[SOLVED] cdemu and vhba module issue

cdemu-daemon fails to load. Checking why the problem seems to be tied to vhba module so doing journalctl -b here i the output for vhba

Thank you for your reply. I built VHBA module with ABS (bettre than downgrading to 3.12.4-kernel).
After I rebuilt vhba cdemu-daemon loaded normally but in order to load any image it is necessary to rebuild also libmirage otherwise you get the error
ERROR: Failed to load image: net.sf.cdemu.CDEmuDaemon.errorMirage.ParserError: No parser can handle the image file!
Anyway now works perfectly.

I have only just started using Arch and I find it really refreshing, like going back to the old days of early red hat lol.
Anyway my problem is I downloaded cdemu and when I try to run the daemon, it says it cannot find the vhba module, I do have it installed, and checked that it is there. I have tried modprobing it with the same result. I have even compiled vbha from source as well, with still the same result.
here is what happens when I try to run the cdemud - ive included it with and without sudo.
/etc/rc.d/cdemud start

[SOLVED] systemd and blacklisting modules

Hi,
I recently found out about the 'systemctl status foo.service'-cmd and I was finally able to see why the systemd-modules-load-service was failing on my laptop.
It complains it cannot find service-files for 'blacklist nouveau' and other modules I have blacklisted. The wiki mentions blacklisting is done the same for systemd as for sysV-init, i.e. through a simple 'blacklist <modulename>' inside a .conf-file residing in either:
/etc/modprobe.d/ or
/etc/modules-load.d/
What am I doing wrong?

Help me solve color and dark print issue with a new monitor recommendation!

I know, I hate "surveys" too. I'm thinking of attacking my color and dark printing issues w\LR and CS4, by investing in a new monitor. I currently have an 20' early edition Apple Cinema Display. The monitor is the last hardware (software) item in my current upgrade cycle. From those folks who are NOT having color or print problems, what displays are you using (or would recommend)? Ah, and price is an issue. Apologies in advance to those who think this is not appropriate use of the Forum.

Monitor calibration is the first port of call. Sometimes changing one item in a system is enough to show up a colour management issue. You suggest that the monitor is the last item in your upgrade cycle, what all have you changed? Computer, printer? There may also be a setting you have failed to set when you installed the new software, eg. have you remembered to set relative colorimetric with the black point compensation box ticked, disable colour management in your printer driver and put an appropriate colour profile for your monitor onto the new computer? You also need the correct profile for your printer/paper combination set up in Photoshop.
If you haven't calibrated your monitor, that on its own will give you poor prints, but all the other bits are needed also.

Pavilion g6 laptop with start-up and memory module issue + beeping

My laptop is a g6-1c58dx. I was(?) having problems with my cooling fan, so I went about disassembling it to get into the fan to clean the fan out. So far, so good. I think I'm having some kind of problem putting the memory module back in now though. I'm not positive which side of the memory module was facing up when I took it out and I forgot which of the two slots it was in. However, I've tried with both sides in both slots and still no dice. Every time I hit the power button, the capslock button blinks, the screen doesn't turn on and I get three long beeps followed by two short beeps. I've been trying to find a good picture of the memory module in the laptop some place online to see if I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't been able to find a good enough one. I went digging into part of the support rescources here that mentioned having some video and such which might be related to my problem, but I couldn't find g6, only g1, g2, and g3. So, it's very late here. I've been working on this all night. Could anybody tell me what I need to do to end the maddness?

Apple support recommend you call them to solve your issue as they want to report all instances to engineering. They solved my issue (for now)
Symptoms on Macbook Pro Retina 16GB 512GB SSD - late 2013 :
1. any online audio or video stutters when playing - Youtube, Vimeo etc
2. wifi cuts out - only reconnects if I turned off/on wifi
3. Bluetooth keyboard / magic mouse disconnects
Allegedly, during the update, something can happen with users accounts freezing. Therefore, a simple fix solves the issues:
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Start Mac holding down SHIFT key (until desktop appears) - log in with your problem user account (Safe mode for those not familiar)
3. Open Safari and navigate to Youtube - I played a video - the sound was not available but does not matter.
4. Shut down Mac
5. Start Mac in normal mode
All should be fine now. If not call Apple support - that's what they suggest

RemovePreviousVersions and merge module issues

I've created an application in VS 2005 that uses a setup and deployment project for distribution. It has a few rpt files included. They were developed just using the version of Crystal that came with VS 2005. When building the project for deployment the msi file was 2MBs in size. After I figured out that I had to include a merge module, the msi is now 27 MBs! The merge module I included is CrystalDecisionsRedist2005_x86.msm.
When we package a new version, that will serve as both an install and an update, we have to set RemovePreviousVersions = true. When we run this new msi on a computer with the old version of our software, it removes our software plus the Crystal stuff. Then it has to reinstall the Crystal stuff and then our software. This install takes over 5 minutes, which is WAY too long.
So, a couple questions arise from this. 1. Is there a way to make the Crystal stuff "permanent", like you can with other files within the setup project? This way it wouldn't get uninstalled and reinstalled every time we do an update. 2. Is there a subset of the CrystalDecisionsRedist2005_x86.msm that we can use instead that wouldn't balloon our install by 25 MBs and would still be enough for our reports work? This would also speed up the install if we had to uninstall and reinstall the Crystal stuff every time.

- Not that I can think of. Not if you have to use RemovePreviousVersions = true. I mean, you just told it to remove previous version(?). You may want to fool around with setting the bin directory to read only, but I've never done that and have no idea if the app will work at all and what will happen when "RemovePreviousVersions = true" is attempted.

TIMECODES are important for audio and video sync issues

Hello, just wanted to pass on what I learned so that others can avoid the trouble that I've had to go through. Perhaps this may help someone who is stuck on the launch pad. :)
BOTTOM LINE: Info for the beginner. Audio and video not in sync in Premiere Pro CS3 V3.2.0
PROBLEM: Capture works great it seems. When I go to the folder that contains the captured file and view in Windows Media Player audio and video are in sync. BUT when viewing the video asset in the source and program monitors, the audio and video are not in sync.
SOLUTION:
Before capturing a tape make certain the following is checked:
(1) Edit->Preferences->Capture->Use device control timecode
(2) Edit->Preferences->Device Control->Options->Timecode Format
(3) Project->Project Settings->General->Video->Display format
As for the devices timecode choose something other than Auto Detect. Then match the project timecode with what was chosen during capture. The projects display format could of course be set to frames.
I searched everywhere for audio and video sync issues in google, adobe forums, F1 help, and hv20.com and everyone was talking about:
(1) Presets: 1080p30 vs. 1080i30 (60i).
(2) brakes in the tape where timecode for the audio and video get misaligned during capture.
But choosing the correct hardware settings and timecodes to solve audio and video sync issues never popped up.
MY HARDWARE: Canon HV30, HDV

Fresh Install and no modules after boot [SOLVED]

Been with this problem for quite a while. I'm piss€d off

I've installed this release
Current Release: 2013.01.04
Included Kernel: 3.6.11
As i stop using Arch on a daily basis, i decide to install it again on my laptop. (I'm still using slackware, though)
I followed the wiki procedures and when i reboot i've got no modules loaded.
The reason:
uname -a give me 3.2.29 and the modules installed are 3.7.4.1.
I don't know what to do more. I've done 2 fresh installs and the results are the same.
I've upgraded with pacman -Syu, i've done:
pacman -S udev
pacman -S mkinitcpio
mkinitcpio -p linux
pacman -S linux
once or twice and... nothing.
something is missing and i don't know what. I'm out of ideas.

[SOLVED] Keyboard and Mouse Issue

Hi Arch Guros!
Please be easy on me, this is my first post and I'll try to make it as specific as I can..
When I use the Arch Linux Boot CD to attempt to install Arch Linux I noticed that my keyboard was not working..
I walked away from my computer for 5 minutes and when I came back I noticed that the keyboard it was lit up and working.. I noticed after a few reboots that the keyboard does in fact takes a few minutes to start to work and I noticed that this started to happen on my second hard drive running Linux Mint (when I fell back to it).. However, with a Windows 7 installation, this does not happen.
Anyway, I ran:

I've noticed A LOT of usb descriptor errors and usb address issues..
I have tried flashing a new BIOS to my motherboard (gigabyte 990fxa-ud5) and resetting the settings on it to factory defaults.. This dmesg output is when JUST my keyboard is connected..

If you need anymore information please ask, I can provide anything you need..

Alright, so I did an extensive amount of research after posting this while I waited for a response and seemed to find a procedure that worked to fix this issue..
I used a jumper to clear my CMOS settings..
I then loaded up the Arch Linux install and was greeted with a:
Unexpected Inconsistency: Run fsck Manually
I proceeded by running fsck /dev/sda2..
I said yes to all the prompts and rebooted,,
Everything seems to work find now.. Odd, but it didn't seem like a solid fix.. Oh well, thanks for listening!

Integrating a DSP and BlackFin Modules with LV 8.5

Hi all,
I am just posting my last trouble when I was using Labview software for an academic work.
So I'll try to summarize the topic.
So, the point was to integrate LB with DSP board specifically model BF537 from BlackFin.
The problem is: Not all version of Labview can support DSP Module (this is an extension that you should install to do the integration possible) and BlackFin Embedded application for BF537 as well.
Just to clarify: you should have the correct version of LV because after that, you should install DSP Module and then, BlackFin Embedded.
The LV 8.6 supports BlackFin Embedded but doesn't supports DSP Module. The LV 2009 and LV 2011 we have the same issue. You can read the respective guide of these versions just to check it out.
The only version of LV that can support DSP Module and Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors is version 8.5.
The problem would be solved if both Modules(DSP and BlackFin) would are easily available on NI site or other website.
I spent many hours searching with no success. For LV 8.5 the correct DSP Module is 2.5 and I could not find this specific Module on any ws. Regarding Module for Blackfin Processors I have no problem to download it.
I tried to contact NI local support of my country but they have slow answers and any engineer can help me although all have been very attentive by phone.
My solutions was contact USA engineer. The local team is very efficient and some minutes later the DSP Module 2.5 was available to download in this link:

Gmail/Exchange email and calendar syncing issues

I have wiped my email accounts several times and entered in my data in the various ways as shown through the forums but my email accounts do no sync properly whether it is manual or active synced.
I read my emails in my gmail and my Microsoft exchange account and will delete or file them away but then when I check my accounts on my desktop, they are not synced as I've done so on my phone. I've also noticed that my calendars are not synced correctly either.
Could someone help me understand why and how these issues can be fixed? I'm in meetings for most of the day so I rely on my phone to keep me mobile. Was this a bad purchase?!?!

Diff b/w BAPI and Function Module.

What is the difference between BAPI and Function Module....

BAPI: Standard Interface in the R/3 system that allows the system to communicate with components of other business suites.
FM: These are the procedures that are defined in the Function Groups and can be called from any ABAP Program. FM allow you to encapsulate and reuse global functions int he R/3 system.
The main basic difference between BAPI and FM are
1) All BAPIs are FM but not all FMs are BAPIs
2) BAPIs are remote enabled
3) BAPIs interface will not have a changing and exceptions. They can not be used to have use dialog.
Interface programs can post data to SAP either through a BDC, BAPI, IDOC etc. It depends on the type of requirement.

Nokia N95 8GB Album Art and Album Folders Issue

I have been hunting for for a resolution for two issues with the N95 8GB Media Player all over the web.
1. Adding artwork (CD Covers) to audio tracks (or albums) seems to be at best hit and miss. Most of the time it just does not work.
2. Deleting an album delete all the tracks but deleting the album folder seems almost impossible.
Well this weekend I decided to try to solve this and I think I may have hit upon a solution.
Since so may people have the same problem I thought it worth repeating. I would stress this has not been exhaustively tested but it does work reliably so far.
I am using Nokia Music Manager 2.0. The fix is simply to convert the files to AAC rather than to M4A (which is the default). After this simple change everythig worked find for me. I can add and delete albums from Nokia Music Manager 2.0 (don't forget to refresh on the phone afterwards) AND reliably add Album Artwork.
So here is how I have been working.
1. Set the conversion format to AAC. I have been using 'Ultra high' quality setting. Options Menu >> Setting >> Conversion Tab.
2. Next put in a CD, select all the tracks and choose copy to my collection.
3. While this is going on I find the artwork on the Web. A simple Google Image search with the album title and artists last name / band name seems pretty 100% to get the on the first page. Download image to My Documents / My Pictures.
4. Once the CD Rip is complete they will all appear in My Collection. I select all the tracks in my collection for the album in question, and then right click on one of them and select Edit.
5. I then attach the Album Artwork by clicking on the blue folder and choosing it from my, MY Pictures folder.
6. Finally select Copy to Phone from the File Menu.
This has worked for me so far 100% and I have done 20 or so albums.
NOTES:
To get Nokia Music Manager 2.0 I uninstalled the version of Nokia Phone Suite that came with my phone and went to

I chose the N95 8GB downloaded and installed. At some point shortly after install Phone Suite informed me that there were updates available and Nokia Music Manager 2.0 was one of these.
I was originaly using this and suffered all the problems you guys have. After searching the web and finding no solution I decided to do some experimenting.
Hope all this helps.
PS If you need to delete all your legacy album folders, this is the fix I found on this same site. You can do this at any time.
1. Enable the option to be able to see Hidden Files and Folders in your Windows Explorer.
2. Connect your n95 8gb to your computer and choose data transfer mode.
3. Go to My COmputer >> Nokia Phone Browser >> Nokia N95 8GB >> Memory Card E:
3. If you have selected Show Hidden Files and Folders (see 1) you should see a folder called Private.
4. In the Private folder you need to delete the contednts of three folders
\private\101FFC31 (mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd)
\private\101f8857\Cache
\private\101ffca9
In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
Next time you restart the music player it will rebuild the indexes without the deleted albums folders.
Hope this helps someone. It restored my sanity.

Basically there are two methods
Method 1.
You do it on the phone. Load the album art pictures to the memory card. (Must be JPEG NOT BMP)
Load also the music files.
Open Music application in the phone. Open an album then select Options->Album art then Options-> Add, browse for the picture and select Ok.
Repeat for each ALBUM
Method 2.
You do it on the PC.
Get a Tag editing software like Tag&Rename, WINAMP, etc.
Edit the files Metadata to include Album Art picutres (again they should be jpeg and also they should be set as Cover Front).
Transfer the files that have Album Art using File transfer (usb mass storage) don't use MTP or PC Suite as these methods may convert the files and Album Art will be lost.
Or you can continue using your Method
