[SOLVED] Dropbox and pygtk

I have installed Dropbox from the AUR. Everything has gone well until I tried to start dropbox. It then says:
Starting Dropbox...
The Dropbox daemon is not installed!
Run "dropbox start -i" to install the daemon"
When I run "dropbox start -i", I get: (I actually run "dropbox-cli start -i," but before I installed dropbox-cli I was having the same problems with the dropbox command:)

ImportError: No module named pygtk
From what I've read, this is due to the program expecting python or python2, but since I have python3 installed, then python links to python3. And pygtk doesn't exist in python3.
This might or might not be the problem. Regardless, I cannot figure out how to fix this problem.

[SOLVED] Dropbox and the fluxbox Slit

I have a minor problem concerning the Dropbox icon in the Slit.
I'm currently starting Dropbox by using the dropboxd-userspace daemon, but it doesn't create an icon in the Slit of fluxbox (although it's confirmed to be running). In order to get it to create an icon in the Slit I have to manually (re)start the dropboxd-userspace daemon.
So, how do I get it to automatically add an icon to the Slit?
Also, is it possible to get a list of the wiki articles not translated to a certain language? I'm planning on translating them into my native language (Swedish) but a list of the untranslated articles would help to make sure that I don't miss any crucial articles.

By slit you mean notification area?
Myself I start Dropbox by running dropboxd and nothing else. I guess you could just put it in your .xinitrc and have it startup autmatically with Fluxbox.

Dropbox and US throttling

I have had Infinity for a few weeks and the speed is excellent. But I aslo use Dropbox and have found the connection speed is awful, 350kb or so download (I have 49mb down and 11mb up).
I used speedtest.net to test servers in San Fran and NY and both test showed speeds of only 3mb down and 6mb up.
Can someone explain why BT puts such a huge restriction on traffic from the US? Afterall we are an internationally connected society now.

I would like to add to this and wasnt sure about the best place to start.
* I have had Infinity for several months and 80/18meg up/down is great
* This is consistent in tests and all seems fine on the numbers unlike others who arent getting what was quoted as a complaint.
However...I too have found dropbox is slower....and crashplan...and Backblaze...and and and others.
At those same exact times I can still perform fantastic speedtests and at those same times I have other links on same account at 3 office and datacentre locations where they are achieving much, much fasters uploads.
Backblaze in particular quote and standby the fact that they do not throttle...my numbers are good so....why do all the legitimate and NON P2P services seems to be restricted ?
Its feel VERY much like anything that could be used and take some bandwidth is being throttled and that defeats the object of having infinity and paying all that money ?
I also had an interesting situation when infinity was down one morning. Call support, couple of tests, indeed an issue...they were about to call someone out when I noticed it was back...something had nudged it. When I then went back to PC, Crashplan had gone from 1Mbps upload to between 8 and 10 Mbps !!! This remained for about roughly two days...then slowly dropped back to be 600kbps to 1Meg.
1) If this was some result of traffic being off while the lines were down...2 days is too long
2) why would it then gradually decrease almost in a controlled manner...some might say the more I uploaded the more I was throttled...sound familiar ?
Not sure anyone will ever answer this honestly but surely some suspicious evidence there ? I dont use P2P for dodgy downloads !

Dropbox and cpu

Hi,
even I've installed last patch 10.10.1 I've still problems with dropbox and yosemite. Something is wrong couse the dropbox process take busy the cpu to the 100% and I need to kill the process to operate normally.
Moreover since I've installed 10.10.1 sometimes OS X stall during turning on the system and I need to hard reset my iMac.
I hope you solve these problems with next patch... the system is very slow, the 10.9 was really faster and without all these problems.

I have the same crash when running in 32bit - MBA 13 2012, i7, 8GB. Spent an hour with AppleCare and they had not seen or heard of the problem so not sure I would hold my breathe for an update. I'm one day past my refund date but they are honoring the return because of this issue. I might just wait for MB 13 with Retina in the fall.

Sync iPhoto an Dropbox and Google drive

How do I sync iPhoto with Dropbox and Google Drive. I do not want to save my entire library into either, but thats the instructions I find. I just want to move an album in or out

I think I have solved this. I have Dropbox and Google Drive applications already installed. I go to Finder- open Applications- highlight with Dropbox or Google Drive then Double click . When I did this, the respective icon appeared in the the top bar (the Apple bar). A friend had "shared" a dropbox file of photos, which I had viewed but was unable to get into iPhoto. Once the icon appeared in the top bar, the shared Dropbox files went into my own Dropbox. Once the photo file appears in my GD or DB, it it available to be imported into iPhoto. This is done by opening iPhoto -- then open desired album (newly created & named)--- then click on File drop down in the top bar -- click on 'Import to Library", your Finder box opens up and you highlight the photos you want to copy to iPhoto. They appear in Last Import. Highlight all then drag them into desired folder.
Similarly, to Export from iPhoto, go to iPhoto - File Folder.... arrange & Edit your photos in the desired album. Then "select" all the photos in the album-- then click the File drop down, then Export. An Export window pops up- I select jpeg in the Kind window, in Quality I select maximum, in File Name I select Album Name & Number. then hit the Export button. Go to the prepared album (file) in GD, highlight the file you want the photos to go to, then hit the OK button
I wrote down each step, in order, so that I can make it happen every time- certainly not relying on memory or logic.

Dropbox and KDE

Hi,
I worked with Dropbox in KDE 4.7 and everything works fine. But after upgrade to KDE 4.8, there are problems.
At first, when Dropbox starts after log in, its status is still "Conecting..." - if I quit dropbox and start it again, it is ok.
When I want to copy some file to Dropbox directory and create public URL, error message "kde4-config not found" occurs, but I have it in /usr/bin/kde4-config.
I found that it could be problem with sqlite3-tools, but in Archlinux there is no sqlite3-tools but only sqlite3 and I have it.
Dropbox 1.2.51
KDE 4.8.00
Any advice?

Do you have an @ before network in your dameons array in rc.conf. if so try removing the @.
did you try renaming ~/.dropbox folder. (of course this would delete all your preferences) and ~/.dropbox-dist and reinstalling it?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

They will be deleted from iCloud any other devices that are sharing the account/photo stream. They shouldn't be deleted from Dropbox. As I understand it, Dropbox only automatically uploads photos, it doesn't automatically delete photos.

[solved] Dropbox messes up the desktop

Hi,
I'd like to install dropbox and see what it works. So I dowloaded and installed it from AUR. On running it tries to start nautilus; however I always run nautilus with the command "nautilus --no-desktop --browser" because I run fluxbox. I want dropbox to issue this command as well. It does not do this now, and the result is that there are icons that on the screen, the background image is changed, and the fluxbox menu is inaccessible.
Any ideas how to change this?

I installed dropbox with yaourt; apparently the dropbox-nautilus-app comes with it?
I run fluxbox, and I start dropbox by issuing the command.
Anyway, when I run dropbox or dropboxd, the program starts in "icon mode" in the taskbar; when I click on the item, then the strange behavior starts (nautilus is started with the wrong command, icons appear on the desktop, the fluxboxmenu is inaccessible, and the background image changes).

Dropbox and Indesign CS5

Hi I have a dropbox account on my imac and that is where I save, edit and control everything. I also have a mac book air also with Adobe CS5 on. However on my mac book air, I log on to dropbox via the web and download files that I need. What is happening is that when I try and download the indesign file, dropbox defaults it as a .txt file so I can't access it. Does anyone know what i need to do to download via the web an indesign file?

Peter - When on dropbox on the web, I right click the file I want to download, then a menu comes up and I select 'download'. It automatically downloads to my download folder and also opens. When I go to the download folder it has saved it as a txt, so I don't have the option to re-save it.
Bob - As above, I'm right clicking in dropbox and selecting the download, but it automatically downloads it as a txt format. I've downloaded excel and word docs and they are fine. I've posted this question on the dropbox forum, but have had no response - hence my questions here! Yes I'm sure it may be how my computer saves downloads, but I'm not sure how to change it.
Any further suggestions gratefully recieved!

-uploaded 1080p videos from IOS are converted to 720p 5mb/s as in existing Photo Sharing and not originals.
-No upload button in web iCloud photo Client on MAC for many (all?) users
Also very slow and very often stuck doing nothing.
I am afraid we would have to wait for next year... or later
What is unbelievable is that there are no information at all by Apple about what should word on the beta, and known problems, nor any release date, that is definitely not a beta, just powerpoint preview. I am very angry after all the fuss they have done around "new" iCloud and my 200GB monthly payment that I cannot use.

Photo Management through Dropbox and without iPhoto

I have finally made the jump back from iPhone to BB and i'm loving it. Go Blackberry!!!
The ability to port some apps from android has bridged most of the gaps from the store.
My biggest show stopper right now is getting dropbox to sync my photos and for blackberry link not to use iPhoto to sync photos with my computer. I would like to select a folder of pictures that i want synced and select a folder where i want the new camera to be synced.
Does anyone have any tricks that i could use to facilitate my photo management through dropbox and BBLink? If these are features being worked on I'd appreciate to get an idea how long it will take to get it.

If your client wish to go for postive time management it is must for you create interface either you willing to say or not.
Without that interface you can't do time positive time management
2. I came to know that there is a standard interface(HR PDC) in sap to interact with ecternal recording system. I want to know how this Sap interact with external recording system i.e. online or offline using this interface.
I belive this needs some third party tool to intract with PDC. then you have use time evaluation status TMSTA 1 according to PDC
