Small size file can not read correctly on other linux

Hi, I am running archlinux 0.8 on my laptop, and there is another linux runs kernel version 2.6.20 with root filesystem of debian v3.1.
I wrote a shell script which reads a small, 49 bytes, only 1 line conf file on my archlinux, it works fine.
But if I copy script & conf files to debian, the script can not read conf file with:
while read f;do; echo $f; done < conf
but `cat`,`more` commands can read it. I have to open conf file with vi on debian and do nothing but :wq rewrite it to make script working.
Both arch & debian use ext3 file system. Could anyone tell me why? thanks.

I think your command is wrong: it works with zsh and doesn`t work in bash. Maybe you should remove extra ';'?

My first guess is the same as yours, which is a "zoom" issue. Holding down the Command key and pressing 0 (zero) should reset the zoom level of the current site to the standard level. Is that still too small?
Regarding content overlapping, this can occur for a few different reasons. Please check on these:
(1) "Text Only" zoom
If View menu > Zoom > Zoom Text Only has a checkmark, click it again to unselect it.
(2) Manually setting font sizes
In the Preferences dialog (either the "3-bar" menu button or the Firefox menu) > Content > "Advanced" button
If the Minimum font size is set to a number larger than 9, change it to 9 or None. A large minimum font size often will wreck the layout.
At the top, there is "Fonts for" drop-down that usually will say Latin or Other Writing Systems. You will want to make the same change for both of those, so select whichever one isn't currently displayed.
Finally, make sure the checkbox for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts" is checked and OK out of the dialog.

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

Acrobat is a paid software and used to read and edit the pdf files.
Reader is the free software used to just read the pdf files.

I used pages to write my coursework, but when I saved it, pages crashed...
Now I tried to reopen the file. It shows "The document ___.pages can not be read - The Document Does Not Have A Valid Format".
I've looked through the forum to find any fix methond. I tried the "zip solution" -> changes the file entention as .zip file.
But the still can not solve my problem. it shows the zip file can not be open..

I followed the instriction, and changed to root to locate /.DocumentRevisions-V100/
I can see several ______.pages file under the ./DocumentRevisions-V100/PerUID/
From the "Date Modified" attribute, I can find several __.Pages files that what I want.

Can not read or write to mac hard drive error

When attempting to transfer music files from an external usb harddrive formatted in windows into Itunes, I can only successfully import a small fraction of the music, and then its stops with a error, that the Mac HD can not read or write files.

It's possible the file names have some 'funky' characters in them that the Mac doesn't like ?

Im have an Mac running on Mac Os X 10.7.3
I bought a HP officejet PRO 8500 A910.
The printer is installed and works fine if a want to print a document or a picture. The scanner also works.
BUT there is a problem.
When I scan a document in my HP scanner to a PDF file. This PDF file can not be printed. When I send it to other people's computer, the can also read it on screen, but not print.
The printer gives an error : Unable to covert PostScript file. (see screenshot).
Can anyone help me? I want to scan usable PDF documents that can be printed by anyone.

The solution given was to convert to image. Then it is no longer a PDF! The printer worked fine until I upgraded to 10.9. Did the change in drivers eliminate the PPD? I can print PDF's from Preview just fine. Will HP be updating the driver to include the proper PPD? As an aid to troubleshooting, what files should be present in the Library for correct PDF printing? This is happening on both my 8500 and 8610.

Any time any of my usernames come up in the dropdown menu with auto complete, the font is to small and i can't read it.. is there anyway to make it bigger???

the auto fill feature that firefox has, when i go to type in a username that's already been entered in, i cant read what i've previously put in at previous website visits. The drop down menu that shows what has previously been entered is way to small and i can't read what it says. even with the page zoomed. how can i make it bigger?

Hello Ashley.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
On the other hand, you may have Firefox configured to display fonts like that. Check Tools > Options > Content > Fonts & Colors and see that the font size is not too small. In my experience, sizes bellow 16 will be way to small to read.
