SMB automatically uses AD username and passwords

Hello,
I'm trying to connect to a server using smb. The username/password prompt window does not open and just automatically connects using the AD username and password that is connected. Any ideas?

you connect from menu
go--connect to server--smb://ipyourserver
or from the network list?

  • Using a username and password to access the network

    Dear gents,
i am trying to make the access to the network via 2 things : SSID's key first , then using a username and password to connect, or at least username and password.
    i have aironet 1130ag , and 40 users.
    Any suggestions..

SSIDs are unique identifiers that identify a WLAN network. Wireless devices use SSIDs to establish and maintain wireless connectivity. SSIDs are case-sensitive and can contain up to 32 alphanumeric characters. Do not use any spaces or special characters in an SSID.
A client can gain access to the network only if the client password matches the AP password.

  • How do you make connection password use single username and password in P/S

    Hi
    I have installed OBIEE as a standalone on a Windows 2003 server using OC4J and AUTHENTICATION_TYPE = BYPASS_NQS.
I have created a repository using an ODBC connection to a Netezza database. The implementation we have is that we use a single username and password (readonly) to the database.
I have created the physical, business and presentation layers and the repository is consistent and loadas up into the Presentation Server.
When I login into presentation server as say "Administrator", the PS passes the username/password of "Administrator" instead of the username and password setup in the connection pool.
    The error is;
-------------------- Query Status: Query Failed: [nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: HY000 code: 108 message: Password authentication failed for user 'ADMINISTRATOR'.
When I create a user with the same username and password as the one used in the connection pool, the requests work. Although thisd lets me work at the moment, it is not a viable solution going forward.
Please can you advise what I need to setup for this to work correctly for me ie., make PS substitute the correct username password when connecting to the ODBC defined in the connection pool?
    Thanks in advance.
    Danish.

Apologies if I've misunderstood, but are you trying to implement anything than standard practise, namely:
    1) Using the OBIEE security model to authenticate and log in (i.e. when you log in to Answers you are entering a username as defined in the RPD)
    2) Using a fixed username & password as defined on the database to authenticate & authorise when you read data for your reports?
If you use BYPASS_NQS then BI Server will take your login details when you login to Answers (Presentation Server) and pass them through to the database and see if they're valid. This is what's happening when you got the error that you initially posted. With setting at BYPASS_NQS try logging into Answers with the database username&password, I bet it will work.
If you use NQS (the default) then it checks the Answers login against users defined in the RPD, so the reason you couldn't login when you changed it to NQS is that the user/pw you logged in with didn't match what's defined in the RPD.
    Try this:
    1. Create a new user & pw in the RPD, for argument's sake call it TestRPDUser with the same pw
    2. Set authentication to NQS and restart you BI Server
    3. Log in to Answers as TestRPDUser - does it work?

and why put an upper limit on the number of characters in the password and why exclude certain characters in the password.
Every restriction you place on a password reduces the available entropy and therefore makes it easier to crack. However, certain resrictions--such as requiring at least one non-letter, not allowing dictionary words, not allowing it to contain the username, etc., while slightly reducing the average time for a brute force attack, can make other very quick attacks--like a dictionary attack--untenable. So there are some restrictions that are a good idea.I will concede this but it I am not keen on protecting a user from his own stupidity. Since this namby-pamby approach is the industry norm I have to go along with it but I hate it.In some cases you may be protecting your own assets from the user's stupidity, depending on what his account gives him access to.

Can anyone help me? I cannot sign in my iChat. I've been using iChat with same username and password with my Gmail account. Now, I cannot sign in my iChat, but I can still sign in my Gmail with the same username and password. Can someone advise me what to do?

    Hi,
I am beginning to see more threads that suggest that something may be up with the Google Servers.
In iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Server settings tab try changing the port to 443 (With SSL still selected)
It may be that in a couple of days the Google Servers will get back in sync.

  • Using NT username and password with Portal??

I want to have a pulling mechanism between the Portal application and the component that holds the NT username and password. If I were to log onto my NT box with username:XXX password: YYY and bring up the Portal application.. I wouldn't have to go through the Portal login process because the Portal application already pulled my username & password. Any thoughts?

Oracle9iAS Portal Knowledge Exchange has a community contribution that describes how to get the portal to authenticate users against their NT credentials, and subsequently, how to facilitate the transparent login of NT users to the Portal.
This contribution is from Damian Edwards and can be found in his community folder (labelled "DAEDW1"). Damian is one of the top rated contributors and his article on NT authentication with portal is one of the top rated community items. So you should be able to find links to his folder from the Knowledge Exchange portlets for "top rated community items" and "top rated community contributors".

  • How do you get firefox to automatically enter my username and password?

I am trying to use the password manager, firefox asked to save password I clicked remember, I checked the security option the password is remembered but firefos will not automatically sign in for me what is wrong?

    Maybe you have this issue:
In Firefox 30 and later NTLMv1 auth has been disabled, NTLM support on non-Windows platforms is now deprecated
In Firefox 31 support for NTLMv1 auth has been restored for secure connections only (Bug 1023748).
    *network.negotiate-auth.allow-insecure-ntlm-v1 = false
    *network.negotiate-auth.allow-insecure-ntlm-v1-https = true

  • No disconnect warning when multiple remote users use same username and password to logon to VM

I created a single user account to be used by multiple users to access a system consisting of multiple VMs. The problem is that when User #1 has an active session and User #2 attempts to log onto the same VM User #1's session is ended without
warning. Now if User #1 has an active session and User #2 attempts to log onto the same VM using different credentials a [Remote Desktop Connection] dialog displays alerting User #1 that User #2 wants to connect and gives an option to disconnect or stay connected.
Realizing that the latter preferred behavior is because the two Users are using different credentials I would like to know if the same preferred behavior of alerting the Users of active connections can be enabled for instances when both Users are using
the same credentials - perhaps by recognizing that their remote ips are different or something.

not sure if this fits your case exactly. there was another similar question asked in the forum and the solution was:
You may set this via group policy, for example, in the server's local policy using gpedit.msc:
    Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Connections\
Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session     Disabled

  • How do I stop Firefox from automatically filling in the spaces for my username and password on one of my password protected websites?

Firefox is automatically entering my username and password on my Sacramento State University secure password site. I am trying to get that function stopped. I do not want my username and password automatically entered in the spaces provided for log in. I want to manually enter that information myself each time I log in to that particular secure password protected site.
So far...I can not find a way to do that. All I find is a way to change my password. I do not wish to change my password. I just do not want it automatically entered for me.

Thanks guys...I did as you suggested and it worked! Thanks!
However...just want you all to know...a computer illiterate like myself had trouble finding which function on the menu bar to click on to find the options and security settings to "unclick." Eventually...I found the correct window.
    Thanks again...your advice worked!

  • When using SSL Word Files ask for username and password.

I have SharePoint Foundation 2013 setup and it works great.  I need to allow users access when they are not connected to our local network, so for testing purposes I added a domain signed certificate and assigned it to IIS on 443. Internally when
I try to access the site IE now ask me for a username and password and when I open a word file Word then ask me for a username password again. If it didn't do it in http why is it happening with https and how can I fix it?  Externally I know users will
have to login but they should have to only login in once right?

After doing some more research it seems that it is just not possible to use Windows authentication along with FQDN without being prompted for username and password in SharePoint.  Can anyone confirm this? I am sorry what a bad design of a program.
Did anyone think at Microsoft that organizations might want employees to work from outside of their network in the year 2013 using the username and passwords they already have.

  • Resetting username and password, but I have two iPhones using the same username and password. Can I delete the App Store user name on one device without affecting the other phone?

When we bought our daughter her iPhone I thought it would be a great idea for her to use my username and password for her App Store. As she is learning to download and search off apps, it appears that this May not hand been a good idea as the apps I have on MY iPhone, are showing as already downloaded and on our cloud. I'd prefer to change the username on her device, but in looking I am noticing that I will probably be deleting the username and password on both of our devices and then I will have to reset for both of us. Am I correct?

If you create an Apple ID for your daughter, signing out of the existing Apple ID with the iTunes & App Store on her iPhone will not change anything on your iPhone.
All apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
If she starts using her Apple ID to download apps, when there is an app update for an app on her iPhone that was downloaded with the current shared Apple ID, she will need to use that Apple ID and password to download the app updates.

  • Strange username and password in Mozilla saved passwords for chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)

What is chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase) ?
I checked my saved password list in Mozilla Firefox and I found two strange usernames for site: chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase) and chrome:weave (Mozilla Services Password). Is this username randomly generated or is it possible that some addin/application/malware automatically generates this username and password.
The username for both is "gjqsnhtjmmojlnmtepcdbiccdfrrerid"
Password for chrome:weave (Mozilla Services Password) is a password I use commonly so seems to be provided by me but the password for : chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase) is a combination of random letters(just like the username)
My issue is only that it should not be the work of any malicious content lying in my system which has reached my Mozilla Saved Passwords

chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase is the sync key that is used to locally encrypt your data before sending it to the Sync server.<br />
That key is automatically generated and changing the sync key will wipe all data stored on the sync server.<br />
It is good practice to have a backup copy of the sync key.<br />
The user name stored in the password manager is also generated, but you can always use the email address to get access to your sync account.
