Smart Sync and SAPs Expense application (1.6) on MI2.5 SP16

A quick question:
Can we use Smart Sync when installing/deploying SAPs "canned" Expense Mobile application ?
There are many advantages in Smart Sync that would greatly improve performance.

You can change the code.. its opensource, the source code comes with the apps. Import the same into NWDS and change them. The procedure for doing the same is given in the document as well :). its one of the well documented applications i've used
But if you want to use smart sync, you need to follow a different procedure. its a long process but POSSIBLE, mind that!
Yes, you may as well use the expense part alone.. and for that u need to upload EXPENSE.ZIP and TE_BASICS.ZIP. and follow the procedure for just the EXPENSE part in the configuration document.

Extension fields in forms using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and SAP Cloud Application Studio.

Hello everyone,
I am new to using SAP Cloud Application Studio and am currently working on forms.
I have created some extension fields in the dunning letter form message type : FormDunning Notification.
Upon activating, the extension fields do show up in backend form data type structure.
However i am unable to find the fields in the front end form under Form Template Maintenance.
I have tried opening form with open editor as well as downloading template and opening in Adobe LiveCycle Designer .
After creating the data connection in adobe ,the first field (ProjNumDun ) do appear in correct place in data view.But i cant find the rest of the fields.
Any help,guidance and suggestion will be really appriciated.

Kamakshi,
First, any extension fields added must be explicitly assigned to appear on the forms. Through Front-end Adaptation, this would be via the "Further Usage" link. Within the SDK, you'd right-click the XBO and select "Enhance Forms" (which would take you to the same screen as you'd end up at in through front-end").
You must select "Add Field and Edit..." to actually assign it to the Form Template schema.
Once this step is done, re-download the Form Template, and make sure to reload the Data Connection within LiveCycle. Through there, you should see your fields. You'll likely have to dig for them - they appear at the very end of the child elements.
Note that, while fields added through the front-end have a long string appended to the end (for example, it would appear as "ExtensionField_1234AISU897234HJA" if added via front-end adaptation), the fields added via the SDK do NOT have the suffix (you'll be looking for an element with JUST the field name, i.e. "ExtensionField")

How to... Integrate BI Document Store and SAP Analytics Applications

Currently we are trying to implement the how to document mentioned above.
What we are trying to realize is to implement a textbox functionality in a SAP BI dashboard. The how to is written in 2006 for SAP EP SP8. We are using now SP16 and the whole part where you define the correct webservice paragraph 3.6 of the document isn't functioning correctly.
Can anyone help me on this topic...? Is there a new How to document that works with SP16...?

Seem to have fixed the problem.
By adding a filter before the table view it seems to allow a slight delay which allows the file types to load and the IF statements run correctly and display the correct images for the various file types.
Still seems that there is a slight Visual Composer Issue there? (but now with a work-around)

Smart Sync APIs????

Hi All,
I am new to MI and currently trying to understand Smart Synchorization. I have developed the SmartSync example given in MDK 2.5. However, I am not able figure out where & how I can use SmartSync API in it when the SmartSync Wizard has already done everything. Kindly let me know, if possible with examples, how & when to use Smart SYnc API in a application already developed using SmartSync Wizard (other than what is given in MDK). Also if any body knows where I can find more SmartSync examples please let me know.

the MDK will only create a skeleton of your application.
you have to implement your business logic and create your
application's UI as well.
The MDK has tutorials included in it on how to create a
simple application. This will give you an idea on how to
use the APIs.

Difference Smart Sync - Generic Sync

Hi all,
sorry for this simple and maybe stupid question, but I am a newbie in this topic. Can anybody tell me the differnce between generic sync and smart sync and when do i have to use them? Can they be used mixed or only one of them?

hello Michael,
On the client-side's view:
GenericSync is a lower layer that is responsible for data transport, connection and configuration updates.
SmartSync is another layer working on top of the GenericSync. In other words, SmartSync layer is just a GenericSync application that offers a wide-variety of features thru the SmartSync apis.
Yes you could mix GenericSync and SmartSync features in your application.

BI Document Store and SAP Analytics

Hi,
<b>Requirement:</b> Store text in BI system which was entered through visual composer text control.
<b>Background:</b> Im trying to store some text in BI system through CL_RSOD_DOC->SAVE. Text written in visual composer text editor and being passed to the class method Save through bespoke BAPI Z_BAPI_BI_DOC_WRITE. FYI, this BAPI is created through a how-to document Integrate BI Document Store and SAP Analytics Applications by SAP itself.
<b>Problem:</b> Text editor has the ability to format text as paragraphs and tab spaces but when the entered text is retrieved, it comes as a single line; i.e. all the carriage returns are truncated and data retrieved in form of string.
<b>Possible Cause:</b> Data being passed to method Save is through interface field type String, which is then considered as plain text without any formatting. But keep in consideration that receiving parameter of method Save also has type String, so changing interface in outer function wont work.
Can you please suggest any possible resolution of the problem? I want to display the data as it was entered, i.e. with carriage returns, etc.

which service do you need? Did you create all the services, which are described in the document? Also check if your function module is remote-enabled, only then you have access to it from Visual Composer.

Central instance and SAP instance

hello,
Im confusing with Central Instance (CI) and SAP instance (Application Instance)
According to my understanding, i think SAP instance is running on all the Aplication servers. (if having 4 Application servers, in all those servers, SAP instance is running concurrently)
But Central instance is running on 1 of the Application servers only.
- How will the SAP decides on which Application should run the central instance.
Will that CI change automatically time to time.... or do we need to allocate 1 Application server as CI server, when doing the installation.
Is there any relationship between Message server and Central instance.
Does CI contains message services and enqueue service...
plz help me to reslove these issues

unit which provides services used by clients connected to the SAP system.
Among these services are the Message server and the Enqueue server, which

Smart sync application

I am using WebAS 6.40 SP16 and MI client is MI2.5 sp15 patch04.
I want to create a smart sync application for practice.I am just trying the examples given in the MDK
(for them the BAPI wrappers already exist).I created a syncBO for the bapi wrapper MEREP_CONTACT_GETLIST.I followed the

just include the property file in ur application(because of that missing resource exception) ,then export it as WAR file and upload that WAR file corresponding to ur created MCD through Web Console ,assign that to particular user , while sync it will get downloaded to the client device (this downloading is just like deploying a J2EE application in to the server . in our case tomcat is the server for JSP Runtime).(deploy).
If u need to change entries in the configuration file (Client specific configuration), then only u have to do conifiguration in MI server(if ur MI server is configured properly).

Have u included any resources(language specific property files or property files for configurations) in your SmartSync Application?.
If yes,
correct the reference to that resource file in ur code.
one more thing..
r u using SP 09 version of developer studio for creating Smart Sync Applications.
Structure and working of(APIs used for running application in cliet side.)applications developed in SP 09 is different from those applications created in higher versions(from SP 11 v onwards ).
If u r using SP 9 , then atleast upgrade or install SP 11 (i think latest is SP 16) and try to create applications in that.
just refer this forum , in this forum i have already discussed in detail about the structural differeces of applications in SP 09 and SP 11 or higher .

After making changes to ur application , u dont have to uninstall that application . u can modify the installed applications using this way .. just refer this blog.....

Language problem in Travel and Expense Application

Hi ,
We have travel and expense application currently running.
We are supporting that the user can use his browser language to view the content on the travel and expense application.
The problem occurs only on IE 7.0 and higer and also in firesfox 3.0.
We are on SP15 where sap supports IE 7.0.
When the user selects the international version of the language in IE 7.0 or IE8.0 like fr-FR or de-DE or es-ES it gives german by default for any language selected.
But if we select country specific language which like fr-CA or es-AR it works fine and shows the right language.
We have set our JCO language to be empty for using browser langauge.
We do not have user profile language enabled on the portal so users cannot set their language other than in the portal.
The links on the area group page show in right language.
The problem is seen when the user clicks on create expense report link and is in the webdynpro application.
I have opened an OSS note for this.Could anyone test the same scenario on your browsers on portal with version 7.0 having the same issue.Please make sure your browser is version IE 7.0 or higher

the 3rd party tool is ETL , you can use ETL tool and the prepare the load files then you can use LSMW method to upload the data to SAP.

SAP Portal Network - WebDynpro iView and SAP Application iView sharing

Hello All,
I've read about the restrictions in SAP Portal supporting the WSRP standard for application sharing. Mainly WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews sharing is not supported. That is in the case of a SAP Portal as producer and Non-SAPPortal as consumer.
I'm interested in a WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews sharing in a only-SAP Portals Network, where SAP Portals act as producer and consumer.
I've heard about the Remote Role Assignment and Remote Content Copy that are used in such case. I would like to ask if anyone knows if these can help overcome the restriction in sharing WebDynpro iViews and SAP application iViews that is present with WSRP? And if the advantage of WSPR, that is the application execution and rendering on the producer side, and as follows decreasing of bandwidth usage, is remaining in the case of the Remote Role Assignment and Remote Content Copy.

Sync so slow and deleted my applications. Help!

guys, i got iphone from my friend and he told me to put images and videos in it, so i downloaded the iTunes, the latest, and i connect iphone to pc, btw~ its iphone(original), then the sync of files begins, it took so long, i think 60-90 minutes, i dont know why it needs to be sync before putting files.. after the sync, it started deleting my applications, so the half way through i canceled it and checked the iphone, some apps were deleted.
i checked at other sites that those files which are deleted are in the temporary folder, which i have already checked, and those were 1k+ files.
my questions:
1. how do i export the files(applications, etc.) in the temporary folder to the iphone?
2. when i connect the iphone to pc, does it have to sync everytime i connect?
3. before i can put my photos and video files from pc to iphone, i need to finish the sync and the deletion of the apps?
4. also, i have the installer of the iphone application, how can i install it in iphone?
