Slides or Elements of slides missing

Hi -- I'm VERY FRUSTRATED! I've been using Captivate for
years now --- I just upgraded my machine to a top of the line model
running Vista. Because of this, I'm using the trial version of
Captivate 3 (my old-reliable Captivate 1 doesn't record audio with
Vista).
Anyways, I have quite a simple project that I thought would
only take a few hours --- going on 2 weeks now! I finally finished
the project and went to preview it ---- whole slides or elements of
the slides are simply missing -- white screen. On those slides that
have audio, I can hear the audio, just can't see what I want to see
on screen.
What makes it frustrating is that in "storyboard" mode,
everything looks perfect. For this project, I needed to work in
that mode. When I move to "edit" mode, the slides have the elements
missing just like when published. As an additional frustration,
often in "edit" mode, the preview doesn't show the slide I have
selected, but often the next slide. This makes it hard to replace
the slides I would like to.
Can anyone help? My client is irritated it's taking so long!

Welcome to our community, Dan
If this is only happening during preview, my guess is that
you have Flash Player 10 installed. It should publish just fine if
this is the case. What happens if you preview in the browser?

    I am attempting to create a slide show and upload it to my web site. I follow step by step creation the show. Choose a template and export to FTP. The recommended upload address ftp.mydomain.com ( I do enter my actual domain name ) does not work. The message I get is “resolve FTP server address. I then tried the ftp address I use to upload changes to my site from Microsoft Expression 4, ftp://www.mydomain.com. That also does not work. I have attempted several versions with no luck. What am I missing?

    I have no problem uploading changes to my web site using ftp://www.mysite.com . I have been doing that for several years. It is only in PSE that I am having a problem. I have tried several versions of the FTP upload address beginning with the PSE recommended ftp.mysite.com and ending with the one I normally use.

    Start by placing the images in an Album. Then select Album Order.
    You can drag the photos into order and they then remain fixed.
    Use the Album as a basis for the slideshow.

    I downloaded a m4a audio format from iTunes and my elements 9 slide show can't read it.  What is the best solution to convert to an mp3 format that the slide show can use?  I'm running windows 7.

  • Elements 4 Slide Show Ordering Prints Online

    The PDF slide show can be stopped by pressing ESC. This takes Adobe Viewer out of Full Screen mode, letting people look at the slides one-by-one. Select and copy slides or areas of slides to the clipboard, etc. Nice. (It doesn't stop the music, though.)
    Also it gives access to Adobe Viewer's Picture Tasks. When I try to Order Prints Online, an Online Services Wizard starts up, showing Adobe Photoshop Services as the provider of services. The Next button is grayed out, and nothing I can do seems to fix it.
    Online Help isn't real great, but it says "The template you use to create the project determines what online service providers are available." There are vague references to older versions of Photoshop Elements.
    Questions:
    1) Why can't I order prints online?
    2) What's this templates business?

    Yep, I know this is user-to-user. I've gotten very good answers here, too.
    I experimented with the "slide resolution" (or whatever the name of it is). There wasn't much difference in file size between 800x600 and 1024x768, and I couldn't see much difference on the screen. Fonts seemed less jazzy with 1024x768, but it wasn't night and day.
    File size ballooned when I went to the next higher resolution. I think the visual quality improved, too, but I can't be sure.
    Looks like the higer resolution settings might be good if one distributed the slide show on CD.

    When I add media to elements 9 slide show, some of the pictures are cropped at top and bottom.  The pics show fine in organizer.  How do I get the complete pic added to slide show?

    When you select the image in slide area, the right panel shows two options- Crop to Fit or Fit to Slide. Try these options. The following screenshot shows the difference for an image when one of the two options are selected.

    AAC is Advanced Audio Coding.  Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD).  More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder).  Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
    You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button.  Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder.  After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version."  You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding.  Hopefully your phone will play that.

  • Elements 10 Slide Show worked, but now freezes

    I created three Slideshows yesterday with no problem:
    1) Within Elements 10, click on Organizer (top right)
    2) Drag and drop photos to large Organizer window
    3) Click on Create tab, then Slide Show
    4) In Slide Show Preferences, make changes and click OK
    5) In Slide Show Editor, edit files as needed, then Save Project
    6) Output file as .wmv
    Now, after step 4 (and after the editor opens) it locks up.  I can't click on anything and its clear that's it's frozen as anytime I do click on something, Windows gives me the little 'ding' sound to indicate nothing is active.  The only way I can close it is through Windows  task manager - End Process.
    As a test of the photo quantity/size (19 total at 1727x12256 pixels each) I was able to create a photo collage, photo book and photo calendar.  I did try less images (2) as well as reduced size but it still didn't work. 
    Any idea how I can get it to work again?  Do I need to reinstall?

    Please rename the following files at the location %appdata%\adobe\elements organizer\10.0\organizer
    psa.prf -> rename to say, psa.prf.old
    slideshow.dat -> rename to say, slideshow.dat.old
    status.dat -> rename to say, status.dat.old
    Can you please try creating a test slideshow with say just one or two files, this time by launching Organizer with Admin rights. Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer and Run As Admin the exe "PhotoshopElementsOrganizer".

    When you installed version 10 did you convert your previous catalog?
    If so, your projects should appear in the PSE10 Organizer. To search for them type PSESS into the search box.
    You should then be able to open the project by double clicking on  its thumbnail.
    Then choose Output >> Edit in Premier Elements

  • Trying to jump back to a previous slide if a question is missed

    This is just the first of many questions I'm gonig to have, but the one that's bugging me the most right now.
    I'm running Captivate 6 (32 bit) and I am trying to have a sort of review section after each portion of my training video.  What I want is for the person answering the questions in the review section to have three chances to answer the question.  If they get it wrong 4 times, I want the project to jump back to the slide the information they didn't retain was on.  I would also like to make it to where, on second viewing of this slide, they can return to the quiz question.  I'm assuming this would require making a new, hidden slide? 
    Thank you anyone for your help.  I'm going on a five day vacation in about 15 minutes, so I may not check on this right away, but please know that finally getting this to work is going to absolutely make what is sure to be a miserable Monday .  Happy holidays for those in the states!

    Quiz Section A - 3 attempts
    Quiz Section B - 3 attempts
    Quiz Section c- 3 attempts
    on first time  you want normal flow mentioned above and if suppose user has failed quiz section A , he/she should go to Content section A and then directly jump to quiz section A rather than going to other section.
    To achieve this define a user variable a, assign default value =0, now on the last content slide of particular section you have to set on exit action -> execute conditional advance action
    if a=0 then continue else 'Return to Quiz'
    now on quiz section A you have to set success failure actions:
    Success -> Assisn a = 0;
    Failure-> Execute advance action ( Assign a=1 and Jump to respective content slide.)

    I'm working in a slide that I want to reuse as a Master Slide. The only way I was able to do that is to make a new master and recreate every element on my slide. It even didn't allow me to copy&paste stuff from the slide to the master.
    What I am looking is to paste the style in a slide to the master slide
    Is this possible?

    Try showing master slides ( view > show master slides) and right click on one, if an option popup doesnt show,  you will need to reset keynote:
    software maintenance:
    delete keynote from applications folder
    delete Keynote preference file (com.apple.iwork.Keynote) located: users > home > library > preferences
    shut down the Mac
    start the Mac again and press the shift key untill the grey apple appears
    let the Mac run untill the desktop appears, this will take longer than usual, its repairing your software
    repair permissions:        Applications folder > Utilities > Disk Utility;
                 click on the system disc in left pane > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
       7.   restart when completed

    Hi, I want to make slideshow for presentation. And I want to know how can I make this slide.
    For example in this picture, have 1 main slide and 6 sub slides. I want to make slide like this, and all slides should be in one slide. And I want to zoom in to sub slide when I click and then zoom out when I click one more. And then second slide should be zoom in when I click and zoom out when I click again. And then slide 3 etc.
    I want to know how can I do this.

    There are two ways to do this.
    1. Duplicate the main or first slide numerous times - as many as you'll need for the show, which looks like 6 including the first "overview slide".
    2. You know have two choices - either use the Magic Move transition between the first slide and the next, which has the main box centre screen and enlarged proportionally.
    3. Or enlarge the slides so that the main point is central, but use hyperlinks to move between the slides. This also gives you the liberty of changing the order spontaneously should the situation demand. Using the main first slide, place an invisible box around each element and use a link to move to that slide which is enlarged. Then you have to decide if you will come back each time to slide 1 (the overview) by having the whole slide hyperlinked to slide 1, or the whole slide linked to the next slide. That way you don't have to go looking for the hyperlink area.
    The Magic Move effect will give your presentation a "Prezi" like effect, while the hyperlinked version I've described will just use gentle dissolves between each slide.
    I will sometimes use 3 because I want to encourage audience participation and let them choose where to go next... e.g., the various elements of a 747 wing assembly, or the interior of a large cruise ship, showing state rooms, dining, pool area, ballroom, etc.

    If you add a new  slide with just a text box (therefore a very small amount of data),  to an existing presentation then save,  Keynote will only save the new content to the file,  it wont save  pre-existing content as its already included in the file.
    The time  taken to "save" will be very much shorter than a "save as" when all of the existing content is saved again.

    I believe that you end up with a single file that you can use. Once you get that created, it's an audio file in the library. You may then add the audio file to another slide or object by looking in the Library after choosing to add audio.
