my issues, but I am still getting some errors in base.js with references to idc.schema ("idc.schema is not defined").
    I have been back over the doco a couple of times and found very little on this subject. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestion on this?
    Please note that I didn't develop the sites initially, so I don't know why the original developer used these scripts in the first place. I just have to get them working in 11g. Any input is greatfully received.
    Thanks,
    Alec

    Hi Remmer ,
    I tested this using the following scenario :
    1. Create a Site and set it to Secure public group
    2. Launch this site , it will show the login screen - checked tracing and it shows to redirect to GET /adfAuthentication?login=true
    and redirects to GET /cs/login/login.htm
    3. Enter the credentials - POST /cs/login/j_security_check is called and the parameters are passed as :
    j_character_encoding=UTF-8&j_username=weblogic&j_password=welcome1
    4. This again redirects to GET /adfAuthentication?login=true which in turn (if authentication is successful ) redirects to http://hostname:port/<Site>/index.htm
    So I believe this should work in your case :
    <input type="hidden" name="RedirectUrl" value="/OurSite/index.htm"/>
    Basically the current form code need to be re-designed and using the above urls / login authentication params will need to test with Redirect part .
    Create a new form and test , update this post how it works .
    We can take it forward accordingly .
    Thanks,
    Srinath

  • Site Studio publisher utility error

    Hi,
    I am a bit new to UCM. I am trying to publish a site created using site-studio. For this, from what i inferred from the documentations, was to use the site-studio publishing utility. So to run the utility, i try and run the cns.oracle bat file on my windows machine. I have made the appropriate changes in the cns.oracle config file. Now when i run the batch file i get a java.sqlexception: table or view doesnt exist.
    Can anybody guide me on this or am i missing something. I went throught the installation docs and it say i need to create the required tables using the syn_server.oracle8.sql. But i cannot find any sql file named so in the place where my content server is installed.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    I downloaded the Site Studio Publishing Utility 10gR3 today from the Oracle website. It has two folders SiteStudioPublishingUtility and SubscriptionClient. These both folders have conf, lib, unix, win32. But sql directory folder is not there.
    Anybody has any idea about it.

    I have already installed UCM 10gr3 content server and have apache web server.
    I would like to install site studio and then try to create contents and publish the same.
    Can some one help me with site studio installation for my configuration.
    Please also reccomand tutorials to understand site studio better interms of installation and usage.
    Cheers

    This error may occur if the zip you are selecting and uploading is not actually the component file. For example, you will see this error if you select the Site Studio application zip file (SiteStudio_10gR3_20080502.zip) instead of unzipping this file then selecting the component zip (sitestudio8.0.0.260.zip) from the unzipped "component" folder.
    I hopes this information helps you find a solution to your difficulties.

    First of all, I think you are in a wrong forum. This seems to be WebCenter Content
    The list of components is available here: About Site Studio for External Applications - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    However, the error you get states something about indexes. You may have to re-run the Indexer after new components are enabled and the server restarted. See Managing Search Features - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
