Slideshow in Iphoto11

Slideshow with music, photos show on tv but no music ...i have been told to save as WMA file. do I need to do this and how?

There's no way to save as a Windows media files (WMA) from iPhoto. You'll need to export the slideshow as a Qucktime movie, find a coverter and convert that.

  • Slideshow in iPhoto11 using iMac with mountain lion OSX10.9

I have made a slideshow in iphoto11 and exported it.  Went into imovie11 and selected import.  The slideshow was imported to events.  How do I burn this slideshow to a DVD.  I need to go to mediabrower but it is grey.
I can export the photo album to iMovIe8 create a new project by  dragging  the photos  into a new project.  The old photos are of family members and I need the captions for who is who.  In the New project using only the photo album, the captions are not on, only when I create a slideshow.
I hope someone can help me, and I hope I have made my problem clearly enough for someone to understand. I also have imported Maverick, the latest version.

What version of iPhoto do you have, 9.5 or one of the earlier versions? You don't need to go from iPhoto to iMovie before going into iDVD.  But it's important to know what version of iPhoto you're using.

  • Exported slideshow from Iphoto11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine but show stops 1/2way through because DVD has 2 chapters. How do I eliminate chapters?

I exported slideshow from Iphoto 11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine, but then when playing on DVD player show stops about 12 way and starts over. Seems there are 2 chapters in show. I wan t show to play straight through until end. How do I elimiante chapters or solve problem. Thanks. Bob Low

    Try this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Play the disk image with DVD Player and see if you get the same start over half way thru.
Did you create the slideshow in iPhoto in the slideshow mode?
or were you in an album and then used the Share ➙ iDVD menu option?  What I'm trying to find out is if the slideshow in iDVD is a movie file or an iDVD slideshow with the photos from iPhoto? If it's the latter how many photos in the slideshow?

  • Kens Burns effects not saved in "original" saved slideshows in iphoto 11

i upgraded from iphoto 9 to iphoto 11. I have several saved slideshows. When I opened the saved slideshows in iphoto11 some of the Ken Burns effects were lost (some turned out to be Ken Burns effects on a landscape photos). I tried to add the Ken Burns effects to the landscape photo in the "original theme" and could not do so. The effect would operate until I closed iphoto11 and then would fail to operate when I reopened iphoto and ran the saved slideshow. This also occurred when I made a new saved slideshow. This issue only occurred in landscape photos and did not occur in portrait photos. The Ken Burns effects on a portait photo was updated when going from 9 to 11 and new Ken Burns effects could be added to a new and old saved slideshow.
Of the 12 Themes in saved slideshows only Ken Burns and Original have Ken Burns effects available. The Ken Burns effects are saved when Iphoto 11 is closed for both portrait and landscape photos in the Ken Burns theme and for portrait photos in the Original Theme. Landscape photos did not save in the "original theme"
I wondered if some how my library was corrupted so I went to a MAC store and made saved slideshows using their machine and their iphoto 11. I reproduced these results on an Apple store IMAC. Apple is aware

    SixPack:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As TD pointed out, making a QT movie file of a slideshow involves rendering which is then encoded once again in iDVD. IMO, the best image quality for a slideshow is obtained when you create the slideshow entirely within iDVD. Of course there's no KB effect.
If you create the show in iMovie you can get around the double encoding by closing iMovie once the slideshow is finished. Then open the iMovie project file/package (Option-click on the project file and select Show Package Contents option), find the iDVD folder and drag the .mov file in it into the open iDVD window. This will let iDVD do the rendering of the various transitions and special effects and provide a better final product.
You must remember that iDVD's final resolution is only 640 x 480.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Issue burning a slideshow to DVD?

I created a slideshow using iPhoto11 and when I export it and burn it to a DVD it seems fine but the DVD will not play in a DVD player at all. What am I doing wrong? or Does a Mac require me to purchase something more to make DVD's? Thanks.

If you don't have iDVD then you'll need to purcase a copy of the iLife 09 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software. Why iLife 09 and not 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
So export the slidershow out of iPhoto via the Export button at the Medium or Large size.
Launch iDVD, create a project and select a theme.  Drag the movie file into the iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Ken Burns reverts to nil in iPhoto 11 ver 9.1

I'm making a slide show from an album. I set the Ken Burns effect in individual slides and it plays correctly when I preview it but a few slides later or if I quit for lunch and restart some of the effects remain but many have disappeared and the effect box is no longer checked. Most disappointing! Are there any suggestions or do I just wait til Apple gets it right.

  • IDVD 7.1.2 will not burn a iPhoto11 slideshow

Is there a problem between iphoto 11 9.2.1 and iDVD 7.1.2?
I created a slideshow using iphoto and using SHARE IDVD (which the iDVD software was open) it moved the slideshow over to my theme project in iDVD.
I could view and play.  Now I wanted to burn it to a DVD.  The iDVD when through all it processing makes it to Multiplexing & burning.... does the asset parsing, then goes into multiplexing, from there  I get an error message "Multiplexer Error... error during building.... the disk is still untouched...".
So looking at your last download fixes for idvd in july 2011 update was to fix the slideshow problem and it has not.  Is there a problem between iDVD and iPhoto 11?  Will Apple come out with an update, or fix, or a new software that one will have to purchase?
    Waiting on Apple

It appears that there is a missing part of the system:
      Library not loaded:
    /Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis
Download and use  Find Any File  to search for NyxAudioAnalysis.  If you find it and it's in the correct location reboot and try iDVD again.  If you don't find that file you can try reapplying the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 updater to see if that will install that file.

  • Captions in iphoto11 places slideshow do not save when edited

I am arranging a slideshow that I put together using the places theme. I accidentally labelled one of the captions for the text slide with the wrong location. Now when I try to correct it, it seems fine , but then my changes are lost if I close/reopen ilife or double click on a photo and then return to teh slideshow. It seems there is not permanent way to change the text in the caption.
any ideas much appreciated to fix

What it your iPhoto and MacOS X version? Without knowing that it wlll be hard to tell what might be wrong.
I tested your issue with iPhoto '11 (version 9.2.3) on MacOS X 10.7.4.
Onmy system I have no problems with editing the captions in the Places Theme. When I quit iPhoto or switch between Slideshows or albums the captions do stick.
You may have a problem with the permissions in your library.
    To correct a permissions issue:
    Quit iPhoto, if it’s open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys as you click the iPhoto icon.
The “Rebuild Photo Library” dialog appears.
Select the “Examine and repair iPhoto Library file permissions” checkbox.
If this should not help, try the "Repair the iPhoto Library Database", but make sure you have a working backup of your iPhoto library before you try any of the "repair" or "rebuild" options.

  • IPhoto11 slideshow music doesn't play

When I try to add music to my slideshow, nothing plays.  I can play the songs in iTunes, I can play the songs from the list in iPhoto, but when I add them to the custom playlist window, the song size goes to zero.  Help!

After yesterday's OSX update to 10.9 and the subsequent iPhoto 9.5 update to 9.5 I also have the same problem:
Music for old existing slide shows from iTunes can't be played back.
When changing the setting for the slide show length to be set by the playback time of the music, iPhoto crashes.
When trying to add iTunes music to a slide show the preview function does not work.
iTunes songs can be added to a slide show. When playing it back the songs will however not play.
To rule out an issue with my iPhoto picture library I did the following - sadly still yielding the same erroneous behavior:
    Created new iPhoto library.
    Imported 10 picutes.
Created a new slide show with said pictures.
Tried to add iTunes music: preview does not work and added song don't play when slide show is played back.

  • Drag and drop. Iphoto11

Drag and drop does not seem to work in my iphoto11.  I would just like to move pictures in the specific event into the right order to show in slideshow. The manual entry in view/sort photos is greyed out.  Any help would be appreciated.

I would just like to move pictures in the specific event into the right order to show in slideshow. The manual entry in view/sort photos is greyed out.
You can't dp that. Evets do not allow manual sorting. Why? Events are designed to be entirely automatic - essentially they are basic organisation for folks who can't really be bothered.
Albums are infintely more flexible and do allow manual sorting.

  • Upgraded to iPhoto11 which is awful. How do I put iPhoto 09 back on?

Bought iLife11 when it was launched. The imovie part looks ok, but finding iPhoto awful.
    - In 09, I used to be able to be in an album, highlight a pic, go to view, select full screen, then they would be on full screen and be able to use arrow keys to move though. No I have to use the awful slideshow function.
    - Worst of all is the rubbish email changes. Its fine to use templates, but I like to email images on their own. As I use a DSLR my file sizes were around 8mb, so sending as large was fine, as they would be about 1mb each but no noticeable quality drop. The only way to send without a template is to use photo browser in the email but large is only 250k or so, and pics look awful.
So, can I do what I want in iphoto11 or do I need to go back to iphoto09. If i need 09, what is the best way to install - without losing images, and can i keep imovie11 but have iphoto09?

Are you using Mail? Have you checked the File Size selection at the bottom right of the Message Window?

  • I've installed iPhoto11 and when opening for the 1st time it says that needs to upgrade my library and it is doing this since yesterday. Is this right??

I've installed iPhoto11 and when opening for the 1st time it says that needs to upgrade my library and it is doing this task since yesterday. Is this right??

No. Quit and try again. If that fails again,
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Why did my slideshow in I Photo stop working?

Using IPhoto I always had slideshows with music added.  Now all of a sudden, slideshow does not work and I can not figure out what I may have done.  Any help?

I have the same issue and from the console the error says "Error in opening theme database at path: /Library/Application Support/IPhoto/Themes.db
I can see that there are themes in the Library/Application Support/iPhoto directory all with extension .IPBookTheme but do not see any file .db.

  • IPhoto11 keeps crashing

I am having severe problems with iPhoto11 that are making it unusuable.  Whenever I try to edit my photos - either quick fixes (like crop or enhance) or the more complex operations I am only able to work for about 10 minutes and then I get the 'rainbow circle' and endless delays and now  (almost always) iphoto crashes and I have to restart.  The message I get on the screen 'report' includes the phrases EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) and KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS if that means anything to anyone?  I have an early 2008 iMAC 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro256MB ghraphics...
Any help would be appreciated.....  I wish I had stayed with the old version of iLife and iPhoto.

KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS usually means a data related issue.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
