Solaris 10 bundle application server

My workstation is SUN Blade 100 Sparc
I used solaris 10 bundle appserver and try to start the server.
I could create the domain by
#asadm create-domain adminport 123 adminuser root mydomain
when I delete the domain by
#asadm
it shows "/usr/bin/imqbrokerd: not found"
when I start the domain by
#asadm start-domain mydomain
The server doesn't start and log following error:

Based on the info you supplied it looks like the /usr/bin/imqbrokerd program could not be found. Does this path exist? If not it looks like the appserver may be configged incorrectly. IMQ may be installed in a different location. Can you find the imqbrokerd program on your system? Once you locate it could you look in your config/asenv.conf file and check the AS_IMQ_LIB and AS_IMQ_BIN properties to make sure they are pointing to appropriate paths. Post back what you find.

  • Bug in bundled Application Server prohibits Acegi security integration

I am using JSC 2, Update 1 and have run into a problem trying to integrate Acegi security into my Web app. After some hours of frustration I have found that the problem apparently stems from a bug in the bundled Sun Application Server (version 8.2). If I deploy my application to Tomcat 5.5, the problem disappears.
The exception that occurs on the bundled Sun Application Server is:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: org.acegisecurity.providers.UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken
For information about the appserver bug that causes this exception look at:
    http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=13150&messageID=83666
The last three entries in the above thread discuss the problem and also link to other places where the problem is discussed. See in particular these links:
    https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=221
    and
    http://www.jroller.com/page/agrebnev?entry=acegi_does_not_work_at
The Glassfish bug database indicates that the bug was fixed in the b38 version of Glassfish. However, the fix apparently hasn't made it into the bundled Sun Appserver 8.2.
I hope this information will spare someone else the frustration of hunting down the source of this problem. Since Acegi is becoming a very popular option for adding security to Java webapps, I probably won't be the only person to run into this little gotcha.
Also, I'd appreciate any info the Creator team can provide about when the bundled appserver might be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

Could someone on the Creator team please comment on this issue? Is there any plan to upgrade the bundled Sun Application Server to version 9.0? (I'm assuming this bug is fixed in 9.0 -- although I haven't been able to verify that. Actually, I'm not very clear on the relationship between the various Glassfish versions and the various Sun Application Server versions.) Or is there a plan to support Glassfish and/or Tomcat as development servers (rather than just deployment servers).
It seems like my only other possible alternative is to use Netbeans 5.5 with the Visual Web pack. But since the Visual Web pack is a pre-beta release I'm leery about using it for developing a production Web app.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Sun Java System Application Server for Mac OS X ?

    hi everybody.
does anybody know if (any given date ?) sun is planning to offer a distribution of its sun java system application server for mac os x ? or even better: any ideas on how to install a currently available version on mac os x 10.4 ? the linux bin seems not to be readable.
thank you very much in advance, folks.
    and have a nice day
    andre from berlin, germany

As you noticed, standalone MacOS distribution of application server is currently not available, but what you can do is to download NetBeans with J2EE bundle or Creator (for free) and install bundled Application Server on this platform. Download URLs are:
    http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/download.php?type=4.1
    (NetBeans/J2EE cobundle)
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/devtools/free/
    (Creator)
Also, you can install and run Glassfish (which is open-source version of upcoming Application Server 9.0) on MacOS X:

  • Problem with WLST in weblogic application server 10.3 on solaris 10 x86

Hi Friends, I installed Sun Solaris 10 on my desktop x86. I am able to install oracle weblogic application server 10.3.
I created one domain and I am trying to start AdminServer on that using WLST command.
Before that , I started the admin server from command as normal start ( nohup ./startWebLogic.sh &) and the server started perfectly alright. After that I was trying to open admin console in firefox browser. It was opening perfectly alright.
Now I stopped the server and checked no processes which are related to weblogic were running , and then initialized the WLST environment using the script "wlst.sh" , which is at (in my system) /usr/bea/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/wlst.sh. Now the environment had been set and the WLST offline prompt came up.
Now I used the below WLST scirpt command
    startServer('AdminServer','mydomain','t3://localhost:7001','weblogic','weblogic1');
and the server started perfectly alright, now what I did was , I started admin console at FireFox browser , it prompted me to enter user name and password , I gave them , and once the login is done, then in my shell window , I am seeing error as
    **wls:/offline> WLST-WLS-1263965848154: <Jan 19, 2010 11:39:24 PM CST> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101017> <[ServletContext@28481438[app:consoleapp module:console path:/console spec-version:2.5]] Root cause of ServletException.**

and in this file also I changed the memory arguments as
    *if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ] ; then*
    *WLS_MEM_ARGS_64BIT="-Xms256m -Xmx512m"*
    *export WLS_MEM_ARGS_64BIT*
    *WLS_MEM_ARGS_32BIT="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"*
    *export WLS_MEM_ARGS_32BIT*
and restarted the server using the WLST command and again tried to open the admin console on a browser, same error is showing.
    (1) Environment : Sun Solaris x86
    (2) JDK : sun jdk 1.6._17
Please help me what I am doing wrong here and please let me know the solution.
I was trying to install jrockit 1.6 on this since my OS is sun solaris X86 , there is no compatible jrockit version is not there.
    Thanks a lot
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
As you have mentioned in your Post that
    MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m" <---- previously these were 32m and 200m and MaxPermSize
The Setting you have provided is wrong ...that is the reason you are gettingjava.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space. There is a RRation between PermSize and the maximum Heap Size...
    Just a Bit Explaination:
    Formula:
(OS Level)Process Size = Java Heap (+) Native Space (+) (2-3% OS related Memory)
PermSize : It's a Netive Memory Area Outside of the Heap, Where ClassLoading kind of things happens. In an operating System like Windows Default Process Size is 2GB (2048MB) default (It doesnt matter How much RAM do u have 2GB or 4GB or more)...until we dont change it by setting OS level parameter to increase the process size..Usually in OS like Solaris/Linux we get 4GB process size as well.
Now Lets take the default Process Size=2GB (Windows), Now As you have set the -Xmx512M, we can assume that rest of the memory 1536 Mb is available for Native codes.
(ProcessSize - HeapSize) = Native (+) (2-3% OS related Memory)
    2048 MB - 512 MB = 1536 MB
    THUMB RULES:
    <h3><font color=red>
MaxPermSize = (MaxHeapSize/3) ----Very Special Cases
    MaxPermSize = (MaxHeapSize/4) ----Recommended
    </font></h3>
In your Case -Xmx (Max Heap Size) and -XX:MaxPermSize both were same ....That is the reason you are getting unexpected results. These should be in proper ration.
What should be the exact setting of these parameters depends on the Environment /Applications etc...
    But Just try -Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -XX:MaxPermSize256m
Another recommendation for fine tuning always keep (Xmx MaxHeapSize & Xms InitialHeapSize same).
    Thanks

  • Deploying forms application on Oracle Application Server 10g on Solaris

    Hi Guys,
We have to deploy our forms application on Application Server 10g on Solaris platform.
I understand we have to specify the hosting directory in the formsweb.cfg file from where forms will be picked up.
    Now the query is -
We have a directory structure, we want to keep the directory structure intact as every directory contains forms and reports executables belonging to that module.
So can I mention the parent directory structure as launching directory and still the forms will be picked and hosted as web forms when user tries to access the form via a link, the forms executables being in inidividual directories inside the parent directory?
    - Hosting Directory (formsweb.cfg entry)
      - Sub Directory1
          - Form1
          - Form2
      - Sub Directory2
          - Form3
          - Form4
      - Sub Directory3
          - Form5
          - Form6I hope I am able to put my query across in accurate way.
    Thanks!
    Av.

    Hi FormsEleven,
When you say you can do this or you have done for demo then considering following directory structure if I have two forms having common form names how it will be resolved?
Or how the url to access these forms will be?
As shown in the following structure consider we have Form1 in sub directory1 as well as in sub-directory2 then how the link to access these forms will be?
    - Hosting Directory (formsweb.cfg entry)
      - Sub Directory1
          - Form1
          - Form2
      - Sub Directory2
          - Form1
          - Form4
      - Sub Directory3

  • BPEL Server installation on JBOSS application Server on SUN SOLARIS

I have a question about Oracle BPEL installation. For our project exists the requirement, to install BPEL Server on SUN SOLARIS, whereby the appropriate Version of Application server JBOSS already exists and it should be used.
The version of the Oracle BPEL server for JBOSS, which we found on the Download side, is made available only with JBOSS (version 3.2.6) in a Package.
During the BPEL server installation this bound JBOSS server version is installed automatically, without giving selection. Is there a BPEL installation for JBOSS on SUN-SOLARIS, which can be installed at the already existing JBOSS server?

    Hi There,
Dis you get any good responces to your question ?

  • Sun Java Application Server 8.1 Upgrade Solaris 9 to Solaris 10

I have Sun Java Application Server 8.1 (version 8.1_02 (build b06-fcs) ) and HA which are currently installed on Solaris 9 box (Sparc).
Now, I plan to upgrade Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. What should I need to do before and after migration?
    Thanks.

Before I start, disclaimer -- I have no knowledge of Hibernate and the following comments are based on the stack trace you have included.
I think your permissions might be set all right but you might have an error in the hibernate query. It looks like hibernate uses antlr to parse the queries. While parsing the query, antlr is encountering an exceptional condition and is trying to exit the VM (by calling System.exit()). Obviously, the hibernate code does not have that permission and therefore the exception is logged.
My guess is if you fix the query such that hibernate/antlr can parse it, you will not run into this error.
    Hope this helps,

  • New install of SJS Ent 8 on Solaris, can't start Application Server 8.1

    Hello,
    Appreciate in advance your help.
Just downloaded and installed SJS 8.1 on a new Sun Solaris 10 box. I'm able to run the IDE and have started the Tomcat server, but when attempting to start the SJS 8.1 application server, I get:
The Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used)
    - Incorrect server configuration
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications
    The problems are:
    - There is no server.log file in the expected directory at /opt/sun/jstudio_ent8/AppServ8.1UR2/domains/myDomain1/logs
    - I ran netstat -a, but could glean no useful information
    - I have not modified the server configuration since the new install
    - I have not deployed my application (since I can't start the server).
Forgive my ignorance since I'm not a Solaris expert. I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

No difference in server.log after setting level="FINEST".
Don't know if it would help, but the contents of my server.log file follow:

I do notice that the class path references jdk1.5.0_04. When installing SJS I selected the separately installed jdk1.5.0_07. Could that be causing the problem?

  • How to start new instance of Application server 6.0 sp3 on Solaris

    Hi!
I am a new user of iPlanet Application server (ver. 6.0 sp3) for Solaris and I have problems with starting new instance of App. Server. Directory server and administration server are started during installation but application server isn't started. I've used Application Server Command Line Utilities to start server but I've got message "you must register
the server instance via the application server admin tool". I've tried to do that but I don't know how. I've searched documentation and I haven't found what I'm looking for.I would like to know where can I find instructions for starting App. server?

    Hello,
Start your "ksvradmin" from $IASHOME/bin/ksvradmin tool - a GUI tool and under file menu register the server instance by supplying port on which the server is running.. it is intuitive..
    Thanks

  • J2EE Application server for CCA (Solaris 10)

I know that CCA doesn't document Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1 for Solaris SPARC as a supported J2EE application server, but has anyone installed CCA with the newer versions of Sun GlassFish application servers? Can you share you experience if you've used other application servers on Solaris 9 or 10. Our install of CCA will use Windows for Telephony servers and the J2EE app/session servers on Solaris 10.
    Thanks in advance!

We will be doing an install in January with planned Solaris 10 running Weblogic 10.3 and the Application servers will be running windows.
The Matrix does not show this combination but we have mixed Linux web servers in the past with Windows application server OK with a 10G back end DB.
