Hmmm
The only important application that I really really must have.
This is just sad, now standing just a threshold before some Symbian devices gets Symbian Belle.
In my case and for the company, an upgrade to Belle is not an option.
Skype is too important.
I use Nokia E6 for the daily use.
Anyone had Skype installed before an upgraded Anna to Belle...does it work then?
Don´t really want to do some "tweaking" on this phone just to be able to run Skype inside of Belle.
I don´t care about "angry pigs" or even "shoot em down", i want useful applications that is useful for everyday life.
Mr Elop, please take your this great application to the our beloved Symbian 3 Belle!

  • Is it a REAL Skype for 701 !!

Hi, i downloaded SKYPE for my bele from ovi store and started using it since 24hours , but i felt bad after seeing there is no video calling feature into it   , and one more thing i noticed is that when ever skype is being used the red proximity sensor is seen ON ! is that a flaw ??
please answer NOKIA  these 2 questions:-
    1) is there any update coming for this skype version which provides video calling ?
    2) what to do with that proximity sensor which is seen always on when using skype !?
    Sandeep

    1. Updates for Skype are provided by Skype itself.
    2. Proximity sensor is very important, when you call somebody your cheek touches the screen, so call may disconnect if the touch screen is enabled, proximity sensor disables the touch screen when you place your phone near your face.
    Hope you got it.
    Happy that i got Skype.

  • Skype for Symbian / Nokia Store Issue / Update Sky...

Well this is actually utterly and bitterly disapointing from Skype and / or Microsoft and could actually be embarassing... In what world are they living? Greed and more profit making? Excuse me but we did not see any official statement yet concerning the drop / end of Skype support of the Symbian platform.
    1) How come Skype randomly disapears from the Nokia Store without warning or an official statement from Skype and / or Microsoft?
    2) Why would there be discriminating towards Symbian / Nokia users who are forced to use an out of date version of Skype without support for Microsoft account login?
    3) Isn't Skype / Microsoft shooting themselves into their own legs? Own goal? Why would I spend for a new Nokia phone using Windows 8 Mobile OS ( and I have the money to do it ) when I got a fully working Symbian Nokia that does all what I need? Carefull, this strategy might just make people disgusted of Nokia thus indirectly the Windows 8 Mobile OS.... as we all know of the relationship between Nokia and Microsoft nowadays.
    4) The ridiculous statements I see on these forums about the phasing out of Symbian sometimes make me laugh. The developpers are just causing this artificial phase out by just being like rats leaving a sinking ship. Just show with proof that the Symbian needs a phase out... From what I know it is still very popular in Europe and Africa.
I am suprised that I had to have an outburst on these forums... I am a huge fan of Skype and the Microsoft products... Xbox and so on. But well anyway these were my points. I hope that this will be taken into consideration even though I am sure Symbian users would not ask too much, an update to be able to use the Microsoft account login would stop the inegality between the platforms concerning the ability to talk to our Msn / messenger contacts....
    Regards.

Yes your Skype for Symbian FAQ (6/2013) was of great help a few days ago when I was surprised to find that Skype had mysteriously disapeared from the Nokia / OVI Store. I had an issue with the Skype install I had on my Nokia 500 running Symbian Belle, on which I had installed Skype from Nokia / OVI store since last year, so I had to un-install it. So I went for a re-install but nothing... no Skype on Nokia / OVI Store so I tried your FAQ.

I signed on my Nokia / OVI account because this was the version I needed for Symbian Belle but the file downloaded wasn't of .sis extension but was of .dm extension. So I couldnt install it.
I managed to get an alternate install file of Skype v2.1.0.23 ( latest and maybe last for Symbian Belle ) if this can be of any help to anyone using Symbian Belle:

  • Skype for symbian such a shame

    Hi nokia community,
skype for symbian on my belle nokia 701 is a complete disappointment, not even a single feature is new.
It is same old skype for symbian packed with new touch UI, and why doesn't skype support video call for latest belle devices?
Seriously it feels like living in old times, having all the hardware required on my device but still unable to make use of front cam , is nokia doing anything in this regard?
After all nokia and microsoft are partners now, they should take care of things like these, why we symbian users are left behind without any useful productivity apps like other leading OSes in market?
Please let me know your views, and is there any way I can use my device's for video calls (other than network video calls)?
Your support would be highly appreciated.

The biggest problem I have on Skype for S^3 (N8) is that voice calls are completely useless, the other end can never understand what I'm saying.  This is on 3G and Wifi networks with no other apps running in background.
The second biggest problem I'm having is that after sending an SMS (via Skype app) the message screen does not disappear and there's no confirmation that the message was sent.
I agree, Skype is completely useless with voice calls, I at first put this down to the other party trying to connect to me using video calling but after reading the above I wonder whether that was the case.

  • Any way to remove the prompt after Skype for Business patch?

So we rolled out the latest patches to our test machines and everyone got the new Skype for Business upgrade.  When each person logged in they were greeted with a window that said something like:
"Your administrator is set for you to use the Lync User Interface."
We then had to click the Restart Now button which caused Lync to close and open up again and it looked like Lync instead of like Skype.
Is there any way to not have that pop up open and to just have everyone get the old Lync interface as if nothing happened?  GPO, Registry, etc?
We want to minimize any confusion people are sure to have the first time they use it.
    Thanks!

You can enable the SkypeUI (Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true) with the backend still being Lync Server 2013 to get the new client look and feeling.
The Skype for Business 2015 RTM Server bits should be out in May, but the current new functionality can be taken from:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn933785.aspx
Please mark posts as answers/helpful if it answers your question.
    Blog
Lync Validator - Used to assist in the validation and documentation of Lync Server 2013.
Can I just enable it for individual users for testing?  I tried doing a get-csclientpolicy and replacing -identity global with -identity <user ID> but it said it didn't exist since it seems it's looking for policies.  Not sure if there's
some other way to do that.
Do I need to setup a new policy and just add certain people to it or is there any other way to do that for specific users?
    Thanks!

  • Submit: Great Skype for Windows Phone ideas

We have just launched a new Windows Phone idea board to let you all share and exchange your ideas on how to improve and develop Skype for Windows Phone.
Before you start sharing your ideas, here are some guidelines to help you get started:
    Idea Submission Guidelines
Search before posting. Do a quick search and make sure you are not submitting a duplicate. If the idea already exists show your support by giving kudos to the original idea rather than watering down the potential impact across multiple submissions.
Draft your idea. Be as clear as possible, tell us what your idea is, how it would benefit users and why you think we should consider it. That will not only help us to better understand what you want, but we may even be able to solve your problem more quickly another way. Please avoid text speak and keep the idea short and to the point. Ideas are available within a limited number of topic sections of the community as they are not discussion threads.
Currently you can choose one of the following topic labels for your ideas:
    Video Messaging
We‘ve just launched Video Messaging on Windows Phone so you can now send video messages to family and friends, even when they’re not online. Let us know what you think of Video Messaging on Windows Phone and any ideas you have for how we can make it better.
    Phone Integration
Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Contacts
How can we make it easier for you to find friends and family on Skype and add them as a contact? What are your thoughts on how contacts are managed on Skype for Windows Phone? Do you have any recommended improvements?
    Calling
Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Instant Messaging
Video calling is one of Skype’s most popular features. What do/don’t you like about Video calling on Skype for Windows Phone and do you have any ideas for how we can make video calling even better?
    Some things to include:
    Start with a clear title
    add appropriate label(s)
    list features and benefits
Review the ideas of others. Look at other ideas to see what your fellow community members are requesting and feel free to exchange on them in the comments section. While we take into account the numbers of kudos an idea receives, we also consider the amount and quality of member feedback when making our decisions.
Add value. Vote for those items that you like and agree with by giving the idea a kudos. It's really a significant way to recognize someone's effort. We are using votes as a barometer to find out more about what our contributor community thinks is important, so we can factor this into our prioritization process.
Submit a new idea. Adding an idea is just like posting a message on a board. To create an idea, click on the “New Idea” button, located on the left side of the page content tab, and in the left column under the actions heading click “create an idea”. Be sure to enter a clear title and description of your idea so others can decide how they would like to vote. Remember, the more complete your thought, the more likely it is to get noticed! You can use simple HTML, format the text, or add links or images. You can also preview your idea and check your spelling before you post the idea.
Do not be discouraged. Sometimes what seems simple may not be so simple to build. Some ideas take longer than others, and some ideas will not be possible within the scope of what we want to accomplish in the next year or so.
Be respectful. Comply with the Community Guidelines and Skype etiquette.

    •  Top Ideas – The most kudoed ideas.

How to check if an idea exists already?
Use the search function filtering by the ideas board – or click here (direct link to search function)
    What do the votes/kudos mean?
Just as you can give kudos in the community boards and blogs, you can vote for ideas you like on the Idea Board. Ideas with high vote totals are more likely to be recognized and accepted by the teams at Skype who develop our products and services. You can also leave comments on ideas, but remember to be kind!
What do the different idea statuses mean?
We strive to review submitted ideas on a biweekly/monthly cycle. Each idea will go through a life cycle that will be assigned statuses at each milestone. The statuses are explained here:

Already exists - This is available in the product.
Future possibility - Idea is a good one but not something we can include in a near-term product or software release.
Accepted - Idea has been accepted and has been taken forward for implementation, check back soon for updates.
Not right now - We like the idea but just not for right now, we will revisit it in the future.
Implemented - You asked for it, we did it!
My idea has been accepted. How long will it take to be implemented?
Sadly, we will not be able to provide dates for the implementation of any accepted ideas within the community due to the number of factors involved. Please be patient and let us make sure it is completely ready before we make it available.
How will I know if an idea has been implemented?
You can track the status of your ideas as your ideas are sent to the people here at Skype who can make them happen and you will see the status of your idea is updated. We will be telling you if the idea is something we are working on now or would like to do in the future, or if it’s something that is not feasible for us at this time. To ensure you don’t miss any updates select “Subscribe” from the “Idea Options” menu when viewing your idea.
What ideas have been implemented so far?
You can check "Accepted and Implemented ideas" topic here.
Can I edit or delete my ideas comments?
No, you can't. Be sure to check your spelling and preview your comment before you post it; you can't edit a comment once it's posted.
Who and how often moderates/ manages the ideas board?
The community team is monitoring the board on the daily basis and product managers will come in on a monthly basis to update statuses of the ideas and post their comments.
If Skype decides not to pursue my idea, will you tell me why?
We do not always provide the reasons for our decisions regarding ideas submitted for review but will strive to provide an explanation where possible.
I have an idea to improve the Windows Phone software itself?
Microsoft has set up a Windows Phone Feature Suggestion Box for exactly that purpose. Share your idea here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
If I am not comfortable submitting my idea over the Internet, is there another way I can do so?
    No.

I would really appreciate if you guys work on the feature “ custom backgrounds for chat notifications”.If users will be able to choose any image of their liking in the custom background feature if would add value. Currently some of the chat messengers provide this facility to the users which makes interesting to the users while improving user friendliness and satisfaction. Options that would include areTake a photoChoose from albumsSearch from webDeleteThat appears to be a reasonably robust selection. In search, a user can use a built in engine to pull up images based on search and then select it as it their choice. Once you chose an image, it will be asked to confirm and ‘set’ as the universal chat window for all contacts.

  • Lync 2013 - Skype for business User Interface

    Hello,
We are using Lync 2013 with Lync 2013 server with CU from August 2014 (so not ready for Skype for Business).
I have installed latest Desktop Updates for Windows and Office, and now everytime we log on we get the Skype for Business UI with the question to restart the client with the Lync UI.
I have followed the recommendation in this article:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
    I have set this:
In the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Lync] key, create a new
    Binary value.
The Value name must be  EnableSkypeUI, and the
Value data   must be set  to 00 00 00 00.
But this settings seems to be completely ignored... doesn't do anything.
We can't set the policy on the server, as the server is not yet up-to-date and doesn't know about a Skype UI policy.
Can somebody please tell me how I can start the updated Lync / Skype for Business client with the Lync UI as a default (without disturbing the user with the restart-the-client pop-up)?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
As mentioned the Lync Server is not up-to-date, based on my knowledge this is why the issue occurs.
Please refer to this article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
You can configure the client experience only if you are running Lync Server 2013 with the December 2014 Cumulative Update (5.0.8308.857) or later installed. The latest one is:
KB 3036869 February 2015 Cumulative Update 5.0.8308.871 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server.
You can specify the client experience the users in your organization will see by using the
Set-CSClientPolicy cmdlet with the EnableSkypeUI parameter:
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true

  • Wanted: Your Skype for Windows Desktop ideas

We have just launched a new Windows Desktop Client idea board to let you all share and exchange your ideas on how to improve and develop Skype for Windows desktop client.
Before you start sharing your ideas, here are some guidelines to help you get started:
    Idea Submission Guidelines
Make sure your ideas are for the right client.  This idea board is for Skype for Windows desktop client, not Skype for Windows 8.
Search before posting.  Do a quick search and make sure you are not submitting a duplicate. If the idea already exists show your support by giving kudos to the original idea rather than watering down the potential impact across multiple submissions.
It's a way to recognize someone's effort and to signal to us how important the idea is to you. We are using votes and comments as a barometer to find out more about what our contributor community thinks is important, so we can factor this into our prioritization process.
Submit a new idea. Adding an idea is just like posting a message on a board. To create an idea, click on the “New Idea” button, located on the top left side of the idea board.
Be sure to enter a clear title and description of your idea so others can decide how they would like to vote. Be as clear as possible, tell us what your idea is. Remember to include how it would benefit users and why you think we should consider it as well as scenarios that you think the idea would be used it. That will not only help us to better understand what you want, but we may even be able to solve your problem more quickly another way. You can also preview your idea and check your spelling before you post the idea.
You will need to select a label for your idea, you can choose from one of the following labels:
    Voice
Tell us how you would change the calling experience in Skype when making voice calls to contacts or phone numbers.
    Video
Video is one of the core functionalities of Skype, tell us how you would make it better!
    Instant Messaging & Contacts
How would you make the messaging and contacts experience better?  You can also include ideas around how you would improve the main user interface of Skype within this label.
    Sharing
Today you can share photos, videos, files or your computer screen using Skype for Windows desktop. What would you change or add to the sharing experience to make it better?
    Tips to draft your idea:
    Start with a clear title
Include scenarios and use cases for how the idea would be used
    Add appropriate label(s)
    List features and benefits
Keep it short and to the point
    Avoid tech speak
Do not be discouraged if your idea was not selected.  Sometimes what seems to be a simple idea may not be so simple to build. Some ideas take longer than others, and some ideas will not be possible within the scope of what we want to accomplish in the next year or so.
Be respectful.  Comply with the Community Guidelines and Skype etiquette.
Rights to Feedback: Skype may or may not use your comments, ideas, or suggestions. Skype reserves the right to use for any purpose including commercial purposes, comments, ideas, suggestions, code, products or services (“Content”) that are posted on this community without any obligation to compensate the individual or entity that provided the Content. By posting any Content in the community, you hereby relinquish any right you may have in such Content and to any future compensation for publication, use, distribution, license or sale of the same. By posting Content, you represent and warrant that you either own or control all of the rights to that Content, and such Content does not violate any third party rights or these Skype Terms of Service. You agree that all opinions expressed by users of this community are expressed in their individual capacities, and not as representatives of Skype.
Recent Feedback: We have gone through some of the recent posts on the Skype for Windows desktop board and gathered some of the improvement ideas posted there.  However we need your help to prioritize these ideas against other ideas that you may have.
    Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Idea Board all about?
Idea Board is a new part of the Skype Community, where members can share their ideas about existing products and services. Anyone in the community can see and vote on the ideas you post.
We encourage you to give kudos and comment on submitted ideas as we are more likely to take the top kudoed and most discussed ones into consideration.
How do I navigate the Ideas Board?
Finding your way around the ideas board is a pretty straightforward. Here are some of the things you will see to help you get around:
New Ideas – The most recent ideas.
Hot Ideas – The most popular ideas right now.
Top Ideas – The most kudoed ideas.
    The sidebar widgets
In the sidebar you'll find more ways to sort the ideas board, see new and popular ideas and the top rated contributors to the idea board. It's also really easy to filter ideas by status, for instance if you only want to see ideas that are “Accepted”.
New Idea - Sparkly new idea, submitted by you, and ready to be vetted by the community.
Comments Requested - Items set as Comments Requested will be open to the community for feedback and votes.
Under consideration - Idea has been forwarded to appropriate business team who is determining feasibility.
More information needed - More information is needed before our Product Management team can take this forward, please review the comments left by the team.
Duplicate - Ideas in this status have already been submitted in some form or another. We will link these items over to the other idea so you can review the status or track the progress there.
You can check the "Accepted and Implemented ideas" topic which we will post once the first idea got implemented.
Can I edit or delete my ideas comments?
No, you can't. Be sure to check your spelling and preview your comment before you post it; you can't edit a comment once it's posted.
Who moderates/ manages the ideas board and in what frequency?
The community team is monitoring the board on the daily basis and product managers will come in on a bi-weekly basis to update statuses of the ideas and post their comments.
If Skype decides not to pursue my idea, will you tell me why?
We do not always provide the reasons for our decisions regarding ideas submitted for review but will strive to provide an explanation where possible.
If I am not comfortable submitting my idea over the Internet, is there another way I can do so?
No. Unfortunately we are only collecting ideas using the idea board at this time.

Wait!! If you about to post a reply to this thread this post is for you!
You guys who have posted obviously have not read the first sentence of the long OP, let alone the whole thing.
    This is the wrong place.
Post them here which is formatted for handling requests:

If you are asking questions about skype issues this thread is really the wrong place lol. Getting an answer to yoru question will require a little effort on your part.
    First go here:
    https://support.skype.com/en/
Read through that page, if you want to narrow it down and search, use the search.
Since the search targets all skype forums, include which OS you are on.
However since you all are probably on windows, click this link and use search or browse topics.
Do not post a new thread without using search. Look for forum topics marked as [Solved]. Doing otherwise spams the forum and is globally known as inappropriate and poor forum etiquette.

  • How am i getting skype for free on my kindle fire

I have Skype with my Kindle Fire HD I am not being charged it's always been free but since I got my laptop they want to charge me for skype I also asked my Fiancee if he had skype for free on his laptop he does so why am i getting the message to put money on a Skype card?

Currently you can't selectively delete chat history on Skype for Kindle Fire HD. Only way to get rid of the complete history (together with all settings) is uninstalling and reinstalling the Skype app, I'm afraid.

  • Battling Skype for over a year on overcharges rela...

I have been battling Skype for over a year on overcharges related to my Skype telephone number subscription and frankly I am sick to death of the overcharges, inability to modify my subscription, the incompetence of the online chat tech support professionals and complete and utter unwillingness to respond to legitimate concerns about overcharges on my account and the need to have credit issued back to me and my account brought up to the subscription program I choose to purchase. Skype has absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE whatsoever through email, bulletin boards, online chat and after over a dozens of tweets directed at twitter accounts Skype, Skypesupport and microsoft over many months with no replies, I am absolutely sick to death and disgusted with Skype and Microsoft, it's people and services. I demand that these problems be resolve, my account credited for the last two Skype number subscription charges and I be allowed to upgrade my Skype telephone number subscription to the extended subscription plan of my choosing and NOT BE FORCED INTO PURCHASING SUBSCRIPTION PLANS THAT I DO NOT WANT OR NEED! I expect someone from Skype to resolve this issue immediately, today, March 31, 2015, as I have been after Skype to correct these ongoing issues for a year to no avail.

     Hello
Please review these Community Guidelines and ensure that any future posts are not in contravention of our posting policy and in particular this extract:
You are expected to maintain a helpful, respectful tone when posting. Opinions are welcome, but they may not escalate into flaming and rudeness against Microsoft, Skype, its staff, other forum members or any other party.
    1. You have not been overcharged. On September 30th 2014 you ordered an Online Number, 3 month recurring subscription and were charged $18.00 which as I have already pointed out is correct. For the following 2 quarters you were charged the same amount.
    2. If you now wish to change the billing frequency to annual you need to cancel your Number at your account page [you won't lose your Number as it is reserved for you for 90 days]. Cancellation is effective on the renewal date of your current billing cycle.
    3. You can then repurchase the same Number using the annual billing option.
    4. Skype Numbers are not refundable so your proposal isn't possible.

I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

How do I download a lower version of skype for my iphone 2g?

This isn't official, but you would have to search your trash bin for a lower version of the application (backups on your computer move older versions of apps to the trash), then just delete the new app from your iDevice and iTunes, then drag the older app into iTunes and sync.
