Solaris Server VM under Weblogic 7.0 sp1

I have noticed that bea has dropped platform support
for the Sun SPARC Solaris Server VM (java 1.3 -server option)
and only allows the use of the client VM (-hotspot)
I was under the impression that -server mode was much more scalable than -hotspot
mode, which is now the only option
on solaris.
Has anyone tried using -server mode under with weblogic 7
with any success or greater performance?
Matt

I heard for corporate customers there is a patch for weblogic 7 with that you can
use jdk141.
Am i right?

If you need 1.4 then you should upgrade to 8.1

  • Codeset conversion on WebLogic v6.0 sp1 (NT/Solaris)

    Hi All,
    I'm using WebLogic v6.0 sp1 on NT and Solaris.
    What i trying to achieve is to convert codeset from unicod(java/jdbc, while

    I read from WebLogic documentation/Advanced Oracle Features that i could weblogic.code
    to whichever codeset desirable.
    But it doesn't seem to work after i alter the settings on Connection Pools/Properties
    on WebLogic console.

    Hi,
    Thanks. I'm currently using getBytes too to convert the char/varchar from Oracle
    db to Big5. It's done on every getString() in the code.
    Is there an alternative way that could do it on JDBC driver level? or on Weblogic
    server level, so that it could reduce on substantial coding efforts.
    I try that on thin driver properties, set weblogic.codeset=Big5, but doesn't seem
    to make any difference.
    Please advise.
    thanks & regards

    This really all depends on how you are displaying the characters. If
    this is via swing, you should read:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/fontprop.html#multiple
    If you're writing to a socket, you can get a byte array of the encoded
    chars using String.getBytes and pass in the encoding you desire, e.g.
    Big5 (you'll have to make sure you have i18n.jar since the Big5 encoder
    isn't in rt.jar, see
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/intl/encoding.doc.html).
    If you just want to display the data to a webapp user you can either
    use
    a PrintWriter, which I have found to be very slow or you can write bytes
    out to the ServletOutputStream using the conversion method I described
    above.

  • Oracle Portal returns 500 error running under Weblogic 11g server

    I've got Oracle Portal set up under Weblogic 11g.
    SSO running, talking to OID 11g, also running under the same Weblogic 11g server. Tested SSO, it is working well.
    After the install (no errors or issue on install), I go to http://<server>:8090/portal/pls/portal and geta Error 500 - Internal Server Error.
    I traced down the problem to OHS - in ohs1.log:

    I have the following situation:

  • Double submission problem in J2EE application under Weblogic 8.1 SP2 server

    Hi,
    We are facing double submission problem in our J2EE application which is running under Weblogic 8.1 SP2 and for the same we already implemented or added the below preventive solutions.
    1. We disable the SUBMIT button once the user clicks it.
    2. We preventated pressing 'F5' button and clicking 'Refresh' button in the browser.
    3. Also we tried to prevent by declaring the idempotent is 'true' under weblogic-ejb-jar.xml as below.
    <stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent>true</stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent>
    So please somebody help us on this issue like how to prevent in some other way.
    Regards,
    Dinesh.

    I have no idea why you would think changing your EJB configuration would have anything to do with preventing double submission at your servlet layer.
    One technique I've seen for preventing double submission was first used in the Struts framework several years ago. When a page is "prepared" for display, a token value is created and stored in the session. The page is displayed with a hidden field containing that value. When the page is submitted, the value of the hidden field is compared with the value stored in the session. If they're not equal, the submission is ignored.

  • Display Chinese characters on JSP under WebLogic 6.1

    We've recently migrated from WebLogic 5.1 to 6.1 and we found that all those

    However we haven't made any special changes to any configuration in all
    these machines. Why some of them work and some of them doesn't ? Those W2K
    machines work are running English version of Windows 2000, but with Chinese
    character sets installed.
    Our Chinese JSP pages use big5 character encoding instead of unicode.
    I've read a number of messages in this newsgroup but I'm still very
    confusing on how to fix the problem ...

    Hi,
    I have the same problem here. I am using weblogic 6.1 on W2k server. I save
    prpblem from those static contents in the jsp file, but those data in chinese
    from oracle database is working fine. I create a simple jsp file just with a simple
    text "hello world" in chinese, I save one as a html and one as a jsp. When I run
    this two under weblogic 6.1, the html file display correctly but the jsp is not.
    I try "UTF-8", "GB2312" and other charsets but all not working with jsp files.

    As you may have noted, the ressouce-path is starting from root, and =
    after you insert the directory where you want to define de encoding.
    This will influence the JVM when performing a compilation (please clean
    =

    Please reply in the forum is you still face the problem after all these

  • LDAP groups and WebLogic Roles - Urgent ( weblogic 6.1 sp1, iPLanet 5.1)

    I have 2 questions and these are very urgent :-
    1. Where the mapping can be defined between LDAP groups and WebLogic Roles. I have
    2 groups in iPLanet :- Contarctors and employees and I have 2 security roles in weblogic:-
    contractactors and employess. How do I map LDAP group contractors to weblogic security
    Role contractors? Similarly for employees ?
    2. I have not defined contarctors and employeees under People container in IPlanet.
    e.g. The RDN for contractor is
    uid=1234,ou=dir,dc=orams,dc=com
    Can I still use the defualt security realm of weblogic (the WebLogic Security Realm
    under People ) OR I have to write my own custom code ?
    3. I am planning to use Roles insetad of groups to manage the logical grouping in
    iPLant. Can I still use the groups in WebLogic security realm ( in the configuratin
    parameters ?)
    This is very urgent ....so if any of you can throw any hints that will be greatly
    appreciated.

    Hi Ariel,
    The driver is bundled with the product in WLS 6.1sp1. you don't have to
    download any additional driver. Use it as you normally would only thing to
    remember is if you are trying to write standalone java code then you have to
    have weblogic.jar in your classpath. For the rest of the info follow the wls
    docs for 6.1

  • JSP pages are not refreshing under wl 6.1 sp1

              I thought this could have been a problem solved long time ago but after searched

              Basically any change to the JSP is not refreshed on my wl server. Even after I

    Have a look at this page:

  • Multiple applications: weblogic 6.0 sp1 and apache 1.3.12 proxy

    Hi,
    We are testing the following setup:
    Weblogic 6.0 SP1 running on Solaris 8 (SUN, ip: 192.168.0.1)
    Apache 1.3.12 running on Linux (ip: 192.168.0.2)
    We have two applications setup on weblogic in the following
    directories:
    $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/app1 and
    $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/app2
    The idea is to set up virtual hosts on the apache server and
    depending on the url, redirect the client to a specific
    application. So for the application app1 we have the following
    setup in httpd.conf:
    <Files ~ "*.jsp>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    PathPrepend /app1
    </Files>
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    WebLogicHost 192.168.0.1
    WebLogicPort 7001
    DebugConfigInfo ON
    Debug ALL
    </IfModule>
    This seems to work fine, e.g. if the client requests a page
    http://app1.url.com/index.jsp this gets correctly passed to
    weblogic as http://192.168.0.1:7001/app1/index.jsp.
    BUT when a jsp page does a response.sendRedirect
    (redirectpage.jsp), weblogic tells the client to redirect to
    http://app1.url.com/app1/redirectpage.jsp. *Apache* immediately
    comes back with an error 404. Is there a way of stripping
    the /app1 path from the redirect page that gets sent
    to the client?
    OR is there a better way of hosting multiple applications on a
    server?
    This is only a problem when we use sendRedirect.
    Any ideas
    Thanks
    Richard

  • Turning "RunConversionVisibly" on under WebLogic

    I'm trying to debug a PDFG problem that is happening on a client site.  I would like to turn on the "RunConversionVisibly" flag.  I have instructions on how to do this in JBoss (using the jmxconsole app to change this MBean property on the PDFMaker service).  I have also managed to perform the same operation using the Java jconsole app under JBoss however I've been unable to utilize jconsole to turn this flag on under WebLogic.
    I'm able to connect jconsole to Weblogic however I don't see the adobe.com MBean.  Just like under JBos, I can see JMImplementation, java.lang and java.util.logging MBeans.  I can also see Security and com.bea MBeans, but no adobe,com MBean.
    The client is running LiveCycle 8.2.1 SP3,WebLogic 10.0, Windows 2003 64-bit, MS SQL Server 2005 SP1.
    How can I turn on "RunConversionVisibly" under WebLogic?

    This appears to be (yet another) bug in ADE2.0/2.0.1, that (randomly?) effect some people, but not all.
    Easiest solution is to install the olver version.
    ~~~~~~~~~
    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
    (You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html
    The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
    Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
    It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
    Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.
  • Setting up OIM to start as a Windows Service running under Weblogic 10.3.2
    Hi,
    On recommendation from our Oracle Rep. we have begun migrating our existing OIM installation on Oracle AS to a Weblogic Application Server. As such we are looking for a way to get the OIM application to run as a service in windows - so we dont have to start it manually after a reboot and so that system monitoring can alert us if/when the application crashes for some reason.
    I have asked Oracle support - which basically said that no such howto/documentation exists and that "One needs to debug on their own when face any issue." (whatever the h*** that means).
    I was thinking that we werent the first customers trying to get the OIM webapplication to start automatically under weblogic and that someone must have figured out a way to accomplish this ?
    Any advice on how to do this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    /Jacob
