Slider (or Slideshow)

I am trying to create a site for a friend.  Yesterday I added a Slideshow to one of her pages.  (She has several photos and we thought rather then placing each seprately on the page, a Slideshow would be a better option.  Look cleaner and take up much less space.)
Can you all help me with changing some of the coding?  I've worked at it, and tried several things, but I simply do not have the NEEDED knowledge to fix it myself.  (I'm not getting anywhere.)
I added this HTML coding (http://www.angelfire.com/nm/thehtmlsource/jazzup/javascript/slideshow.html).  I thought, for me, it looked/seemed fairly simple.  And it is.  However it lacks some coding I would like it to have, and so I'm not completely happy with it.
First, it requires all information, that she wants to add to the photos, to be added directly to the image itself before uploading.  This would be okay for some.  But on others I either don't have the needed room for the text...OR...on larger photos, when resizing is done, it then makes it too small to read.
And the second fault I find with it is, it doesn't accomodate/adjust to the varying sizes of the photos.
Here is the temporary site in my webspace (http://pointheavenwardsiamese.com/GeishagollSiamese/scrapbook.php)  One image is okay and the othes are distorted either minimally...or...a LOT.
Can you help me either by fixing what I currently am using...or offer another option in HTML that has the features I am needing/wanting?
I would like it to be able to handle different sizes of images.  I would also like it to have the feature of adding text below each image (so I do not have to do it directly to each photo in Paint).  I want it "fading" (no flipping, twisting, falling apart, scrolling down, etc.).  Able to add any amount of images.  And because of my skill level...SIMPLE.
Thank you all so much for your help.
It is greatly appreciated.
Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!!
Melody

Thank you Nancy for that link.
I don't have a separate style sheet.  I know that is the wrong way to do website building...but my css is in with my HTML.
I didn't do something right as it didn't work.  I'm thinking that I don't have my body.  a. class tag in the right place.
If there is someone out there that has a sit-down-minute, and wouldn't mind looking through my coding...I sure would appreciate it.  Tell me where I did wrong.

  • How to create buttons for each slide in slideshow

I currently have a slideshow working with prev and next buttons,
but would like to add numbered buttons for each slide at bottom of images,
with a static number for the active slide that has a colored circle around that number.
I can create static number with colored circle in Photoshop and add that to a layer,
but it's labor intensive to do that for all numbers.
Is there a better way to create the highlighted numbers for active slide?
For numbered buttons that link to non-active slides, I can create numbers in Photoshop and import images into Flash,
then convert to symbols and assign actions for them,
But that too is labor intensive to do for all the numbers.
Is there a better way to create numbered buttons for non-active slides?
I'd also like to have a hover function on the numbered buttons,
that changes from plain image of number to number with colored circle like I want to use for active slide.
How do I assign a hover function to button symbol, that will load another image or symbol?

Try to think in terms of having reusable symbols.  Think it thru before you try it.
Use a movieclip symbol instead of a button.  Have a dynamic textfield in that movieclip for the number, and set the textfield to not be selectable.  Have one frame of this movieclip where it displays as the highlighted (selected) one and have the movieclip go there where you are on that slide.
Use the textfield for the number--assign it dynamically so that you don't have to import an image for it.  Use as many of these movieclips as you need to for all your buttons.
Have functions that reset all the buttons at once so that when you move to a new slide, the previously selected one goes back to mormal... follow that with setting the newly selected one to be in its "selected" frame.

  • How do I add text to individual slides in slideshow to make a caption?

How do I add text to individual slides in a slideshow in order to make a caption on each slide?

It will depend on the theme you are using for the slide show.
For some themes you can add custom text or metadata to the slide as captions, for example the "Classic" theme.  Use the "Selected Slides" tab and enable "Text".

  • Creating blank slide in slideshow

Is there a way to create a blank slide for a slideshow in iPhoto? A few weeks ago, Old Toad made a reference to doing this for his slideshows, but I wasn't sure if this was an option available just in iDVD.

Use an application that will let you give the background a color if you don't want a blank white slide. Any freeware image editor can create a new, blank canvas of any size you decide and can add color to it before saving as a jpg. A couple are Acorn and Seaside. Some text editors will also let you change the background color. The the print to pdf method that Terence mentioned will get you want you want. You can even create title slides that way.

  • Blank slides in slideshow

I am using photoshop elements 5 to make a slide show.  After previewing it there were many RANDOM slides where the picture was no longer there, just a COMPLETELY BLACK SLIDE.  How do I recover these? I spent a lot of time doing this and someone needs it asap.  I cannot possibly remember which pictures were in all of the spots. please help....thanks!

When you save the slideshow, you are saving the current timeline edits, the images are not saved into the slideshow (just like they are not saved into the Organizer). Your slideshow is not made permanent until it has been exported as a video file or PDF.
The slideshow is part of the Organizer catalog (the database that keeps track of your files). You can sent your catalog from one version of Elements to another (as long as that other version is newer that where it is coming from). In the new version, go to File > Catalog and click the Convert button. You will be given a list of catalogs (if more than one is available). Select the one you want and convert it. This will bring the database (which includes your images and slideshows) into the new version.
Please take a look at this document for more information: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/common-catalog-issues-upgrade-elements.html

  • Timing of slides in slideshow. Change?

In slideshow how can I change the timing of each slide. In the mac version I can fit to music or play any slide at pretty much any seconds intervals I want. I cannot figure this out on the IOS version for my iPad.

No can do in iPhoto for iOS. It's a bummer.

  • Linking to specific slides in slideshow widget.

Is it possible to link to a specific slide in a slideshow from elsewhere on the site? Thanks

    Hi
Unfortunately that is not possible, you can link to pages, images, or type of files, but not to a specific slide in a slideshow.

  • How do you set the End Action on last slide of slideshow

    Encore DVD CS3.
I must be the village idiot. I have setup a slideshow with manual advance. I cannot find a way to set the end action for the last slide. When I click on the last slide in the slideshow timeline there is no option that I can find for end action. When I preview the slideshow the last slide goes to black. I set the manual advance for all slides. There is several mentions of end action but no info on how to do it.
    Appreciate advice. Very frustrating.
    Clif
BTW Why are there no reference books for Encore CS3? It seems very strange. It has been out for a while but NO books.

Thank you for your help. I did what you said but the last slide still goes to black. The last slide also ignores the "manual Advance" and goes to black.
I highlighted the slideshow timeline in the project window and set end action on the properties panel on the right to the slideshow itself. But the last slide quickly goes to black. Each slide except the last one has a box in the upper right corner indicating a cross dissolve transition. I set the slide duration to "manual advance" for the whole slideshow. I feel like an idiot but nothing seems to change the end action of the slideshow or the last slide. Always cuts to black and stops.

  • Can I create iWeb hyperlinks from individual slides in slideshow?

I have made a slideshow in iPhoto and dragged it onto my iWeb homepage.   I now want to make links between each individual slide and one of my pages.  Is this possible.  When I click the link icon in the inspector the slides on the slideshow will not highlight to allow links to be made.  Is there another way to do this? Thanks.

I don't know about the iWeb slideshow as I don't use it but there are lots of choices for a banner/slideshow that will do what you want...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Action-Banner.html
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Conveyor-Belt.html
The JQuery Anything slider will do a lot more than most. You can add text, links and movies as slides...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Banner-Slideshow/Anything-JQuery-Slider.html
I haven't seen anybody do that with the iWeb slideshow - yet!
Wow, Nivo and Galleria, shown on subsequent pages, can all be adapted to use hyperlinks.

  • Pesky WHITE SCREEN in between Slides during Slideshow

    Hi,
So i set up a presentation and to view my work i'll go to Slideshow and it appears like this...
    Click Spacebar - White screen
    Click Spacebar - Slide 1
    Click Spacebar - White screen
    Click Spacebar - Slide 2
    Click Spacebar - White screen
    Click Spacebar - Slide 3
Basically there's a blank screen in between my slides! Is this a setting that can be turned off? The tutorial videos i've watched never have this pesky white screen.
    How do I fix this?
    R

Ok, I know this is an older post, but for those of you, like me, who ran into to the same issue and ran across this post, here is the answer.
The flashing is caused by PPT slide transitions.  Highlight all your slides, right click, select None for transitions and re-import.
    **sigh** lessons learned.

  • Moving multiple slides in slideshow editor

I am creating a slideshow with Photoshop Elements and I have hundreds of slides imported into the slideshow.
My question is how can I move more than one slide at a time. I have tried Ctrl, cut, paste and it will only move one slide at a time. I have whole groups of pictures that I need to reorder. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

My first conclusion is that making a WMV file is better choice now because you seem to be short on time and short on hard drive space. In the Output command parameters to save as a WMV file, I would choose the largest dimension choice (on your system it may be 800x600).
However be aware that making a WMV file will still take a long time for that many slides from high resolution photos. And we will not know if you have sufficient disk space until you try.
--What is the total size of this hard drive that has only 11% free?
Yes, do work on freeing up more space.
Making a video DVD would take more time, additional software and probably more disk space during the process of making the DVD. That is why I do not recommend it for you now. It could be done later when you are under less time pressure.
PDF slide shows have the following limitations
-- can not use pan and zoom on the slides
-- can not effectively time the music or other audio to specific slides
-- not all transitions are available
So unless you can not successfully make a WMV file, I doubt that a PDF file is your best choice.

  • Reversing Order of Slides in Slideshow

We were finalizing a slideshow and went into Settings and must have accidentally clicked some shortcut - our entire 124 slide slideshow reversed in order.
Does anyone know what happened? More important, how can we reverse this?
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Select all of the photos in the top tray in the slideshow mode and then drag the first slide to the end of the tray and that will reverse the order.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Want single photo instead of double photo on slide in slideshow

    Hi
I'm making a slideshow of photos from a recent holiday and I'm using the Vintage Prints theme. On some slides of the slideshow there are two photos but on some there is only the single photo. There are certain photos that I would like to be on a slide on their own and I was wondering if there was any way to make iPhoto put these photos on a slide by themselves.
    Thanks
    Nick

You can't change how the theme groups photos.  If you want just one photo per slide use the Classic theme. Some of the other themes use just one photo per slide, like the Ken Burns theme, so test each to see which might be a good replacement for the Vintage theme.
Or you could use a 3rd party slideshow application like PhotoPresenter.  It contains over 25 animated themes, some of which are demonstrated on this web page: PhotoPresenter Themes

  • Keynote - stabilising synchronised music and slides in slideshow

I have made a self-playing Keynote slideshow with a (GarageBand) music track on loop.  Although I have timed it, tried it for synchronising image and music, saved it exactly as I want it, it seems impossible to keep this synchronisation on playback.  Images may appear early or late in relation to the music, which spoils the effects I'm looking for.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can remedy this?  I have tried recording, with voiceover on mute, and saving as a QuickTime movie, but this may still not preserve synchronisation;  besides, the movie is jerky on dissolve and animations.  Looking forward to a resolution.  Thanks.

Gary, many thanks for your prompt reply and the advice, which I shall certainly try.  You might have thought, though, that music (timed) and slideshow (timed) starting at precisely the same time and running simultaneously would have kept up with each other.  There is no guarantee, it seems to me, that pprecisely the same timings for slides and soundtrack will prevent drift in the middle, but I do feel that your advice is definitely good.
My camera club colleagues are hugely impressed with my Keynote presentations and several have been switching from PC to Mac.  (They obviously don't know what they can do with PowerPoint).  Come on Apple, what about integrating iPhoto and Keynote?  Or introducing synchronisation?  It so happens that I have been using Apple computers since before there were Macs, and have always used Macs, and am unlikely to change now, but it would be nice to have a complete package instead of something being kept back for an upgrade to generate further Apple income.  I know it's a business, and that everybody's at it, but here's an opportunity for a USP. Apple has already had quite enough of my money!
Again, thanks.  I am assuming that this is the answer to my query.

  • First slide on slideshow from an event pictures

I created a slideshow from event pictures, the first slide of the slideshow is not the first picture of the event and I can not change it.
How can I change the first slide of an event on a slideshow?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Make a album of the event so you can arrange the photos manually in the order you'd like. You can also save the slideshow settings to that album so you don't need to reset them if you use that album again in the future.

  • Slides in slideshow are fuzzy

When I view my slides in Organizer, they are sharp. When I assemble the same slides into a slideshow, the images are fuzzy and indistinct. What am I doing wrong?

The Video CD format that Photoshop Elements uses to burn a slide show to a CD disc in a video format is low resolution. It is the characteristic of that format that it is low resolution. This has been true for Photoshop Elements 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 as well as the predecessor Photoshop Album 1 and 2. You can not fix this.
Especially if you plan to play back your slide show on a large size TV screen or a high resolution computer monitor: you need to use a different output format and in many cases you must choose additional or different software to make your slide show.
There are a few possibilities if you have only Photoshop Elements; however, many people will either not have the necessary hardware or will wish to share with others by sending them a disc to play on the recipients TV. Therefore, many people can not choose these options.
1 -- If you will play back only on a computer, you can investigate using the PSE slide show Output command to make a WMV file output at a higher resolution.
2 -- If you have a Media Center computer connected to a TV or an HDMI connection from computer to TV, you may be able to play a similar WMV output file on your TV.
On the subject of other software :
1 -- Adobe offers Premiere Elements (which is basically video software) for making TV playable slide shows burned to a DVD disc (so you must have a DVD burner hardware also).
2 -- Many people have instead chosen to use ProShow Gold, which does have multiple output formats that are higher resolution and therefore can produce higher quality images on computer monitors and large screen TVs.
