Elements 4 Slide Show Ordering Prints Online

The PDF slide show can be stopped by pressing ESC. This takes Adobe Viewer out of Full Screen mode, letting people look at the slides one-by-one. Select and copy slides or areas of slides to the clipboard, etc. Nice. (It doesn't stop the music, though.)
Also it gives access to Adobe Viewer's Picture Tasks. When I try to Order Prints Online, an Online Services Wizard starts up, showing Adobe Photoshop Services as the provider of services. The Next button is grayed out, and nothing I can do seems to fix it.
Online Help isn't real great, but it says "The template you use to create the project determines what online service providers are available." There are vague references to older versions of Photoshop Elements.
Questions:
1) Why can't I order prints online?
2) What's this templates business?

Yep, I know this is user-to-user. I've gotten very good answers here, too.
I experimented with the "slide resolution" (or whatever the name of it is). There wasn't much difference in file size between 800x600 and 1024x768, and I couldn't see much difference on the screen. Fonts seemed less jazzy with 1024x768, but it wasn't night and day.
File size ballooned when I went to the next higher resolution. I think the visual quality improved, too, but I can't be sure.
Looks like the higer resolution settings might be good if one distributed the slide show on CD.

  • Is Copy Paste Pans & Zooms Possible in Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor Slideshow?

In the Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor, someone wants to create a unique pan and zoom effect for one photo and be able to apply it the the rest of the photos in the Filmstrip without having to do that on an individual photo basis.
In the Slide Show Editor, Edit Menu/Apply Pan & Zoom to All Slides or Apply Pan & Zoom to Selected Slide(s) does not get the job done. Instead it looks like it just applies the default Photoshop Elements pan and zoom. I have investigated several routes to the goal unsuccesful and have concluded that Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor offers no such copy paste pans & zoom feature.
I have detailed how to add more than one pan & zoom per slide, how to get the pan & zoom copy/paste job done in Premiere Elements, either doing all the pan & zoom in Premiere Elements or creating the pan & zoom in Photoshop Elements for one slide, using Send to Premiere Elements, Break Apart Adobe Photoshop Elements Slideshow, copy/paste of the transferred pan & zoom. Believe it or not, that does work. I know that there will be skeptics who feel that the pan & zoom timing would be distored, but....This person does not have or want Premiere Elements in the equation. So, I am looking for a way out for her.
I am posting the question here for someone to confirm my conclusion or offer a way that has escaped me. If someone has found a way, he/she will be fully created for the contribution and thanked.

  • SLIDE SHOW ORDER

I cannot get ATV2 to display the slides in my album in the order they are in the album.  IT goes along for a while in order, the reverts back to earlier slides. After a while it will resume later on in the order?   It may be my imigination, but when it reverts to earlier slides/plays for example 5 ealrier slides, when it resumes in order, it seems to have skipped 5 slides?   I just want the slides to play in order........

    Hi Old Toad,
In anything other than a slide show (main library, albums and smart albums), I can change the display direction. The option to change display order from ascending to descending, however, is grayed out in the slide show so I can't change it. Plus, even if the album is sorted by descending order, iPhoto, when it creates a slide show from the album, automatically sorts it in ascending order. I'm thinking it's a bug.

I had been working on the Premiere Elements 13 Windows tryout, trying to cover as much as possible. The tryout has expired. I should have the purchased version by the end of the week.
Elements Organizer 13 is a "new breed" of Elements Organizer along with it "Slideshow".
You say that you have created your slideshow (presumed with one of its 5 themes) and saved it as an Elements Organizer 13 Slides Show Project.
From that point on, this is my take on this which I will confirm again later in the week when I have the purchased version...
    a. The Slide Show Project is a creation of the Elements Organizer 13 and remains in the catalog, available for re-edit (limited).
    b. The only way out of the Elements Organizer 13 for this created slideshow is Export to yield an AVCHD.mp4 file either 720p30 or 1080p30 which
is saved to the computer hard drive.
    c. It is those AVCHD.mp4 files that can be imported into a Premiere Elements project with Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets.
    d. I do not recall there being a viable opportunity to use the Slide Show Project thumbnail in the Elements Organizer 13 workspace for a Share/Burn Video DVD or Blu-ray.

  • Ordering Prints Online with Embedded Color Profiles

Problem: I have imported about 100 photos into iPhoto (7.1.1) that have embedded ProPhoto RGB profiles. When Ordering Prints (from Apple/Kodak) online, the prints delivered were horribly desaturated. After research, discovered that the ProPhoto RGB (which is really high-end professional color space, even bigger than Adobe RGB) is not compatible with sRGB printing services. Essentially, sRGB is a much smaller color space and color is lost in process. What's the best way to resolve this?

    Ruzicka:
There's an AppleScript to embed the color profile of your choice in selected files. I've modified it to embed the sRGB profile it's available at Toad's Cellar. It's the Applescript version, not the automator version. The automator version adds some jpeg compression in it's process. The script method does not.
Or, you could use Photoshop and create an action to batch convert the files to the sRGB profile. I've used PS but not the batch process. GraphicConverter may be be able to convert them but I've not used it.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photoshop Elements 4 Slide Show Tips

I just spent a weekend making five slide shows with Photoshop Elements 4. I made PDF files and DVDs from all of them, and I experimented extensively. Here are some things I learned:
Making a slide show in Elements 4 is simple and reasonably intuitive, especially if you are familiar with the Organizer. If youre not familiar with the Organizer, making a slide show gives you a good opportunity to become so. Its worth it.
As with any computer task, theres a learning curve associated with making slide shows, but its a worthwhile curve to climb up. Once youre familiar with making slide shows, making new ones is easy, fun, and very productive.
Elements 4 lets you output slide shows as PDF files (.PDF) or Movie Files (.WMV).
When one of the PDF files is viewed on a computer with Adobe Viewer 7.0, the show is animated in accordance with the timing set up in Elements 4. When watching a slide show, the user can press ESC to stop the viewer from stepping through the slides. This enables navigation buttons that can be used to move from slide to slide. In this mode, Adobe Viewers Picture Tasks Menu, Select Tool, and Snapshot Tool can be used to process individual images. Some of the possible actions are selecting and copying all or part of the image, printing it, and even ordering prints online. These are excellent features, but not obvious to everyone, so you should tell your audience about them.
You can view the WMV files on Windows Media Player or whatever multimedia software you use. If you have a DVD burner and simple DVD creation software, you can easily convert the WMV files to DVDs.
There are some pros and cons of each of the three formats:
PDF can be played on any computer with Adobe viewer. Sound track can be unstable. Can't see pan & zoom. CAN copy and process individual images IF you have Adobe Viewer 7.
WMV can be played on any computer with Windows Media Player or similar. Sound track can be unstable. CAN see pan & zoom, which are excellent slide show features (try them). Can't copy images locally.
    You can make a
DVD from WMV files. It has stable audio and shows pan & zoom, but resolution is lower than the other two.
In a few hours (from 12/5/05 AM), you can download PDF versions of my slide shows from the reunions page at www.ussrankin.org. The BANQUET one has the most features.

    Louis,
I hope you are happy with the decision to go with the Sony package. I really like the flexibility of both programs.
I'd be happy to answer some questions. I changed my Adobe forum profile so that you can see my e-mail address. I'll leave it on there for a day or so.
Have you tried the Sony website and forums?
    http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/forums/default.asp
I have always found them helpful, much like this one.
I have to admit that my skills on DVD Architect Studio 3 are not as good as they are on Movie Studio 6. I cut my teeth on the first full blown version of DVD Architect [1.0]. DVD Architect Studio has so many more features and flexibility, it is amazing. The only bad thing about DVD Architect Studio that I can see is that it won't encode the audio in Dolby AC-3 format, which is the preferred format. If you use the audio defaults in the program, however, you will be fine unless you are trying to cram more than 60 minutes worth of stuff onto the DVD. Personally, I think that is bad practice anyway, because who wants to watch an hour of your slideshows!

  • Order prints from other online sources

I usually order prints online with Costco.com and then pick them up at a nearby store in an hour. If I organize my pictures in Photoshop Elements 4.0, is there a way to upload the ones I want so I can order them at Costco (instead of the preloaded Kodak website)? If not, then what is the easiest way to organize so that my pictures in my Windows XP "My pictures" folder contains the same information to sort & choose which pictures to print? (like tags, etc.) I like the tags and organization tools which will help me figure out which pictures I want to print. (FYI when you order online at Costco, you have to upload the pictures you want printed) Many thanks for any suggestions.

    Kathy,
I use a method similar to Trish. I have a tag called "get prints" and one called "already printed." I just put the "get prints" on the appropriate pictures in the Organizer.
When I am ready to upload, I just select the tag, then select all the photos that pop up in the Organizer with that tag. I right click on the photos and select copy. Then I go to a folder on my desktop and paste there. This makes a copy of those pictures in the new folder, as Trish said above.
I then go back to the organizer and place the "already printed" tag on those pictures I just copied. THEN I remove the "get prints" tag (putting "already printed" on them first is important"). After I upload to the print site online, I can empty out the folder on my desktop to save space.
This way I keep track of those I already printed so I don't pay for 5 prints I didn't want just because I keep running across the picture.

  • Create Slide Show

I am using PE Ver 9. When I create a slide show, I select "Include Photo Captions as Text", but the text does not appear. The very first time I tried this it worked, but not since. Also, is there a way to control the text size and font for the captions in a slide show? I also have trouble with the way a slide show orders my files. I have named them in such a way that they sort properly when sorted by name in Windows Explorer. When I create a slide show, the slides are not in the same order. Do I need to rename all the files to get the sort order I want?

I'm not sure why your captions are not showing up. How are you adding the captions to your images?
Yes, you can change the size, font, color, an several other characteristics of the caption text. Simply click the text to select it and you will have options under the Properties panel on the right. If you are asking if there is a way to change them in bulk, I'm afraid the answer is no.
The slides will appear in the order that they are displayed in the Elements Organizer. It does not look at the order of the files in Windows Explorer, nor does it depend on the names of the files. The Organizer displays images based upon the age of the image, oldest or newest first. If you click the Display button in the upper right, you can switch to Folder Location view, which will put the images in alphabetical order. The down side to this is you can only see the images from a single folder at a time. So if your images are in multiple folders, this will only get you part of the way. You can also create an Album, which allows you to customize the order of images anyway you want, but it all has to be done by hand.

    Thank you.
You say that you do not have a DVD burner on your PC - so please explain in some detail how you plan to use the DVD player for your TV. For example, does your DVD player for the TV have a slot where you can insert a USB device? What is the make and model of the DVD player machine? Or did you mean that you will use DVD player software with your computer connected to your TV?
Movie Maker - you don't need a DV camera : you can output a WMV file from Movie Maker just as you can from the Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor.  The dilemma seems to be that neither of these programs will produce a video DVD conforming output.
Here are some ideas that I was developing - however, we do need to understand what type of output you have the capability to play in order to determine what will help for your specific situation:
I was thinking that an approach might be to make each section of slide show in PSE Slide Show Editor and separately output each as a separate WMV file. Then use Windows Movie Maker and layout sections of the slide show with your video files in between the slide show sections as you wish.  Then you could output a single wmv file from Windows Movie Maker.  Another alternative would be to do everything in Windows Movie Maker and not use the PSE slide show editor at all.

  • PSE 8 Slide show audio problem

I am in the process of editing my slide show. I downloaded some MP3 files and when I try to add them, I get a error message.
"Unable to add the audio file ..............."
"The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (codec) installed"
Whats going on? The downloaded files are in the same directory as some older mp3 files .....the older files work and will install in the slide show. The newer ones will not.
    Any advice?

Well ..... I solved it myself.  By using itunes I converted the mp3 files to wav files. Why these particular mp3 files would not import into the Elements slide show editor ..........I do not understand. Anyway...problem solved....for now

  • Pse 7 slide show

    Hello
Is it possible in pse 7 slide show to bring in more than one photo per screen shot ie like picture of Mom and Dad and then bring in smaller photo's of children on same slide.
    Roxy

    >Is it possible in pse 7 slide show to bring in more than one photo per screen shot ie like picture of Mom and Dad and then bring in smaller photo's of children on same slide.
I suggest that you use the Photoshop Elements editor to make whatever "composite" photo you wish and then you can use that "composite" photo file for the slide in the PSE 7 slide show.
However, if your intent is to display first the picture of Mom and Dad and then
    b dynamically
    bring in photo(s) of children,
-- then no the Photoshop Elements slide show does not have this capability. You need a more advanced slide show program or Adobe Premiere Elements video editor picture in picture also has the capability.
-- an alternative in the Photoshop Elements slide show that you might try (but will not be very precise) is to create the composite photo file in the PSE editor and then use the Zoom or Pan feature of the slide show so that you set the box to start the zoom (or pan) with only the parents visible and then zoom out (or pan) so that the children become visible.

  • Best way to create slide shows in PE4 and PSE 6

What's the best way to create a fancy slide show in PE 4 and PSE 6? I need to create a slide show of about 600 pictures. I'm on Windows XP with 3gb RAM. I've done this a few years ago in earlier versions of PE and PSE. Before i plunge into this again i wanted to get some overall guidance for what to do or not do.
My ultimate goal is to create a slide show that:
    1. uses pan and zoom on every photo
    2. transitions between every photo
    3. has an audio track
    4. has some nice special effects -- words and graphics that appear on slide at precisely the right moment to match the song, and stay on the screen as one slide transitions to another. i want the text to be able to move and fade in and out.
My view is that it's easy to accomplish #1-3 in PSE 6; it's quite simple to create a slide show, add pan and zoom, and transitions. However, #4 is not doable because adding text and graphics can only be done on a slide at a time and only when the slide start/stops (i.e., you can't have text appear 2 secs after the slide has started displaying and stay on screen while the next slide appears). Need PE 4 to do that.
    What i'm wondering is:
-- is it best to create the basic slide show in PSE6 and then export to PE 4 to do the final fancy stuff, or is it best to just create the show in PE4? Seems that doing the pans, zooms, and transitions are easiest in PSE 6.

    eric,
I am going to offer some reasons NOT to start this slide show in Photoshop Elements. This is despite the fact that I have used the workflow of starting in Photoshop Elements and used the Send Slideshow to Premiere Elements in PSE5 - PE 3 and PSE7 - PE7.
1- Timing differences between the PSE and PE slide show construction and processing
There are many differences in timing between the two products. Transitions can start/end slightly offset from their timing in PSE once they arrive and are processed in PE. Same for pan and zoom. Does this matter? Well the more precise your timing, the more potential for a show stopper.
Example: one person who wanted continual motion using pan and zoom needed to go modify the transition positioning and the keyframing of the pan/zooms on every single slide after sending a slideshow from PSE to PRE.
    2- your requirement to
"words and graphics that appear on slide at precisely the right moment to match the song, and stay on the screen as one slide transitions to another. i want the text to be able to move and fade in and out."
You can't really sync the audio to a slide in PSE. The text can't move or fade in/out. I think that it will be more grief to retrofit these functions to a slide show that was created in PSE than it will be to do the all the work in Premiere Elements.
3- "Add the sound track for the ENTIRE slide show (this will be longer than i currently have slides for because i don't have all the photos"
I am suspicious that adding the ENTIRE sound track in one PSE slide show will not work.
I have done multiple sends from PSE slide show editor to Premiere Elements. However, I decided on the approach of using no audio in the PSE slideshow editor and adding Audio in Premiere Elements AFTER sending all the slide shows.
Again, your objective of syncing specific photos to music points is good artistically - but I am concerned that it will make your PSE to PRE workflow problematic.
4- "as new photos arrive, do the arrangement/pans/zooms in PSE and move them to PE"
As Steve mentioned when you do subsequent sends of the slideshow, it appends to the end - does not seem to fit your objective of replacing part of the middle.
Also if you get new photos in for the second section of the slideshow - but over in Premiere Elements you had already made other changes in the second section. There is no function to combine new changes doen in PSE and changes done in PE for that same "section" of the slideshow.
5- you did not say whether you will be outputting this slide show in Full Screen or Widescreen format. Will you be burning a DVD? If you will be doing widescreen output, additional problems with specifying pan/zoom in PSE have been identified on various forums because the PSE pan/zoom boxes are not widescreen aspect ratio.
    Conclusion:
Some of my comments here are definitely subjective - however, it is my overall conclusion that your objectives and work plan are not a good fit for the Photoshop Elements slide show editor to Premiere Elements workflow.
My perspective on the Photoshop Elements slide show editor is that it is designed to simple, quick and easy. Therefore it has limitations.

  • Slide show or Premiere?

I did a childrens' book awhile back. I could make it into a slide show with narration and even music with Elements slide show. What if I wanted movement? Say, a character rising off the page and jumping to the next page, with the page turning back into a static page again (just an example). Would this involve using the Elements/Premier package,or something more complex (Dreamweaver)? If so, I should have jumped on the 99.00 deal I saw for Elements/Premier before I bought Elements. Thanks!

That sounds like a job for Flash [which of course is now owned by Adobe].

  • Slide show will not burn to disc

When burning to disc, I always get a transcoding error. It then reports an error "running low on system memory, save and proceed with caution." I have a vista machine with a duo core [email protected] ghz processor with 4gb of ram. My processor is running a max capacity and ram is only half used. Are there any settings I can change? or do I need a faster processor?
At this point I am not updated on what you got help with prior to posting this question.
But, the first things that I would ask,
    A. what went into this Photoshop Elements 8 slideshow, if photos, what pixel dimensions and how many, if videos, what source, format, and duration, how long is this slideshow?
    B. how did you import the slideshow into Premiere Elements 8 AND have you disabled Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer features there.
    C. what did you do to the Photoshop Elements slideshow once it was in Premiere Elements 8
We can unite the above requested information with your computer specifications in next discussions.
Premiere Elements questions are best posted in the Premiere Elements Forum here.
I will be watching for your responses.

I sent 6 slideshows created in photoshop elements to premiere elements (actually photoshop did it, I simply wanted to create a dvd to show these slide shows on a TV) Each slide show contains between 50 - 100 photos only. The original size of these images is 3000 dpi 3970pixels x2707pixels = 2.44mb each. I have not added any video or audio. I used one of the generic DVD menus and added 1 picture to the menu itself. I do have auto analyzer and other auto recognition programs turned off.

This is what I wound up doing: 1. Create each of your Photoshop Elements slideshows and output each using the Photoshop Elements Slide Show editor Output option "Save As File Movie .wmv" and File Size (profile) = DVD NTSC. Save each as .wmv to Organizer as well as your hard drive location of choice.
I then used windows movie maker to import and burn the files.
The conversion to .wmv files did not take long at all the largest file was 120mb.
I am still confused about batch resizing in photoshop elements. The directions previously given seem to be for photoshop.  I could not find batch resize in the file or edit menus.
As far as my processor is concerned, I ran task manager to see what was running and what it was using.  Whenever any program was "encoding", my processor ran at 90-100% all the time. No other programs were taxing the processor.  My ram memory was unaffected- it always stayed at 50% capacity no matter what was being performed.
Thank you for your help, next time I will use albums to arrange my photos(instead of arranging them within the slideshow), I will resize them (once I figure out how to) and then send them to the slideshow.
