SMP 3 with Multiple Agentry Applications

I know that with the current release of SMP 3.0 (SP03 PL2) there is no capability to create multiple Agentry applications under the same SMP server. Two question.
1) For now, is it possible to install SMP 3.0 on the same physical server but into a different folder (say instance 1 in "C:\SAP" and instance 2 in "D:\SAP") and have both services running two different Agentry applications? Or do I truly have to have two totally separate servers?
2) In the future, I've heard that a later release (SP04 according the the SMP 3.0 Overview webinar series) will allow for multiple Agentry applications to be defined within the same SMP server instance. Is this still the case for this functionality to be delivered in this Service Pack? If not this service pack, when?

Ed,
1) No, the installer will detect it was already installed and not allow you to install a second time. Given the ports used by the platform you could in theory run two instances at the same time if you changed all the ports (not documented).
On my development machine, after installing the base server I zipped up the MobilePlatform3 directory and then unzip it to create additional instances of the server as needed for different applications. However, the difference is I am only running one instance of the server at a time (to avoid any port issues).
2) Yes, this is still planned for SP04 targeted for release in September.

Reverse Proxy and Load Balancer for SMP 2.3 and Agentry Application

Hi Expert,
I'm putting in place a mobile solution composed by SMP 2.3 SPS 4 and SAP ECC 6.0. In the SMP 2.3 I created the agentry server and I have deployed my agentry application.
My SMP/Agentry infrastructure is composed by two servers therefore I need a load balancer for balance the load into the several servers. Furthermore I need to use a reverse proxy in my DMZ zone.
Based on what indicated in the SAP note "1904213 - SAP Mobile Platform Server Release Information" the Apache Reverse Proxy is not supported for Agentry clients. Agentry uses nginx for Reverse Proxy.
I also found the following document How-to-Guide for Reverse Proxy and Load Balancing in SAP Mobile Platform 3.x that explain how to set-up a reverse proxy and load balancer with nginx and apache.
Both the SAP note and the HOW to document are refereed to SMP 3.0 and not to SMP 2.3.
I would know if the NGINX must be used also for SMP 2.3.
Any suggestion/information is appreciated.

Multiple WorkShop applications and CM Control

Hello All:
This has probably been asked before, but we have a situation with multiple workshop applications that we would like to keep under the same package structure for Configuration Control purposes.
Right now we have two applications (Sales and Region, each being a separate workshop application) in CVS (CM Tool) under the following directory structure:
src/com/acme/Sales/SalesPortal/com/acme/sales/<Java, JSP, etc. files here>
src/com/acme/Region/RegionPortal/com/acme/sales/<Java, JSP, etc. files here>
Instead we would like to have one directory(package) structure:
src/com/acme/Sales/SalesPortal/<Java, JSP, ect. files here>
src/com/acme/Region/RegionPortal/<Java, JSP, ect. files here>
We don't want to combine the two applications into one WorkShop application, because of concurrent access/modification issues to the *.workshop file.
Is there a way to do this, short of combining .workshop files?

Remove Imported Agentry Application in SMP3

I have published a Production Agentry application (version 1-0-1). This created the appropriate "app.zip" file. I then went into the Management Cockpit and imported this new version. So now my SMP/Agentry has two applications under the "Application/Production" folder -- version 1-0-0 and version 1-0-1 that I just imported.
I made another application change and published out a new application version 1-0-2, and similarly imported it via the Management Cockpit. At this point I now have 3 applications in the "Application/Production" folder -- 1-0-0, 1-0-1, and 1-0-2.
I am 100% certain that all devices have connected and now have the latest 1-0-2 version downloaded to them.
What I want do is is remove the first two versions of the application so they don't get loaded by the SMP server (don't need to waste the memory for versions that will never be executed again). I've tried deleting the "1-0-0" and "1-0-1" files from under the "Application/Production" folder, then stopping/starting the SMP server. When I do this, the "1-0-0" and "1-0-1" versions re-appear.
I've tried delete the application versions (as described above) and deleting the "app-1-0-0.zip" and "app-1-0-1.zip" files, stopping/starting the SMP server. Same results -- all 3 version re-appear and get loaded into SMP.
I don't see anything in the Management cockpit to remove these "old" application.
How do I go about removing these so they do not get loaded up into the SMP server because I do not want that memory to be taken up for applications that will never again be distributed to a device?

This did not work. I exported the application. I deleted the application from the Cockpit. I modified the exported application ".zip" file to remove the older versions. I then tried to import it back into the Cockpit and it gives me an error saying "Import of application failed! Content of the file is not in expected format".
All I did was to remove the applications from the embedded "Application/Production" folder.
Fortunately I made a backup copy of the original export and tried to import that. It partially imported. The application name imported, but nothing for the "agentry.application" got imported. I had to stop the SMP service, delete the "agentry.application" folder (which didn't get deleted when I deleted the application from the Cockpit), then I could import the original one.
Is there something specific about how the exported application ".zip" file needs to be modified?

Error while deploying an Agentry application on SMP 2.3 Server

Hello Experts,
I am trying to deploy a customized SAPWM application on the SMP 2.3 server.
I am referring to the tutorial maintained at the following URL :http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43353
I have zipped the contents of the application folder (under Serverdev) and added the required DLLs and JAR files.
While deploying using SCC (Control center), I get an error which says "Application registration failed".
Under logs, I could find the following entry:

I also checked up another thread (Setup Work Manager on SMP2.3) on the same post, but the thread owner was able to resolve the issue after he stopped the server instance and deployed again. However, it didn't work for us.
Questions:
1) How can I export the application in ".agp" package?
2) How can we resolve the deployment error? The Agentry.ini contained within the package does have system connections section with HTTPXML, JavaBE and SQL DLL files.
Appreciate your help on the same.

thanks for your reply there.. We did get the app name as follows when we tried to deploy the application in SMP 2.3 "Even though it errored out saying - Unable to register the application"
D:\SAP\MobilePlatform\Servers\UnwiredServer\Repository\Agentry\default\com.sap.agentry.sapwm53
However we manually unzipped the agentry app into this folder as per instructions from agentry app deployment on SMP 3.0
What do you mean by "After your appname you should not have any other folder" - clearly if that is the case then we have "Development" folder and some additional folders beneath this.
Could you please suggest?

App-V 5 SP2 (RDS) application integration with multiple office versions - general question

So I have been testing Office 2013 with app-V 5 SP2 and the package size is a hefty 1+GB with Visio and Project thrown in and I am not convinced by the speed and efficiency of delivering office 2013 this way (shared content mode) so I am thinking of
pre-installing Office 2013 on my XenApp servers instead.
However, we have some applications that integrate with office 2007 as they are not yet certified with Office 2013. Am I right in thinking that if I package Office 2007 and add it to a connection group with the other application, then that app will use Office
2007 regardless of Office 2013 being installed on the local OS?

This depends on how it technically integrates with Office 2007. Without knowing, or testing, how that is done it is not possible to state which version will be used.

I have got problem in building a form with multiple tables.I have a main table with (20) columns and this main table is related to the other tables with the primary key-foreign key relation ship.My requirement is i have to build a form which has fields from many tables and all the fields are related to the main table using (ID) column.In that form if i enter ID field i have to get information from differnt tables.

I am no Apex expert, but with a situation as "complex" as yours, have you thought about creating a VIEW that joins these 7/8 tables, placing an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view to do all the business logic in the database, and base your application on the view?
This is the "thick-database" approach that has been gaining momentum of late. The idea is to put your business logic in the database wherever possible, and let the application (Form, Apex, J2EE, whatever) concentrate on UI issues,

Problems with multiple applications crashing or not opening.

My computer has issues with multiple applications, which mostly are connected to itunes/ilife. iPhoto, iWeb, Front Row and iTunes all crash at certain points, but iMovie opens fine, although I haven't tested anything within it other than playback. YouControlTunes (an iTunes controller) also has issues. Reinstalling the OS has made no difference, nor has reinstalling iTunes. I will try reinstalling iLife (again).
iTunes did work after reinstalling the OS the first time after trashing iTunes and iLife and other applications that used up hard drive space (was running low so wanted to make sure Mac OS X installed fine), but after reinstalling iLife and Firefox and other applications then iTunes stopped working again. Garageband and iDVD weren't reinstalled.
I shall try trashing the iTunes library.
Also, the application Mactracker and the installers for 1.0.4 & 1.0.5 of Age of Empires III did not work, so the problem is presumably not iLife.

There are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take.
Be sure you drive is not overly full. Rule of thumb would be over 85%.
Create a new User go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the apps in this new account, if they work the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
If the issue is systemwide then, you may be able to repair this with the The 10.6.3 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Webdynpro application with multiple DCs

Hi,
I have an application where it is splitted in to multiple DCs for the team development. Now at runtime there are navigation happenening across DCs, means on click of a button in view1 of DC1, it needs to call view2 of DC2. What is the best way to achive it? Is there a way to direcly call a DC component at runtime?

Hi Sujesh,
First I want to point out, that DCs do not communicate with each other. DCs are designtime constructs which comprise development entities with runtime and/or designtime relevance. Inter-DC calls are Inter-DC-object calls.
Is your question related with the problem how to communicate between Web Dynpro components of separate DCs? To answer this question you must know how to develop Web Dynpro applications based on using separate DCs. This is done by defining DC-usage relations based on Public Part Definitons. When these DC-relations are correctly set up you can use Web Dynpro entities from other child DCs in a parent DC as if these entites would be contained in the parent DC. The runtime dependencies (sharing references etc.) are defined automatically.
Regarding your "Best Design" question I reply with a simple but quite effective principle: "Favor DC-separation of Web Dynpro development entities!":
- Separate Web Dynpro components in separate DCs
- Separate Web Dynpro Models in separate DCs
- Separate Local Dictionaries in separate DCs
- Separate Web Dynpro Component Interface Definitions in separate DCs
- Seaprate reusable Web Dynpro components in seaprate DCs.

Issue with multiple application installation and server share

SCCM 2007 SP2 R3 ICP2
All servers W2K8R2
I am having an issue with software installs. When using a variable for multiple applciation installs, I get access errors when the applications go to install. It appears to be a multiple connection issue, but I can't figure out why.
I am using server shares for my DPs. The proper permissions are set. The servers (DP) are W2K8R2. I think it has to do with the way R2 handles the conenctions. I want to know if this is a known issue or if anyone has come accross
it.

Hi! I'm waking up this dead thread but I've got a *very* similar problem!
I've got a SCCM 2007 SP2 R3 installation on Win2008. All clients are in the same ConfigMgr-site. Multiple package deploy in the same site-boundary as the CM-server works excellent. (We've got three DPs in the same site-boundary as the
CM-server itself.)
Now, we have a new site-boundary with it's own Protected DP where multiple package deploy fails
but the same packages, being run from the task-sequnce works! So then the client can download, install and run the packages from the proteced DP just fine. All "single" packages install fine before the "Multiple Appliaction"-step.
I've tripple checked that we're running the same packages when we're installing Multiple Packages as we do in the Task-Sequence. And
the same Task-sequence with the Multiple Package installation step
works fine in our site-boundary where the ConfigMgr-server is installed.

I know that the TS checks package dependencies before executing the TS. That's not possible with Multiple packages since they are variable dependant. I think this is somehow related although it doesn't explain why my client can't authenticate properly.
The Network Access Account is a member of Domain Users and Domain Users have Read Access on the share and on the folder of the VAXCMDP01 DP - which should be identically configured to our other DPs closest to our ConfigMgr Server.
Any ideas?

Session cleanup issue with multiple Application servers

Hi ,
I am facing a strange problem with multiple application servers. The java Webdynro session does not get cleaned up completely when user closes the browser ( without using logoff ). On re-login it gets handle of old session and then fails for consecutive view on other webdynpro iviews with an invalid session error. It again starts working with a refresh event.
Any ideas/suggestion if you have seen something similar before ?

Hi Amit
It seems that issues is not server related, but caused by your client browser. I know, for example, that IE8.0 keeps user session even if two separate browser instances opened on the same client machine. IE 7.0 and lower behave differently - they are separate user sessions per browser instance.

What SMP Role is needed to create an Agentry application in SCC?

I'm in a SMP 2.3 SP3 (Patch 1) environment and I'm wandering what is the minimum security role that I need to give the development team for them to be able the create, update or import an Agentry Application.
Is the only solution a "SUP Administrator" logical role assignment?

Problem with multiple applications using one audio output

Hey there, I'm having issues setting up my 5.1 headset seen here (http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/x-tatic-digital) to work with multiple applications.
Right now I have audio streaming from a flash video, when I try run "$ speaker-test -c 6" I get the following error:
speaker-test 1.0.25
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
If I try open another application which uses this device, the first application has its sound cut off.
2 more things to note:
- My preference for setup would be audio output through S/PDIF and input through USB, with the USB output disabled (To not waste system resources).
- I unmuted all channels in ALSA, however when I ran the test only 2 channels seemed to be working (Front L&R), it may have been defaulting to the USB connection, in which case, that explains only 2 channels being in use, is there a method of setting the S/PDIF as default system wide?

Interesting, apparently 2 audio streams are working, however the console thing still doesn't work..?

Didn't last long, now flash crashes and html 5 doesn't work -.-

Flash only works when other audio is active, however it has constant popping sound. I went through the system logs to get the errors of when flash crashes, it's audio crashing it, here's the error:

We have R12.1.1 and db is 11.1.0.7 on redhat 5.3 ( 64 bit).

No. You cant link application tier with more than one database.

Remote Application with multiple computers multiple rooms

I am planing a whole-house music system and have played around with the Remote application. Seems to work fine in my setup with a MacBook Pro. Have several AiportExpress that I can see through REMOTE but they are not linked to speakers.
Here what I would like to do.
1) Control each room separately, so each could have its own music playing or multiple rooms playing having the same song. I think currently one would need to build more than one loop of AirportExpress's linked to the same speakers. With two loops one could access two different libraries on two computers and so have two different songs playing in 2 zones.
2) Control the loudness in each room. This could be a big problem. There is one master volume, but if one room is larger or has more speakers it could be much louder than the other rooms. So one would constantly play around with the volume when moving from room to room.
3) Use more than one iPod Touch or iPhone in one set up, so that all people in the house can control the music. I only have one iPhone so I have not had a chance to check this one out. Is it possible to have more than one controlling iPhone or iPod Touch?
Nice to haves
1) An alarm function with the time and song selected and with zero volume slowly increasing to a set value over a set time.
2) Cover flow on the iPhone or iPod Touch
3) Remote launching of iTunes from the iPhone or iPod Touch
Any suggestions or answers are welcome. Thanks for your help.

There are no post activities available in ConfigMgr. Either use dependencies (so that the post activities application/DT has a dependency to the application itself - which is not the best way to solve it imho) or use a wrapper (cmd, ps1, vbs etc) that
installs the application first and performs additional things afterwards.
