[SOLVED] Cannot upgrade klibc-*: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL...

Hello. I'm getting errors while trying to do a system upgrade. I'm running Arch64:
# pacman -Syu

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

I started getting these errors yesterday. I figured that I screwed something up and so I re-installed Arch (was wanting to start from scratch anyway, so no big deal there). I used the FTP ISO if it makes any difference.
Here are my repositories:
Server = http://mirror.umoss.org/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64
Server = http://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64

Server = http://schlunix.org/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64
Server = http://mirror.archlinux.com.ve/$repo/os/x86_64
Here are the packages that I've installed since initial installation:
[2009-05-08 00:08] installed v86d (0.1.9-2)
[2009-05-08 00:13] upgraded v86d (0.1.9-2 -> 0.1.9-2)
[2009-05-08 00:19] installed libdaemon (0.13-1)
[2009-05-08 00:19] installed ifplugd (0.28-4)
[2009-05-08 00:21] synchronizing package lists
[2009-05-08 00:21] starting full system upgrade
[2009-05-08 00:31] installed alsa-lib (1.0.19-1)
[2009-05-08 00:31] installed alsa-utils (1.0.19-1)
Please note that the v86d package also seems to be affected by this, since it doesn't work even though I've properly configured it and doing pacman -S klibc outputs nearly the same thing as above, but with v86d at the bottom:
# pacman -S klibc
warning: klibc-1.5.15-1 is up to date -- reinstalling
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: klibc-extras: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL_nvxTyXXO41WmGk
:: klibc-kbd: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL_nvxTyXXO41WmGk
:: klibc-module-init-tools: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL_nvxTyXXO41WmGk
:: klibc-udev: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL_nvxTyXXO41WmGk
:: v86d: requires klibc-i5oq3Jxz3fJL_nvxTyXXO41WmGk
I hope that's enough information. 0_o I can't seem to find a whole lot on this problem.
Thanks!

That confirms that the packages affected are the klibc's and v86d. What's going on here?
EDIT2:
Okay, so I removed the v86d package with pacman -Rs v86d, performed a system upgrade (it upgraded a few file successfully), then tried to install v86d again. No-go, it comes up with the same error. Here's the complete output of the steps I took:

EDIT3: SOLVED! [for now ]
I went ahead and manually installed those four packages (klibc-extras, klibc-kbd, klibc-module-init-tools, klibc-udev) at the same time, and it worked! Then I went ahead and re-installed v86d, and it installed fine (still doesn't work though, but I'll open a new thread about that in a minute). Here's the complete output of what I did:

It would be nice to know why this was happening, so comments are still welcome on this matter.
EDIT4:
Ran into problems again. Please see this thread for details as it relates to what I did here.

Nevermind, I fixed it. Click above link for details -- it was simple...

I'm sorry to say, I don't think so, or I just don't know how. I've been using yaourt to do system updates for six months now. the only packages I don't compile with yaourt are firefox and xulrunner. And it was my impression yaourt pulled the package build from abs. My mirror in /etc/pacman.d/mirrolist is the archlinux.org one.
My output from my failed -Syu update was as follows.
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: klibc-extras: requires klibc-4_F00PT-JGwQxhemX9BVmkCpL-U
:: klibc-kbd: requires klibc-4_F00PT-JGwQxhemX9BVmkCpL-U
:: klibc-module-init-tools: requires klibc-4_F00PT-JGwQxhemX9BVmkCpL-U
:: klibc-udev: requires klibc-4_F00PT-JGwQxhemX9BVmkCpL-U
Thus far i've been unable to recreate the problem.... I find it odd that within a week of each other, two people have the same problem
if I can recreate it, i'll see about getting more details.

    What the heck were you doing in that pacman transation?  1 GB was added, and nearly 2 GB removed?
    I can't help but suspect that was part of it.  But in either case, you should check what is filling up /var/ as the package cache should not be a major issue.  Are logs filling up?  In other words, are you ignoring your computer screaming at you about some other problem?

    I was inspired after reading this post.
    % sudo pacman -Rdd virtuoso libdrm libdrm-nouveau
    % sudo pacman -S virtuoso-base libdrm libdrm-nouveau1
    % sudo xargs sh -c 'pacman -Sd "$@" < /dev/tty' --
    % sudo pacman -Su
    There were a few other packages needing manual intervention (sip and python-sip).  But now I've noticed that I've gotten missing modules errors during mkinitcpio and I'm seeing "glibc: /lib exists in filesystem."
    I'm marking this as solved while I wade through those other issues.

  • I have a Mac OSX Version 10.4 and iphoto 6. I cannot upgrade to a later version of iphoto 6 because it requires a 10.5.6 or later. What can I do?

    I have a Mac OSX version 10.4.11 and iphoto 6. I can no longer order cards, prints etc. and cannot upgrade to a newer version of iphoto because I don't meet the system requirements of 10.5.6 or later. What can I do?

    Unless you upgrade the OS and then iPhoto, not a lot, I'm afraid.

  • HT202879 I apparently have the newest Pages version uploaded and installed. But I cannot access it.  I do not find any agreement or anything which needs approval.  I cannot access my pages documents.  Message says an upgrade is required.  When ITunes is o

    I cannot access my pages documents after upgrade to OSX 10.9.1.  Pages and Numbers show they are upgraded also, but when I try to access the existing documents it says I need an upgraded version.  I cannot upgrade because Apps says I already have.  But the apps continue to report that they are in the older version.  OSX is updated.  I've tried to accept user agreements etc but no luck.  HELP

    You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
    Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
    You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
    Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
    Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
    Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
    All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
    Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
    Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

    Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3

    I cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3. The 3.0 was initially purchased as a download from the old Apple Store. Now it does not seem to recognise this version when I want to upgrade: "this upgrade requires Aperture 3"... which is ecactly what I have (and purchased!).

    OK, got it solved:
    Re: Aperture 3.0.1 upgrade claims I don't have Aperture 3.0 installed
    Feb 24, 2010 2:15 PM (in response to civilpooch)
    The Aperture file you are upgrading must be in the root Applications folder AND the file must be named (exactly) "Aperture" (no quotes). If you've renamed your Aperture file to "Aperture 3" or something like that, the update will fail. Mark

  • [SOLVED] System upgrade broke pm-resume (kernel problem?)

    It now seems every other time I suspend to RAM, it fails to come back. I just get a blank screen, no backlight, with a completely unresponsive keyboard. At this point, the only thing I do that has any effect is a hard shutdown by holding down the power button. I had no problems before I upgraded on April 10. I didn't post this immediately because I wanted to see if the new xorg-server and associated updates would fix it, but it didn't.
    Here is pm-suspend.log:

    Hi there. Me here with the same problem. Well I think it to be so...
    I can not suspend/resume for the second time - when I resume the backlight turns on, but the suspend LED is not turned off, HDD works, CPU, fans work. My computer is Thinkpad T43p. And older kernel does solve the problems.
    I am considering one more issue about this problem is that the drivers may conflict with the newest kernel (for example my opensource ati drivers). Any suggestions?
    By the way, if someone needs older packages, you can use 'Arch Rollback Machine' (ARM - http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=53665)

    My wife and I both have iPads running 5.0.1. Mine is v2 and hers is v1. We both have Macs with 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.
    When I tried upgraded to 5.1 throguh iTunes I got messages saying I could not connect to the server. A friend suggested I reboot the iPad and my Mac. I did and the upgrade went fine.
    I cannot upgrade my wife's iPad, however. Even after rebooting I get an error saying iTunes cannot download the upgrade because her computer is not hooked up to the internet. It is, however. I can access the iTunes store, use Safari, and get e-mail. I then tried to download the upgrade directly through the iPad but after a few minutes I get a message saying the updte failed.
    Any suggestions?

    Problem solved. I upgraded after switching a cable. Not sure why that mattered but all is fine now.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

    if you have a cc subscription, close ps > sign out and then back in to your cc desktop > open ps.

    I have installed Adobe Lightroom CC.  In the process of launching, a popup appears, that says:  "AN INTERNAL ERROR HAS OCCURRED.  Cannot create the required folder:  /Users/(my user name)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets."  So even though Lightroom CC is installed, it will not launch.  What do I need to do to allow it to launch?

    The problem was solved today.  Here's the full story.  I'm a Mac user.  At first I installed Lightroom CC on my iMac (desktop).  I had this problem so I called Adobe, and was referred to a "special unit" .  After about an hour the tech solved it for me ... we did a screen sharing and she took control of my computer for a loooong time.  Because of language difficulties, at first I wondered if she knew what she was doing but she eventually solved it.  Although she couldn't explain exactly what she was doing, she summarized it by saying "it was a permissions problem."  I asked if I would have the same issue later when I installed it on my laptop (Macbook Air).  She said probably not.
    But I did.  The same internal error popup arose on launch and launch did not complete on my laptop.  I tried chat but no joy so I eventually called Apple Care.  I had noticed that on my laptop (and the iMac for that matter), that there was no Library folder after my user name.  The Apple tech explained that the Library folder is actually there but it is hidden because it's very easy for users to do some very nasty things to their computer by going astray while in the Library folder.  The folder is actually there, but they hide it.  I did remember seeing that the tech helping me with my iMac had typed the work "Library" while she was controlling my computer.  Basically she had activated the hidden Library folder so she could open the path that Lightroom was trying to follow to create that "Develop Presets" folder.  For some reason, the inability to create that folder in the launch process was preventing launch from being completed.  The Apple tech said she didn't actually have to do that and activated the Library folder by use of the Go selection on the menu bar.  Anyway, once that complete path was replicated and opened, the next step was to go to the Lightroom Permissions field and add my user name to the user categories already there and enable "read and write" permissions to my user name.  Once done, I shut down my laptop, and then rebooted.  I launched Lightroom and then boom, voila, heavens to betsy, etc. it launched and suddenly a dismal weekend turned into a great one.
    I am not a geek, so I hope this makes some sense.  I also hope Lightroom launches again tomorrow and beyond!
