Solutions Explorer - View features in chronological order

Microsoft Visual C# 2013
I was wondering if there was any way to re-arrange the features in the solutions explorer based on chronological order. The solutions explorer is slowly becoming quite cluttered despite my attempts at using a proper naming convention. I can expect there
to be several hundred features residing here in the near future. Currently the features appear to be ordered alphanumerically. Is there any way to show the features chronologically? It would aid in allowing people to easily see which items
have been worked on most recently without having to investigate each individual item.
I explored most of the options but was unable to find what I need. Any ideas? Possible alternatives?

Hi Connor89,
Based on your issue, I tried to create multiple projects under the Solution Explorer, I found that it is default these project is ordered by the alphanumerically in the VS2013.
As you said that you want to order by the chronologically in the solution explorer from VS2013, I did some research about it, but I still find the official document
about it.  So I think that it is not possible to set the features appear to be ordered chronologically for the solution explorer in the VS2013.
If you still want to this feature, I suggest you could submit this feature request:
http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio. The Visual Studio product team is listening to user voice there. You can send your idea there and people can vote. If
you submit this suggestion, I hope you could post that link here, I will help you vote it.
Thanks for your understanding.

iOS 5 sorts photos randomly. How do I get back to viewing them in chronological order?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • View iCal's day and week view in reverse chronological order

    Greetings iCalers,
When I think about day/week calendars, with the Y-axis being times of the day as in iCal's day/week views (e.g. "3:00 AM", and "5:00 PM" are in the leftmost column), I think about times building up to midnight from the bottom—i.e. the day starts at 12:00 AM on the bottom, with 1:00 AM above that, and the day ends with 11:59 PM on the top. I've learned that this intuition is atypical, and all calendaring systems I've come across work in the reverse direction, in line with the majority of people's intuitions.
I'm wondering if there's a way to get iCal to display in the reverse-chronological order. I suspect there isn't, and I've never seen a terminal command or apple script for it, but I'm hoping there is. If anyone know and could post it here, that would be great!
    Thanks!

It's cool, I figured out a solution: get over it and stop worrying about trivial issues to the point of excessive fussiness.

    Solution anyone?...
Wait for an iOS update and send feedback to Apple. Many have reported that problem here - synced events and faces in arbitrary order, but there is no known solution.  You cannot arrange the synced events, albums, and faces on your iOS devices in any way.
You can use this feedback form to submit a feature request:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html

  • Suggestion: Please make a Visual Studio Solution Explorer that is similar to Windows 8 Start Screen

We have monitors now that are enormous and it is now the norm to develop on three or more monitors.  Yet we still try to crowd project navigation info that pleads to be fully visualized into a tiny window as if expanding it is somehow a waste of space.
I mention Windows 8 start screen in the title of this post.  I have no particular love for the start screen except that it is a different spin on a strict hierarchical display of information.  I like that it has the objective of using all available
screen space to present information that would otherwise be shown in a tiny corner of the screen.  So my suggestion in its most general form is for you guys to find a way to use the entire screen to allow a developer to quickly and easily navigate a large
    VS project.
For example, even if I fully expand the Solution Explorer to take up the space of an entire monitor the top level nodes of my project take up a tiny fraction of the available screen space - I have to drill down up to 12 levels to reach my files.  And when
I get to the point where I think I see the file I want, the higher level folders have scrolled off the screen so I loose my place in the project.
A couple of suggestions for a new Solution Explorer:
Edit: Make the Solution Explorer more like the Windows 8 Start screen or a file directory browser in the sense that Start Screen is a full-screen navigation screen versus a control that is primarily desigend to be docked.  If I maximize Solution Explorer
on my monitor the MOST screen space it will use is about 20% down the left edge of my screen.  Even with 80% of my screen left EMPTY, I am clicking and clicking and scrolling and clicking and scrolling in order to navigate to where I need to be. /Edit
Show an always-visible breadcrumb across the top of the window so the user can navigate up quickly and also maintain a sense of location within the project.
Show folders and files horizontally and vertically.  USE THE ENTIRE WINDOW! Allow different views just as we see in Windows file explorer.
Allow (large) user defined icons to be associated with projects, folders and files.  Instead of showing the same icon for every project in a solution, default to a unique icon.  Thats why we use icons, right?
Allow projects and folders to have foreground/background color properties.
"Scope to this" on the context menu is great... please add the root name on the tab.
It would also be very helpful to display the full directory and solution name on the VS title bar to avoid confusion when working with different versions of the same project.  There are a couple add-ons that do this... why has it become necessary for add-ons.

  • IOS8 Photos not showing photos in chronological order

Photos App not showing photos in chronological order!!
what gives apple?!  I take a picture, go to Photos and since theres no more camera roll, I'm forced to go into Photos Tab, and when I select "Collections", I see the tiny thumbs of all my pictures sorted which look fine in chronological order, But when select to go down to the next level of viewing (Moments), the dates are all over the place!  When I scroll all the way down, I should technically be at the most recent of my pictures taken. Its not, it shows Aug26. Then one above that Aug 21 Then next few are in Aug; mind you we are in September. Then theres Jun 25. THEN finally some recent photos of Sept 26 and 15!!! THEN the next one is MAY 31.
So trying to find my most recent photos taken is painstakingly tough.

Check this thread out. I have mobileme, but this solution worked, perhaps you could try something similar for your Gmail account...

  • Import photos looses chronological order

Hi. All i have two sets of photos from the same holiday (taken with different cameras). i want to make a slideshow of both sets, but so the photos are in chronological order.
SO i copied all the photos into the same folder, and clicked arrange by data modified. this shows them in the correct order. Then i select all, adn drag them into imovie hd 06, and it looses the order. it appears to be completely random.
imovie 08 does this fine but lacks too many features that i need.
is there any way to sort the pictures once they're in imovie?

I think Frank has the right idea. The easiest fix would be to import the photos into iPhoto. You can drag your folder directly into the Source Pane (left column) of the iPhoto window to get those photos placed into an Album at the same time as they are imported. View the album and sort it chronologically. The album will be listed in the Photos pane inside your iMovie project. (Click the Media button, then Photos, then scroll down through the album list under iPhoto.) All you have to do is select the album, drag into your Time Line, and the photos should import to your movie in the same order.
    Regards.

  • Putting pdf pages in chronological order

I have several documents in one pdf folder that are dated.  I would like to put these documents in chronological order by date, how do I do that?  I also got a message that some of the content is not editable because it was scanned.  So, if I export this to a Word document, how do I put the pages in chronological order?
    Thank you,
    Slspencer

Use your OS's file browser/explorer to sort the files (in the folder) by date.
Rename each. Top down put a numeric prefix in place.
    000-filename
    001-filename
    nnn-filename
Open Acrobat and use the "Combine" feature to combine the files into a single PDF.
An option available with the Combine feature is to have Bookmarks used. Tick this choice.
The single, new PDF is created. Save it.
Open this PDF file's Bookmark pane. There'll be a bookmark for each of the files.
The order of Bookmarks and the order of PDF pages reflects the order you set when you renamed the source files (a date sort).
Note that you could manually position the order of files to be combined in the Combine dialog.
I find it easier and quicker to add the prefix to the source files.
Using Acrobat XI you'd process the new, single PDF through OCR.
As some of the PDF pages already have renderable text they cannot undergo OCR.
Acrobat will alert you of this when it comes to the first of such pages.
Just tick the box in the lower left. This tells Acrobat to ignore any upcoming pages that cannot be OCRd and to keep on truck'n to OCR the page that hold the scanned image.
Now, use Acrobat XI to export the the PDF to the Word file you want.
    (File :: Save As Other :: <make the desired choice> )
Do not expect a 1:1 export. You have a diverse collection of source files.
While you might get 1:1 if ALL the PDFs combined were well-formed Tagged PDF (compliant with 14.8 of ISO 32000-1 & ISO 14289-1) you don't have that.
So --- To be expected — cleanup of the content in the Word file.
    Be well...

  • Album Art in Chronological order

Ok so I finally got a Lion OS (whilst kicking and screaming) and thus involuntarily downgraded to iTunes 11. It looks nice but the more I use it the more I realize how impossible it is to customize or at least have a similar organization to my iTunes 10.
One thing I can't seem to do at all that is driving me nuts is I'd like to click on a playlist or an artist and see the albums and cover art in chronological order. List view is the closest it gets, my playlist is in the same order, but there isn't a way to view the album art anymore -- it should be a category at the top that can be added -- but it's not. Grid view looks nice but Apple decided I needed to always view these in alphabetical order -- no compromises -- not sure who decided that but they should not be on the UX team for iTunes anymore. Artist view is really annoying -- doesn't show details, breaks the tracklisting to two columns...
Seriously. All I want is to view my albums with a picture in the order I put them in.

Well, it's also more difficult to search this forum than it used to be. I couldnt find anything while searching, but this result poped up at the top of "More Like This" after I posted.

  • Exports not in chronological order: How to export in CreateDate order.

Hopefully this is an easy one but I can't figure it out. I have an event with about 850 pictures that were taken over a week's time. When originally imported into iPhoto they spanned several events because iPhoto by default creates one event per day. I subsequently merged all the events, and indeed the photos are in chronological order in iPhoto.
When I export to a folder on the desktop (JPEG High quality, Full size) and then examine that folder, +the photos are no longer in the order taken.+ The first day's photos seem to be in the middle, for example. The photos were renamed with ascending number values, but, for example, image 086 appears about halfway down, behind, say, 487.
It appears that the EXIF Create Date is not the criterion used to sort exported images(?) How can I get iPhoto to export this way? Who wants to look at a disk full of vacation images that are completely out of order. It seems to me to be the logical, default way to export a series of images.
    Help! Thank you!

But when you export from iPhoto, it is iPhoto that names the files for export.
    Correct.
If you export them at the Event level, it doesn't rename them in exif chronological order correctly
Renaming in exif chroological order? Is that a feature? iPhoto does not rename files at all unless you tell it to. If you don't tell it to then it will export the files with the same name as they imported with.
However, if you open the event and select all the photos and export as sequentially numbered files, it will number them correctly based on exif data.
No it won't. It will export them as sequentially numbered files based on the sort you were using at the time of export, as OT points out. The sequential numbering has nothing to do with the exif data and everything to so with the sort order you have chosen in the Event or Album. Choose a different sort order in the Event and you'll get a different result.

Now we have a lot of views which select data from the tables, but I need to get the "Table Column Name" that is linked in the view.
If you are using SQL Server 2012/2014, then you can use

  • Sharepoint 2013 explorer view error - problem opening this location in file explorer (HTTPS + Win7 Enterprise 64 bit + IE9 32 bit + Office 2007 32 bit)

    Hi,
We have a problem using Sharepoint 2013 explorer view. (Error - We're having a problem opening this location in file explorer. Add this web site to your trusted sites list and try again).
I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit, Office 2007 32 bit and IE9 32 bit. And the sharepoint site is a https site.
Some people in my organization are able to browse and some users getting the above error. (with the same client machine configuration)
If I clear my browser cache, closes the browser and open it then the explorer view is working. But after a minute if I try again I'm getting the above mentioned error. This 1 minute expiration happens is since the first time I have used explorer
view, not since I opened the browser.
I have tried the following on my machine:
    1. Modified the web client service to run automatically.
    2. Verified the sharepoint site is part of trusted sites (https://*.spsite.com/)
    3. Compatibility mode is turned on.
    4. Tried adding
AuthForwardServerList in the webclient registry settings under parameters. (restarted the web client)
    5. Verified the BasicAuthLevel set to 1 (since we are using SSL). Tried setting the BasicAuthLevel to 2 as well. (restarted the web client)
    6. Tried installing software update for web folders (KB907306).
Verified the below on the production server:
    1. The web application has the root site collection.
    2. It has WebDav Publishing disabled under IIS Web Server feature.
Could some one please help me in resolving this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi  Deepak,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to use "Open with Explorer"  in a document library.
For your issue, please verify the following:
ActiveX controls must be enabled in IE.
As you are using Windows 7 Server as the client computer, you must install the Desktop Experience feature from Server Manager.
Make sure there is a working Root site collection.
Install this hotfix for windows 7 work with sharepoint 2013 :hotfixv4.microsoft.com/.../463266_intl_x64_zip.exe

  • Windows Explorer View, Server 2012 and WebDAV

I am using SharePoint Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012. I cannot get Windows Explorer View working from client machines on this server. These machines are Windows 8, running IE 10 (I am also having problems on my Windows 7 / IE 9 machine).
I have done everything on the client that I have read about (Trusted Site, the WebClient services, the patch mentioned in a Kb article), but to no avail.
The client machines CAN open Windows Explorer View on a SharePoint Foundation site that I have hosted on the internet, although in this instance they access the internet directly, rather than through the company network.
Therefore, I take it that my problem lies either on our SharePoint server, or somewhere in the network. The Proxy does not seem to be a problem as this is bypassed for local sites.
Somedody said for an earlier version of SharePoint that the WebDAV server role should be
disabled (which seems counter-intuitive).  Does this make sense, or what else should I be looking at on either my server or in the network environment?

    Thanks for the reply.
I get the standard message ("We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer. Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again"). I am not using HTTPS.
I do not think that the WebDAV is irrelevant on the server, as there are two separate things there:
Desktop Experience Feature, which installs the WebClient service to allow the server to use WebDAV, and
WebDAV Publiching Role under Common HTTP functions
Curiously, after removign the WebDAV Publishign Role, my Win7/IE9 pc (which is not logged on to my client's domain (although I access their network and use SharePoint in my browser) DOES allow Windows Explorer View.
The domain PCs do not allow it, still.  They get challnged for a user name and password three times before they get the standard message.  But, I did test a machine of their connecting to an internet-hosted website, and it could use Explorer View.
