Slideshow with 160 slides

I am working with iphoto6 and imovie6. I need to create a wedding slideshow with 160 slides and music. I read I can only use up to 99 slides per slideshow. Is there any way around this? Is my next best option to import the slides into imovie? Thanks, Karen

  • Slideshow with audio skips first few slides

I have a simple slideshow with 50 slides and 5 audio clips. THe main menu consists of one button that starts up the slideshow. When the slideshow ends it should return to the main menu. First play should be the main menu. I set up the links correctly and the Encore preview works perfect. After the disc is burned, ejected, and reinserted, the movie doesn't go to the menu but goes directly to the slideshow. On another try it goes to the main menu but skips the first few slides when the show  starts. What can I do to get the DVD to load to the main menu then start from the first slide?
The Begin Slideshow button has a link of slideshow18559... That's the slideshow's name followed by the name of the first slide-I don't think that's right
Here is first play (CD icon is selected)
Here is Begin Slideshow button selected
Here is rose menu hd selected to show links of Begin Slideshow and rose.psd(button) going to same place
Here is cameraslideshow selected to show link back to main menu for end action

I don't know why this isn't working; the links do look correct.
Audio can cause issues.  mp3's are often a cause.  Multiple audios clips on the same Encore timeline can cause issues. Audio gaps of even a few frames, or audio that is slightly shorter or longer than the video/slideshow can cause issues.
If you are putting multiple audio clips in the slideshow, I would take the audio to Premiere, and create one audio clip, and either dynamic link it, or export it as a wav.
Sometimes projects just get messed up, and the problems are resolved by starting a new project.
I prefer making menus the correct size for the Encore project, but some users seem to do fine ignoring this.  I don't think this is likely to cause what you are seeing.

I am using Lightroom on my MAC where I import the finalized JPEG-pictures into iPhoto to create a slideshow (for instance in combination with films). When exporting the slideshow with a 1080p resolution to iTunes I experience difficulties (missing slides and black transitions). When using JPEG-pictures directly from the camera there are no problems, so the manipulation in Lightroom seem to cause corrupt files. Does anyone recognize tje problem and could it have anything to do with the introduction of the Yosemite software? Is Lightroom already Yosemite-proof?

In iPhoto 11 the Originals folder is renamed Masters.

  • Slideshow with the active slide in the center at full opacity

    Hello all,
I'm trying to create a slideshow with the active slide in the center at full opacity while the two photos on the sides aren't at full opacity (see link below).  Any idea if this can be done in Muse?

    Thank you.

Have you sorted the photos manually? Then the instant slideshow will not work correctly. Create a regular slideshow.   File >  New Slideshow

  • Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome

Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome. Works in IE. This is my first time trying to post a question - so please be kind. I am also not good with code and am finding css a real challenge after learning to design based on tables. I'm using CS5.
The "test" page with the slide show is: http://www.reardanwa.com/index-slides.html   The same page without the slide show is http://www.reardanwa.com/
I realize the images are not ideally sized - I'll fix those once I get the pages to function.  Maybe I need a different slide show? I would prefer a widget that I can modify to required size & postition. Again - I'm not good at building with code from scratch.
The problem is the naviagation links that are directly next to the slide show do not work in Firefox of Chrome. They do work in IE.
I've read about using jQuery.noConflict(); code but can't figure out the correct way to use it in my case or whether that's even part of the solution. I know my code is not well organized as I have cobbled together from various sources in an attempt to format the page the way the client wants it. Also, FYI, I will eventually try to make the page work in Surreal CMS.
I've spent sevaral days over the last several weeks trying to solve sth slide show/navigation conflict - so any specific light you can shed will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I created a 23 minute slideshow with music of family vacation. Youtube and smugmug both said it was too large to post for my family.
suggetions please?? I use to use Mobileme...

A few different ways about this. You could split the slide show into smaller sections that are withi the limits for posting and then post each section.
You could try a different encoding to make the file smaller. What settings did you use when you created and exported the slide show?

  • How do I create a slideshow with music and voiceover?

I am trying to create a slideshow with photos, music (iTunes playlist), and voiceover created in Garageband. I cannot figure out how to have both the voiceover and the music play during the slideshow. I also tried iDVD but ran into the same problem.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song, how to set it up to show the photos for the duration of certain songs... if that is possible. However, my main issue is the first one - how or which program to use to combine photos (iPhoto), music (iTunes), and voiceover (GarageBand).

However, my main issue is the first one - how or which program to use to combine photos (iPhoto), music (iTunes), and voiceover (GarageBand).
    Use whichever you want.

Use separate tracks for music and voiceover/narration so you can adjust volumes independently.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song,
Use separate tracks for each song or use two tracks and alternate songs on these tracks so as to allow maximum alignment/overlap possibilities.

Slide photo and/or song to align beginnings and then drag the end photo "handle" left or right to change its duration to match the duration of your song.

  • Can I convert a pdf slideshow with narrative to a movie file?  Using Pro version 8

I am working with a template software (Vacation Bible School) where I insert pictures and at the end, it plays a slideshow with narrative (already in the template) when you open it up and hit the spacebar.  it works fine, but there are 5 different files and the company we got the template/pdf files from suggest for presentation purposes, I should just open up each file individually and start the slide show.  it seems kind of clumsy having to open up each file individually, play it, close it and then go to the next file.  It would be great if I could capture the slideshow as a movie file, then combine all 5 movie files into one file that can be played on a CD player (I use Sony Vegas studio and Nero software for this).  I am using Acrobat Pro version 8.  Any suggestions?

It can't be done in Acrobat.
I just did a Google search on "pdf slideshow to video" and saw a couple of third party products that claim to be able to do it. I have never had a need for that, and can't claim how well they work.

  • Slide show with 198 slides

I've read there is a limit in iDVD to 99 slides per slideshow.
I have 198 slides and can not cut anymore.
I don't need fancy transitions, titles, etc. - so is there an easy way in either iPhoto, iMovie, or iDVD to create a slideshow with the number of slides I have?

That's true but with iDVD 08 that has changed. The standard for DVDs is 99 chapters per slideshow or 99 menus per DVD, etc. Each still photo is considered a chapter in iDVD.
Apple gets around that restriction by renumbering chapter 100 back to zero. The same goes for the 199th chapter. This way you can have more than 99 slides in an iDVD slideshow using still photos.
However, there is a caveat to this workaround. When the DVD player gets to slide 100, 199, etc. there will be a pause. That pause can be very short or sometimes freezes the player. A lot depends on the set top player and on how the iDVD project was burned. On the disks I've created with slideshows more than 99 photos the pause is like the pause you get when playing a commercial movie DVD and the player switches layers, brief and not really obvious. I have 2 DVD players and both exhibit the pause but to different degrees. Neither is objectionable.
It's recommended that iDVD projects be first saved as a disk image so they can be played with DVD Player to check the encoding process. This separates the encoding process from the burn process.
Once you're satisfied the encoding process was successful burn to disc with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
But with the iPhoto slideshow a QT movie file is created when you export to iDVD. However, you must be in the slideshow mode and not just an album which you've used to create a slideshow on the fly. If you use the Share ➙ Send to iDVD from an album you will just export the still photos to iDVD.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Slideshow with audio

Hi, 1st time to use forums. I'm using idvd5.0.1 and iphoto 5.0.4 and trying to made a dvd of slideshow with music. If you make the slideshow in idvd it will only let you use 99 slides, and the music repeats itself (which is what I want). I have 234 slides that I would like to put on one dvd with audio of 3 and a half minutes. When I make the slideshow in iphoto and then send to idvd to burn, (it makes it into a movie), all the slides (234) are there, but the music does not repeat. Can this be done? any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Mary (hope I've mae myself clear)

Thanx Sue for your help. First try didn't work, but I only had the one song and it still would not repeat. so what I did , was make 10 copies of the song that I took out of itunes, moved it to the desktop and from there, I made 10 copies on the cd and then copied those into itunes. Then used that playlist in iphotos slideshow, then exported it to idvd, and then it finally worked.... thanx again for all your help,. I was really getting very frustrated. I hadn't used forums before, but I'm a user and believer now for sure. Mary

  • Slideshow with Music - Viewing Options

I created a Slideshow with vacation photos, etc. on my basic mini with DVD read/CD read-write capabilities. From what I can get from Photo Help, I can burn pictures to a CD and I can burn songs to a CD but I cannot burn a Slideshow to a CD to send to others to play on a Windows PC.
Is this a done deal, or is there some procedure I can't find that a;;ows me to do this??
Also, on the same topic, does anyone know if a Slideshow from Photo can be transferred to those Digital Picture Frames that say "Slideshow capable" in their advertising??
Thanks for any insights on these features!! John

You can get a slideshow to a "Video CD" but you can't do that with the software that Apple gave you. Most current DVD players can also play a "Video CD" and I would guess a Windows PC can, but I'm not sure if they'd need additional software or not.
Roxio Toast 8 Titanium will allow you to convert many types of QuickTime files to a Video CD. I'm guessing you were using iPhoto to make your slide show? (You didn't say specifically.) If this is the case, you can export your slideshow to iDVD. This will put a movie file of your slide show in your user's "Movies" folder. You can skip the iDVD part and then use Toast to burn your movie to a Video CD.
Toast also gives you the option of creating a slideshow CD of its own. This CD will include a video player for both Mac and Windows.
We'd have to know exactly which model digital picture frame you're asking about, but chances are you'd be able to export a set of pictures from iPhoto and save them onto some kind of memory card or stick. You might need to buy a card-reader for your Mac, but most of those devices just use JPEGs like the ones in your iPhoto. You'd probably want to export the pictures so they were just the right size for the screen on the frame.

  • Slideshow with Music?

Hello. I’m looking for some help with creating slideshows, with music, and creating a web page so it plays for friends (Mac or Windows users).
I can do the basics. I’ve selected a group of photos in iPhoto (6.0.4) and created a slideshow, then I selected Music. I clicked Play and was happy with the results. Now what?
By accident, my first slide show (while in iPhoto) encorporated a sound track (Sample Music - “Acoustic Sunrise.”) And when I played the show it looks and sounds great. But I am unable to replicate this for posting on the web.
When I select a group of photos from my Library and then select the “Create Slideshow” button, I get options that include Music. However, when I choose the iWeb button and use the drop down menu to select Photo Page, I no longer have the option to include music.
Likewise, if I Save a slideshow while in iPhoto, then go to Share - Send to iWeb, nothing happens. It is greyed out.
Soewhere along in this process I managed to Publish. But the published shows do not include the sound track. I can’t see any option for including music.
I’m confused. I’m trying to do anything fancy here. I just want to post what it is I am getting in iPhoto on my desktop so family-friends can view and hear. Help?

Noodlehead, I share your frustration & disappointment at the lack of elegant interface between iPhoto, Keynote, and iWeb. I am frustrated! I have spent all night creating a Keynote presentation to put up on iWeb for a state presentation. Although I was able to put a very clumsy version using QT, it's very unfriendly - no music, no controls. So I tried to export it as HTML. No can do uploading html to iWeb. So, I took those individual jpg files in iPhoto and made a slideshow with music. Cool! But again, there is absolutely no interface between iPhoto slideshows and iWeb. The support directions for Share: Mac Slides are great until you look for a Step 5: Connecting your slideshow to iWeb or even .Mac. Photocasting doesn't even allow people to go from one picture to the next with out clicking in and out of pictures (Click to view. Click to close pic. Mouse down to next pic. Click to open the next pic Click to close. Mouse click down ... AND there's no music that goes with . I'm thinking I could make an iMovie, but I am so afraid THAT won't upload either. I thought there was this elegant interface between iWork & iLife. Boy, am I WRONG! It looks sexy, but it turns out to be crack junkie. I've been up all night and all day now going from one dead end to another. IF anyone CAN HELP, PLEASE RESPOND. I think I'm going to try taking it into iMovie and then hopefully put that on iWeb. SAVE ME!

  • How do you run a slideshow with no music in new Photos app

In the new Photos app I can find no way of running a slideshow without music - either the standard themes or selecting my own music.  How can I run a slideshow with no music at all?  No setting, tab or option seems to be available to achieve this.

Hit top right arrow for slide show; click on Music, click button next to search; choose Theme songs, click on blue check mark to remove it, then hit PLAY SLIDESHOW.
