SLD Solution Manager & connections to other SAP productes in landscape?

Hi All
I have installed Solution Manager 4.0 SR3 in order to implement global monitoring across our landscape and I have decided to install and use the SLD.
I have set up the SLD and followed the post installation guide, however I now want to connect all of our sytems to it so that Stack , version Information, components etc can be transfered to the SLD automatically. Once this is done in Solution Manager (SMSY) I can then view all of my systems.
Firstly is this possible and does anyone have any information on how to do this?
Many Thanks
Phil

Hi Phil,
It is possible.
Firstly in satelite systems you need to enter your SLD server info using transaction SLDAPICUST. Here you specify your Solution Manager system as host, user usually j2ee_admin and j2ee_admin's password. The alias can be anything and default port is 5<instance no>00.
Secondly, you test the connection with transaction SLDCHECK. If it's green it's OK, you can ignore most warning messages.
Then last you setup data collection and job scheduling and you do this in transaction RZ70.
Sorry don't have any reference to notes or documentation but each transaction above should make sense of what I mentioned.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Nelis

  • Solution Manager users consume a SAP Licence

    Hello
I've been working with customers with Solution Manager and  I got a very extrange question.   A company has got a restriction about the numbers of users that can be created in Solution Manager.  They were said that only users which have a SAP productive licence (ERP/CRM/SRM, etc.) are allowed to use Solution Manager.  So, they deleted all users which do not have a productive user.  So all the consultants now cannot use SolMan for the projects.
In my view, this totally wrong, since you want to have all your support team, and consultants working in projects, using Solution Manager as fundamental tool, an for sure, most of them will NOT have user in the productive system.
Do you have any clear statement somewhere in the Enterprise Support contract or somewhere else which clearly state that users in SolMan need to have a productive licence?  Is there any note, mail from SAP that say so?
    I appreciate your input.

    Hello,
I got an answer from some very knowledgeable person at SAP, responsible for Solution Manager:
    Hi Everyone:
The SAP Solution Manager is covered under the customeru2019s support agreement, so normally we have the customers address this with their account team if they have any questions.  There is more information in the solution manager homepage FAQ.   Note that all use of SAP Solution Manager is u201Ccoveredu201D by the customer agreement, including users.  The only exception is use of Service Desk for non-SAP components, in this case the account team can inquire if any additional licenses are required.

    2. What is the cost of installing SAP Solution Manager?
The following items regarding SAP Solution Manager are covered:
    The SAP Solution Manager Software.
The license for SAP Solution Manager Standard Edition.
The license for MaxDB (formerly known as SAP DB). If customers choose to use a different database, database license costs may apply depending on the customer's agreement with his database vendor.

    3. Which licenses do customers need for SAP Solution Manager?
To run SAP Solution Manager, customers need the following licenses:
    SAP Solution Manager

  • Ticket SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0

    Hi,
I want to migrate all tickets from SAP Solution Manager 7.0 to SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 , please let me know the procedure how to migrate it.
    DB Detail
    SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL( 9.00.4035)
SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 - MSSQL(10.00.2531)
    Thanks,
    Kaleel

    Dear Mohamed,
I was reading the post and the replies and while I think your question has been answered, I just want to make sure what you are trying to achieve. Is it a migration, where you have one Solution Manager system on SAP Solution Manager 7.0 and another
SAP Solution Manager EHP1 system and you were looking to migrate the Service Desk messages?
If you are "Upgrading" one system from Solution Manager 7.0 to  EHP1 then all the messages are preserved.
If you are "Migrating" to a physically different system, then transfer of Service Desk Messages is not supported.
Please see the document [SAP Solution Manger-  Conent Transfer|https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000608232009E]
Also Service Desk is a completely independent CRM Service, so the messages could always be archived, as has been suggested.
No depending on your scenario, is the EHP1 system brand new or is it already productive? If it was brand new, you might be able to do a homogenous system copy, and then upgrade the new system to EHP1. But if it is already productive, this would not be an option.
    Hope this helps to clarify.

  • BPC link with any other SAP products?

    Hi, Prakash
I am wondering how BPC communicate with any other SAP products? using RFC? Can we load the data from ECC into BPC?
    Thanks
    C.S.

    Hi Chimei,
We are currently going to kickstart our BPC project.
We went through the process of evaluating products which can help easy extraction of data from SAP products into Outlooksoft.
There is a company called ERPLink which has a product suite called iNet.BI which helps enable this. It is very inexpensive (17K for software with 17% annual maintenance charges). This product is SAP certified and has ability to read metadata from SAP modules. It can extract data from BW environments (Cubes, queries of ODS objects) and from R/3 environments (via ABAP report programs with their embedded macros & direct table views). From the product demo, the user interface seemed simplistic. The product is installed on the Outlooksoft environment and uses SQL*Server Information Services (DTS packages) to do the load from SAP source system to Outlooksoft.
You might want to consider this product as an alternative to Flat File loads.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connection XI - SLD - Solution Manager

    Hi everybody,
I am facing the following problem.
The SLD is installed in the Solution Manager Host. Solution Manager was installed before XI
was installed. So, the managing of the SLD is carried out in the SLD of the Solution
manager. However I can only import the objects from the SLD to the Integration Builder if I
create the objects in the Local SLD of the XI. How can I connect the XI system with the SLD
of the Solution Manager? I have the same problem with proxys in R/3 (SLDAPICUST).
So, Do I have to create the objects in SLD XI Host or by means of Solution Manager???
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Carlos

Depends on your version of SAP...
I would say yes to be on the safe side...
PI7.0 creates these entries but does not use them.
XI3.0 does (i think upto a certain patch level...).
This is always a useful tool...

I would like to connect the solution manager with a customer system via an exististing service connection, there is no solution manager installed on the customer's system. Is this possible? Is it possible to find any documentation about this?
    Regards,
    Britta

    Hello,
    You can run TCD DSWP
Then clcik the Solution Landscape button
Then Clcik the Service Connection link
Then click the Solution Manager drop down menu and select setup connection
    Then fill in the details:
    Product System
    Description
    Installation Number
    Systen ID
    System Number
    Service Connection type
The support Service Connection types are reference at http://service.sap.com/connectiontypes and for each connection type the corresponding Note is provided.
This setup will allow you to create service connections to OSS on Solution Manager
Once you have setup the connection you will still navigate to Service Connections, only you will use the Connection Drop down menu button to select Open Connection.

  • Solution Manager - Logical Component for SAP Netweaver EHP2

    Hello,
I installed the newest SAP Netweaver Ehp2 (with usage type AS ABAP only) for a future integrating with BI_CONT (SAP BI requirement). So... what I want to know is... I want to do an update of support packages to the latest Stack (SPS) and in this product version (NW EHP2) the latest stack is stack 06 !! But I ´m facing with a problem which is, because I have to maintain this system in Solution Manager (for Maintenance Optimizer activity)...so what I want is configure this new system on Solution Manager Ehp1 (with SPS 23) but in tcode SMSY I didn´t found this Product in Logical Components for I can apply this system to my Solution... I only see SAP Netweaver with EHP1 and not with EHP2 which is the version that I want to apply this new system. (This is mandatory task, because without it, I will not be able to download the support packages for NW 7.0 EHP2)
Tell me two things... first if this level version of Solution Manager that I have here (SPS 23) have this product in logical components, and two... if not it, is necessary to raise the level of Solution Manager support packages (to latest stack SPS 25) for I can see that logical component SAP Netweaver EHP2?!
    Thank you very much
    João Dimas - Portugal

    Hi João,
You can verify if the EHP2 is available (if) in your system, this can be done once you are in SMSY -> Product Definitions -> SAP Netweaver where you should able to see the EHP2. If so, then it's a matter of marking the leading Product & Product Version under the Header Data ->Change Product Assignment where you can use the drop down arrow to select the Product and Product Version. If it's not available, then by checking the 'Free Product / Select Product Version' then use the drop down arrow to select the product & Product Version, once you selected that then click on copy and mark that as active and save.
Then you need to create a new logical component in System Group & logical Component under SAP Netweaver, then assign the system to the logical component. Once this is done you can use the logical component in a solution and create a maintenance transaction.
I hope this help you to proceed further, thanks.

  • Solution Manager connection in Data Services

    Hi,
When trying to make a data store connection in Data Services to a Solution Manager system I get an error that there is no connection or my credential are wrong.
I can ping the system so there is a connection.
I can log in to the Solution Manager system via the GUI so the credentials are ok.
So far i have found out that the Data Store connection cannot connect to Solution Manager because it per default tries to connect to port number 3200 while the Solution Manager system default has port number 3300.
But i can't change / select port number in the Data Services data store connection. So what do i do?

There is a problem in the transport file supplied with BODS installation folder. Pls refer to the SAP Note :
1616269 - Problems when installing Data Services 4.0 SAP transport files (900155.R63)
We have used the new transport files but we are still getting the below warnings in the log files and it returned with return code 4 :
Maximum length ("255") for "CHAR" in transparent tables exceeded
The SAP Note 1446648 - Warning Messages installing SAP R3 transports for Data Services sayou can ignore those warnings but we are still not able to see the ZAW0 Function group in SE37.
Let me know if you are able to do it successfully.

  • Solution manager configuration for EHP4 install (Product Version Problem)

    Hi guys!
I'm new on SAP and SDN is a help all days and this time i really need some help from you guys!
Im installing EHP 4 and need the XML Stack file, so i go to the solution manager to generating them. But after configuring the logical components, make the associations, etc. on create maintenence transaction, the product version dropdownlist is empty...
It is configured but it dont appears... Anyone had this problem before and could give me some help!
    I will appreciate that!
    My regards,

    Hi,
In SMSY, the system should have product version as SAP ERP 6.0.
Next the logical component created for ECC Server should also reflect this version.
The solution you create in DWSP should include this logical component via the Solution Landscape definition. Here again the logical component should show the product version.
If all above are in place, the MOPZ for the respective solution should have the product version list populated.

  • Solution manager in Portal - com.sap.portal.epsolman.EPSolman

    Hi
I have implemented the standard Solution Manager reporting iView. When using this iView I often receive the error below.
The error occurs when the iView has been open for a while and fails when I try to submit.
I our DEV and QA environment it fails after about 8-10 minutes and in our prod it is more random like between 2- 7 minutes.
The oddest this is that the same error occurs when I use the Reset button.
First I thought it was a backend issue but when I fail as well when using the Reset button then I looks more like a Portal timeout issue.
Anyone has any ideas on how to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

  • Solution Manager 4.0 and SAP R3 4.7E - Business Process Repository Question

When I am in solution manager setting up my business processes (solar01) to select my logical component with the drop-down I do not see my SAP R3 ERP 4.7 system available for selection.  They do exist in my SLD (SMSY) and all the components with the 4.7 system.  Does anyone know why they are not showing up in the drop-down for business process repository selection help?
    Thanks
    Skip Ford

    Hi,
For how long the installation process has been running. Check the following.
    1. The virtual memory page size that you have assigned.
    2. The hard disk free space.
    3. The Virtual memory should be optimized size, should not be larger than the free space available.
    These are performance optimization settings.
I guess the installation would take around ten hours, I am not sure.
But one thing is sure <b>SAP</b> is not that bad to get aborted abruptly.
Keep Patience while installing. Before that take care that your system satisfies, requirements.
Hope I was clear. Feel free to get back, incase you face any problem.

  • Solution Manager to Solution Manager connection

    Hello everyone,
I am searching for an answer for such a question: is it possible to connect one SolMan (the one from the service provider) to another SolMan (customer's one) in a way that tickets would go from customer's ERP to their SolMan (as it is now) and afterwards would be automatically forwarded to the other SolMan where the tickets should be processed?
If you have any idea, experience or relevant document, please share it - I will be really grateful.
    Best regards,
    Katarzyna Klys

    Hi Katarzyna,
Please check the External service desk functionality for this. You can check SPRO entry for this:
SPRO --> SAP Reference IMG --> SAP Solution Manager Implementation Guide
--> SAP Solution Manager --> Scenario-Specific Settings --> Solution Manager - External Integration --> External Service Desk
    Also check below link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/8a/b0278648ac4f058a7111c3f9b60feb/frameset.htm
    (All in One line)
    In Solman 7.0 system:
    1. T-code SM59   > Define an RFC connection to 7.1 system;
    2. T-code ICTCONF   > Add an entry for the 7.1 service desk, specify the RFC Destination as the one you defined   > Activate -> Generate default value mapping (you may find the button on the top of ICTCONF).
    In Solman 7.1 system:
    1. T-code SM59   > Define an RFC connection to 7.0 system;
    2. T-code ICTCONF   > Add an entry for the 7.0 service desk, specify the RFC Destination as the one you defined   > Activate -> Generate default value mapping;
    3. Customize your own value mapping including the transaction type. You will find the details in:
IMG -> SAP Solution Manager -> Capabilities (Optional)
-> Application Incident Management (Service Desk)
-> External Integration -> External Service Desk
Most fields of SIVA and SMIV are the same (for example, priority) so you do not need to care about the value mapping if you do not havespecial requirement. However, some fields only exist in SIVA (category, subject) and others only exist in SMIV (multilevel categories). You may need to implement your own code according to your requirement.

  • How the solution manager is realated to SAP BW

    Hi experts!
Well!! I have been given a task to work on solution manager 4.0 and make it useful for SAP BI.
so I have a few questions.
    1) Does basis person look after the config and authorizations?
    2) I have been told to include the system change request ( SCR), Help desk issues into the  solution manager... so how can I get that.
    3) where my role starts exactly, I mean after connecting SAP BI to Solution manager,I guess this is done by BASIS person.
Points will be rewarded to the helpful replies... thanks in advance.

    Hi Abass,
To answer few of ur questions,
    2) you need to configure the Solution manager tool with the BI system when a ticket is raised or a change is triggered. These things will be monitored by a help desk or service desk person or a BI expersie person.
I guess your role is to implement this in ur org that means you need to create from basics such as creating business partners etc

  • Why NWA/SLD/ Solution manager redundancy

I am just curious why systems like SLD and Solution manager both contain the same information? Like systems, software componenets etc.
Another question, I was just reading the docs for NWA administrator and I see that they are suggesting to do some ccms monitoring through NWA. Doesnt solution manager do this already? How many places are there to do monitoring, which ones are best???
Does anyone have Project experience and best practices for this?
    Thanks

    Hello Jeremy,
please note that Solution Manager its own landscape information (tcode SYMSY), which can also be synchronized with the SLD.
Solution Manager is just another display option for monitoring data. The actual monitoring data is retrieved by the CCMS monitoring infrastructure, which is also used by the NWA.
Java-only monitoring data is also retrieved by NWA via JMX. Even in a Java-only landscape, you must have a double-stack system as central system in order to display availability data provided by the CCMSPING agent.
To monitor an ABAP-only landscape, you do not need NWA for the time being.
To monitor a "mixed" landscape, you should use NWA on a double-stack system.
For more information, you can use the following quick links in the SAP Service Marketplace: /nwa, /monitoring and /javamonitoring.

    Dieter
