[solved] Get the browser playing videos without flash
Hi there,
on my favourite news site in the web (n-tv.de) there are also some videos available. Now I 'm trying to get rid of flash.
Those videos are playable with vp8, which should be available in gstreamer0.10-good-plugins. I've tried it with both Firefox and Seamonkey. But I fail to play any video there.
First I've tried it with gstreamer-1.4.5:
gst-plugins-good
gst-plugins-bad
gst-plugins-ugly
libvpx is also installed:
extra/libvpx 1.3.0-1 [installed]
The VP8 Codec SDK

Then I've tried gstreamer-0.10:

But nothing. Firefox (and Seamonkey, Konquerer, …) still refuse to play any video.
When I click on a video on n-tv.de, the site presents me a file dialogue to save a m3u8 file.
Inside this file there are no urls:

Btw. Youtube works without problems. dailymotion.com refuses and wants to have flash installed. Firefox is version 35.0.1
How do I get that stuff played?

Found a hint in the Arch-Wiki.
Firefox uses webkit2gtk.
pacman -Qi webkit2gtk

gst-plugins-good: media decoding [Installiert]
gst-libav: nonfree media decoding [Installiert]
The last one gst-libav wasn't installed. With gst-libav it's working as wanted.

This camera is supported natively in iMovie. You do not need clipwrap unless you have removed the mts files from your camera so they are out of context. iMovie uses the file structure of the camera to determine how to import.
The easiest way to import, if your camera has an SD card, is to use an SD card reader (or an SD card slot on your Mac).
To import, I recommend making a Camera Archive first. This will make an identical copy of what is on the camera. Then, import to iMovie from the Camera Archive.
When you import to iMovie, the AVCHD will be converted to Apple Intermediate Codec for editing. AVCHD is a highly compressed codec, and converting to AIC gives you full I-frames for editing.
When you get ready to send to iDVD, use the SHARE menu to Share in Large size (960x540). You can SHARE/MOVIE and then drag the resulting file into iDVD, or you can SHARE/Media Browser and then use the Media Browser within iDVD to find your movie.
When you make a DVD, you are converting everything to standard definition 640x480. Large size gives iDVD something to chew on without giving yourself the overhead of converting down from 1920x1080 to 640x480.
If you no longer have the files from your camera, then ClipWrap is a good solution. -

In Safari, open your Preferences, go to Advanced and check the "Show Develop menu in the menu bar"
This will add a new menu at the top.
Go to the Develop menu, User Agent and select a different choice which allows Safari to spoof different browsers, OSs and devices.
Selecting Safari for iPad usually works.
However, the choice is page specific. it doesn't stick if you go to another page, you need to repeat the procedure again. -
How To Play Videos Without Silverlight?

I am looking to start rolling out alot of videos soon but our environment does not have Silverlight deployed in our machine images. Is there any alternative to get videos to play without Silverlight being deployed to machines? We are IE8 shop

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to play video without Silverlight.
We can use the HTML 5 to achieve it, however, HTML5 is not supported by all browser (especially the old ones).
As a workaround, we can use the Video.JS to allow your browser to parse the video tag and play the video with a flash player if your browser does not support HTML5 standards.

I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?
Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian. Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

Ok, so I have a PC and recently downloaded the newest version of iTunes. Somehow I canno't find my video Podcasts anywhere except for the recently played videos. Where can I first of all find them and secondly view them like in a list or gallery?

note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.

How can I get the best quality video on YouTube?
I tried what you posted from another poster, Steve, but had a problem at step 2, the part in red.
2. Import this AVI file into Windows MovieMaker, place the file on MovieMaker's timeline and Publish (to your hard drive) a
WMV, dvd-quality (4:3 size) PAL 3,0 M.
When I click Publish, the only option I get is "YouTube" and "Get Add Ons".
Since the option I was told to take didn't exist, I clicked "save movie" and then "high definition 1080p". Hey I'm just trying to figure this stuff out. I'm new to it, so I picked the highest quality I could find.
Well, the result is a movie on YouTube that is OK, but nowhere near the quality of the movie on my computer. Just for fun, I uploaded the AVI file to YouTube from MovieMaker. It was a huge file, it did upload, but the quality was still not there.
So, I return to my original question, which is almost the same as the originally posted question:
How should I save video with Premiere Elements to get the highest quality video to post to YouTube? The videos were taken in AVCHD format, but after editing, I don't know the best rendering option to get the highest quality video when viewed on YouTube. The videos look great on my computer, but on YouTube, the video is really degraded.

I have an i7 processor, 8 gigs or RAM, and am running Windows 7 x64. Video editing is with Premiere Elements and my video camera is a Canon HG10 that shoots AVCHD.I had the best success using the John Cloudman method from the link you posted. The video was much better quality on YouTube (in my opinion) with this method than the method of going to Movie Maker etc. I tried John Cloudman's Frame widtht of 1280 and Frame Height of 720 and then frame width 1920 frame width by 720. I found 1920x1080 better quality on YouTube than Mr. Cloudman's 1280x720.
I pasted in the part of the link below that I found most useful. A big thanks to John Cloudman for posting this!!
John Cloudman offers further advice:
From the Share tab, choose Personal Computer and then QuickTime. Choose the Cable Modem, DSL preset and then click the Advanced button.
From the settings window, do the following:
b Video Tab
*Video Codec: H.264
*Quality: 100
*Frame Wdith: 1280
*Frame Height: 720
*Frame Rate: 29.97
*Field Order: None
*Pixel Aspect Ratio: square
*Set Bitrate: checked
*Bitrate: 8000 kbps
b Audio Tab
*Audio Code: AAC
*Output Channels: Stereo
*Frequency: 44kHz
That should generate a .mov file that Youtube will handle correctly. You can modulate that Bitrate to reduce the amount of data size, and you can modulate the Quality number to reduce the encoding time. I wouldn't go lower than 3000 kbps for a bitrate or below 50 on Quality. Hope this helps everyone! -
Is there a way for java plug-in to get the browser login authentication
I have an applet that is loaded from a password protected html page. I use java plug-in with the applet.
When I try to read this page I get the browser window asking for password and username. So far so good.
Then I log in successfully and starts using the applet.
If the applet wants to access pages on the same PW protected area, I have to give the plug-in PW and UN.
My question is then:
Is there a way that java plug-in can get hold of the login information that the browser has obtained? (So that I wont have to give the same information twice)
I thought the answer would be no, but then I started experimenting with https and found out that if I use the same scenario as above, except from that I give a certificate to the browser before the first login, then the plug-in will get certificate info from the browser, and it wont promt me for UN and PW either!
When it is possible for the plug-in to obtain certificate info and login info from the browser then it should be possible just to get the login info with ordinarily http?bump

stevie, a third party app called airparrot will give you the pretty much the same as mirroring and forks on Macs too old to mirror.

It is not an app, if your ipad is 2 or 3 you have it, ipad one cannot mirror. Hıt home button a couple of times and swlipe l to r twice and you should see the icon.

On three of them, it NEVER asks for the floppy disk. On the remaining one, it ALWAYS asks. I have looked on the computers and cannot find any configuration differences (in fact, these machines are kept in a "closed environment", and therefore, they are configured, by default, exactly the same).
Does anyone have any thoughts?
