SMS ringtone problem after ios5

Hello everyone
I've been facing a SMS ringtone problem since ios5. When i recieve a SMS or imessage, it rings sequential twice or even more. (Just like when you recieve two sms at the same time)
If I restart my iphone, this problem disappears for sometime. It comes a while after, though.
Is it a bug or something? It's really annoying.
Thx in advance

Solved.
I've restored my iphone and set it up as a new iphone. I haven't been facing this problem since restore. Do not forget to restore it "as a new iphone". Do not backup from old.
Some tips for "restoring as a new iphone"
-iCloud would be helpful while getting your apps.
-Saving your camera roll photos to the pc then mailing them and saving them back in iphone can make your photo album as the same before.
-There are some free apps that can help you to back your contacts up.
-Change your iPhone name after restore. Otherwise iTunes may automatically backup from old.
Good Luck.

  • ITunes access problem after iOS5 upgrade

I just finished upgrading my iPhone 4 to IOS5.  Problem: my iTunes ID is embedded and I'm only prompted to enter my password.  My iTunes ID is not an email address and I can no longer access my account.  How can I change my ID in my phone?

Went down to the local Apple store and resolved my issues.  I was told that they had never had anyone come in with the nickname issue before.
    The fix:
DJ had me go to the iforgot.apple.com page (a very familiar page by this point).  Under the box where you would enter your Apple ID, there is a link "Forgot Your Apple ID?".  He had me click on it.
On the next screen, he had me enter my first name, last name and the email address that I thought was associated with my iTunes account.  You can enter several different email addresses, just in case you had several different email addresses that could have been used when you established your Apple ID.  I then clicked on 'Next'
On the next screen, I opted for the 'Answer Security Questions'  Authentication Method.
Answering the required questions allowed me to then enter my email address as my Apple ID and the new password that I had chosen.
After doing so, everything was as it should be!  I was able to update my apps that needed updating...AND... my $21.34 credit was back!  Thank you DJ at the Roseville, CA Apple store!

  • Winmail.dat : problems after iOS5 update...

Folks...  After updating to iOS5, I am finding that any JPG or pasted picture sent to me in e-mail does NOT appear on my iPhone4.  It is NOT simply a Microsoft problem, as is always stated.
If I start a mail (HTML) in Outlook, and paste an Image, and send it to my iPhone's Comcast Account, I get the winmail.dat attachment
If I start a mail (HTML) in Outlook, and paste and Image, and send it to my iPhone's Gmail account, it is read just fine and the image appears.  I have also copied my Comcast account, just to ensure the same mail....  and get the same winmail.dat result with my comcast account.
If I look at my Comcast mail account, in Outlook (Desktop), and online --- the same image is received fine and the image appears. The only place is does NOT appear is on the phone.
This seems to have something to do with how the iPhone interprets mail FROM Outlook.  There has HAD to have been a change in how this works, because it used to work just fine.
Someone at Apple:  I would appreciate a response on this.  It is very frustrating, and all signs are that it is an iOS5 thing.
    thanks
    Brandon

I did a little more searching, and found this solution on another Apple forum. It worked beautifully. It makes no sense, but who cares? It was easy and effective.
    Hope it helps!
    Yes, I did try that.
However I have now found the answer:
    http://galaxycow.com/blogs/vermyndax/2008/01/12/winmaildat-hides-in-your-autocom plete/
Once the entry for my home address was removed from the Autocomplete drop down list, everything went back to normal.

  • My problems after iOS5 iPhone 4

Like so many others, I've been having problems with my iphone after updating to iOS5 (I have iphone 4). Many users having been complaining about the quick battery loss but I'm also having serious issues with my phone heating up. Ever since I did the update my iphone has been giving me this warning that my phone can't be used before it cools down. Also it took about 3 hours for the battery to be fully charged and then I checked it in less than two hours and the battery was almoust finished plus it had the heating warning on.. even it wasn't used and it was just lying in my bag.
I've been trying to follow these different instructions that I've found from these discussions but so far no luck I was thinking of taking my phone to repare but I don't know if they can help with this kind of problem. But I'm relieved that I'm not only one with this problem.. but I hate it because I can't use my phone at all

don't charge it after it went off......leave it for 5~10 minutes to cool it down!!!!
and don't put your iDevices in hot temperature!!!! my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) took only 1 hour 40 minutes to fully charged it!!!!
    good luck dude

  • [SOLVED] SMS Conversation problem after transferring messages

    Hi,
After transferring my SMS messages from my Xperia Z to my new Z3c, received messages are added to the existing conversation, but the replies I send appear in a new conversation!  Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Chris
Update - It turns out that this was due to spaces being present in the mobile number in my contacts after I'd transferred them, I removed the spaces, and it fixed the issue.

This was driving me insane, thanks for pointing out the obvious! :-)

I have just updated my iPad 2 to ios5 yesterday. Everything was working fine until a couple minutes before when I couldn't click on any apps in the store. • First gen iPad having problems after iOS5 update

I have recently upgraded my first gen iPad to iOS5 (and subsequent update) and have had nothing but issues, sometimes to the point of making my iPad unusable with apps that take ten seconds to update (talking about even apple apps so it is not a third party issue), the system freezing up and not responding for well over ten seconds (example of this is while typing), and Safari crashing almost at least once an hour. I have rebooted the system numerous times and these issues have continued. I used to expect problems like this from Windows system, now it looks like I can expect the same from my Apple products as well.
Anyone else having issues like this?

Same problems here. Also browser issues, Safari (the worst), Atomic and Opera. Have tried every cache clearing and reset suggestion I can find. IOS 5 has been a royal pain. 5.01 didn't help anything here.

  • Problem after iOS5 with pairing iPhone with Car

I have a Lexus is250 which paired beautifully with my iPhone and I was able to play music from phone in my car.  Since the upgrade, I cannot.  I have "repaired" "Blue tooth audio", the radio in car "looks" like it is playing (you can use the controls on the car stereo to forward through playlist and it forwards on phone" but no sound comes out.  This worked perfectly fine before iOS.  Any ideas?  I've deleted and re-paired phone twice....

Same problem here with a 2011 Subaru Outback/Harman Kardon sound system. My iPhone 3GS used to work very well and auto-connect with the Harman Kardon system under iOS 4, but after upgrading to iOS 5 the iPhone looses connectivity each time I power the iPhone off and back on. It will keep connectivity as long as I do not do this. Turning the car off and back on works fine, connectivity re-establishes immediately. I even reset my iPhone and re-installed firmware and everything else - problem persists. • Purchased Ringtones gone after iOS5 install

I had purchased some ringtones from itunes months ago while using iOS4 and now they do not appear in iOS5.  In iTunes my phone shows a ringtone directory with my purchased ringtones, but the iPhone itself does not show any.  It only has the defaults.  Any help?

Im not sure how you can recover ringtones but for future use you can make ringtones for free now, http://www.ehow.com/how_5352779_make-ringtone-using-itunes.html gives you steps on how to do it.

  • Rington problems after upgrading device software

I just upgraded my 8230 with device software 4.6.1.284.  When it came back on it did not show ringtones that I had downloaded in the list.  They were still there but did not show up in the list.  They had bee saved on a memory card.  Now when I download a new one I have to do a battery pull to get it to show up in the list.  Any ideas?

read your memory card using the following link.
use Windows Explorer, and display hidden & system files.
on the memory card, delete all the files named BBThumbs.dat . There should be one in every non-empty folder. then open the media application and let the indexation work.

  • IPad problems after iOS5 update

Long process so I'll go through step by step.
I downloaded the iOS 5 update on Wednesday and backed up my iPad 1 (64gb, wi-fi) both seemingly without issue. Let iTunes do its thing and install the OS and restore my backup and while it seemed to update the software OK the backup failed. Tried again probably 10 times getting various errors (-35, -48, 4056xxx, not sure if those are exactly right but you get the idea) so I decided to delete the iOS 5 file from my computer, restore to factory settings and try downloading, installing and restoring again but got the same problems.
So I bit the bullet and accepted that somewhere in the backup the file may have been corrupted and tried to set it up as a new iPad with iOS 5. Got all my apps synced, but when it goes to sync my music/movies/etc. it will just stop and iTunes will just eject the iPad itself.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm not too worried about the restore as I can recreate my home screens and sign back into the apps that require it, I just want to get everything back on there.
EDIT: All this on a Mac running the newest versions of both Lion and iTunes.

  • SMS Alerts Not Ringing on 3GS After iOS5 Upgrade?

    Hi folks,
Odd issue with SMS ringtones after upgrading to iOS5. Despite the phone not being in silent mode and a text message tone being set up, my phone does not play the new text tone when I receive a new iMessage (seems to work for standard SMS messages though). This is for when the phone is locked, by the way; I know that there are no sound alerts configurable for the main notification area.
This is annoying as it seems to only pop up an alert on the lock screen without actually giving me any audio notification. So if my phone's in my pocket or even if I'm just not looking at it, I don't know that I've gotten a new message.
Any idea what I might have configured wrong?

Can you explain what you mean by a full restore? Do you mean wiping the phone and restoring from iTunes?

  • Strange Calendar sync problem after migrating to iOS5

    Hello all,
I posted my problem as an "me too" reply to somebody else's thread but think it got a bit lost there.
Since I can't solve this problem I decided to make a new thread.
    The problem:
After upgrading my iPhone4 to iOS5 I have a strange calendar syncing issue such that existing entries from one calendar (I've got two, see below) are duplicated on the other .... but only on the iPhone, not on the calendar server (Lotus Notes) itself!
As I couldn't find a normal solution to this problem (already removed the complete Lotus Notes traveler account from my iPhone and reinstalled it again, to no use: the duplicates pop up again) I finally decided to start removing the duplicate entries on my phone. To my surprise however they popup again!!!!!
I added a new entry to the original calender to see whether that one would popup in the other as well but this didn't happen.
It looks to me it must be something wrong on my iPhone as the "duplicates" do not show up in the calender database on the server (using Lotus Notes PC client) nor its replicas.
    The configuration:
I sync with two calendars on my iPhone:
    - gmail calendar for my private
    - lotus notes server (traveler exchange) for my work.
The gmail calender also syncs with my desktop client (outlook 2010) via a small application "gSyncit".
This all worked like a charm on iOS4.
No matter where I modified, deleted or added entries (not only calendar, also contacts and mail) it all stayed perfectly in sync!
Does anybody out here noticed the same and/or has a solution to this?
BTW: I haven't activated iCloud for the calendar/mail/contacts (yet) ...

    OK,
I found out what was wrong myself.
In the end it turned out that it had nothing to do with the iOS5 upgrade itself.
In case somebody else stumbles accross this very same problem, here's what was going on:
    - Within the latest lotus notes client (on PC) the user has the possibility to display (read-only) external calendar contents (e.g. google's calendar).
    - When setting this up you need to supply your external calendar's login/password information and next to that
    - also have the possibility to select "View this calendar when offline or on a mobile device"
It was this setting (which I probably accidentally enabled) causing the "issue". Deselecting this option made my duplicate entries disappear on my phone.
