So bitterly disappointed Apple

Afternoon All,
Today I had an experience I feel should be shared with the like minded folk on these forums in the hope you don't make the same stupid mistake I have.
Last year I upgraded my old G5 MacPro for a shiny new Intel MacPro with new LCD monitor and some more Apple bits and pieces I won't bore you with the details but all this gear as you are aware costs a pretty penny. I am a Graphic Designer who has been a strong advocate for the use of Mac for the past 15 years (first Mac was a Preforma 5320) and have owned many apple desktops/laptops computers since. I am also a lecturer in graphic design/multimedia and have had two labs of MP's installed in the past few years. When one of the hundreds of students that have been through my door ask which hardware to reccommend, you know what the answer would invariably be "apple is the only choice for the creative professional"
Since purchasing the latest LCD display (beautiful looking piece of kit BTW) after 6 months of light use the power supply failed, inconvenient, but fixed after a month when returned to the Apple store Chermside, Brisbane. Then last week the monitor developed a static buzz and failed again, so back to the apple store Chermside again where after a long wait to see a genius I was told the the LCD had failed was now 3 months out of warranty. The manager kindly informed me that I could have the display replaced for a second time for the same price as the original cost, how kind. I had this great piece of kit for 1 year 3 months and it was a write off and apple showed me the door.
The best part is the manager of the Apple Store, Chermside, when I politely and camly expressed my sadness, dissapointment and disbelief at the poor service and requested at least he could do is help me pack the now written off, though still heavy display into the box so I could take it away said quote "I was Fu*k*ng trying to help you" promtly clicked his fingers for a genius to help pack the box. As this was going on another new apple customer walked out the door with rapturous clapping from the apple staff. Salt in wound.
As the title indicates, I am so disappointed in the customer service that apple have provided and feel so foolish to have thought that threre would be any reciprocal loyalty from such a monsterious global faceless brand. What an idiot I have been.
No longer, I will never recommend another apple product to business, suppliers, co-workers, students friends or family again and put it down to lessons learned..
Good luck all,
Steven

Sales reps are not told in advance of any new products. Generally Apple employees are not allowed to speculate on unannounced products, so I'm rather surprised he said anything at all, though with thousands of employees any company is likely to get at least one person who will say something incorrect or inappropriate.
Regardless, if you just got the iPad on March 4th and you got it from an Apple Store, you have fourteen days from the date of sale to return it, so just take it back. You may be able to negotiate with the store manager about any possible restocking fee and be able to get all your money back, though of course I can't guarantee that. If you purchased from a dealer, than that dealer's return policy, if any, would apply.
By the way, you're not communicating with Apple here. We're all just your fellow users.
Regards.

I am disappointed apple assistance in italy, kindly can you help me?

All you can do is take it to your local service for replacement again, I'm afraid. This topic has been discussed on here before, and some people have taken in multiple ipads for replacement and either given up on it, returned it for money back, or just decided to live with it.

  • Hi there, since I upgraded my 5s to 8.0.2, I never haven't been able to download any of my purchased applications, about 800!, I read many pages , reset, restarted, restored, ... 1000 times, but all apps have been waiting, very disappointing apple!

Since I bought this device I enjoyed it, everywhere I suggested it to my friends and co-workers. Until I upgraded its iOS from 7.1.2 to 8.0.2. The battery usage is as quickly as a Ferrari, no applications of previously purchased can be re-downloaded (I had to restore it and I lost all of them during upgrading). Honestly they really disappointed me. I have done any offer I read and saw on webpages, it's my same ID and nothing has changed. I reset all settings, network settings, used another Wi-Fi, used 3G, synced with my itunes on my laptop, and solutions you can think about during these couple of weeks. I expect apple to do something for the loyal customers which prefer their great company to another ones. Thanks so Much.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more.  And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should.  On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much.  I will post a note in the app store to let them know.  I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

  • Disappointing - Apple TV Lacks Dolby digital

It is disappointing that apple tv lacks dolby digital sound. What is the point of watching a home theater movie in High Def without DD 5.1 They need to resolve this issue to be successful IMHO. Any other thoughts?

Supposedly the hardware of the Apple TV is capable of Dolby Digital and 5.1 (or even 7.1) surround sound. That is it will pass through such signals to the optical out.
The real problem is that QuickTime (and remember the Apple TV is running Mac OS X and QuickTime) has very poor to no support for such 'high end' audio standards.
Yes you can pass a 5.1 encoded audio file in WAV format (or possibly AIFF format) to the Apple TV and it will then pass it unaltered to the optical out, which is connected to your AV Receiver and you will get surround sound. But WAV and AIFF are audio only standards, you cannot use them for movies.
The nearest you can currently get for video in QuickTime is to have 6 AAC channels in a H.264 file. However very few AV Receivers support this sort of audio.
Basically QuickTime is the problem, and until it has much better support for Dolby Digital etc. there is absolutely no point improving the movie files on the iTunes Store since QuickTime (and hence Apple TV) will not be able to play them. Even the QuickTime MPEG2 component is no better.
Interestingly, Front Row 2.0 in Leopard now has the ability to play VIDEO_TS folders (via the Apple DVD Player framework). This means you can in Front Row play surround sound and even subtitles for 'movies' stored in VIDEO_TS folders on your hard disk (that have been ripped from DVD). This works because Front Row is using DVD Player and not using QuickTime.
Note: QuickTime even QuickTime 7.2 in Leopard has for all intents no support for subtitles either.
All the above makes a Mac mini running Front Row a much better solution than an Apple TV (although much more expensive).
Apple really need to fix surround sound and subtitle support in QuickTime urgently, even Windows Media Player does a better job!!
I did read an article recently decrying Apple (and others) for leading to demise of 'audiophile' quality. That is the proliferation of MP3 and other compressed formats over CD quality sound (I personally use Apple Lossless which is CD quality). Likewise currently Apple TV and iTunes force the downgrading from movies with digital surround sound to merely old fashioned stereo.

  • I have updated my iphone 4s to ios 6.1.3 and the batter drains completely in a few hours. The same is hapenning to my my daughters phone which I upgraded at the same time. Very disappointing Apple. This is a serious issue and there is no help.

I have updated my iphone 4s as well as my daughters iphone 4 to ios 6.1.3. After the upgrade, both of our batteries drain very fast and in a few hours. Last nite, I slept with the phone at 90% charge at around 11:00 PM and this morning by 6 AM it is compltely drained.
I tried various things including a restore but doesnt look like it works.
This is very frustrating and waste of time and feel trapped as I cannot go back to my old iOS version which was working fine. And it is a shame on Apple to do this to customers like me who have so many Apple Devices at home. For an 800 dollar device, if I have to go through this kind of problems, this would be the last one I purchased.

Thank you wjsten for your soon reply. Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty. Do you have any idea how can I fix it? Do you think it's a software issue?

  • I'm disappointed, Apple.

It seems as though Apple has put its rivalry with Google ahead of making an effort to please its own customers. I can't believe I fell for the hype and updated to iOS 6, especially with this sorry excuse for a maps app. Joke's on me. This is awful. Please do something about this, it's not what I paid for.

Let me start this by saying that I cannot, for love nor money, work out how to start a new topic. I can't find the appropriate buttons anywhere, so I am shamelessly using this thread, as it seems similar to my own problem.
I got my ipod shuffle just under two years ago, and have had literally no problems with it at all in that time (though a few irritating experiences with itunes).
Last night, out of nowhere, it made a funny noise, somewhere between a click and fizzing sound. A very pale amber light came on, just below where the green light is. I turned it off and on again, and after about 15 seconds it worked again.
However, it started back from where it had started the last time, and after about 8 minutes or so, the same thing happened. It was at the same point in the same song, so I attempted to skip past it; same thing happened. I even tried going backwards, or putting it to play in order and doing it that way, but nothing seemed to work.
When I got home I restored/reset it to the original settings, and attached it to my laptop speakers so I could leave it playing and see if it happened again. It didn't, so I did a bit of skipping around, backwards and forwards, in both modes, and it was absolutely fine.
This afternoon I took it out with me when I went to the shops, and it happened again. Once again, when I turned it off and on again, it returned to where it had started last time, and refused to go past a certain point. After a bt of experimenting, I've established that it will play for slightly longer if I don't skip at all, but it will die within about 20 minutes either way.
It's completely normal with iTunes and my laptop, there are no problems at that end at all.
I'm currently resetting it again, but does anyone have any suggestions for what I could try if it doesn't work again?

  • I'm very disappointed Apple

Up until iTunes 7.0 I would have rated the software 10/10, now it rates barely a 1/10, that's when it works. Come on Apple we need an urgent patch, please

Windows XP, Service Pack2, iTunes 7.00.70
I've performed all the solutions proposed in the iTunes support article but unfortunately none of them seems to work. I have a SB Audigy, I've turned off EAX, the iTunes SoundEnhancer, I have the latest firmware and DirectX.
Actually this occurs only when I play .mp4 files (not with .mov's) in QuickTime and .m4a files (not with .mp3 or .wav either) in iTunes.
What's also a bit odd is that this problem occurs only in version 7 of iTunes, I've never had such issues with previous versions (iTunes 4, 5 or 6). In fact I thought of iTunes being so reliable, easy to use and capable of playing a sound of such a high quality that I've already imported my entire CD collection in .m4a/aac. Indeed Dolby's AAC codec, designed for iTunes, is a state-of-the-art sound processing technology.
I don't want to swich to any other player since I've come to love iTunes so much, and I also have a cute iPod I love even more
I wish you could eventually investigate this issue Apple since I suppose there are other Windows users who have similar problems, in particular with the version 7 of iTunes.

  • HT5567 When I try to update my iPod touch, it says 'not connected to the Internet' when I am! Disappointment, apple!

Title explains. Also, I tried disconnecting it and then reconnecting it, but no luck. I am writing to you on my iPod touch(5th gen ) so as you can see it has Internet access.

Try updating the iPod touch again.
A few people in this thread say the problem isn't happening anymore.

  • My Ipod is dead, basically. I'm disappointed, Apple. :(

I got a 1st generation Ipod shuffle for my birthday a couple years ago. It worked fine, until I downloaded Itunes 7.
After the update, whenever I plugged in my Ipod it would flash orange, and I would have to disconnect it whhile it was still flashing.
I did this twice, and tried connecting again, but nothing happened. There's no lights and it doesn't come up in My Computer or Itunes.
I'd use the Ipod reset program, but the Ipod has to connect first, which it doesnt't.
    Help?

Let me start this by saying that I cannot, for love nor money, work out how to start a new topic. I can't find the appropriate buttons anywhere, so I am shamelessly using this thread, as it seems similar to my own problem.

  • MacBook Japanes keyboard issue (and very poor Apple customer service)

I AM A BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED APPLE CUSTOMER / USER.
Over the past 3 years I have been a loyal purchaser and user of Apple products. I have bought a PowerBook G4 17", 2 Airport Extremes, 2 Airport press, 2 Ipods, 2 Nanos, 1 Shuffle, Aperture, various accessories and more recently a black MacBook.
I have relocated to Japan with my job in the past few month where I purchased my MacBook from an official large retailer (Yodobashi in Tokyo) because I was buying many other household items at the same time. My laptop works beautifully but is equipped with a Japanese keyboard (katakana) which is proving very confusing for all non Japanese users (incl. myself).
I visited the Apple flagship store in Ginza (Tokyo)to share my request. I was informed that they could swap the keyboards but only for laptops purchased in the flagship store. I believe that my Apple product merits the same level of customer care as an Apple product purchased in that store.
With this in mind, I am still seekigng a solution to my issue and would be grateful for some help. I believe that as a loyal customer and an English speaking user, I am entitled to being able to swap my keyboard (particularly as the service is provided).
Does anyone have any useful hints as to how I get my keyboard swapped (by Apple preferably to avoid voiding the warranty).
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   x

    Hi desalaberry.
    Welcome to macbook forum.
I am not to familiar with Japan authorized service center and their apple store policy, you also can check this:
    http://www.apple.com/jp/store/english/
    Keyboard and Mac OS Language
Your Mac can be ordered with an English language (U.S.) style keyboard, or Japanese - the choice is yours. The Mac OS X operating system supplied with your Mac is multilingual so can be set up in English and a large range of international languages.
If your macbook still returnable, just return that to the original store and order one with english layout on apple store at Ginza or other near you:
    http://www.apple.com/jp/retail/business/
    (scroll down to bottom)
Other way is to buy wired or wireless english layout mac keyboard and connect that to your macbook.
Hope ypu can talk it out with them.
    Good Luck

  • Ipod Touch - White Screen Lock Out - Apple response poor/process inflexible

    Hi
I have 2 Touchs and one has the random white screen issue. Screens goes grey`white and there's nothing you can do, till what seems like it needs to be recharged. i haven't had this happen when at home and near the 'master dock' .
I see thats its a prob that is more and more common, and have also seen on other forums that Apple are acknowledging it and in some cases have been providing freebies as sweeteners as well (allegedly).
So first - does anyone have any 'fixes' - other than what I have seen which is a replacement?
And secondly this is my 'Apple Service experience so far'
I called Apple UK support on Thursday morning, and pressed the options for Ipod and then Touch.
A woman answered and as soon as I told her my issue she advised she was IPHONE SUPPORT ONLY as that was section I had come through to and could not help me. I asked to be put through to relevant help section.
On hold for a few mins then line went dead.
Called back - making sure i pressed Ipod Touch options - in case it was user error first time - (it wasn't BTW) anyway got put through to IPHONE support again. This time the woman agreed to help, although i shall temper that by saying that my perception was that she started that day and had a script of 'if x do y' questions.
I explained the issue and that I had carried out web research. She was very polite but asked me questions I had already answered in my pre amble - i.e. screen is locked out, no response from buttons etc - but I was still asked what happens when you press the power button. Anyway I stuck with it - she then asked what firmware I had, and i advised I just upgraded to 1.2.
Ah thats the problem - you need to upgrade to LEOPARD (I have Tiger). That annoyed me as clearly thats rubbish and was really her ' ad libbing' I explained I had 2 touchs and other was fine.
She consulted a colleague and suggested I either send it in or make an appt at my local Apple store. Thats when it really went down hill...
More disappointed at the process, I called my local store (Regent Street - London) and was advised that the Touch would be replaced under warranty - but that I needed to make an appt to have that done, and no they couldn't make an appt on line (you are warned that up front in the recorded message before you get to speak to anyone). This I find odd - two people from Apple advise I can get a replacement under warranty, yet I have to make an appt - thats not good service.
As i am nearby, I decide to go to the Apple store anyway. I get same story and ask to speak to the manager. He is very well trained. He says all the diplomatic things, he agrees unit will be replaced under warranty, but says I have to see a technician - but I cant until tomorrow at earliest.
What then follows is a discussion about the process - his argument is that it allows the customer to attend at a time that suits them (but it suited me NOW - I was nearby). In reality the converse is true you can only chose a slot that suits apple.
The manager, stated that there are two diff stocks of goods. Items for sales and items for replacement. I suggested that he went to the replacement pile and provided one from that. NBo go - the technical dept could only do that.
I agree that booking for TECH SUPPORT is a great idea, but for a product replacement under warranty - especially when 3 people (and user forums) had advised this would be the case - this is not good service at all. The manager looked at me and uttered platitudes along the lines of ' thats your opinion', ' you are entitled to think that' - all of them verging on patronising. he even went as far to say that customers like being able to book a slot - erm - they have no choice!
He advised he 'would take my views on board' and would 'pass them on to the manager' - he was in fact the deputy manager. I left my details and explicitly asked for her comments - needless to say I am still waiting.
So i feel like I have fallen out with a close friend. I have been an Apple convert for 2 years now and this is our first major falling out. I am annoyed, as a customer, at being treated like this and forced into such a rigid system, and bitterly disappointed that a company that has such a a wonderful end user experience in terms of the products themselves and the sales side should treat loyal customers (in fact any customers) this way when trying to dal with faulty goods!
So, anyone have any thoughts - agree/disagree - who can I voice this to in Apple - the store doesn't seem to care past lip service!
I will also try to repost this on the general area if there is one
    Rgds
    Michael

    Hi,
I used to work at an Apple Store so I have 2 summers of customer service experience under my belt. Let me just say that, yes, I empathize. Some of the store policies are ridiculous, which is partly why I left the company. Well, ok no, I just like to say that that's why I left. I'm actually a student.
Anyways, whoever told you that you can't make an appointment at the Genius Bar was WRONG. Shame on them. Go to this website (it's just apple.com/uk/retail (and Regent Street's site specifically) and on the right hand side there's a column for you to click Genius Bar Reserve.
    http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/regentstreet/week/20071118.html
Here's the entire gist of the store policy. The store is obligated to give you a new iPod Touch if there's a manufacturer defect within 2 weeks of your original purchase. You'll still need a Genius Bar appointment, but all they do is take a look at it, confirm that it's a defect, and they'll return it for you (& they'll label it as DOA - Dead on arrival), and give you a new one. Easy.
I'm guessing you are outside of the 14 day period which is causing you all the trouble. So now we're talking about the year warranty. So you got your replacement iPod touch. Should there still be a defect in your replacement, you still have 14 days from the day you received THAT iPod touch to get a new one. There's a chance that if you talk to the manager (a different one and there are several), he'll hook you up with a brand new iPod touch, without having to go through replacement protocol.
The manager you talked with sounds like a jerk to me, and believe me, I hate it when Apple employees try to think theyre "all that." We student employees used to laugh at how seriously some employees took it. But really, those guys are there to help you and give you solutions, at least that's the company line. With that in mind, demand them to do what's right. I wish I could actually help you. I used to take care of people in situations like these all the time.
    Good luck.

  • What is happening Apple

I Have backed all Apple products and am one of your top fans and promote everything apple, this update however has been an eye opener, Apple products are synonymous with quality and high end functionality, so when I did the update it felt like I had returned the dark ages, my iPad 3 is now super slow instead of being super fast, apps crash regularly this includes safari and the office apps such as pages and numbers, typing is shocking and delayed, the top bar showing my network and battery dims well the rest of the screen is lit up, I have had to reboot my device a few times already, opening PDF files is a joke, I honsetly can say that I am bitterly disappointed, to make matters worse you are showing a 65 % increase in app crashes, to the pureist, when it comes to touch technology you are the leader, however this update has taken you back a few rungs on that ladder, Clean your doorstep before you bring out new enhancements as getting this sorted out is an issue on its own.

Apple is not here, this is a user to user forum.
So because you have issues the update automatically is a failure?
Over 30 million devices updated to iOS 8 do you think anywhere remotely close to even 1% of that is experiencing issues?  No, the fact is the Update was quite successful in millions and millions of devices.
I updated an iPad 2, an iPad Mini, and an iPhone 5 without any issues. Does automatically mean the update is flawless of course not. But if close to  30 million other users updated without issues, it stands to reason the update may be o.k.
Yes a few, under maybe a few thousand devices have suffered some issues. A large percentage of those have been resolved by going through a few troubleshooting steps.
The fact is, its impossible to anticipate 100% of the issues or circumstances a user may encounter while updating.
For your particular problems, and since you have already rebooted the iPad a few times I will suggest a Reset to the Settings as the first step, Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings.  The iPad should reboot.
And If that still does solve the issues, try a Restore.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
This has solved for many the slowness an unresponsiveness issues that have been reported.

  • How does apple want me to create a DVD to play on my DVD player from iMovie? iDVD did not come with my iMac.

I have created several home movies in imovie and am now ready to burn them to DVDs that family members can play on their DVD players. How am I supposed to do this? iDVD did not come with my imac. How does apple want us to do this? Thanks.

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it, and how do I install it?
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. Some purchasers of new iMacs have reported that if you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone to Apple, they may send you a free copy of iDVD. Stating that they would return their brand new Mac unless they received a copy of iDVD worked for some, but that is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple.
Also, you can complain bitterly via Apple’s Feedback link, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between burning DVDs and distributing home movies by other means. You may feel that Apple should not dictate how you destribute family videos or photos to distant relatives and friends, and should not assume that every user is prepared to pay for the excessive bandwidth usage charged by ISPs for huge downloads from the App Store:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or that comes with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. As there is no satisfactory substitute for iDVD Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.
It is worth noting that the version of iDVD 7 included with iLife 11 only includes themes from iDVD 5-7. If you want all the older themes you should buy iLife 9, which has the same version of iDVD 7 but with all the themes, and none of the iDVD 7 updaters available from Apple Downloads contain them.
Currently the only certain way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
    https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-21006826-20751 4/Installer001.jpg
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
    https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-21006826-20748 0/Pacifist001.jpg
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
But even though you can still buy iLife 9 or 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
When you try to install iDVD you may see a notice come up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March 2012, because Apple have withdrawn the license to it can no longer be used.
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After installing iDVD reset the time back to the correct time on your Mac.
You may be to use able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  Just click on the Continue button and it should work as expected, but for some it will not continue unless the date is  set back.
    Additional comments:
Apple has clearly indicated in the newest iMacs, Mac mini and Retina Display MacBook Pro that it plans to phase out optical disc drives as soon as possible across the board, providing an external USB drive as an option for users who need one but which is not universally compatible with all Macs.
Users increasingly have fewer opportunities to use optical drives, as the bulk of third party software is now available as a digital download either directly from the vendor or through Apple's App Store. but not all. Apple also sees digital distribution as the future of music and movies, as exemplified in Apple TV, which has never included an optical drive.
The company has never supported any new HD optical disc formats on its products, including Microsoft's ill fated HD-DVD or Sony's Blu-ray format, despite initially being involved in the Blu-ray standardization process. Instead, Apple has put its resources behind developing increasingly higher definition audio and video formats that it can distribute electronically through its own iTunes Store.
And if you think Microsoft are any better, their latest Windows 8 operating system will not play DVDs, or burn them, unless customers buy an extra upgrade, the company has announced:  http://www.gizmag.com/windows-8-no-dvd-playback/22443/
In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that. Flexibility and intuitive use of a computer seems to be a thing of the past.
The latest anorexic iMacs do not even include a CD drive (or Firewire)! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of optical media - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Can't update my Apple TV 2

I  am unable to update my Apple TV 2 - it gets a few minutes in, screen goes blank, Apple logo comes up, the ATV2 completely restarts, and this happens over and over anyime I try. My wifi network is absolutely solid (2 iphones, 1 ipad, an Imac and a Roku box that NEVER lose signal), so it seems to be a power problem with ATV (though, if Im satisfied not to update it, I can watch a two hour movie on Netflix on the ATV with no problems - but it can't stay stable enough to update over 15 minutes - so strange.)
I wanted to update it because it often "drops" my home sharing from my imac, and often just blacks out and resets itself. I bought a micro-usb cable, unplugged all other cables from the ATV2, and connected it to 3 different computers, but it never showed up in itunes on any of the three macs - the light on the ATV did blink consistently, so it was getting power via USB, but it wouldnt show up in itunes, so it was impossible to update/restore.
This has been the least reliable and ONLY disappointing Apple product I've ever purchased - any helpful hints?

Wow - either no one else has had this particular problem (despite the myriad of problems reported with the Apple TV here) or I've been black-balled for my "least reliable" and "disappointing" comments! Tough crowd!
    Roku it is!

  • HT203254 Very disappointed with Mac.

Very disappointed with Mac.  My computer was recalled and was not notified about the recall and now Mac can't replace my MBP Logic board and can seem to do anything about it.  Very disappointed.
