[SOLVED] Automatically loading module

Hi everyone,
Since I succeeded (with the help of some of you) to get my wi-fi back, I am unable to configure my system in order to automatically load the wi-fi module at boot. I actually read this post and this page of the wiki and so I created a new file : /etc/modules.load.d/brcmsmac.conf.
This file only contains a line : brcmsmac.
Despite this, brcmsmac isn't loaded.  Is there something I am missing?

Okay, so here are the permissions :
[nugetchar@arch ~]$ ls -l /etc/modules-load.d/
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8 Aug 10 00:21 brcmsmac.conf
And here is the part of the journal which might be interesting :

  • [SOLVED] can't load module-echo-cancel for PulseAudio (WebRtc)

    I have added the line load-module module-echo-cancel to /etc/pulse/default.conf as said in the arch wiki but after I do that , I cannot start pulse and it gives me the follwoing error :
    E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed.
    I have tried looking in the forum and google for a soulation but failed to find something  that works , also tried different variations of the line like :
    load-module module-echo-cancel source_name=echosource sink_name=echosink channels=1
    but nothing works ...
    so I think it is either the line I use is somehow wrong or I am missing some dependency for using webrtc.
    thanks in adavnce for any help.
    edit : well I solved the problem ..., it seems that after I have installed pavucontrol I was able to succsufully load the echo-cancel module

    ok, did and done. (However, note that this isn't raw code since I have to type from display of the monitor to the laptop.)

    According to file, I do have the latest kernel, which makes this even more peculiar since it isn't consistent with 'uname -r'
    3.5.6-1-ARCH
    and I'm using grub legacy, I think.

    What's strange is that Tp smapi's functionality seems to be there anyway... It's a module for battery control in Thinkpads and my battery indeed doesn't charge beyond 80%, the way I want it to be.
    I'm having the same issue. I think you will find that the "functionality" isn't provided, as you said, /sys/devices/platform/smapi doesn't exist, and that your battery is actually remembering the last charge limits you sent to it. Try to remove the battery and put it back, I'm nearly sure that it'll lose them. This is what happens to me on my second battery, the ultra-bay one, which I occasionally have to remove to insert my CD drive.
    No idea why tp_smapi doesn't load when put in MODULES in rc.conf, but workarounds should be easy. Alternatively, if you only use it to update your charge settings, you can just manually load it each time you need to.
    EDIT :
    Have just found out that by manually adding thinkpad_ec before tp_smapi in MODULES in rc.conf, everything loads. Strange, since thinkpad_ec should be loaded automatically with tp_smapi. But hey, it works.

  • Fails to load modules while lauching Xfce4 (SOLVED)

    When I type "startxfce4" I get something like this:
    Failed to load module: sis (module does not exist, 0)
    Failed to load module: vga (module does not exist, 0)
    Failed to load module: vesa (module does not exist, 0)
    Failed to load module: mouse (module does not exist, 0)
    Failed to load module: [AND_SOME_MORE] (module does not exist, 0)
    Fatal server error:
    no screens found
    Fatal IO error 104 (connecting reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
    after 0 requests ( 0 known processed) o events remaining.
    I have no idea what it means (except that I miss some modules).
    /Richard

    those are xorg modules
    As xorg7 is modular, you'll need to install the modules you need. At least you should have for keyboard and mouse to work:
    pacman -S xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard
    Then you should have one for your video card
    pacman -S xf86-video-{your video}
    You can see which ones are available from
    pacman -Ss xf86-video
    Then you need to configure xorg if you haven't done so far.
    As root type 'xorgconfig' for a nice script to help you configure it.

  • [SOLVED]Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

    Hi,
    I'm getting this message
    Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
    keepassx: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libindustrial.so: undefined symbol: gtk_check_version
    for various gtk-based applications.
    I've read that is fixed, https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23655.
    Using Arch 64 bit, XFCE here.
    Any clue?

    Changing gtk theme do the trick. I get the message, but applications start ok.

  • [SOLVED] "Loading Modules" Slow after Latest Upgrade (EeePC 901)

    After the latest upgrade, my EeePC is taking an incredibly long time (20+ seconds) at the "Loading Modules" stage of the boot process. I cannot find any error messages, and after the pause, the machine boots normally. This process used to be almost instantantaneous before the upgrade. The modules being loaded are rfkill and eeepc_laptop.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

  • [SOLVED] Can't load module autofs4

    I am following autofs wiki page which instructs me to load module autofs4. modprobe autofs4 and sudo modprobe autofs4 result in no console output.
    Trying to remove module:
    $ sudo modprobe -r autofs4
    modprobe: FATAL: Module autofs4 is builtin.
    Do I need to load this module at all?
    Couldn't find "autofs" in lsmod, modinfo, dmesg, systool -v -m.
    Anyone point me in right direction?

  • [SOLVED] [systemd] systed-module-load.service inactive (dead)

    Hello archers,
    I use VirtualBox and I'm tired of loading modules manually so I figured that a conf file can be created in /etc/modprobe.d/ that will load those modules at boot. Well, easier said than done because it doesn't seem to work.
    Here's my virtualbox.conf:
    # modules relevant to VirtualBox
    vboxdrv
    vboxnetadp
    vboxnetflt
    and here's my systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service:

    Why not read the Wiki and follow the instructions?

  • [SOLVED] unable to pass loading modules

    Hello people,
    Turned my netbook off yesterday.  There was no updates. Unable to boot past loading modules.
    Booting from my USB key worked, cleared out all the modules in rc.conf, which didn't work.  Booting into failback has the same outcome.
    Any ideas?

    I made a typo on a Udev rule, not to sure if this a bug. If a error is made in a udev rule shouldn't it at least show an error or by pass that rule?

    nvidia 319.32-2
    nvidia-utils 319.32-1

    If you have conflicts, I found it easiest to remove those (bbswitch, virtualbox in my case), downgrade linux and then install the appropriate  bbs/vb packages

Also, there is a bar with the page number, and a field with a "Jump to" command with a pop down arrow with page numbers, and up and down arrows beside it which go up or down one page if used.
    This does not happen with, say, Bing, nor if I use Int Expl (aagh).
    I have no autopage type of add-ons, or plugins.. I may have had an add-on at one time. There are a bunch of autopager "strings", or lines, in about:config. How do you remove them, if that is the problem?
    How do I stop this from happening? It is extremely annoying.
    Thanks,
    SK

    hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • Why will images will not automatically load in apple mail despite having the setting turned on correctly

    I have had this ongoing problem. I cannot get images to automatically load in mail. Instead I always have to click the load images button. I click on a message, click load images, the images load. I click on another message, then back to the message with the images and have to reload them.
    In preferneces I have turned the View>Load remote HTML images on and off and on again, and rebotted multiple times. It makes no difference. The images do not load.
    I checked Little Snitch, but all ports are open.
    My firewall is set to let everything connect to mail. Even just turning off the firewall does not solve the problem.
    I tried removing com.apple.mail.plist but that did not work either.
    This problem occurs in Mail on a MacBook Pro and on a MacBook Air both using the newest version of OS Mountain Lion. The problem happened in OS Lion as well.
    The senders are in my contacts, so that doesn't help either.
    This is not an issue with the serve sending the images. The images load if I click load images. They just will not automatically laod.
    I've read tons of posts but no one seems to know how to solve the problem.
    Does anyone have any other ideas?

    I am not sure how to link these discussions, so below I am pasting the post that helped me. And here is the link:

    This is not a problem specific to Lion, but most recent OS X versions. Regularly I receive email formatted as HTML, which includes JPEG images embedded within them. These images are technically attachments, and as such, Mail.app displays them as a placeholder. Other mail apps will display these images inline, regardless of them being an attachment, remote image or otherwise.
    How can I make these images load automatically?
    MacBook, Unibody, Mac OS X (10.7), 750GB, 7200RPM WD HDD, 4GB RAM
    This solved my question by louse101  on Jul 26, 2011 3:47 AM
    No-one replied, but I found a solution on another board. Run Terminal (do a Spotlight search if you don't know where to find this), and type:
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool false
    This will force Mail not to disable inline attachment viewing. Obviously, to reverse this, simple replace 'false' at the end with 'true'.

  • How to disable automatic loading of iView/Page in detailed navigation?

    Hello,
    We've upgraded our portal 7.0 from SP9 to SP12.
    I've noticed that SAP have added this change: Whenever a user is navigating between one role/tab to another in the top level navigation the first folder at the detailed navigation is automatically opened and the first content there is automatically loaded.
    I would like to disable this option - I've looked at the new properties that have been added to the detailed navigation iView between SP9 and SP12 and could only find these two: Display Parent of Hidden Node and Open Folder When Launched.
    These two are not solving this problem and they are disabled anyway.
    Any ideas...?
    Roy

    Roy,
    Role and Workset Hierarchy:
    Folders F1 and F2 (Roles) are defined as entry points and therefore appear on the first level of the top level navigation bar. What happen is when we click F1 (Role), the underlying folders F1a and F1b (Worksets) appear on the second level. On click on F1a the first entry F1a (Workset) of the second level is activated and its contents (iViews) are displayed in the detail navigation and the contents of the iView is displayed in the portal page of the content area.
    And same procedure happens with F2 role on the first level of the top level navigation bar. When we click on the F2 (Role) the underlying folders F2a and F2b (Worksets) appear on the second level of the top level navigation bar. On click on F2a the first entry F2a (Workset) of the second level is activated and its contents (iViews) are displayed in the detail navigation and the contents of the iView is displayed in the portal page of the content area.
    I think need to configure levels of TLN which includes top level navigation, detail navigation and content area and then need to define the entry points.
    Below are the links for configuring levels of TLN and right below it you will find link for define entry point:

  • How to unload dynamically loaded modules?

    Hi,
    I have a problem with unloading module, which I loads dynamically.
    Here is a fragment my code:
    <TitledWindow .......creationComplete="init()"/>
    <mx:Accordion id="lista_ryzyk">
    </mx:Accordion>
    <mx:Script>
    public function init():void
    {    CairngormEventDispatcher.getInstance().addEventListener(LoadRisksEvent.EVENT_RESULT, populateAccordion);
    public function populateAccordion(event:CairngormEvent):void
         lista_ryzyk.removeAllChildern();
         for (i in risks)
              var m:ModuleLoader = new ModuleLoader();
              m.url = path_to_module;
              m.label = module_label;
              m.loadModule();
         lista_ryzyk.addChildAt(m,Number(i));
    </mx:Script>
    The modules loads fine. Each module adds own eventListener for some event. It works fine, but ONLY for first time. For next invoke populateAccordion function, the modules loads, but don't reacts for event. I investigate !!! that for events reacts that modules, which was loaded for the first time!!! How to remove it????

    Using array, didn't solve my problem, but it is possible that I'm doing something wrong.
    I still can't catch event in second time loaded module :-((( I have tried to solve this problem from wednesday! it goes me crazy!
    Could you, or anybody, try to inspect my code and help me? I have no idea how to manage it.
    I know exactly what is wrong, but I can't improve that. In module's creationComplete function I display the UID of this module, and in body of eventHandler function I do the same. In case of FIRST time  the displayed UID are the same, but when I load the module second time, the UID of the loaded module displayed in creationComplete function is new, but the UID displayed in handler function is the same as the first loaded module. So my event is catch by the wrong modul, and I don'tknow how to change it, how to process event in my newly loaded module.
