So far, I have downloaded firefox 4.0 TWICE...does that mean I have firefox 8.0? AND WHYDOES IT KEEP ASKING ME TO DOWNLOAD FIREFOX 4?

DETAILS? OK OJ, here's the details. Firefox has crashed a b'zillion times (I'm an artist, Jim, not a mathematician!) so when they said download 4.0, I wasn't sure about it. But I did it.
And, when I turned my attention to what it had given me, I found that it had absconded with ALL of my internet passwords that weren't supporting my specific name. Except that confounded BonemanHA which is what Google used to screw up my account at youtube. (thanx, again, googz! I know you're watching all of this) but, that's besides the point.
Then it crashed again.
Froze and crashed.
I'm starting to think the firefox is nuzzling the arctic poles.
I swear on a stack of bibles...and lightning comes down and kicks my ass.
I calm down, the next day I pretend nothing has happened, go about re-establishing my passwords (is this too long? Will someone come out of he electronic closet in my computer to tell me if it is? I HATE writing a bunch of words only to look up and see it stoped at Dear so'n'so,)
Anyway, now it asks me if I want to download 4.0....
I should mention now that I LOVE to bring laughter to folks. Times are too hard on paople as it is, and a small mission of mine is to bring a smile, however small to people that i can. My smiley face is a lil hat guy with a big smile:

But when it regularly asked if I would download fire 4.0 I was more of

so. I downloaded it again, because like everyone else, I get tired of the nagging whiney attitude.
Only, it didn't download the second time, either.
It DID...
but, it didn't.
I know it was a partial because my pretty birds are gone. That was what I chose for the top bar.
And...before you get too much of a laugh going about a guy having the pretty birds up top, consider this...
I'm 6'5", 225 pounds, and although 60, can still cut and chop a cord of wood a day for burning in the Winter.
But, it doesn't matter, does it?
The birds have flown the coop. (maybe they're pigeons?)
I still get asked to download 4.0
some of my passwords are still a mystery to me.
(I use different passwords at different places...just a security dealio, eh?)
So...dunno what else I can say.
It still freezes occasionally (once a day) but that beats crashing two and three times a day.
I get done with shipping out error reports, too, because sometimes it's my fault.
Impatiently banging on the keypad doesn't normally get ANYTHING done, but, it worked once...so I do it again.
Sometimes.
Well, I see there's more questions below, so, I best be moving along.
I'm almost sure that I'm leaving behind a mad techie who's sure I wrote too much
or
someone sitting there getting a good laugh.
Hope for the laugh, but...could you explain this to a tech, please?
I'm not so much a tech.... more of a user.
(ps...mixt reviews on Tron 2 It was good to see a second try but I think it went askew with a mismanaged plot line)

Please do the following.
Click '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''. The option to update should appear and version 3.6.17 should download and install.
However, sometimes things go pear-shaped and you get version 3.5.19. If that happens, repeat the same steps to update to 3.6.17.
Once you have 3.6.17 installed, you'll get the opportunity to update to the current version which is 4.0.1 ''Please don't do that for the moment because you first of all have to update your plugins''. To do the latter, please do the following.
Go to http://www.java.com/en/ and install the latest version of Java.
Update Adobe Shockwave for Director via http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
