Smart Album's Display Wrong Photos (By Date)

Compiling the family photos from vacation, about 8 different camera's. Different clocks on all the camera's I'm trying to get photos to show up in Date driven smart albums.
Day 1 June 25
Day 2 June 26
I have adjusted the timezones successfully for most of the photos, now I need to perform some batch changes to clean up problems.
After I do this, my Smart Albums are not showing the right photos -- they keep showing photos from the previous day no mater what I do.
The Image Date is showing up as correct for the problem photos...
Any suggestions?

Where are the Smart Albums located in your library? Aperture actually scopes Smart Albums based on where they are initially created. So if you, say, create a folder called "Smart Albums" at the highest level of your hierarchy, in a folder where there are no projects, the Smart Albums will always be empty. You need to create them somewhere that there are projects with photos.
It's a bit confusing until you understand what's going on. Have a read of the document on Smart Albums which explains how they work in particular. This really is one area where you do have to read the manual to understand… I think their functionality could be cleared up a bit in the UI to make it more obvious that they're scoped.

  • Smart Album Not Displaying All Photos for Keywords

    Hello,
    hmmm ...
I have a smart album looking for a specific keyword. This album is displaying the correct numbers of fotos with the correct keywords - but some fotos are not displayed (white background, filesize 0, exclamation mark when trying to edit).
I have checked, that the fotos are still on place: they are in the library, the (same) keyword search out of the library is working, spotlight is finding them. I did a database rebuilt.
But i have still the problem, which seems to exist only with smart albums.
    Any suggestions?
    Happy new year
    Ivo

    Hi Terence,
You are right. The Photos are indeed missing, i opened the iphoto "original" folder, which ist empty. For what reason ever. The missing photos are others than i thought.
Now i'm looking to restore them - i hope i have a suitable backup.
    Thanks.

  • Smart Album not display photos

I set all my smart albums by using the calendar setting by date. Three (3) of my smart albums do not display the photos. I've checked to ensure the photos are in my library and are dated correctly. I've also done a consistency check and rebuilt my Library. The smart albums still do not display the photos. Smart albums on either side of the non-functioning smart albums display photos as set.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Smart Album problem: Camera Model photos not showing

I have owned the iphone 1,3g,3gs and now 4s and all 3 ipads...
I at one point had a smart album created for each phone or ipad to be able to sort them by which device i took the photo on.
My ipad 2 and iphone 3g and 3gs photo's now show empty in the smart album, although i still have all the photo's in my library.
    can someone help? thanks!

i tried that and didn't work. i wound up finding the post about repairing the library and that did the trick. Thanks!

  • Smart Album to isolate iPhone Photos only?

I have had each version of the iPhone since it's initial release several years back. I want to know if it's possible to create a smart album to group just my iPhone photos (not movies), regardless of which version of the iPhone shot the image.
    Is this possible?

Create a Smart Album with the criterion Camera Model> is > iPhone, if you had more than one version you might want to add a second criterion for the other iPhone. It will only show photos.

  • No "New Smart Album" option when filtering "Photos"

When filtering all photos in the library using the filter bar, there's no option to create new smart album from the results, only for "New Album with Current Images". The option to create a new smart album only seems to appear when you're filtering a project.
    Why?
You can create a smart album which filters the entire library, why doesn't Aperture allow the reverse: filter the entire library, and use the results to create a smart album?

That's a good question. No idea why the option to create a smart album is missing in that context but that doesn't mean you can't create a smart album that works on the entire library. In fact all the predefined smart albums under +Library Albums+ work on the entire library.
To create your own smart album that works on the entire library select +Smart Album+ from the New pulldown, just make sure nothing is selected when you do this and the Smart Album will work on all images in the library.
To check what part of the library the Smart Album is selecting from look at the Source: line of the filter HUD.

  • Smart album to show untagged photos

Since I won't be able to tag 3000+ photos except in one heck of a marathon sitting, I want to define a smart album that shows those pictures that do NOT have keywords assigned. That way, as the pictures get tags added, they should fall out each time the album is refreshed, correct? (and how would a manual refresh be invoked?)
What is the correct expression to feed into the definition?

Never mind, I got it! "Keyword is: None" and I see the refresh is automatic. Perfect. :-D
Now each time I do an import, I can see exactly which ones I need to tag. Sweet!

  • IMovie projects displaying wrong photos

After upgrading to iMovie 09, my old projects that were "in the works" now display the wrong photos. When I preview the movie, it has the right photos. I don't understand. Even the movies that were finished and put into iDVD now show the wrong photos in the Project window.

I am having the exact same problem. I can't seem to find a workaround, even duplicating the project file gave me the same issue. My best solution is you can make a separate project, drag the photos you want to show into there (with any transitions or effects you want) and then export that project as a separate QuickTime file. Then reimport that newly created movie and it will work because iMovie is reading your "photos" as a movie file now. I did this and it worked for me, even though I admit it's a pain. But at least I didn't have to start my project all over again. Good luck!

  • I need a Smart Album that only contains photos with NO faces detected

I've been fiddling with the smart album settings, and I can't seem to find a way to do this. iPhoto will miss detection on some faces, and I need a way to see ONLY the photos that iPhoto didn't find a face for.
This is NOT the same as a smart album with an "unknown" face. This is a smart album that will show ALL photos with NO face detected at all.
    Is this possible?

Boy, why can't we use Smart Folders as a criteria for creating another Smart Folder? This works in iTunes! You can use a Smart Playlist as a criteria for creating another Smart Playlist.
Well, here is what you can do...
Create a Smart Folder that gathers all of the identified Faces. Faces --> is not --> unnamed
Then drag all those photos to a standard album titled Faces Named
Next Create a Smart folder that gathers all of the unnamed Faces. Faces --> is --> unnamed
Now drag all those photos to a standard album title Faces Unnamed.
Finally, create a Smart Album with the following criteria...
Album --> is not --> Faces Named
Album --> is not --> Faces Unnamed
That should gather every photo that iPhoto has determined that no faces exist.

  • Wrong photo creation date

    Hi,
I have just created a new intelligent album that should only contain photos from 1999. The creation date in the Finder's Get Info window is 1999. But as I worked on these pix yesterday in Photoshop as Aperture didn't recognize those old JPEGs at all, Aperture insists that these pix were created yesterday, not in 1999.
Is there any way to change the metadata manually so that A. recognizes the correct creation date?
    Thanks a lot!
    Peter

Can you not select the files in Aperture then go-to Metadata in the top main menu bar, then change Date and time. There is also a little button to click that says change master files. This works for me.

  • TS3579 Finder is displaying wrong information on date of modification and when files are opened up, this did not help me. I am using Mavericks.

Never tried this before but this, the topic, is a little bit annoying at times.. any idea how to fix this or is this just how it will be? This is not OS X ML tho as stated in topic.

I've just reported that to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
It's fair to call it a bug I think. Opening a folder changes the modification dates of some, but not all, the folders enclosed.
Plays havoc with organising time series (backups, things one has just worked on, etc.).

  • Iphoto-I inadvertantly created a smart album.  It has captured all recent photos in it I want to delete it but need to know if this will delete the same photos in their albums?

iphoto- I accidently created a smart album which is capturing all current new photos.  I put them in their  own album but I can't delete them in the smart album.  Can I delete the smart album without losing the photos in the other albums? larrybksfld

Yes you can delete the Smaert Album. It will not delete the photos.

  • Can you manually add photos to a Smart Album?

I have created Smart Albums using faces.  IE one for my daughter.  I have some other pictures I want to put in the album that I want in her album but don't have a face that is hers.  It wont let me drag onto it.  Help!

That is correct - smart albums are automatic and photos are added or removed based on meeting the set criteria - one way to do it is to add a keyword for thos photos and include that keyword as ann optional criteria for the smart album

  • Smart albums based on photo orientation (portrait or landscape)

Is it possible to use orientation of the photo (portrait or landscape) as a criteria for a smart album? I couldn't find a way to do this. I'd like to create a smart album of all landscape photos and use that album as a source for desktop background and screensaver.
    Thanks,
    Zoran

Actually this IS possible in iPhoto '11, just not immediately obvious as to how.  Assuming all your photos are digital and contain metadata relating to the orientation:
Create a new Smart Album with the following setting:
Field: Select the "Any Text" option (second in list)
    Matching: Select "Contains" option
Value: Type "Portrait" into the keyword box
    Click OK and your done.
Substitute Portrait for Landscape if you want a landscape Smart Album.

  • How to arrange photos in a smart album

I have a hundred or so pics put into the library. I then created smart albums based on keywords but the pics are out of order and need to be arranged. It won't let me. It will be difficult to just go into the library and do it since I wwill be looking at pics from all categories. Suggestions? Thanks,

You can change the order with the different View options, but you can't manually arrange items in a Smart Album. Select all photos in the smart album and copy them into a regular album, where you can manually rearrange them.
