SOAP and SRT services

Hi all,
I have understood that the services under the node /default_host/sap/bc/soap apply to RFC function modules (thus, including BAPI) and that the list of available RFC FMs were visible at the URL :
http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/webservicebrowser/search.html
This is what I would call the "6.20 approach" or the out-of-the-box as stated in /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/12/29/service-enable-your-sap-application-component
You call the wsdl11 service with the name of the FM and get the WSDL file
Then, you can call the rfc service to actually call the Web Service.
But, as far as the "6.40 approach", with the creation of the Virtual Interface and the Web Service Definition, is concerned, is there a similar URL, I mean a BSP where you can have the list of Web Services ?
Thanks for your answers.
Best regards,
Guillaume

Well, I just found out these 2 weblogs by Thomas Jung. I should have started from there... thanks Thomas !

But still, if someone has an idea about how to get the list of SRT services without specific development... ?

• SMP3.0 Kapsel support for SOAP and REST services(not ODATA) and Symbian platfrom

Dear Experts,
Can we develop apps using Kapsel on SOAP and REST services?
As phonegap supports Symbian platform, will Kapsel apps work on Symbian???
Regards
Srini

I think you should reconsidering the Phonegap supports Symbian part.
As Phonegap is based upon Cordova, PG basically supports what Cordova supports. Cordova dropped Symbian a while ago. The latest release does not support Symbian: Apache Cordova
The Platform section does not mention Symbian, but does some "exotic" ones like WebOS, Tizen, FirefoxOS.
Same for PG: PhoneGap API Documentation -> no Symbian
Sure, PG 2.x listed Symbian, but 2.x is based on another architecture than PG 3 and Cordova 3. As Kapsel is a set of SAP plugins for Cordova 3, Kapsel needs Cordova 3.
As long as Symbian is not in the list of platform Cordova runs on, there won't be Kapsel for Symbian.

• SOAP and XML

How can I setup SOAP and web services to POST and GET XML file from the third party application?
What document can I read? Thanks!

If you are an Oracle9i JDeveloper user, you might want to try the Oracle9i JDeveloper guide which gives you a simple helloworld sample to get you going. This uses the SOAP environment that is automatically configured by default on OC4J. See:
http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/jdev/files/JDevRGuide.zip
The Web service demo shows how an EJB can be published on OC4J as a Web service - basically by configuring a SOAP-aware servlet that front-ends your Java/PL/SQL component.
For a more complete example check out the sample one that just came out the other day covering stateless and stateful Java classes, an EJB and a PL/SQL stored procedure:
http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/web_services/
For a set of examples of Web services that ship with OC4J, download OC4J and look in the directory:
<OC4J_Home>\j2ee\home\demo\web_services\
and take a read of the readme.txt. The area of OTN describing the OC4J Web services content is at:
http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/
If you are looking for the Apache SOAP environment that ships with Oracle9iAS, simply look for the soap.ear file that is on the distribution. Normally this is located in <OC4J_Home>/soap/webapps/ but it might be easier to search the OC4J directory structure because its location changed between the 1.0.2.2 release and Release 2 now available here as noted above.
Hope this gives a start.
Mike.

• Apex and web services

Hello everyone,
I've started looking into SOAP and web services, and have used Tyler Muth's tutorial to email and FTP BI publisher reports using APEX.
I was wondering if it is possible to create an on-screen report (i.e. an interactive report) using a web service?
I've managed to return values to form fields using web services...I was always under the impression, from before I looked at web services, that creating an on-screen report using data from a web service was one of the main things you could do....
Please could someone let me know if this is possible, and roughly how you'd go about doing it?
Thank you in advance.
Robin

Hi Robin,
I think I have implemented the same thing which you are trying to do
The followinf is the response of a web service from BI Publisher. You can check the response using the statement

• Web service error handling (SOAP 1023 SRT: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED)

Hi there,
When consuimng our web service, sometimes we get the error "SOAP 1023 SRT: Processing error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED" and this happens when we can't connect to the other system. The requirement is to automatically resend the transaction after +/- 10 seconds. Is there somewhere on the web service settings that will enable us to achieve this without having a background job running every minute?
Thanks.

Hello,

The first thing you should do is to check that your application server can reach the service your are trying to call. I suggest to try a:

telnet <remote_service_url> <remote_service_port>

from the command line of your server.

You should get a blank screen if your server reaches the remote server and something like connecting to <remote_service_url> if you don't.

• Name and Directory Service (Soap, Rest)

Hello everyone,
i would like to implement a directory service for Web-services (like UDDI) that supports SOAP and Rest. My question is can i use JNDI to do that. When yes, muss I write a Plug in for JNDI SPI to support this Protocols(SOAP, Rest). When no, what would you recommend me.
Thank you very much
Rodolfo

oops, thought i was replying to the PgP question:)
I think you should be able to achieve this via adapter module but i m not really sure how exactly it will be done .
Thanks

• Diff b/w Web service and window service

What is the difference between web service and window service, whether the both are same or not, Give some explain about that each one and give some examples also.

An XML Web service is a component that implements program
logic and provides functionality for diseparate
applications. These applications use standard protocols,
such as HTTP, XML, and SOAP, to access the functionality.
XML Web services use XML-based messaging to send and
receive data, which enables heterogeneous applications to
interoperate with each other. You can use XML Web services
to integrate applications that are written in different
programming languages and deployed on different platforms.
In addition, you can deploy XML Web services within an
intranet as well as on the Internet. While the Internet
brings users closer to organizations, XML Web services
allow organizations to integrate their applications.
A Windows service starts much before any user logs in to
the system (if it has been setup to start at boot up
process). A Windows service can also be setup in such a way
that it requires a user to start it manually ? the ultimate
customization!
Windows services run as background processes. These
applications do not have a user interface, which makes them
ideal for tasks that do not require any user interaction.
You can install a Windows service on any server or computer
that is running Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows NT.
You can also specify a Windows service to run in the
security context of a specific user account that is
different from the logged on user account or the default
computer account. For example, you can create a Windows
service to monitor performance counter data and react to
threshold values in a database.

• Is in PI7.1 possible asynchronous communication between SOAP and ABAPProxy?

Hi,
when method execute_asynchronous has disapeared since XI/PI 7.1, is
there still way how to use ABAP proxy in asynchronous way?
We need to build asynchronous connection SOAP->PI->ABAP_Proxy.
In PI, both interfaces are defined as asynchronous (outbound for SOAP and
inbound for ABAP Proxy).
Despite of this fact, when message is sent, it is processed
synchronous way.
I have set breakpoint in my implementation of method for ABAP Proxy
message processing. When message is sent and breakpoint is reached,
whole connection stays open (between SOAP and PI and between PI and
ABAP Proxy) and waits for processing method (the breakpointed one) to
return. Only when processing method returns, is connection finelly
closed.
If i understand it correctly, this is synchronous behavior. In
asynchronous behavior, as i understand it, should be connection
between PI and ABAP Proxy of application server closed immediately
after message has been delivered. This mean before my processing
method is even called.
The same could be said about SOAP and PI communication. Connection
should be closed immediately after PI has received message. From
definition of asynchronous communication of PI is obvious, that PI
should receive message correctly and close connection to sender system
even when receiver is unreachable. It should deliver message later
when, receiver system is back on line. So why it keeps connection to
sender system open while it waits for receiver?
Why is this happening, when both interfaces are defined as
asynchronous? Could be the reason for this, if APPLICATION
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT is set on by default? If so, how can i change it
to SYSTEM ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, or disable it at all?
Or is this kind of asynchronous communication even possible since
XI/PI 7.1 ?
Processing of message we are sending can take some time, so we dont
want connection pending open while waiting for finish of
processing. Thats the reason why we have chose asynchronous model to
use.

Quote from How to Use the J2EE SOAP Adapter:
"If you select Best Effort, the Web service client will receive a response
message in the SOAP body. Otherwise, the Web service client will not receive a
response message if no error occurs."
"if no error occurs" - that is the problem. In either case he still
waits if some error occure or not. I dont want it. Once PI has
received message, I want the connection with sender to be closed. If
there will be error in communication between PI and reciever, I want
to see it only in PI log. That mean no notification to sender to be
send about that error.
Is that possible?

• SOAP and J2EE security

We have deployed several SOAP services (Apache SOAP) on a WLS6.1
server. Since there are more and more services are being deployed
people are getting worried about security. I was wondering what the
best solution was to to authentication and authorization on EJB and
method level for SOAP clients ? I was thinking about the following
solution: use the standard J2EE security by defining security
constrainst in the ejb-jar.xml file. Therefor every client needs to
provide credentials to use the EJB's (this should work for both
RMI/IIOP and SOAP clients).
What are your ideas and opinions about this solution ?

Hi,

• OSB- Any Soap type Proxy service URL issue.

Hi,
There is an issue which i am facing and stuggling with it for sometime :(
Requirement - Using OSB 11g i had created 12 different services based on WSDLs provided by the client and all of them are working fine. However the client wanted a OSB router service on top of these 12 services which wil search for a string in the input xml and then route it to the required Proxy service (amongst the 12 services developed).
Problem- I was able to create the router Proxy service which was a Any Soap type of proxy service as i didnot have a WSDL for the router service. The router service is working fine when we test it from the OSB console.
When We tried to test the flow from SOAPUI (we used the WSDL of one of the 12 webservices developed and modified the uri to the uri of the router service ie. http://hostname:port/router/routerProxy) and it does not work.
The error returned is ERROR 404 nothing found by this name.
As The router proxy is a Any Soap kind of service i do not have the option of providing the client with the WSDL.

• Enterprise services and Web services

Hi Everyone
I need documents about Invoking enterprise services from Netweaver PI and web services from Netweaver PI, I can find only NetWeaver CE, but not PI. So help, any links?? or pdfs?? or ideal would be some demo example of invoking a web service using PI.
Thank you

Hi,
Since you would need to wet your hands by playing with webservice and PI. Please consider the following links.

• Could someone help me to clearly distinguish between SOAP and HTTP adapter?

In which scenarios we can go for HTTP adapter and when to go for SOAP adapter?

Hi Lekshmi !!
A SOAP message will be bundled inside the soap envelope.HTTP is not an adapter in adapter engine whereas soap is an adapter i.e, HTTP doesn't require a communication channel where as SOAP requires. You can send soap messages using some SOAP client.
SOAP Adapter is used to xchange SOAP messages bw remote clients and webservices....
check this link for more differences..
SOAP and HTTP adapter
When you need to Send Data to XI from a Webservice , your SOAP adapter is used.
HTTP adapter is used when you want to post a HTTP request message from a web application to XI.
How can i make use of SOAP Sender Adapter without using any tools like XML Spy etc....
XML SPy is used as a TEST tool when you are sending SOAP information to XI. TO actually send data , you need to configure a webservice and construct a SOAP request message and post the data .
we use SOAP adapter when we need to connect to remote system or use Webservices in these cases we use SOAP adapter.
HTTP Adapter is used by extenal systems to connect to Intergartin server using native HTTP Interface.
the http adapter is a service which is directly connected to integration engine. Adapter Framework (Java) isnt involved. It is much more performant than SOAP adapter.
The SOAP adapter is written in Java and is responsible for the SOAP envelope around the real XML message. You can build/remove that envelope as well in the mapping and use instead http adapter. But standard for webservices is using SOAP adapter.

i was not able
to find anythin to match my requirement. What you're asking is so common that I find it difficult to believe your search would come up empty. A quick google search of "java web services" returns more information than you will ever need. First link that pops up:
java.sun.com/webservices/
Good luck.
